Santa Baby 2 + ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas

ABC FAMILY ANNOUNCES UPCOMING PROGRAMMING SLATE

(this is only a portion of the news release - that relates to ABCfamily and the 25 days of Christmas)

Actress Jenny McCarthy will star in the network's new original holiday movie, "Santa Baby 2," with Paul Sorvino and Dean McDermott. The movie will premiere in December during ABC Family's 12th annual "25 Days of Christmas" programming event which will feature over 200 hours of holiday-themed entertainment for the whole family from December 1- 25. McCarthy reprises her role as Mary Class, Santa's business minded daughter, to help save Christmas in "Santa Baby 2," the sequel to ABC Family's original hit movie of 2006.

Santa's in the midst of a late-life crisis -- he's tired of the responsibilities of the job and is ready to pass on the reins to Mary, who feels torn between the family business and running her own high stakes firm in New York City, along with balancing a relationship with the love of her life, Luke. The situation gets increasingly dire when a disgruntled former elf, Teri, in cunning disguise, sows dissension at the North Pole in an effort to take over Christmas. "Santa Baby 2" also stars Paul Sorvino as 'Santa Claus,' Dean McDermott as 'Luke Jessup' and Kelly Stables as 'Teri'; written by Peter Garrett Frawley & Brian Turner and executive-produced by Jody Brockway and Craig McNeil.

In addition to "Santa Baby 2," the network will feature classic holiday favorites such as "Rudolph's Shiny New Year," "Frosty's Winter Wonderland" and "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town." ABC Family will also present the basic cable premieres of Disney·PIXAR's Academy Award®-winning (Best Animated Feature Film) "RATATOUILLE" and "Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause." And again this year, Christmas comes early with "Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas," which adds 16 additional days of holiday programming.

from Wikipedia:

Jenny McCarthy reprises her role as Mary Class, Santa's business minded daughter, to help save Christmas in "Santa Baby 2," the sequel to ABC Family's original hit movie of 2006. Santa's in the midst of a late-life crisis -- he's tired of the responsibilities of the job and is ready to pass on the reins to Mary, who feels torn between the family business and running her own high stakes firm in New York City, along with balancing a relationship with the love of her life, Luke (Dean McDermott). The situation gets increasingly dire when Teri, an ambitious new arrival to the North Pole, sows dissension at the workshop in an effort to take over Christmas.

Movie Review:

If you enjoy Fantasy "North Pole" Christmas Movies... that are made just for lighthearted entertainment and amusement - then this movie should be right down your Santa Claus Lane!

This is a sequel movie to the original Santa Baby Movie starring Jenny McCarthy and George Wendt, as Santa.

In Santa Baby 2 - Dean McDermott plays Luke, the boyfriend of Mary Claus (Jenny McCarthy).
Paul Sorvino portrays her father, Santa Claus. It's Mary's job, again, to get to the North Pole and save Christmas. Mary and her boyfriend, Luke, live near Santa's toy shop at his place. Nothing is shown but kissing, however their living together is implied from the start. There is a little bit of language in this one, as well.

There is a lot of silly North pole activity and craziness! It's definitely a fantasy comedy. One of the elves, Teri, tries to take over Santa's role and is deceptive to everyone. In the end, she is remorseful and is forgiven. Mary has to decide between work & family commitments. There are also relationship struggles between Luke and Mary. Again, they disagree over living at the North Pole.

In the end, however, they come together and Christmas is saved Forever!!!

My Fake Fiance

MOVIE REVIEW

My Fake Fiance:

ABCfamily Movie starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence

CAST:

Melissa Joan Hart ... Jennifer
Joseph Lawrence ... Vince
Burgess Jenkins ... Steve
Jason MacDonald ... David
Nicole Tubiola ... Courtney
Steve Schirripa ... The Monkey
Rhoda Griffis ... Val
Mike Pniewski ... Al
Patricia French ... Catherine
Robert Pralgo ... Ben
Elizabeth Keener ... Carmen

PLOT:

from ABCfamily-

Oil and water get along better than Jennifer (Melissa Joan Hart) and Vince (Joey Lawrence), who meet at a friend’s wedding. But when they see the haul of presents and cash their friends receive, the cash strapped duo resolve to join forces and come up with a plan. They decide to fake a relationship, engagement and wedding - and stay together long enough to make it look authentic. But real feelings get in the way when these two actually start to fall for each other.

