Christmas in July movies will end this weekend on GAC Family and the Hallmark Channel. I'll be sad to see them go, but now we'll have a whole new season of Christmas movies to look forward to!

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will have a new non-murder style mystery this Sunday night with 14 Love Letters. It's a case of - 'who sent the historic love letters?' I'm curious to see who the sender might be???

Also, America lost a true TV legend this week, with the passing of actor, Tony Dow, from Leave it to Beaver. Somehow, I feel like I've lost a dear old friend. Do you feel that way, too? My parents grew up watching the show, and I grew up watching them with my family, too, in reruns. There's nothing quite like those funny and heartwarming family-friendly sitcom classics. FETV and MeTV will each pay tribute this weekend to Tony Dow (America's big brother, Wally) with their own special memoriam marathons.

See all the movie and marathon details below...

Tony Dow Tributes
Leave it to Beaver
on fetv and MeTV

Sadly, actor Tony Dow (Wally Cleaver, the big brother on Leave it to Beaver) passed away this week on Wednesday, July 27th, from cancer. He was 77 years old. I personally still love catching those classic Leave it to Beaver shows in reruns. The series originally aired on TV from 1957 until 1963. There are so many valuable lessons that still can be learned in each episode. I am so grateful to have most of the Leave it to Beaver series on DVD from Amazon. They certainly don't make shows like it any more, where the children respect their parents and the parents lovingly care for and guide their children.

Jerry Mathers (Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver) shared this heartfelt message with Fox News Digital for his TV brother after his passing...

He was not only my brother on TV but, in many ways, in life as well. Tony leaves an empty place in my heart that won’t be filled. He was always the kindest, most generous, gentle, loving, sincere and humble man that it was my honor and privilege to be able to share memories together for 65 years. Tony was so grateful for all the love and support from our fans across the world.”

Storyline: After historic love letters start anonymously appearing in Kallie Sharp's mailbox, the hobby farmer searches for her secret admirer and opens herself up to love.

Premieres Sunday, July 31, 2022
at 9pm/8c. on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

I hope you all have a pleasant weekend and enjoy the new movies.

This weekend, I'm going to pick Sweet as Pie as the movie I'm most excited to see. All the images for the movie, especially the ones in the apple orchard, look rather appealing. I always seem to be drawn to the movies that take place in a country setting. Hopefully, it ends up being as sweet as it looks!

Please note: I have not pre-screened the new movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

We do have an early review for 14 Love Letters. Florence, who is a loyal follower here, shared this review with us:

๐Ÿ’•✉ "Got the chance to see 14 Love Letters and the good news is that it is definitely family friendly. It seems that the movies Hallmark buy in never quite measure up to their own productions and half way through this seemed to be the case. Basically Kallie (Vanessa Sears) was receiving anonymous historical love letters in her mailbox and had to figure out who was sending them, there was also the subplot of a neighbour wanting to buy her home for the land to set up a riding stable and she didn't want to sell. It was hard to get into and plodded along and then it was as if someone suddenly turned a switch and the movie took off for the second half was really good. I remember Franco Lo Pesti from his UPtv movie The Story Of Love with Brittany Bristow earlier this year and he's certainly a hunk - I thought he and Vanessa Sears whom I was unfamiliar with teamed well. I knew right from the beginning who was sending the letters - or I thought I did - I was wrong!! Overall probably worth a watch. Florence's rating 4 for the first half, 8 for the second so a 6" ~Florence" (Thank you so much, Florence, for sharing this with us! I always love reading your reviews and getting your take!)

Do you have a movie pick for the weekend, or would you like to share your thoughts on the passing of the Leave it to Beaver star, Tony Dow? Please share in comments below...

I'll be tuning into the Leave it to Beaver marathons on Sunday afternoon and thinking of Tony Dow fondly. Tony's son, Christopher, shared this loving message on Facebook the day his father passed: "Although this is a very sad day, I have comfort and peace that he is in a better place. He was the best Dad anyone could ask for. He was my coach, my mentor, my voice of reason, my best friend, my best man in my wedding, and my hero." What a beautiful, touching tribute. My heart and prayers go out now to his dear family and friends.

