 "Murder She Baked: A Plum Pudding Mystery!"

Storyline via Hallmark: The Cookie Jar's busiest time of the year also happens to be the most wonderful time...for Christmas cookies, Hannah's own special plum pudding . She's busy as can be and loving it. She also gets a kick out of 'Lunatic Larry Jaeger's Crazy Elf Christmas Tree Lot', a kitschy carnival taking place smack-dab in the middle of the village green. Larry thinks he's crazy like a fox with his wild business schemes, but this time, the entrepreneur may have bitten off more than he can chew. Rumor has it that Larry's in the red - an idea that takes a sinister turn when Hannah discovers he's dead in his own office...It seems there are quite a few suspects - including his bitter ex-wife, his ex-partner's daughter, a woman he was wooing, and the Crazy Elf Tree lot's extremely exasperated investors...Now, with so many suspects to investigate and the twelve days of Christmas ticking away, Hannah's running out of time to nab a murderous Scrooge who doesn't want her to see the New Year.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will air two movies that have holiday related scenes.

First, in the movie "A Kiss at Midnight" at 7pm/6c. via Hallmark: "successful professional matchmaker Amy Flowers makes a New Year's Eve resolution to finally find a love match for herself." Stars Faith Ford, Dyan Cannon and Hal Linden.

This movie mostly celebrates New Years. At the beginning, they are actually taking down their Christmas decorations.

Then, in the movie "Falling in Love with the Girl Next Door" at 9pm/8c. via Hallmark: "Patty Duke and Shelley Long are a young couple’s worst nightmare as the mothers who can’t let go of a twenty-five-year-old feud long enough to hear the words - I Do." Also stars Patrick Duffy and Bruce Boxleitner.

This movie spans several holidays... Halloween, in great detail, and Christmas, as I recall, is shown very quickly! Still, it's a hint of the holiday season! I thought you might enjoy these Holiday related Hallmark movies as we unwind from the Christmas season!

In case, any of you sleuthing Mystery fans are curious, Alison Sweeney and Barbara Niven have shared via Twitter - there will be a new "Murder She Baked" movie filmed soon... so stay tuned!

A Christmas Dog & Bunny make Two More "New" Christmas Movies!

Surprise! I thought last weekend would be the very last of "New" Christmas Movies on TV... however, there will be 2 more NEW Christmas Movies being played this weekend!!!

You won't find them on the Hallmark Channel or ABC Family and both Movies have two actresses who are well known from their early sitcom days. The first one is "The Dog who Saved the Holidays" starring Dean Cain, Elisa Donovan, the Voice of Joey Lawrence, and Shelley Long (Cheers). This is the 4th Movie in this series - details here. PLEASE NOTE: This will be airing on local channels: the CW and FOX. It could be scheduled differently in your area! It’s fun to see these new movies, but I know many of us are still looking for our favorite classics, as well... and this weekend you can see the 1947 version of “Miracle on 34th Street”(I believe!!!), “White Christmas” (one of my favorites... “the best things happen while you’re dancing...), and the classic 1951 Alastair Sim version of “A Christmas Carol” on TCM. However, if the Alastair Sim version is not your “Christmas Carol” favorite... then AMC has the George C. Scott and Reginald Owen versions, too!

So, whether you plan to stay in the Christmas Past or Present, may you have a Wonderful Weekend!

Hallmark's Summer Movie & a GMC Drama...

The Hallmark MOVIE Channel will be premiering their newest movie, Strawberry Summer, this weekend. This looks to be a "near-the-end-of-summer" sweet family-flick!


The GMC Network, in the meantime, is premiering a more serious looking drama, titled: Somebody’s Child.

PLOT:

After abandoning a dream years ago, it will take the dedication of an ambitious teenager to get an ex-Olympian back in the game in “Ice Dreams.”

When U.S. Olympian Amy Clayton’s (Cauffiel) father died trying to get his daughter to
practice on time, it only seemed right to hang up her skates for good, even if it meant disappointing her mother, Harriet (Long). But the call of the run-down Mid City Ice Rink was too strong to ignore, and having worked out a deal with Skipper (Stiller) and the owner the rink, Amy has continued to skate privately.

When the owner passes away, he leaves the rink to his nephew, Tim King (Smith), who arrives to decide the property’s fate. Having skated there for years as a kid, Tim knows what the rink means to the few who still frequent it, among them aspiring figure skater Nicky Laston (Noelle Bruno). But the offer from developers to buy the property is tempting, and with dwindling funds, Tim is finding it almost impossible to keep the rink open.

Meanwhile, Nicky and her mom find out that Amy is skating at Mid City, and convince
the reluctant (and broke) ex-Olympian to coach Nicky. Although reluctant at first, Amy recognizes Nicky’s dedication and talent, and through coaching the ambitious young skater, she has the chance to reevaluate her own dreams, even the one she thought she had left behind.


Movie Review:

For anyone who likes ice skating, I'm certain you would also enjoy this movie. There's nothing in it that children can't see... which means it is safe for family viewing, as most Hallmark Channel Movies are! (Thank you, Hallmark! There's a reason why people enjoy your wholesome Family Movies... they're a rarity among the other Channels!)

Nicky, the ex-Olympian and barely getting by Waitress, finds herself back at the ice rink more and more, inspite of her avoiding it publicly in the past due to her own past issues. She learns to deal with losing her father and she and her Mother strenghten their relationship.... just as Nicky and the Ice Rink's New Owner, Tim start skating and dating one another.

Shelley Long, who plays the Mother, is a refreshing part of the story... very witty & funny!


When funds are low, Nicky tells her Mother... "It's the Economy!" I thought this was a very realistic comment that hits home with a lot of people today.

Also, when Nicky asks Amy to practice on the ice again the next Morning, she says... " I can't, I have Church. " I liked this comment. It was refreshing to see a show with a teenager who has goals and strong faith.

Can Tim & Nicky save the rink from being sold... in spite of lack of business?

I'll just say... it's a Sweet Story with a Hallmark Happy Ending!
