Happy mid-May weekend, everyone! Check out what's on the menu this weekend!
The Hallmark Channel is serving up an all-new helping of suspense with Best Served Cold: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, where Hannah is once again mixing together her baked desserts and small-town sleuthing!
Meanwhile, over on Great American Family, the medical drama County Rescue returns with its Season Three premiere. Filled with faith, courage, and heartfelt moments, the series continues to follow dedicated first responders as they face personal challenges and their calling to serve others.
🚨Note: I watched the first episode of County Rescue early on Great American Pure Flix, and just wanted to share that due to the intensity of some medical issues and life-saving emergencies, County Rescue is (in my opinion) best suited for mature preteen age and up. This premiere episode is 1 hour and 30 minutes long (with commercials). It's intense and emotional, but also inspiring to see how these close friends, even when times are tough, care for and lean on each other.
See more details for County Rescue and the new Hannah Swensen Mystery below...
Storyline: When a suspect in a forgery case is murdered, and the prosecutor goes missing, Hannah and Chad must uncover how the two cases are connected and solve them in time for the trial.
Note: While the new Hannah Swensen premiere airs on the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Mystery will air a marathon of Alison Sweeney's Chronicle Mysteries with Benjamin Ayres on Saturday and Murder, She Baked with Cameron Mathison on Sunday!
Hallmark Mystery - Saturday:
Chronicle Mysteries: Recovered - 10am
Chronicle Mysteries: The Wrong Man - 12pm
Chronicle Mysteries: Vines that Bind - 2pm
Chronicle Mysteries: The Deep End - 4pm
Chronicle Mysteries: Helped to Death - 6pm
Hallmark Mystery - Sunday:
Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery - 10am
Murder, She Baked: A Plum Pudding Mystery - 12pm
Murder, She Baked: A Peach Cobbler Mystery - 2pm
Murder, She Baked: A Deadly Recipe - 4pm
Murder, She Baked: Just Desserts - 8pm
Episode 1 - Leave the Light On:
When tragedy hits the station, the County Rescue team must lean on each other to survive loss, rebuild resilience, and keep their faith.
Freedom 250 Invites All Americans to Come Together in Prayer and Worship Ahead of the Nation’s 250th Birthday.
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the National Mall will be the scene of a historic gathering as Americans of every background across the country prepare for the nation’s 250th birthday with Scripture, testimony, prayer, and rededication of our country as One Nation to God. From morning fellowship in front of the U.S. Capitol to an evening filled with music anchored at the main stage on 12th Street, Rededicate 250 will be rooted in giving thanks for God’s presence in our national life throughout 250 years of American history and asking for his guidance for the next 250. (details via https://freedom250.org)
The program is expected to run from 10:30am to 6pm EST.
Among all of the many religious and political speakers, guests, and voices from entertainment, be sure to look for Two-time Tony Award Nominee, Actress, and Singer Laura Osnes, who will be performing along with the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard.
Various news channels will air this live, and it will also be available via livestream on Real America's Voice, CSPAN, TBN+, CBN, etc...
And more patriotic news for Laura Osnes! In case you missed it, she recently sang The National Anthem in support of Great American Media's newest initiative, "America Sings the Anthem." I've included Laura's beautiful rendition of our beloved anthem below.
In addition to these patriotic performances, be sure to look for Laura Osnes next weekend at the National Memorial Day Concert, airing on PBS - Sunday, May 24th. I'll have more details next week - so stay tuned!

☀️ SHINING HIS LIGHT: ☀️
'For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

