In a new commercial promo running on Great American Family (see below), actress Shae Robins (Passport to Love and Destined at Christmas films) announces a special airing of the documentary, The History of Easter (from 2021), hosted by Christian singer, Matthew West.
In this documentary, presented by the Museum of the Bible, viewers will learn how certain traditions developed throughout the years at Eastertime, including bunnies, baskets, and candy, as viewers are taken back throughout history - all the way to the original origin of Easter, the crucifixion of Jesus.
"The History of Easter" will air on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, at 5pm/4c, on Great American Family.
UPDATE: PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE ON THIS PROGRAM. "The History of Easter" will now air at 5pm/4c, which is different than what is stated in the video promo below.

The true meaning and spirit of Christmas is about the birth of God's Son, Jesus, and how He came to earth to give us love, joy, hope, and peace!
That gift doesn't change the day (or days) after Christmas! For those who know Jesus, we continue to celebrate in our hearts the fact that we are loved and have hope for the future.
Just as children are still playing with the presents they received on Christmas Day, we can continue to unwrap the Greatest Gift every day!
Even when the Christmas lights, trees, and all the holiday decor come down, Jesus will still be here. We are never alone.
Christ loved us so much - He came to earth as a little baby and ultimately, died on the Cross for us!
If you ask Jesus into your heart and ask forgiveness of your sins, you will receive the ultimate Gift, eternal life with Him!
May we all continue to seek Him each day, just as the Shepherds followed the star until they found the Christ Child.
Sinner's Prayer:
"Oh God, I know I am a sinner.
I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross.
I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me.
I now receive Jesus as my Savior.
I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins,
the gift of salvation and everlasting life,
because of Your merciful grace.
In Jesus name, I pray...
Amen."
Happy day and days after Christmas, everyone!
God's Blessings to you all!

Candace Cameron Bure posted a special video in her Instagram stories showing her Pastor Dudley Rutherford of Shepherd Church.
In the video, Candace shared with her followers (and Great American Family reposted), the text on the screen reads: "The Passion Play will be on Great American Family Channel Good Friday!!"
Each year the Shepherd Church in Los Angeles, California, puts on a musical about the life of Jesus Christ, depicting His crucifixion and resurrection. Candace has shared on her Instagram that this special production of the Passion Play "should be on Broadway because it’s that good!" Apparently, we will all have an opportunity to watch when this stage production of the Passion Play airs on Great American Family - this Good Friday, April 7th!
Back in 2022, Candace invited Danica McKellar to this same Passion Play. Shortly after, Danica shared with her followers that she had become a Christian and from there, she began her faith journey.
I am so blessed to hear and share this Passion Play news with all of you! What a wonderful gift Great American Family is giving to us viewers at Easter time to share the true meaning of this Holy Holiday - the resurrection of Jesus!
It is such an encouragement to see GAF airing inspirational programming, along with their family-friendly films. Please stay tuned for more details. Great American Family recently shared on their Facebook page that we viewers can "Enjoy upcoming movies for EVERY Season! 🌷😎🍁🎄❄️" on their channel! So... I'm looking forward to seeing what they are planning for this Spring, Summer, and beyond!
Happy Easter to you all! Net
UPDATE: On April 7th, Good Friday, The Passion Play will air at 4pm/3c. on Great American Family, followed by two Christmas movies - "A Christmas... Present" at 6pm/5c. and "A Christmas Miracle for Daisy" at 8pm/7c.!
As we prepare for a new season of Christmas movies coming later this week, I thought today would be a good time to pause and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate. My heart’s desire is to always make the focus of the season on the One who came that first Christmas Day to save us from our sins... Jesus!
Sometimes the busyness of the season can pull us in all sorts of directions, but it’s important to take some quiet time and rejoice in the first precious gift given to us all.
Here are 3 points to encourage you in your walk with the Lord this Christmas season...
1. God sent His Son, Jesus, for You!
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” ~John 3:16
God, the Father, gave us Jesus so we could be saved. He seeks our hearts and calls us His children. God has such an amazing love for us...
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." ~Romans 5:8
Even before we took our first breath, God made a way possible for us to be forgiven of our sins and spend eternity with Him. What a precious gift from our Heavenly Father!
2. Jesus is the True Gift of Christmas!
"And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." ~Luke 2:7
The word wrapped always jumps out at me in this scripture. She (Mary, His mother) wrapped Him (baby Jesus) in swaddling clothes. Since Jesus is the first gift of Christmas, then that means Mary wrapped the very first gift!
Just like mothers wrap gifts each Christmas all around the world, how meaningful that the first gift was wrapped by Jesus’ loving mother.
Every year we all seek the perfect present for family and friends, but the most important, perfect, priceless gift of love was born over 2000 years ago in a manger, Jesus!
3. Receive your Gift... Receive Jesus!
Why did Jesus come? God sent His Son as a light to save us, in this dark world, from us our sins. Jesus was crucified on a cross and resurrected so we could be born again.
John 1:14 tells us "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
It’s God’s amazing grace towards us that forgives us of our sins. When we ask for forgiveness and invite Him into our hearts, He is gracious enough to forgive us.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." ~1 John 1:9
That is God's promise to us, His children. I pray you will receive the first incredible gift of Christmas today, Jesus, and walk with Him throughout this holy Christmas season.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for giving us your Son that first Christmas. Forgive me, Lord, of my sins and guide me each day in my walk with you. Help me daily to seek you and live out the grace you’ve given me toward others. Wrap me in your love, joy, and peace this Christmas. Prepare my heart for receiving this amazing gift.
In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen!
Whatever season you are in today in your life, know that God sees you, He loves you and cares deeply about you. James 4:8 reminds us that if you draw near to God, He’ll draw near to you.
May God be with you, bless you,
and keep you all this Christmas season and always, Net