Movie Review:
Okay... Wow! How to describe this one? It's hard to resist it - even though the main characters are completely misguided in their decisions. As described above, they meet at a mutual's friends wedding, clash, and yet decide to pretend they are in love and getting married. Why?, you may ask... well, just to get all the wonderful gifts, of course!
So, the couple... Jennifer (Melissa Joan Hart) and Vince (Joseph Lawrence) are living a complete lie and deceiving all of their friends and family. This adds a lot of stress on both of their lives and guilt - yet, they keep it up throughout the movie... partially I believe, because they are falling in love with one another and wish it were real.
It's not a movie for young viewers, due to all the lying and deception, which is always wrong. Jennifer's best guy friend is stereotypically gay and helps her shop for her bride gown. And, there is a scene where Jennifer and Vince are kissing in her bed, but before things move on, Jennifer's niece interrupts.
There's a mix of good and bad in this one. In the end, the truth sets them free and love is triumphant!
I imagine this movie will be extra appealing to fans of Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. I know I was glad to see them both, especially Joey, who I've been a fan of all the way back to Gimme a Break. They were quirky and witty and it was just extremely fun to watch their characters spar back and forth! It's a terrific Romantic Comedy that had me laughing throughout.

The Sandlot 3 - Heading Home

MOVIE REVIEW

The Sandlot 3 - Heading Home:
this is the third sequel to the Sandlot Movie Series. This movie stars Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210).

CAST:

Danny Nucci ... Benny Rodriguez
Luke Perry ... Tommy Santorelli
Keanu Pires ... Young Tommy
Sarah Deakins ... Sara Santorelli
Chauncey Leopardi ... Squints
Brandon Olds ... Two Ton
Cole Heppell ... D.P.
Kai James ... Timber
Ryan Drescher ... Wings
Cainan Wiebe ... Ryan
Meshach Peters ... Q
Samuel Patrick Chu ... Wok
Renzo Carbonel ... Roll
Chris Gauthier ... Officer Pork Chop
Paul Jarrett ... Earl Needman

PLOT:

from DVD cover-

Take the field with a new lineup of scrappy sandlot sluggers! Starring Luke Perry as a pampered pro athlete who rediscovers his love for the game, The Sandlot: Heading Home is a pulse-pounding and heartwarming tale about losing your ego, putting your friends first...and winning it all!

Major league baseball superstar Tommy Santorelli (Perry) racks up great numbers at the plate, but his "me-first" attitude drags his team down. But Tommy gets a second chance when he's knocked unconscious by a pitch and wakes up as a 12-year-old on his childhood playing field...the sandlot! Now, with a greedy developer, Earl Needman, threatening to bulldoze the sandlot unless Tommy's ragtag friends can beat Needman's much-better team, Tommy must decide whether to put his own interests first by switching teams...or stay true to his friends by leading them to their greatest victory yet!

Movie Review:

This is such a cute and fun movie series for boys and girls... and grown-ups, too! Especially, if you ever played or loved baseball... then this is the movie for you!

The first two Sandlot Movies have one major issue... Language. I didn't notice this, at all, in this third movie. Perhaps they decided to keep it PG - for the audience the movie is intended for.

I loved how they actually brought two of the original boys back from the first movie... they are all grown up, but looked still very much the same. That was a wonderful addition to this very cute baseball movie.... with great acting by the kids, terrific scenes of baseball playing, and it has many neat links to the first movie... so grab the popcorn and have a Family Movie Night!

See or Skip: See, it's Baseball... as American as Apple Pie!

Princess

MOVIE REVIEW

Princess:

ABCfamily Movie starring Nora Zehetner (Everwood) as Princess Ithaca and Kip Pardue (Remember the Titans)

CAST:

Nora Zehetner ... Ithaca
Kip Pardue ... William
Matthew Edison ... Louis Baxter
Deborah Grover ... Nana
Mallory Margel ... Phoenix
Mayko Nguyen ... Sophie Baxter
Shileen Paton ... Mermaid

PLOT:

from ABCfamily-

“Princess” is a fairytale romance between William, a young man who is lost in life, and the beautiful Princess Ithaca who is cloaked in a mystery that will soon surround William. Their chance meeting at her castle starts them on a journey of intrigue and romance when their two worlds collide as they help one another find their true calling.

