Remembering Legendary Actor Tim Conway

"Surprised by Love" image: Hallmark Crown Media

We solemnly say goodbye today to actor and comedian Tim Conway, who was one of the stars of the classic 'The Carol Burnett Show'.

As Hallmark viewers- we are blessed that one of Mr. Conway's last projects was co-starring in the romantic comedy, "Surprised by Love" in 2015, along with Hilarie Burton and Paul Campbell. What an incredible talent he was at making people laugh.

Tim Conway was born on December 15th, 1933 in Willoughby, Ohio. As a young man he served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. His journey to stardom began when he started working for a radio station. From there, he started writing skits in between CBS morning movies and he was discovered!

'The Apple Dumpling Gang' image: Disney

As a 6-Time Emmy Winner, Tim Conway has 124 movies, tv shows, etc... in his acting credit, including the classic Disney movie, 'The Apple Dumpling Gang' from 1975, with Don Knotts.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his dear friends, family, his children, and grandchildren...

So far, there are no DVD covers shown with these titles shown above, which are currently listed at CBD. I featured the previously released posters - as a reminder of what each movie was about. Typically, they do use the same posters, so I wouldn't be surprised if they all ended up looking as pictured above or very similar.

Do you like the poster images above? Is there anything you would change about any of them, if you could? Personally, I think it would be nice to see Rupert Penry Jones with Danica McKellar on the cover of 'Crown for Christmas', and the sweet little girl, too!

(Thank you to the Anonymous commenter & Shirley S. - who shared this new DVD news!)

At this time, the Aurora movie: 'Real Murders: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery' and the three original releases of 'A Christmas Detour', 'Crown For Christmas', and 'Ice Sculpture Christmas' are the only movies available through Amazon. I do expect they will all end up there eventually! Until then, please help us keep a look out for them!!!

Hilarie Burton and Paul Campbell star in Hallmark Channel Movie: SURPRISED BY LOVE

MOVIE REVIEW

MOVIE: SURPRISED BY LOVE

Network: Hallmark Channel

Original Air Date: January 3, 2015

CAST:

Hilarie Burton ... Josie
Paul Campbell ... Gridley
Malcolm Stewart ... Joseph
Wanda Cannon ... Claire
Leanne Lapp ... Mindy
Aaron Craven ... Richard
Tim Conway ... Granddad

PLOT:

via Hallmark: As a young businesswoman tries to convince her uptight parents to approve of her current boyfriend, she finds herself questioning her own life choices and falling for an old high school flame. Over her parents' 40th anniversary weekend, she must decide which direction her life - romantic and otherwise - is going to take.

Movie Review:

It was no surprise... I fell instantly in love with Surprised by Love!

This was the first movie out of the gate for the Hallmark Channel in 2015, and I wasn't surprised, at all, that this movie was a hit! Once you hear the leads in this film, Hilarie Burton (Naughty or Nice) and Paul Campbell (Window Wonderland), you just know their quirky, lighthearted, personalities will work great together in a movie, and you have that winning combination. The next focus is on the story, which was equally as wonderful!

Josie (Hilarie Burton) has never been lucky in love. She tends to keep bringing home the same type of guy. Ones who are exactly like here. Smart. Boring. Career Driven. Although, her latest boyfriend, Richard Wright, (who Gridley calls Mr. Right) is all those things, Josie's parents still don't like him. To trick her parents into liking him, Richard devices a scheme for Josie to take home her old high school friend Gridley, an unaccomplished drifter, in Richard's eyes, who creates sculptures out of driftwood. Drifting now into Josie's life, seems like perfect timing to Richard who thinks he'll come out smelling like a rose next to Gridley, in her parents eyes. So, the plan, although deemed crazy at first, is set.

During the weekend, at Josie's parents home, they will be celebrating her parents 40th Anniversary. Gridley arrives just in time to ruin Josie's sister hair (by turning it green) and the anniversary cake. In spite of that, Josie and Gridley remember the good times and have fun reconnecting, re-creating a new cake out of twinkies, no less, and visiting their old high school, reliving some great memories, all while making great new ones.

At the party, the family is somewhat tense and divided, at first, with various little tiffs, including a nosy reporter, a power outage, and an outburst from Josie's sister Mindy... but a clever idea from Gridley, by way of the song, "Won't you come home Bill Bailey", brings the family back together again.

