Actor Victor Webster to replace Cameron Mathison in the new Hannah Swensen Mystery!

According to the new TVInsider article, Webster will replace Mathison as Alison Sweeney's crime-solving co-star; however, based on the plot given below, Victor will be portraying an all-new character and not Detective Mike Kingston.

The storyline via TVInsider... "The new installment is based on the novel Apple Turnover Murder by Joanne Fluke, in which Hannah has been asked to teach a baking class at the college in town. When a colleague ends up dead, Hannah begins to put together the puzzle of the mysterious circumstances surrounding the murder. During the investigation, Hannah meets a different side of law and order when Lake Eden’s prosecuting attorney, Chad Norton (Webster), enters her life."

Other casting news for the fourth movie in the Hannah Swensen series includes the returns of Gabriel Hogan (Norman), Barbara Niven (Delores), Tess Atkins (Michelle), and Lisa Durupt (Andrea).

Alison Sweeney not only stars in One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery with her Wedding Veil co-star, Victor Webster, she also produced and wrote this new Hannah Swensen mystery, which will premiere later this year on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.


My Quick Take:

Wow! I'm truly in shock over this casting news. I never dreamed they would replace Cameron Mathison in the Hannah Swensen Mysteries. I know Cameron has signed with Great American Family to do films for their network, but I did not think his contract would be exclusive, giving him the flexibility to possibly make movies for Hallmark, as well. But apparently, that's not the case. How interesting.

I'm wondering how this will go over with Hannah Swensen fans. To be honest, I'm not crazy about this turn of events. For so long, we waited for Hannah and Mike to be together, and now this. When the series switched from Murder, She Baked to Hannah Swensen, there were already some subtle changes... a new movie title, the town's name, new policemen, Hannah's sister Andrea left (initially) along with her husband, Bill, and then, there was the arrival of a new sister, Michelle, and so on...

I think fans took most of those changes in stride, except for Andrea's leaving. I believe it was the viewers endlessly requesting for her to come back - is why they brought her back in the last installment, and it is good to see Andrea will be back again in this next Hannah Swensen Mysteries, but I can't help but wonder if that is only to attempt to soothe it over with viewers the fact that former cast regular Cameron Mathison is no longer in the series.

Should be interesting to see viewer reaction.

I love the scene pictured above in A Lot Like Christmas when they give the mother in the movie a group hug. In spite of the possibility of losing their business, they look on the positive and feel so blessed to have each other and good friends!

Storyline: Danielle (Tamera Mowry-Housley), a one-time off-Broadway performer and former backup singer, and Claire (Chelsea Hobbs), a once-aspiring dancer, both had dreams of making it to the Broadway stage. Many failed auditions and years later, Danielle is married Mark (Roger Cross), a successful lawyer, and has a ballerina daughter, who is positioned for NYC ballet, living in the Upper East Side. Claire is a single mother raising two sons and working as a bookkeeper in the Garment District. Now consumed with motherhood, they no longer have time for themselves and have deferred their own dreams. Danielle’s brother RJ (Andrew J. Hampton) introduces the two after Claire begins taking classes at his dance studio. Sweeney returns as Hannah Swensen, everyone's favorite crime-solving baker. The discovery of a skeleton amid the rubble of a building undergoing renovation reveals that one of Lake Eden's beloved citizens is not who he claimed to be. Much to the dismay of her fiancé, Detective Mike Kingston (Mathison), Hannah begins to investigate the case on her own. As she tries to piece together the events that led to the murder and tries to learn the victim's true identity, Hannah even calls on her mother, Delores (Niven), as she works to bring the killer to justice and uncover the truth.

My Quick Take:

It's nice to see not only a new mystery but a familiar one at that, which first began on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries as Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery in 2015! This series got a new start and a new title in 2021 with Hannah Swensen Mysteries, but you'll still see most of the same beloved characters from the original series. Speaking of that, I haven't heard whether or not either sister will be in this movie. I was hoping since fans missed Andrea (portrayed by Lisa Durupt) in the previous movie, they might bring her back for this one. However, since there isn't any word there, I'm thinking that isn't a good sign. Have any of you heard or seen anything regarding this? I sure would love to see Hannah and Andrea crime-solving together again!

"The Clue to Love" is such a cute rom-com with charming banter that revolves around a newspaper business and stars Rachel Bles (“Cooking Up Love”) as Audrey Harper and Travis Milne (who I just loved as Charlie Baker in “A Gift Wrapped Christmas”) as Morgan Cooper. Both are newspaper reporters; however, Audrey is learning to write her stories with a little more heart, as Morgan, the Editor in Chief, has shown in his award-winning articles. As Audrey shadows Morgan at the Hope Cove Beacon Newspaper, she discovers the identity of the person who writes the infamous local advice column, Ask Aunt Hope, is a secret, and she is determined to figure out who the person is. Morgan and Audrey have wonderful chemistry together, and there’s some interesting tension at the newspaper on whether or not Morgan’s father will sell the family business. Plus, Morgan is beginning to wonder if he can trust Audrey, since she is connected with the big city newspaper that wants to purchase Hope Cove’s small town paper. Overall, here’s my exclusive scoop… "The Clue to Love" is a charming story with a little bit of mystery and heartfelt moments. I do have to caution that there is one brief comment from a male co-worker near the beginning of the movie about his husband. I believe that is the only time this is mentioned." ~Net

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! If your weather is getting colder, like ours here in the Midwest, keep warm, everyone, and hopefully, you can snuggle up under a cozy blanket and enjoy one of these movies (or more!) this weekend. My #1 recommendation is the Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies that are filled with heartwarming stories, love, friendships, and incredible lost-letter mysteries, that often take a lot of determination and faith to complete.