I know many of you have shared that you have enjoyed this new series... so I'm sure you'll be excited to learn this news, as well.
I've enjoyed the episodes I've watched, so far, but I haven't finished the first season, yet, so I'm really looking forward to finishing it up - especially knowing another season is on the way!
Hallmark Mystery is back on the case with a brand-new movie premiere, and it’s been a long wait!
Alison Sweeney returns to sleuthing in "Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery"!
The last time this channel aired a brand-new mystery was way back in May of 2025, so spotting this title on the schedule felt like uncovering a long-awaited clue.
Also, while we were used to Hallmark Mystery debuting new mysteries/movies on Thursday nights, this one is changing things up with a Friday premiere instead.
And more great news... this new "Hannah Swensen Mystery" is not the only mystery news for March. Hallmark is also listing another premiere- "Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners of Murder," airing on Saturday, March 14th. If the schedule holds, mystery fans are in for a delightfully suspicious weekend. Update: The new "Nelly Knows" will also premiere on Hallmark Mystery.
See the details on "Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery" below...
Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery
Premiere Date: Friday, March 13, 2026, at 8/7c
Cast: Alison Sweeney, Victor Webster, Barbara Niven
Storyline: Hannah finds a body at the grand re-opening of the Lake Eden Inn. When a storm traps everyone inside, Hannah must find the culprit before the road clears and the killer escapes.
Stay tuned for more movie news. Hopefully, we will see more movies released in March.
As soon as the new mystery, The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker, starring Candace Cameron Bure, was available to stream on Great American Pure Flix, I jumped at the opportunity to watch.
Aurora Teagarden (which previously starred Bure) has always been one of my favorite mysteries, so I was excited to see Candace take on this new sleuthing role for Great American Media.
If you don't have Great American Pure Flix, then you'll have an opportunity to watch this new mystery when The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker premieres October 5th on Great American Family.
In the meantime, be sure to check out my review of this new movie below. There are NO SPOILERS on the mystery- I promise!
My REVIEW of
"The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker"
*NO SPOILERS*
Candace Cameron Bure is back to crime-solving as Ainsley McGregor, a former criminologist from Chicago who recently moved to Sweet River, Texas, to be near her brother, Ryan (the town’s sheriff, played by Robin Dunne), and her friends to live a simpler life away from crime and violence.
However, this isn’t the case when Ainsley and her best friend, Shannon, discover a dead body at the local winery. Much to her brother’s disapproval, Ainsley reluctantly gets roped into solving this mystery with help from her friends in the community and the handsome local fire chief, Jake (played by Aaron Ashmore).
Just a few minutes into the movie, I was already deeply engrossed in this mystery, the interesting, diverse townspeople of Sweet River, and Ainsley’s dearest friends.
Throughout the film, I felt little hints, here and there, of the Aurora Teagarden Mystery and the early years of Murder, She Baked. Much like Aurora, Ainsley has her own group of crime-solving friends, who have made their own club, and like Murder, She Baked, this new Ainsley McGregor Mystery has a warm, tight-knit community feel to it. Instead of having a cat, however, like Hannah Swensen, Ainsley’s most loyal companion is George, her adorable dog, who everyone loves.
As for the mystery, my family and I had a strong suspicion about who the culprit was, which ended up being correct, but that didn’t take away from our enjoyment of the movie at all.
One of the many aspects I thoroughly enjoyed was the wonderful community in Sweet River, which mostly centered on Ainsley’s business – Bless Your Arts, a marketplace for local artisans, including: artists, woodworkers, winemakers, jewelry designers, weavers, and all sorts of locally handcrafted work.
Aaron Ashmore was charming and endearing as Jake Trenton, the Sweet River Fire Chief and Ainsley’s friend and potential love interest, while Robin Dunne was the perfect choice to play Ainsley’s brother, Ryan. It’s obvious Robin and Candace have a wonderful rapport in real life, which translates well on the screen as the two portray siblings who often tease but love each other immensely.
Candace was fantastic as the film’s lead, Ainsley McGregor, who… try as she might, can’t resist crime-solving, even if it means danger for herself. In her debut as this new character, Candace hits every mark with perfection—on the personal, professional, and sleuthing side—as we learn more about who Ainsley is and why she has returned home.
This introduction movie to Ainsley McGregor was such a delightful watch; I look forward to re-watching it and the subsequent mysteries to come. (By the way, a second movie was recently filmed, The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Yarn Maker.)
The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker is a fun, cozy mystery, and I’m looking forward to more sleuthing with Ainsley and the town of Sweet River!

If you've had the opportunity to see the new Ainsley McGregor Mystery, I would love to hear your thoughts, too! Please share (without spoilers of the mystery portion) in comments below.
For those of you who haven't seen this yet, I hope you'll have the chance to watch when The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker premieres on Great American Family on October 5, 2024.

Maddie Moore (Roden) is a concierge at a hotel in Detroit, Michigan, who moonlights at
Detroit Free Press in their tipline department. Most nights, calls run anywhere from alien sightings
to lost cats. One night, however, Maddie receives a cryptic call warning of a jewelry heist. When
Maddie brings this to the police, she finds that her usual, complacent contact has retired and has
been replaced by the newly promoted Detective Beeks (McNally). Unfortunately, despite his
stellar reputation as an officer, Detective Beeks doesn’t take Maddie’s anonymous tips any more
seriously than his predecessor. Maddie, who has always taken exhaustive notes, isn’t ready to
let it go. Using an app that allows her to listen into the city’s police scanner, she overhears a
dispatch call about a jewelry heist involving a possible homicide. Immediately connecting it to
the anonymous tip, Maddie rushes to the scene of the crime, only for Detective Beeks to turn her
away. Undeterred, Maddie decides to investigate on her own, sometimes using her day job as a
cover, and she continues to cross paths with Detective Beeks. When Maddie’s insights prove to
be useful, Detective Beeks reluctantly joins forces with her. However, when the investigation
takes a dangerous turn, Maddie begins to worry that her number just might be up.