My prayers are also with those in Kentucky dealing with horrific flooding and loss of life. Please take care and be safe, everyone, especially if you are near this area.

Blessings to you all, Net

Marry Me in Yosemite

Starring: Cindy Busby and Tyler Harlow

Storyline: Zoe (Busby) is a top photojournalist who has published successful coffee table books featuring her images of iconic places. Her publisher wants her next subject to be Yosemite, so she heads west despite not being sure she can do justice to the majesty of the landscape. While there, she meets Jack (Harlow), an intriguing tour guide who opens her eyes to new possibilities as they take a journey together.

Movie Review:

๐Ÿ’• "Marry me in Yosemite is scenic, funny and clean (thankfully), except it gets a bit political 1 hour in. Which I'm not a fan of at all. All in all, a clean movie, except it could've been better without the liberal political approach of 'we were the evil invaders and not the other way around'. -Maria"

๐Ÿ’• "Marry Me in Yosemite is family friendly. Zoe Best is a photojournalist to National Park at Yosemite whose sent by her Boss back home where she works. Zoe meets Sage Miorningstar whose works at Resources when she hands Zoe some brochures by asking about Park Ranger or Tour Guide. Sage sends Zoe to her Grandfather’s store to tell him about Jake Hawkins. Zoe meets Kosimay Wilson, he nicknamed Kosi when he hands Zoe a stone to lead her all the way to find Jake.who loves classic song from Beethoven. Zoe manages to take pictures by writing the books. Zoe asks Jake to marry her without wedding guests. Jake & Zos are getting married in Yosemite." ~Anonymous

๐Ÿ’• "We enjoyed "Marry Me in Yosemite," mostly to get an inside view of the park. That part didn't disappoint, but Cindy Busby was so LOUD in this that it was distracting and jarring. Wish she, and her equally loud cell phone ring tone, would lower the volume quite a bit. The ending was bizarre, with her taking the one great photo of Yosemite that she was looking for the whole time - and then they never showed it to the audience!" ~Amy G

Marry Go Round

Many years later, Abby’s life seems perfect as she gets ready for a new life in Paris along with her soon-to-be husband, Edward. Movie Reviews:

๐ŸŽ  "Marry Go Round is very sweet! And I can also recommend it because it's clean!" :) -Maria

๐ŸŽ  "Marry Go Round was excellent. Just the right touch of drama and romance. Although you wanted to knock some sense into the mother. Brennan Elliott and Amanda Schull are amazing." – Melissa

๐ŸŽ  "Marry Go Round... This was probably the best Hallmark film I've seen in awhile. It was family friendly. Brendan Elliott and Amanda Schull were so great together. So much chemistry between the two. Felt real. I loved the plot and how the character Luke did not want to end the marriage. It's supposed to be a lifetime commitment. When they say they love each other in the courtroom, I cried. It was so sweet. I want to see it again. I'm going to buy it on DVD when it (eventually) comes out. Watch it, it won't disappoint!๐Ÿ˜€" ~Abigail

๐ŸŽ  "Marry Go Around is family friendly. Abby Foster is a successful Executive is moving to Paris with her fiancรฉ Edward Timsdale & planning to marry & life is perfect until she she gets a letter & learns her divorce to her high school sweetheart named Luke Walker isn’t exactly official. They learn to love each other. They had a short-lived marriage after high school, reconnect, & reminisce about their past. When Abby arrives back in her hometown for a court hearing she runs into Luke and quickly learns he has no intention of finalizing this divorce anytime soon. Abby’s Mother named Emily finally reveals a secret she has been keeping from her daughter that explains what really happened so many years ago. Abby now has a choice to make. she face the truth about what she has always felt for Luke or stick to the plan when she thought her life was so perfect just before she change her mind. Abby & Luke are both in Paris. Abby notices her engagement ring ๐Ÿ’ in champagne ๐Ÿพ glass when Luke asks Abby to marry him again." ~Anonymous

