A Gunfighter's Pledge

MOVIE REVIEW

A Gunfighter's Pledge A.K.A. The Pledge:

Hallmark Channel cowboy style movie starring Luke Perry (Dillion from Beverly Hills 90210). This movie is NOT suitable for children or tweens due to extreme and vivid Western Style Gun Violence.

CAST:

Luke Perry ... Matt
Jaclyn DeSantis ... Amaya
Kim Coates ... Tate
C. Thomas Howell ... Horn
Francesco Quinn ... Sheriff Montero
Wyatt Smith ... Billy

PLOT:

A man gives a pledge to return money to a dying man’s widow and when he does, gets caught up in her fight to save her ranch from powerful men in the town who want the land for the water rights.

Movie Review:

I couldn't believe I was watching a made-for-TV Hallmark Movie. The Gunslinging violence was intense... and we are not just talking about a high noon - in the middle of town, show down. In the opening of the movie, Matt's (Luke Perry) wife and son are violently shot and killed. And the violence continues from there - throughout the film.

It's a true Western Style Movie... in the sprit of the movie, Open Range. There is finally at the end of the movie, a mix of redemption and justice for Luke Perry's character... though he never seems to be fully happy again, even after he has fought for and sought his revenge.

This Scripture may explain why:

Romans 12:19
"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."

See or Skip:

I do enjoy some westerns, when the good guys beat the bad guys... but I must suggest... Skipping this one, due to very intense violence.

  1. This movie is extremely violent? Compared to Toy Story maybe. But compared to The Wild Bunch?
