A modern-day movie musical about the making of a network TV special, "Dolly Parton's Mountain Magic Christmas" is the frenetic backstage story and delightful on-camera results of Dolly's desire to uplift an exhausted world's spirits by sharing the unique "mountain magic" she has always found in and around Dollywood at Christmas. Throughout the movie's production numbers and rehearsal chaos, Dolly finds herself taking a private journey into her past, guided by the mysterious appearances of her personal Three Wise Men. When it's time for her big special to air live, a renewed and inspired Dolly goes rogue and shows the world that the real magic of Christmas lies in the hearts of the children we all once were, the realization that Christmas is about the people we share it with, and how her faith remains the common thread between Christmases past, present, and future.

David Rambo will write and executive produce with Sam Haskell and Dolly Parton. Billy Levin and Bobby Kelly will produce. Hudson Hickman will co-executive produce.

Warner Bros. Television will produce in association with Magnolia Hill Productions and Sandollar Productions.

Dolly Parton's previous Christmas TV movies include: Coat of Many Colors (which drew 13 million viewers for NBC in 2015), Christmas of Many Colors (pulled in 11.5 million viewers for NBC in 2016), and Christmas at Dollywood (had 3.65 million viewers for the Hallmark Channel in 2019). She also has a Netflix musical/drama titled: Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square. Older Christmas films starring Dolly Parton include: Unlikely Angel and A Smoky Mountain Christmas.

My personal favorite is Coat of Many Colors; it is such an incredibly moving, powerful story about faith, family, and forgiveness.

Hopefully, this new holiday special will also be heartwarming and inspirational.

NBC Announces 'Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love'

NBC is wisely capitalizing on the huge success of last years 'Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors' ratings success with a Christmas themed sequel, titled: 'Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love'... coming this Christmas!

Returning for this new original made-for-TV movie are the original cast... Ricky Schroder, who portrayed Dolly's father Robert Lee Parton, Jennifer Nettles, who portrayed Dolly's mother Avie Lee Parton, Gerald McRaney as Grandpa Jake Owens, and Alyvia Alyn Lind, who was dynamic in the original film, as young Dolly Parton!

NBC released this storyline description:

"The film delivers Christmas joy and peril as an unexpected blizzard threatens the Parton family, while at the same time Dolly’s father (and his kids) make sacrifices to raise enough money to finally buy his loving wife the wedding ring he could never afford to give her. Meanwhile, an important person in little Dolly’s life begins to see that her amazing voice and musical gift might just be made for something bigger than rural Tennessee."

If you were one of the 15 million viewers who watched the original 'Coat of Many Colors' when it premiered last Christmas Season on NBC, then I know you will look forward to seeing this sequel movie to the Parton family story.

Rafael shared a link on ProductionWeekly.com in mid-April that stated production news on 'Coat of Many Colors 2. With an overall viewership of over 15 million people (according to deadline.com), Dolly Parton's "Coat of Many Colors" premiered on NBC, December 10th with rave reviews and viewers wanting encore airings and more stories of the Parton family.

For those of you wishing for an encore airing... you will get an extra gift on Christmas Night, December 25th, 2015 at 9pm/8c. on NBC.

My family was certainly captivated by this movie! Dolly Parton's "Coat of Many Colors" is a beautiful, amazing story of love and devotion to God and family. We laughed, we cried, and we absolutely fell in love with all the children in the cast, especially young Dolly portrayed by Alyvia Alyn Lind! Plus, Ricky Schroder, Jennifer Nettles, and Gerald McRaney were also phenomenal.

Please note: This is not a Christmas movie, but the story of faith is powerful and centers around the most awesome gift of unconditional love. Please, also know... some of the themes in this story may be too intense for younger viewers, including: death of family member and bullying.

Another movie is being planned in the future, based on the Dolly Parton song "Jolene".

and every detail of Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors

is stitched with love!

Alyvia Alyn Lind is an absolutely remarkable little actress! She truly shines as young Dolly throughout, as the film depicts the happy times and hardships in the life of the Parton family, spearheaded by her strong, hardworking father Lee Parton, portrayed by Ricky Schroder (of Silver Spoons, Lonesome Dove, Our Wild Hearts), then her honest as the day is long, Bible believing mother, Avie Lee Parton, portrayed by country singer Jennifer Nettles, and Gerald McRaney (Simon & Simon, Designing Women, Heart of the Country), who was profound in his role as Dolly's preacher grandfather, Grandpa Jake Owens.

Additional members of this incredible cast, are the children who portray Dolly's siblings, school friends and bully's. There is a depth found in each character, a tale of joy and heartache, that offers an explanation as to why each person behaves the way they do. You will find many wonderful teachings of Christ's love and forgiveness weaved throughout this heartwarming story.

When personal tragedy shakes the very foundation of the Parton family- lives are, for a time, torn apart and each one must come to grips with their own personal belief in the Creator. After enduring great sorrow, each one had to choose, whether or not, to move forward in life, in spite of loss, holding the hand of the one next to them while seeking Christ into their hearts, and believing they will be reunited once again with the ones who go to heaven before.