๐ŸŽ  "Marry Go Round is such a sweet, family friendly movie. I truly felt the connection between Abby (Amanda Schull) and Luke (Brennan Elliott), even after all the years apart. Their chemistry felt magnetic, like they were drawn together. It was nice, also, that Abby's fiancรฉ (Zak Santiago, Signed, Sealed, Delivered) was portrayed as a nice guy, but simply not THE guy for her. The secret from the past is deep and hurtful, but it was nice to see the unity of family and forgiveness." ~Net

Wedding of a Lifetime

Starring: Brooke D'Orsay and Jonathan Bennett

Premieres: Saturday, September 17, 2022

Storyline: Darby (D’Orsay) and Jake (Bennett) are an engaged couple who have been together since their days as high school sweethearts in a close-knit mountain town. Over the years, they have found themselves in a rut and drifting apart. When their entire community nominates them to compete for an all-expenses paid wedding in a nationally televised contest, this just may be what the couple needs to rekindle their romance.

Movie Reviews:

๐Ÿ’• "I wouldn't consider Wedding of a Lifetime family friendly. The entire premise is they have been living together during their ten year engagement and have drifted apart. I really don't know anything else because I'm not going to finish it. I miss the days when Hallmark still had engaged couples saying goodbye at the end of the night and the parents put one of them in the guest room. What's sadly how called "old fashioned." ๐Ÿ˜ž ~melnewlife

๐Ÿ’• Wedding of a Lifetime is family friendly with a lot of laughs when it’s hilarious & funny. Darby Sinclair & Jake Johnson have been engaged for 10 years since they’re High School Sweetheart & they decide to break it off go their separate ways just before they can tell their families of the breakup but they’re recently separated couple rekindle their romance when they're inadvertently entered into a nationally televised contest to compete for an all-expenses-paid Wedding. They learn that the whole town has nominated the two to participate in a reality competition show for engaged couples with the grand prize It’s Reality Show: Hey Good Day Wedding of a Lifetime." ~Anonymous

๐Ÿ’• "Wedding in a Lifetime is so weird endings - Jake & Darby’s faux Wedding or lifetime in separate ways & although someone mentioned bridal party. Will Darby and Jake's now-faux engagement be discovered or will the competition rekindle their romance?" ~Anonymous

Fly Away With Me

Starring: Natalie Hall and Peter Mooney

Premieres: Saturday, September 24, 2022

Storyline: When Angie (Hall) moves into her “no pets allowed” building, a parrot arrives unexpectedly. New neighbor Ted (Mooney) and the dog he’s secretly sitting try to help her find the bird’s owner without being caught.

Movie Reviews:

✈ "Fly Away with Me was really cute and funny. It was family friendly except maybe this one part in the beginning? I was folding laundry, and not really paying attention, but I think Angie's roommate had her boyfriend spend the night. However, that relationship is never shown again, and like I said, I was distracted. Anyways, my 11 year old daughter came in after that and watched it with me. There was nothing I objected to her seeing. What's more, we had so much fun watching it together! It was so funny, we were constantly laughing, and the animals were so cute! I thought it sounded like a weird premise, but it actually worked. This one is a favorite for me." ~Melnewlife

✈ "Fly Away With Me is family friendly. Angie won a rental lottery & she moved to no pet apartment. A certainly macaw ๐Ÿฆœ named Gil who owned by a last tenant named Ruthie on level 15 into Angie’s apartment. Angie meets next door neighbor named Ted who dogsits his Sister’s dog names Zoe. Gil’s owner named Ruthie passed away last few months ago according to elderly lady at an elderly home. Ted’s Sister call her Brother Netherland & she tells him there’s no place for dog. Ted is now owns by his Sister’s dog named Zoe. Kyle & Gianna are out on the date. Angie is now owned macaw. So, Ted & Angie are something in common. Louie calls people with animals as such as dogs, hamsters, etc… Louie owns hamsters" ๐Ÿน ~Anonymous

✈ "Fly Away With Me... I loved this movie! It was family friendly, funny, wonderful chemistry between the two of them and that dog was adorable! I loved how we see her bond with the bird and then you see it's a special bond between the four of them. I know, kinda cheesy, but really sweet! And I also just adored how Lewis was in on it at the end. It was a precious film and I want to buy it when it comes out on DVD. I hope we see a sequel sometime. There was a tiny problem in the beginning. Her friend's boyfriend stayed the night and you see him the next morning. I was going to fast forward it but it only lasted a couple of seconds." ~Abigail