Merry Christmas!
JOY to the World - The LORD has Come!
May the true GIFT of Christmas, JESUS, the Christ Child, who was born in a manger, fill our hearts and homes with joy and peace.
Whether you're wrapping gifts, reading a special Christmas story, baking sugar cookies in the shapes of stars, bells & trees, watching a Christmas movie this week, or simply enjoying some quiet time, this Christmas may we cherish precious memories of Christmases from the past and embrace the Lord's "presence" above all of the Christmas "presents" under the tree!
Also, be sure to look in the sky for something else besides Santa's sleigh! On the first day of winter, Monday, December 21st, 2020 - Jupiter and Saturn will appear to be very close in the southwestern skyline, creating the look of one bright star from earth. The last time this occured was over 800 years ago! According to ChristianToday.com, "the most famous great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn occurred in 7 B.C.—auspiciously close to the birth of Jesus. Close enough that some believe that the great conjunction is the Star of Bethlehem." Isn't that spectacular? Be sure to look on Monday about 45 minutes to an hour after sunset and around 15 degrees above the horizon. If you happen to miss the peak of this event on Monday, the 21st, rest assured the planets will still be very close for days afterwards as they gradually part ways once again.
"Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light."
(lyrics from "We Three Kings")
During this Christmas week... if you're wanting to catch some good old Christmas classics, there are still plenty to see, including It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve, Meet Me in St. Louis, It Happened on 5th Avenue, The Santa Clause trilogy, Home Alone, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and many more! See the Christmas Movie Schedule for times airing.
If you'd like to binge watch movies on Christmas day, look for a full day marathon of It's a Wonderful Life - on Friday from 6am/5c. to 12am/11c on the E! Entertainment channel, and for those who have Hallmark Drama, there's a "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" first season and movie marathon soooo BIG - it takes two days - Saturday, December 26th & Sunday, December 27th!
Back to Christmas week... Even though Hallmark, UPtv, and ION have finished airing their new Christmas movies for the 2020 holiday season, Lifetime still has FOUR MORE NEW CHRISTMAS MOVIES to premiere this week! However, please note: after Christmas they won't replay on Lifetime - so you better catch them now or you may have to wait until next year!

As tradition goes, the Hallmark Channel and now, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, too, will have air many of their 2020 Christmas movie premieres commercial free - beginning Christmas Eve and airing into Christmas Day! (See reviews of the 2020 Christmas movies - here - to check out which new movies are family friendly!)
Unfortunately the cast of "When Calls the Heart" was unable to film a new Christmas movie this year; however, Hearties everywhere will get an extra special gift - with a preview of the upcoming new season during the re-airing of last year's WCTH Christmas movie: When Calls the Heart: Home for Christmas on the Hallmark Channel, Christmas day, at 8pm/7c. Season 8 of "When Calls the Heart" will premiere on February 21, 2020!

When we get together on Christmas day, before any gift is opened, our family gathers around close and the story of Jesus' birth is read by my father from Luke 2.
Here's a special print out of the scriptures from Luke, if you'd like to read it on Christmas day, post it on your refrigerator or share with loved ones...
and some delightful New Christmas Movies this year, too!