William Humphries (Kip Pardue), a twenty something former golden boy currently unemployed and in the middle of a quarter-life crisis, finds himself crashing with Louis and Sophie, his best friends who are expecting a baby. On a whim, William accompanies Louis to an endangered species charity event hosted by the mysterious Princess Ithaca (Nora Zehetner) – an eccentric local legend who is seen out in public only once a year, always in a sparkling tiara and fairy princess gown.

Already in awe of her magnificent castle grounds, nothing prepares William for meeting the stunningly beautiful Ithaca. Later that evening, he manages to have a dance with her, but as they stare into each other’s eyes William’s nerves get the best of him. When he uses a cheesy pick up line, the Princess misunderstands and becomes convinced that William is actually someone she’s been desperate to find – “The Searcher.” Her intensity and conviction leave him speechless and unable to tell her that he is not the man she’s looking for.

William continues to hide the truth as he pursues her romantically, at first as a means to get into the social pages, but later, because, against his own better judgement, he’s falling in love with her. What William discovers is that the beautiful Ithaca is a real life magical princess – from the fairy gowns she wears to the bluebirds that perch on her shoulder. After a visit to her castle in which he is attacked by one mythological creature and invited to witness the birth of another, William learns that Ithaca is The Healer of all the sick and frightened mythical creatures of the world, from unicorns and mermaids to things that go bump in the night.

But Princess Ithaca’s term as The Healer ends on her 25th birthday, and with it goes her power to communicate with the exotic menagerie – some of whom can be dangerous if left to their own devices. The Searcher’s role – the job she thinks William is performing – is to help her find the next generation’s Healer – the next orphaned Princess to whom Ithaca will pass the torch. But the clock is ticking, wasted by William’s deception. As Williams finds himself drawn deeper into Ithaca’s mystery and the drama unfolding around him, his feelings for Ithaca grow, along with the stakes should he fail in his quest. If the deadline passes, all will be lost – no more magical creatures, no more Princesses and the saddest loss of all – no more true love.

Movie Review:

As much as I love all the Disney Princess Animations... as every girl grows up with them -- dreaming and pretending to be a Fairy Tale Princess, and I truly enjoyed the Disney Movie, Enchanted......

But this movie, Princess, brought to us by ABCfamily, was completely not to my liking. I loved all of the princess ball gowns, and the beauty of her castle; however, I did not enjoy the storyline of mythological (some pretty scary) creatures and that this princess was their "Healer". As a Christian, this part of the story did not fit with my values and belief of Jesus, as our Healer. Overall, in my opinion, it was not a very interesting or entertaining fairy-tale.

Unless you like Science-Fiction stuff... I recommend Skipping this one!

Au Pair 3 - Adventure in Paradise

MOVIE REVIEW

Au Pair 3 - Adventure in Paradise:
with the original cast of Gregory Harrison, Heidi Lenhart, Katie Volding, and Jake Dinwiddie. This time the story takes place in Puerto Rico.

CAST:

Gregory Harrison ... Oliver Caldwell
Heidi Lenhart ... Jennifer 'Jenny' Morgan
Katie Volding ... Katie Caldwell
Jake Dinwiddie ... Alex Caldwell
Gerrit Graham ... Rupert
Bradley White ... Walter Hausen
Brian Tester ... Brentfield Academy Headmaster
Kathleen Mealia ... Ariana
Ciaran Tyrrell ... Danny Taylor
Rafa Alvarez ... Bodyguard 2

PLOT:

from ABC Family.:

Au Pair 3 : Adventure in Paradise is the third film in the Au Pair film series.

It's true! 'Au Pair III' is coming soon to ABC Family! The oh-so-eagerly-awaited sequel reunites Heidi Lenhart and Gregory Harrison as Jenny and Oliver -- the au pair and the bazillionaire who fall in love against all odds. Katie Volding and Jake Dinwiddie are back, too, as Katie and Alex, Oliver's precocious kids. Except they're not so kidly anymore. In fact, Oliver's priming Alex to take over the family business, but Alex has other plans. How will Dad react? Let's just say the weather in Puerto Rico -- where the movie takes place -- isn't the only thing that gets heated. Can Jenny save the day again, or will the family vacation by the sea be all washed up?