I'm also looking forward to this last Wedding Veil movie, hoping it is also a good one, like the previous five (mostly). It looks like it will be fun to see the three best friends vacationing together again, this time in Greece.

I have pre-screened the new UPtv movie, The Clue to Love. It is such a cute movie, and I like both of the leads very much, but there was one brief comment of caution. Please be sure to read my and Karen's reviews above.

Unfortunately, there isn't a new movie on Great American Family this weekend; however, the network will still be airing rom-coms from 12pm-10pm on Saturday and a marathon of Columbo mysteries on Sunday.

Plus, Hallmark Drama will have their own marathon on Sunday with the family series, The Waltons.

STUDIO CITY, CA - May 18, 2021 - Award-winning actress Alison Sweeney ("Days of our Lives") is bringing fan favorite character Hannah Swensen back and reuniting with Cameron Mathison ("Home & Family) and Barbara Niven ("Chesapeake Shores") to reprise their roles in an all-new "Hannah Swensen Mysteries" for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, which begins production this week in Vancouver. Sweeney also serves as executive producer of this movie, which will air in Summer 2021.

"I'm so excited to revisit Hannah Swensen and to again work with Cameron and Barbara on these fun stories that combine romance with intrigue. The fans have been so vocal in their love of these characters and it's exciting to be bringing them back to life and to return to Hannah's bakery where it all began," said Sweeney.

In the new mystery, Hannah (Sweeney) and Mike Kingston (Mathison), enjoy finally being engaged while still managing their busy careers. However, a murder at Hannah's gym may complicate their wedding plans as Hannah's need for sleuthing again impact's Mike's investigation.

This Hannah Swenson Mysteries is produced by Sweeney, Craig Baumgarten and Lighthouse Pictures. The series is based on the Hannah Swensen mysteries series of books by Joanne Fluke.

What a delicious treat we have to look forward to this Summer! I'm super excited to share we will have more mysteries from this series, even if they have given it a whole new name! Hope this will be the first of many Hannah Swensen mysteries with Alison Sweeney, Cameron Mathison, and Barbara Niven - and I hope we will see other regular cast members return!

Hope you all have a peaceful weekend. As I write the end of this post, I just received news that a friend of my family, lost her father-n-law to the corona virus on Friday morning. Our hearts are breaking for their entire family over this immense loss. Her mother-n-law also has the virus, but was recently able to come home from the hospital. Please pray for her healing and for the children and grandchildren during this difficult time. Receiving news like this truly puts life into perspective.

I also just learned that my cousins' wife has the virus, and a neighbor, who is an older man, a dear friend of my family for many years, is currently in the hospital with the virus. Please also pray for them - and that it won't spread to other family members.

How are you all doing? Are things getting better in your area? Or, are things much the same as they were last year? Please take care, everyone.

Hannah Swensen is the shop owner of the Cookie Jar, where much of the town's gossip percolates along with the strong coffee. But when a mysterious murder occurs, Hannah turns into a culinary detective and finds herself trying to solve the crime while getting caught in an unexpected romantic mystery of her own.

The Cookie Jar's busiest time of the year also happens to be the most wonderful time...for Christmas cookies and Hannah's own special plum pudding. She's busy as can be and loving it. She also gets a kick out of 'Lunatic Larry Jaeger's Crazy Elf Christmas Tree Lot', a kitschy carnival taking place smack-dab in the middle of the village green. Larry thinks he's crazy like a fox with his wild business schemes, but this time, the entrepreneur may have bitten off more than he can chew. Rumor has it that Larry's in the red - an idea that takes a sinister turn when Hannah discovers he's dead in his own office...It seems there are quite a few suspects - including his bitter ex-wife, his ex-partner's daughter, a woman he was wooing, and the Crazy Elf Tree lot's extremely exasperated investors...Now, with so many suspects to investigate and the twelve days of Christmas ticking away, Hannah's running out of time to nab a murderous Scrooge who doesn't want her to see the New Year.

Sitting in her nearly empty store, Hannah Swensen can only hope that the popularity of the new Magnolia Blossom Bakery is just a passing fad. The southern hospitality of Eden Lake's two newest residents, Melanie and Vanessa Quinn, is grating on Hannah's nerves -- and cutting into her profits. Then Hannah finds Melanie shot to death. Everyone in town knew the Cookie Jar's business was suffering...which makes Hannah a suspect.

With her brother-in-law, Deputy Bill Todd, running against gruff lawman Sheriff Grant in a heated sheriff election, an expecting sister ready to deliver, and a scary encounter with a car thief on her mind - Hannah feels her life has reached its boiling point.