Luke 2:1-14 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
*On Easter Sunday, 'A.D. The Bible Continues' will begin a groundbreaking 12-week, primetime run, as a mini-series, on NBC.
*Please Note: This Special is for Mature Audiences Only.
CAST:
Juan Pablo Di Pace ... Jesus
Greta Scacchi ...
Richard Coyle ... High Priest Caiaphas
Adam Levy ... Peter
Vincent Regan ... Governor Pontius Pilate
Babou Alieu Ceesay ... John
Chipo Chung ... Mary Magdalene
Emmett J. Scanlan
James Callis
Joanne Whalley
Jodhi May
PLOT:
via NBC: From executive producers Roma Downey ("The Bible") and Mark Burnett ("The Bible," "The Voice") comes an uplifting spiritual journey through the later chapters of biblical history. "A.D. The Bible Continues" picks up where the smash hit miniseries "The Bible" left off, continuing the greatest story ever told and exploring the exciting and inspiring events that followed the Crucifixion of Christ.
The immediate aftermath of Christ's death had a massive impact on his disciples, his mother, Mary, and key political and religious leaders of the era, completely altering the entire world in an instant. Beginning at that fateful moment of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, "A.D. The Bible Continues" will focus on the disciples who had to go forward and spread the teachings of Christ to a world dominated by political unrest, and the start of a whole new religion that would dramatically reshape the history of the world.
Jesus (Juan Pablo Di Pace) dies on the cross at the hands of the Romans, deserted by even his most loyal followers. Peter (Adam Levy) and the disciples are hunted by Temple authorities led by High Priest Caiaphas (Richard Coyle) and Roman soldiers under orders from Governor Pontius Pilate (Vincent Regan). For the tiny band of followers, every day is a fight for survival, and their mission to spread the word to the world seems impossible.
Yet, they have hope and soon they have power: the amazing miracle of the Resurrection and the shocking arrival of the Holy Spirit upon them all at Pentecost enables them to inspire more and more people to join. The growing church brings challenges for Peter, John (Babou Alieu Ceesay) and Mary Magdalene (Chipo Chung), who are pushed to the limit; they face trials and imprisonments, persecutions and punishments while trying to understand the God-given power granted to them as they transition from the sorrow of Christ's ultimate sacrifice to the awe-inspiring wonder of the Resurrection and beyond.
One of my favorite traditions on Christmas Morning...
The morning is fresh. The day is new. Presents are wrapped and waiting all pretty under the tree. Our family is all gathered around, we've had our delicious breakfast feast, surprises and delicious treats are peeking out from Christmas Stockings, the Children are filled with Wonder and Excitement, and the Grown-ups, too! It's a Joyful Scene, and yet the best time is when we share that quiet moment, before the opening of any physical gift, we receive the best gift of all.. the reading of the first gift of Christmas, the Christ Child.
I have created a Special "Print Out" of the reading from Luke 2, if any of you would like to print it and share with your family.
There are 2 versions to choose from:
(you can either click on the link or picture to load the image)
(*Please Note: The Large versions should print out just fine on a regular 8.5 x 11 in. paper. Click on links or pictures above to open images. Tip: If you open the image, you can click Copy, then Paste the image to a page at Microsoft Word, center and print.)

Easter is a very special day for our family... we rejoice in the Resurrection of our Savior... and while we still believe in the Easter Bunny and hide/hunt eggs, this is what this day truly means to us... honoring Jesus, and his greatest gift and sacrifice for us - His life. I was very young when I first asked Jesus to come into my Heart and forgive me of my sins. As I've grown and matured throughout the life, I have learned that it is a daily walk... and the sweet hymns of old that I grew up with, such as Amazing Grace, What a Friend we have in Jesus, The Old Rugged Cross, etc... mean so much more to me today.
There is so much to love about EASTER... including the Springlike mood in the air... all the light Pastel colors are pulled out from everyones' closet... and it's one of the most acceptable days to wear a hat, unless you are going to the Kentucky Derby. (which I love, by the way!)
It's just so sweet to see all the little Easter bunnies, chicks, and lambs... and all the little sweet goodies that fill Easter Baskets. I love all the little children dressed up in their finest on Easter Sunday Morning- with their Patten Shoes shined just for church! So adorable!
Please be sure to visit the Family TV Schedule to see your favorite Easter Specials - including Easter Parade, Easter Promise, The Ten Commandments, and more!
It's almost Christmas!!! I love the Spirit we feel, even more so than ever.. at this time of year. It is indeed the Most Wonderful Time of the Year... where we celebrate the Christ Child's Birth and gather with family, friends, and loved ones!
We give each other "special meaningful gifts" and "silly" and sometimes... "thank goodness its returnable" gifts, too... but the best Gift of all was born in a manger thousands of years ago... "a Savior, which is Christ the Lord!"