The Caldwells are back! And a lot has changed since we last saw them. Oliver and Jenny (Gregory Harrison, Heidi Saban) are the proud parents of a one-year-old Sarah. Katie’s (Katie Volding) in College, and Alex (Jake Dinwiddie) just graduated from High School. Like always, they’re the typical family – who just happen to be billionaires. And with so much going on in their lives, Jenny decides they’re all in serious need of a family vacation.

Hello Puerto Rico!

Jenny thinks the tropical paradise is the perfect setting for some family bonding, but Katie and Alex have other plans. Katie sees the trip as a chance to assert her independence as a young women, and Alex sees it as an opportunity to get close to Katie’s hot friend Ariana (Kathleen Mealia), who’s along for the ride. Ariana seems to like Alex too which makes Katie jealous – until she meets a cute local guy named Danny (Ciaran Tyrrell).

It’s the perfect vacation, until Katie acts a little too independent. Then a betrayal is revealed and loyalties are tested, and suddenly there’s trouble in paradise. When one of them is put in danger, the Caldwells pull together and realize that every storm makes a family stronger.

Movie Review:

It was a simple family story. The plot was weak, but it was fun to see the Caldwell family together again and the children all grown up. I was a fan of the two original Au Pair movies when they premiered in 1999 and 2001 on the Family Channel... so I was thrilled when I learned there would be an addition to the story.

I liked that the movie stayed family friendly except for some minor issues... there were slightly revealing bikinis worn on the beach/poolside, one bad word (D--n) was said by Oliver (the father) while he was on the phone upset about his business, a friend betrayed the trust of a friend, and an unmarried couple fell asleep next to one another all night on the beach. This, however, seemed to be very innocent.

The children behaved like typical teenagers... longing more to go out and be with their friends than hang out with their parents and family. Alex was struggling with his decision to go to Art School instead of taking over his Fathers position at CCI. Jenny is also wanting to leave CCI and do more charity work. We never quite learn what Katie wants to do with her life... I kept suspecting that she might want to eventually work with her father, but that was never revealed, in spite of Jenny continually saying she wanted to discuss school with Katie and being interrupted. Oh well... I guess they'll have to do another movie for that issue to be resolved.

Gregory Harrison looked just as handsome as ever, even with his hair graying. I'm not sure if that was just for the movie or how he usually wears his hair these days. Nonetheless, he has always been a nice-looking man. I remember him back to his Trapper John M.D. days as Gonzo. He was the original ER. Plus, I love him in the movie with Olivia Newton John, A Christmas Romance.

The movie ended rather quickly with a fun family moment... of everyone jumping in the pool and having fun! All in all, a fairly good TV family movie.

Another Cinderella Story

MOVIE REVIEW

Another Cinderella Story: Movie starring Selena Gomez (The Wizards of Waverly Place) and Drew Seeley (High School Musical).

CAST:

Selena Gomez ... Mary
Andrew Seeley ... Joey Parker
Jane Lynch ... Dominique Blatt
Katharine Isabelle ... Bree
Jessica Parker Kennedy ... Tami
Emily Perkins ... Britt
Marcus T. Paulk ... Dustin
Nicole LaPlaca ... Natalia

PLOT:

from DVD cover

Dancing ever after... Once upon a time... can happen again.

It's musical. It's magical.

It's Another Cinderella Story, the dancing-ever-after fairy tale. In this joyous update, Selena Gomez (The Wizards of Waverly Place) is Mary, a modern Cinderella complete with dancing shoes instead of a glass slipper. Drew Seeley (High School Musical) is Joey, a Prince Charming and dreamy new-guy-in-school looking for a girl to love. Could Mary be that girl? With your kind of music and dance, your kind of romance and all kinds of surprises, you'll find that Another Cinderella Story is a perfect fit.

Movie Review:

The plot was pretty weak. It resembled High School Musical alot... except the dancing was alot more sensual.

I personally, liked the first, non-musical Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff more. I imagine Camp Rock and High School Musical Fans would be interested in this one, as well. However, I feel this is NOT a movie for young Disney type fans.

As I mentioned, the dancing is rather sensual and suggestive for young teenagers dancing at a school. This is not a good movie for young viewers.

See or Skip:

I must suggest Skipping this movie- Not family friendly.