Just thought I would share some of the latest buzz from social media. Typically, I only address movie details when they become official by the networks, but this movie info was so huge, I just had to share...
For all of you who are fans of the incredible mystery series, Mystery 101, as I am, yesterday Jill Wagner (one of my favorite actresses!) recorded a message to her followers and fans on Instagram addressing the potential future of the mystery on Hallmark. Of course, Jill stars in the series as Professor Amy Winslow and actor, Kristoffer Polaha, plays her opposite, as Detective Travis Burke.
Jill starts off her video with a cheerful, "Hi, Everybody!" However, it's clear she wants to get something off her chest as she says she wants to "address something." She's noticed chatter online and her followers have been DM'ing (direct messaging) her with apparently some harsh comments blaming her for leaving Mystery 101.
Jill does her best to set the record straight, by saying, "I wasn't going to say anything, but I want you guys to know, I love Mystery 101. I loved the people that I worked for, and with. It has nothing to do with my desire to do another one, or anybody’s desire to do another one, except for, the big boy, Hallmark. I think that they are probably going in another direction. I don't know. I'm not privy to that information."
Jill continued, "For my own peace of mind, I want to tell the fans of the show, I love the show. And, if I am ever given the opportunity to do another one, I certainly will. It has nothing to do with any of that. I just want you guys to know that. I haven't abandoned the ship. I wish I could give you more detailed information, but I don't have it."
She also added, "I do love the show. I love you guys for loving the show. And if we don’t come back, I just absolutely, from the bottom of my heart, wanna say thank you so much for the support of the show because that allowed everyone who was involved the opportunity to have so much fun on that show. I love Kris Polaha, he is like a brother to me. He’s like family to me now. We had a good run. And all I can say is thank you."
She concludes with, "I love you all and I hope everybody is doing well and getting ready to head into a very very amazing fun not-so-hot summer! Love you!" She ends with blowing a kiss.
I am personally very disappointed to think Hallmark might end this series at such a high point. It's clear, even based on ratings, that fans love the Mystery 101 series. Jill's right, the ending of the last movie is not an ideal way to leave the series with Amy and Travis obviously separated from each other. I was grateful Jill offered ideas of how to sum up the ending with possibly recording their own version, but I really want that next movie.
What do you all think? It's sad to know Jill received angry messages blaming her for leaving Mystery 101, when it's clearly not her fault, if it doesn't continue. I hope Jill knows how much many of us fans, like myself, love and support her!
If Hallmark can bring Chesapeake Shores back for one final season, why can't they let us have one final movie of Mystery 101? Kristoffer Polaha has shared there is a script for it, and he has read it. Basically, they just need the green light from Hallmark to proceed. I'm baffled why Hallmark wouldn't go ahead and make this movie for their faithful mystery viewers. This is a real-life mystery, but I think we have a few clues.
I thought this would be a fun post, in honor of Candace Cameron Bure's birthday today on April 6th! This is a little "Aurora Teagarden" mystery - I recently discovered... 🔎
When "Aurora Teagarden: Haunted by Murder" first premiered Sunday night, February 20, 2022, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Hallmark released the poster seen above, which features Candace Cameron Bure (as librarian, Aurora Teagarden) and Niall Matter (as college professor, Nick Miller). The newly married couple is featured up close in the foreground, side by side, with Nick shining a flashlight, while the mystifying haunted house appears ominously in the background with a shadowy figure standing in one of the upstairs windows. The caption on the poster reads, "Every home has it secrets."
I noticed a few weeks ago, while I was looking at other movie images, that Hallmark updated the previous key art for "Aurora Teagarden: Haunted by Murder" with a new poster that features Candace Cameron Bure (Aurora "Roe" Teagarden), Lexa Doig (Aurora's best friend, Sally), and their real-life daughters, Natasha Bure and Mia Shanks (who portrayed the teen versions of Roe and Sally in this movie). The haunted house remains in the shadows in the background; however, you'll notice there is a new caption: "As a teen, she witnessed a crime. As an adult, she's returned to solve it." See the new poster below...
So... What do you think? Do you like the original key art with Aurora and Nick or do you prefer the new poster with Aurora, Sally, and their teen versions?
My take...
Although I feel rather bad for Niall being removed from the original key art, I personally prefer the new poster best. By the way, Niall has been featured on 7 previous posters! This is the first time, however, Sally has appeared on one of the "Aurora" posters, and I think it's been a long time coming, especially since actress Lexa Doig has been with the "Aurora Teagarden" series since the very beginning as Roe's bestie and co-conspirator in sleuthing, even if she's a little unwilling, at times, due to being squeamish! It's also fun to see Candace and Lexa's daughters featured on this new cover with them, since the key part of this film was looking back to their past.
I'll be curious to see what image they use if they release this movie individually on DVD. I would love to know your thoughts on the posters, as well! Please share your pick in comments below.
This all new Martha's Vineyard Mystery is the first mystery movie premiere for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in 2021! It's also the only NEW Mystery Premiere in January.
Look for “Ships in the Night: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery” on Sunday, January 17th at 8pm/7c. Be sure to note this is an earlier premiere time slot than most mystery premieres.

REVIEW:
"Yay! Jesse Metcalfe’s new mystery movie I saw family friendly! I know we have all been anxiously awaiting this next installment and first mystery movie of the year, but with Hallmark’s recent turn against family friendly content I was nervous about the new movie. I’m happy to say that all is clear and I hope it remains so for the rest of the movies!" ~ Anonymous

PLEASE NOTE: Since these movies are murder mysteries I don't recommend them for young viewers. However, thankfully, these movies are not as violent as most crime dramas on television today. In the beginning there is typically a tragic event, but in the end there is a great message - good always prevails over evil!