In the end, Josie must decide who Mr. Right is for her.

Don't be surprised... when you fall instantly in love with Surprised by Love!

See or Skip:

See! This is a very sweet fun movie.

It's no surprise, that I absolutely loved it!

MAKE A NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION TO FALL IN LOVE—
WITH HALLMARK CHANNEL!
SIX ALL-NEW ORIGINAL MOVIE ROMANCES,
INCLUDING A HALLMARK HALL OF FAME WORLD PREMIERE PRESENTATION,

The magical spark of the holiday season continues into the New Year on Hallmark Channel with brand new original romances!  This January, Hallmark Channel promises to sweep viewers off their feet with six all-new Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere movies, bringing viewers love stories that are sure to warm up even the coldest winter weekends.  Featuring stars like Jaclyn Smith, Hilarie Burton, Tim Conway, Stefanie Powers, John Schneider, Dean Cain and many more, Hallmark Channel’s Original Movie schedule lasts all month long with captivating original tales of chance encounters, rekindled flames and fairytale happily-ever-afters.  The January schedule, including “Away & Back,” a special Hallmark Hall of Fame World Premiere Presentation starring Jason Lee and Minka Kelly, leads to the network’s love-filled ‘COUNTDOWN TO VALENTINE’S DAY.’  Viewers will want to stay tuned for this highly anticipated programming event, starting January 31st, featuring two weeks of Hallmark Channel’s most romantic movies of all time.

“Viewers expect Hallmark Channel to take them on a romantic escape and now we are delivering countless hours of romance, love, laughter and joy to celebrate a new year,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President of Programming, Crown Media Family Networks. “These uplifting stories, including ‘Away & Back,’ will bring the magic and beauty of romance to the delight of millions.”

The January Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premieres and the Hallmark Hall of Fame World Premiere Presentation includes:

‘SURPRISED BY LOVE’
A Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere
Saturday, January 3 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C)

Starring: Hilarie Burton, Paul Campbell, Malcom Stewart, Wanda Cannon, Leanne Lapp, Aaron Craven and Tim Conway

Josie Mayfield (Burton), a no-nonsense businesswoman working at her father’s prosperous cookware company, thinks her boyfriend Richard (Aaron Craven, “Gracepoint”) is the perfect man – handsome, successful and driven. The problem is that Josie’s parents, Joseph and Claire (Malcom Stewart, “My Boyfriends’ Dogs” and Wanda Cannon “Heartland”), do not agree. When Josie meets up with Gridley (Campbell), an underachieving, old high school flame (who still has a crush on Josie), Richard dreams up a plan to make himself look good to Josie’s parents: Gridley will be Josie’s date at Joseph and Claire’s upcoming anniversary party. When Joseph and Claire see Josie with a “loser,” they’ll give anything to have Richard back in the picture. At least, that’s the plan.

‘A NOVEL ROMANCE’
A Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere
Saturday, January 10 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C)

Starring: Amy Acker, Dylan Bruce, Camille Mitchell, Tammy Gillis, Casey Manderson, Emily Tennant, Milo Shandel, Chris Shields and Charles S. Dutton

Romance novelist Liam Bradley (Bruce) has already found massive success with three books written under the pen name Gabriel August, mysteriously unknown to his legions of readers.  With his first book written as a way to heal after a broken relationship, Liam has slowly become disheartened with writing strictly for romantic fantasy, something evident to a sweet, but honest, journalist who reviews books, Sophie Atkinson (Acker), whom he meets by chance on a plane.  The two begin a tentative relationship in Sophie’s home town of Portland, Maine, where Liam has come to find inspiration for his newest entry.