All premieres are 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Movie Review:

๐Ÿ’• "Love’s Portrait is family friendly. There’s deaf young woman named Pamela whose who works at Lily’s museum. Lily is a museum curator discovers a painting that is the spitting image of herself & travels to Ireland to find out more about it & search of its provenance. While there her search leads her to the local post office run by siblings William & Saoirse. Someone sent portrait from Ireland ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช to America where Lily works. His name is Jonathan O’Brien recognizes Lily from paintings when his Wife; Alannah passed away few months ago. Lily & William meet Cara is deaf who works at the Irish cemetery. Cara leads them to James O”Brown’s tombstone. There’s flowers in portrait are called; “Easter “Lilies”. It’s seem familiar from one of my all-time favorite movies is Somewhere in Time starring Jane Seymour & Christopher Reeve. In it, a present-day playwright is visited by an old woman who gives him a pocket watch & a cryptic message. He later becomes enamored with a Victorian-era image of a woman & learns it's the same woman who visited him previously. William did paint Lily. William’s Mother’s favorite flowers. When William was 8 years old when he woke up from his dream with faint image of hers? Since William was teenager who sketched of Image of Lily whose looked like hers became painting. Lily searched the answers to find painter. William had moved on with his from Rachel when Lily walked into his life just like a fate. Lily has to go home to home to America where she lives. Michelle tells Lily that William’s Lily’s soulmate. Jojo hands Lily, a bunch of Easter Lilies on front desk from a guy named William outside of the museum. Lily goes to see William in the gardens. Saoirse gives her Brother, William some advice to go after Lily to America. Believe in fate in which brought William & Lily together. Although William flew to America to be with Lily. The painting is in the new exhibit at the gallery. 1) Fate is the painting came to Lily 2) 2nd fates, 1st her sweetheart Greg but now is William Lily & William deserve to be loved.& happy. They drawn together when they first met to believe in fate of red string. Red string of fate in which it’s bring 2 people together." ~Anonymous

๐Ÿ’• "Love’s Portrait - The movie is good but for two people supposedly natives of Ireland they have no accents. My in-laws were immigrants and I know what the accent sounds like." ~Anonymous

However, when Kayla receives some teaching opportunities that would take her away from Stansville -- and Jordan -- she finds that her heart may still have a few things to teach her about what will make her happy.

Movie Review:

๐ŸŽ "To Her, With Love is family friendly. Kayla Harris heads back to her North Carolina hometown in Stoneville, Carolina after her substitute teaching job at a private high school comes to an early end. On her first day back, her loving yet inquisitive mother sets up a job interview at her alma mater, where she & another teacher try to save the art department. Kayla, who ultimately wants to get into a competitive teaching program in London, is hesitant to apply. However, when she is offered the job on the spot, shortly after learning that her high school best friend Tanya is a teacher there, she quickly accepts. When Kayla initially struggles to connect with her students, Jordan is a jack-of-all-trades teacher who is devoted to supporting underserved students, steps in to help? Though reluctant to accept his input at first, she is soon inspired to try a fresh approach to help each of her students tap into their unique artistic passions and her students begin flourishing…” Emma attempts to play flute with note sheet with Kayla’s help who also plays flute when she got flute from her Mom as they musical instruments along the way. Kayla tells Emma about Shanice. Kayla left town for taking a job in Charlotte. Jordan won’t let her Kayla since they saved Art ๐Ÿ–ผ with Tanya. Kayla & Jordan watch move called; “To Sir, With Love “." ~Anonymous

๐ŸŽ " "To Her, With Love" is a joy! Skye Marshall in the female leading role is as charismatic and warm as can be. The movie has a different feel than most - it was filmed in N. Carolina, and it has really cool jazzy background music. It is very fun, positive and heart warming. I've loved every movie I've ever seen where a high school teacher is trying to better the lives of her students - and this is another one to add to that list. Give it a try!" ~Anonymous

Francesca Quinn, PI

Starring: Mallory Jansen and Dylan Bruce

Premieres: Sunday, September 25, 2022

Storyline: When private investigator Francesca “Frankie” Quinn’s (Jansen) fiancรฉ is murdered, his sister hires her to find the killer. Frankie must work with Wyn (Bruce), the local detective assigned to the case…who also happens to be her ex. As the one-time couple joins forces to unravel a serpentine plot, the investigation strikes at their hearts.

