Hallmark Channel Announces New Series: ‘The Chicken Sisters’

On the heels of Hallmark announcing the season 12 renewal of When Calls the Heart, Variety is now reporting - Hallmark is creating an all-new television series based on KJ Dell'Antonia's bestselling 2020 novel, The Chicken Sisters.

Starring in this series are: Lea Thompson (Back to the Future, Caroline in the City, Next Stop, Christmas), Schuyler Fisk (Every Other Holiday), Genevieve Angelson (This is Us), and Wendie Malick (After All These Years, Darrow & Darrow).

Story details via Variety:
“The Chicken Sisters,” a family drama with southern charm and romance, is set in the fictional town of Merinac, “where a generations-old rift between dueling fried chicken restaurants – Mimi’s and Frannie’s – has left the founders’ families fractured and the locals taking sides.” When a popular cooking show comes to town, things get more complicated as sparks begin to fly and secrets are uncovered.

The series is currently in production and will have 8 episodes coming to the Hallmark Channel later this year.

Please Note: I decided not to share any movie picks for the Hallmark Channel this weekend because the Hallmark Channel will be repeating "Wedding Every Weekend" (twice), "Love Under the Olive Tree" and "Matching Hearts" over Saturday & Sunday- and all three movies include same sex couples. This is something I do not support - according to my faith in God's Word and personal beliefs. Please be aware of this as you are watching TV this weekend.

I know many of you who visit here may not be watching the Hallmark Channel at all right now and please know, I fully understand. I haven't been comfortable watching it lately, myself, even for Christmas. I did record and watch the first two Summer Nights movies - "Romance in the Air" and "Love on Harbor Island" and they were both sweet and family-friendly. Going forth, I've decided I will do like I do with any other channel, I will cautiously choose what I watch, and I will carefully pick and choose. I typically watch the programs I like on other various networks, then I turn anything I don't like or of course, anything objectionable. So... that's what I'll do now with the Hallmark Channel. It's like every other secular network. I no longer feel safe to just leave my TV turned there, and my family and I will have to watch with caution - IF we choose to turn there.

I hope you all have a nice weekend. We've had some pleasant temps this week here in the Midwest, but it's supposed to get really hot again this weekend - with high humidity! ☀ How's the weather where you live?

Hallmark Movie Channel's newest family film, "The Cabin", Premieres this Weekend!

If you've been inside alot lately - trying to keep cool, due to the Summer Heat~Wave sweeping the Country, then you'll need something to prevent "cabin fever". And, I've found the answer... it's Hallmark Movie Channel's newest family film, The Cabin!

Premieres July 30th at 8 PM est

on Hallmark Movie Channel

Hopefully, many of you have the Hallmark Movie Channel and will be able to see this one. I have DirecTV, but don't have HMC - so I won't be able to view this, until it is, hopefully one day played on the regular Hallmark Channel. PLOT:

Lily MacDougal (Thompson) and Conor MacDougal (Brand) are single parents who share the same surname, but have little else in common. But when a careless booking agent accidentally assigns Lily's family and Conor's to the same cabin, a civil war ensues reminiscent of the War of Scottish Independence. This family film delves into the world of Sophie Kelly (Thompson), a top-rated lawyer with three kids and a husband that take up all her time. All of her family and work stress comes to a chaotic halt days before Christmas at the shopping mall when she sees Santa and wishes for a different life. However, the grass is not always greener as a single, successful lawyer with her own firm and the most eligible bachelor vying or her attention. Freedom has its price as she realizes the sweet life is not so sweet and must race against time to find the true meaning of family and love before Christmas Day.



Movie Review:

I like Lea Thompson and I tried to like this movie, as well... however, it was one of those - should I just turn the channel or should I see how it turns out? I opted for staying with it.

As my family always says after a predictable movie... Well, that was pretty cut and dry. And to be truthful, it was.

The main character, Sophie wishes her life is different as described above in the plot and she gets her wish only to realize her dream life isn't exactly the fairytale she thought it would be.

In the end, she returns to her real life... but this time she is thankful for her husband and children and realizes she really has a wonderful life.

There are a lot of chaotic moments before the happy ending and that's part of the reason why I didn't enjoy it.
