"Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas" - Shining a Light on the True Meaning of the Christmas Season

Tonight, well-known actor Kevin Costner (Field of Dreams, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Yellowstone) invites viewers to slow down and remember the true meaning of Christmas in a new primetime special, "Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas."

In partnership with filmmaker David Cunningham, the two-hour presentation retells the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Christ’s birth in a deeply human yet scripture-based way, offering a tender, real look at the hope, fear, and faith surrounding the first Christmas.

What makes this special especially moving is its focus on the vulnerability, courage, and love shared by Mary and Joseph as they answered God’s calling in a time and place marked by violence, instability, and uncertainty. David Cunningham explained their goal was to “bring people back to the reason for the season - the Christ in Christmas.”

Through Kevin Costner’s calm, down-to-earth storytelling and an honest portrayal of the nativity story, this special hopes to draw people nearer to the heart of God during a season that can sometimes feel overshadowed by hustle and distraction. In the midst of it all... the light of Jesus is what truly should shine!

"Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas" will premiere on ABC, Tuesday, December 9th at 8 p.m. EST and will be available to stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

Please know: I have not seen this special, but I am hearing from various sources that it is a wonderful, inspiring retelling of the birth of Jesus that focuses on putting Christ back in Christmas!

I hope you and your family will enjoy this special, moving presentation. I know my family and I are truly looking forward to watching this together.

✨🎅 New "Prep & Landing" Animation to Premiere This Christmas 🎅✨

A brand-new holiday adventure is on the way! 🎅

"Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol" premieres this Thanksgiving, November 27th, on the Disney Channel, with streaming available the very next day on Disney+.

Viewers will once again get to enjoy the delightful antics of the adorable elves, Lanny and Wayne! Plus, the special will air later in the season on ABC and Freeform as part of their well-loved “25 Days of Christmas” celebration!

According to Disney's press release, this cartoon is "marking the franchise's return after more than a decade, "Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol" is the fourth installment in a series of popular animated holiday specials featuring Christmas elves from an elite organization tasked with preparing homes worldwide for Santa's arrival. The new special follows Christmas elves Lanny and Wayne, whose holiday mission goes awry, leaving Wayne convinced he's in major trouble with Santa and accidentally revealing other merry mishaps."

Here's a newly released clip from the cartoon:

These are the previous Prep & Landing Specials:

"Prep & Landing" (2009)
"Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa" (2010)
"Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice" (2011)

Please Note: I haven’t always connected with some of Disney’s more recent projects, especially those with woke content, but I’ve always had a soft spot for this charming "Prep & Landing" series and some of the great Disney classics, like Cinderella, Snow White, Bambi, Toy Story, etc... My hope is that the new special will capture the same innocent, lighthearted fun and sweet spirit that made the previous cartoons such a joy to watch.

Over the weekend, I watched A Little Women's Christmas on Great American Family and thought it was lovely, and I watched Santa Tell Me on the Hallmark Channel, which was cozy and a little zany, sometimes, but in a delightful sort of way.

Tonight I'll probably watch something lighthearted and fun and choose a new movie I haven't seen, yet... To Have and To Holiday, which encores tonight, Monday, November 25th at 6pm/5c. on the Hallmark Channel, followed by one of my favorites, Picture a Perfect Christmas at 8pm/7c.! And, if you're a night owl, like I am, A Christmas Less Traveled encores tonight on Great American Family at 10pm/9c.!

Happy ONE MONTH

'til Christmas, Everyone!

Wishing you all...

Wednesday, December 9, 2020:

When the sun goes down, brighten up your night with...

*The Great Christmas Light Fight*

Details via ABC: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas as ABC's tree-mendously popular decorating competition series, "The Great Christmas Light Fight," takes over Wednesdays in December as it returns for its eighth season with back-to-back episodes starting WEDNESDAY DEC 9 at 8/7c, for three consecutive weeks. America's brightest houses bring joy to the world with the help of celebrity judges – lifestyle expert Carter Oosterhouse and famed interior designer Taniya Nayak.

All isn't always calm, but all is definitely bright as the Christmas classic takes viewers across the country to the most elaborate and awe-inspiring holiday displays in the nation. This holiday season, we will once again see four fantastic families face off in each one-hour episode and compete to win $50,000 should they "sleigh" the competition. Taking Christmas decorating to another level, the Heavyweights special will return for its third year featuring a first-ever parade of one-of-a-kind sparkling floats and a mile-long drive-through with over a million synchronized lights, to name a few, that viewers will never forget.

It's a live stage production that's anything but dull - with the premiere of...

*Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Musical!*

*CAUTION: I have not pre-screened this; therefore, I do not know if the content or dialogue is family friendly. Please use your own discretion - if you choose to watch. To be honest, my favorite version of "The GRINCH" is the old classic animation. Some children are often very frightful of the movie version, and this one, in my opinion, looks rather creepy, too. So please beware - for your little ones. See trailer below.

The movie stars New York Times bestselling author and singer, Lea Michele, who is known for her role as Rachel Berry on the Fox hit series "Glee."

In "Same Time, Next Christmas," Lea Michele will play the lead role of Olivia Henderson, a young woman who met her childhood sweetheart during her family's annual Christmas visit to Hawaii. After being separated by distance and years, the two reunite at the same Hawaii resort years later and the old chemistry between them flares up anew - but circumstances conspire to keep them apart.

In addition, Lea Michele is set to release her first Christmas album this coming holiday.

"This holiday season holds special importance to me as I get to celebrate both my role in this film and my first-ever holiday album," said Lea Michele. "I'm honored to return to ABC with this movie event, and I am excited to share the holidays with everyone."

"Same Time, Next Christmas" is executive produced by EveryWhere Studios' Tom Mazza and David Culvert Jones, while Stephen Herek ("Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors," "Mr. Holland's Opus and "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure") is set to direct. The movie is produced by Freeform Studios for ABC.