Movie Review:

๐Ÿ”Ž "I watched Francesca Quinn and felt it was more of a true mystery. Had the feeling of a Hailey Dean mystery. Music was annoying though. Not sure if it’s me or TV but have been having trouble hearing some of dialog clearly. Commercials seem clear but movies sound different. I even use closed captioning sometimes. Curious if anyone else is experiencing this" ~JoCo

๐Ÿ”Ž "Francesca Quinn PI... I was happy that this film was family friendly, but it was really depressing. Not really enjoyable to watch. There is absolutely no comedy like Aurora or Hailey Dean, which I really love in a mystery and it was also hard to follow. I do think it's one of those you have to watch more than once to fully understand. But it was clean, that was a good thing. JoCo, it wasn't just you. I noticed the sound was poorly done as well. It was hard to understand while the music played. Almost made a buzzing sound. When the main character speaks as commentary(with the music in the background) it reminded me of some Nancy Drew PC games my brother and I used to play." ~Abigail

๐Ÿ”Ž "I thought Francesca Quinn was a welcome addition to the mystery genre and am anxious for a sequel. It is good that a mystery is complex enough that it might require multiple viewings to fully appreciate it. The characters were well done and I am cheering for Frankie and Wyn!" ~Anonymous

๐Ÿ”Ž "I'm with Anonymous on this. I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery. I'm a big fan of both Mallory Jansen and Dylan Bruce so perhaps I was predisposed to like but I would hope that this would not affect my judgement. It wasn't a typical Hallmark thriller - it was tense and atmospheric throughout - the chemistry between the two stars was off the scale - simmering below the surface the entire movie and making the relationship between them mesmerising. I would agree with others here about the music though,it did at times overpower the action. The secondary characters all carried themselves well and I loved the relationship between Frankie and her father. This movie illustrattes how IMDb can be manipulated - it has a current rating of 6.2, however since the majority of the written reviews are awarding it 3 or less then this means that there has to be a corresponding mark at the top of the range to arrive at the overall figure. The more I read through the reviews the more suspicious I became. They all sounded eerily alike as if they were coming from the same source - most were clamouring to have Aurora, Mystery 101 etc back. This was similar to the situation with Feeling Butterflies - there were literally dozens of reviews lauding it giving it mostly 10 but as the final rating was below 6.5 for every one of these there had to be a 3 or less to balance this out. On investigating further I discovered most of these reviewers usually only also reviewed When Calls The Hearft praising Kevin McGarry and slating Chris McNally, some even going as far as digging up old movies of McNally and suddenly deciding to review and denigrate them! Speaks for itself. It's being said that it is obvious who the killer is from the start - it's hard to say anything without revealing too much but while there may be some merit to this it is not the whole story and the plot is more complex than this would suggest. There is a very interesting rumour going about that this is actually the final ending to Mystery 101 but with different characters - apparently the screenwriters are the same. I actually don't thimk this is as far-fetched as it might sound. I was a bit let down by the ending - NO KISS! - they did nothing more than hold hands - in other movies Hallmark have even had same sex couples hugging. I don't think there's any further to go with Frankie and Wyn's personal relationship but I would certainly love to see them work another case together. This is more thriller-focused and there aren't the light-hearted touches which have been a feature of many of the Hallmark Mystery franchises so I appreciate that this would not be to the taste of many in this Forum." Florence's rating - 9 (the music precludes a 10).

There seems to be some potentially interesting movies here. I'm most intrigued to see Francesca Quinn, PI (it's nice to see a mystery movie on HMM again), and Fly Away With Me (looks like a cute comedy - with animals!).

Which movie (or movies) sounds interesting to you? Please share your thoughts on the new September movies in comments below...

Note: I haven't pre-screened these movies. If you like, you can share a movie review in comments after the movie premieres. Thank you!