‘BRIDAL WAVE’
A Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere
Saturday, January 17 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C)

Starring: Arielle Kebbel, Andrew W. Walker, David Haydn-Jones and Jaclyn Smith

As her wedding day draws near, Georgie Dwyer (Kebbel) has doubts surrounding her plans to marry Dr. Phillip Hamilton (Haydn-Jones), a dashing and prominent plastic surgeon. Georgie’s anxiety level soars when an extravagant wedding ceremony is arranged at a romantic island resort. Preferring things low-key and simple, Georgie feels she’s lost control of her own wedding, as well as her life. Though Phillip qualifies as the “perfect” fiancé, Georgie feels a romantic spark is missing in their relationship. Tensions rise even further when Phillip’s sophisticated mother, Felice (Smith), blatantly frowns upon Georgie’s working class origins. On the picturesque island, Georgie keeps finding herself in chance encounters with Luke Griggs (Walker), a scruffily handsome ex-architect, who walked away from a high-end architectural firm to enjoy a simple, no-frills life.  When an undeniable chemistry develops between Georgie and Luke, Georgie must decide if she’s going to move ahead with her rapidly approaching marriage to Phillip.

‘LOVE BY THE BOOK’
A Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere
Saturday, January 24 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C)

Starring: Leah Renee, Kristopher Turner, John Schneider, Ryan Bittle, Stefanie Powers, Cherilyn Wilson, Cuyle Carvin, Michael Ensign

After a childhood filled with reading fairytales, bookstore owner Emma (Renee) believes in handsome princes and happily ever afters.  Unlike her happily married coworker Marilyn (Powers), Emma has yet to be swept away by her own prince charming.  Trying to both find an idyllic love life and impress her store’s investor, Frank (Schneider), Emma balances time dating romantic suitor Landon (Ryan Bittle, “All My Children”) and time at her store with Frank’s nettlesome son, Eric (Kristopher Turner, “Saving Hope”).  Although Landon demonstrates real knight and shining armor potential with his romantic overtures, he doesn’t understand her priorities or support her passions like Eric does.  As Emma weighs fairytale courtship against genuine commitment, she learns that real love has more layers than storybook romances.

‘AWAY & BACK’
A Hallmark Hall of Fame World Premiere Presentation
Sunday, January 25 (8p.m. ET/PT, 7C)

Starring: Jason Lee, Minka Kelly

When a family of swans make their home on the Peterson farm, it’s love at first sight for 10-year-old daughter Frankie.  But along comes no-nonsense ornithologist Ginny Newsom (Kelly), who rushes in to “save” the majestic birds.  For Frankie’s dad Jack (Lee), it’s dislike at first sight when he encounters pushy, know-it-all Ginny. Frankie and her brothers are anything but neutral observers as they watch the initial hostility between their widowed father and the strong-willed Ginny transform into something else.  Could that be romance in the air?

COUNTDOWN TO VALENTINE’S DAY
Begins Saturday, January 31

There’s nothing more romantic to mark the year’s biggest celebration of love than red roses, chocolates, candlelight…and Hallmark Channel!  Grab a date and embrace the loving, tender spirit of the season with two weeks of Hallmark Channel’s most romantic and heartfelt movies as part of the network’s ‘COUNTDOWN TO VALENTINE’S DAY.’  The love-filled programming event will include five All-New Original World Premieres dedicated to matters of the heart, beginning with “30th Birthday,” starring Megan Park, Benjamin Hollingsworth and Dean Cain, on Saturday, January 31.  The entire programming slate to be announced soon.

‘30TH BIRTHDAY’
A Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere
Saturday, January 31 (8p.m. ET/PT, 7C)

Stars: Megan Park, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Dean Cain

Lindsay Corwin (Park) is a long-time believer in birthday wishes and she has wished for everything over the years from a puppy to a promotion.  As she approaches her 30th birthday, Lindsay laments to her best friend Dave (Hollingsworth) that not one of them has ever come true and her life is nothing like she envisioned.  Still just an assistant at her green product firm, and reeling from her latest dating disaster, Lindsay is ready to give up on her long wish list.  But when Dave throws her a surprise 30th birthday party, Lindsay resolves to blow out her candles and make one final wish: for all of her wishes to come true. Within days, Lindsay’s 30 years of wishes start to become a reality.  Her divorced parents reconcile, she loses weight, is promoted at work, wins a brand new house and even gets a special kiss from her favorite TV star (Dean Cain).  Then, Lindsay meets Reed (Lemke), a passionate environmental tycoon who could fulfill her best wish of all: finding Mr. Right.  As Lindsay and Reed begin a whirlwind romance too good to be true, Dave longs to tell her about his own deepening feelings for her.  But soon, Lindsay’s new dream life starts to fall apart and threatens to compromise her character, her friendships and her potential for true, lasting love.
