The Latest MOVIE REVIEWS of Hallmark and UPtv Movies

Some great movie reviews have been coming in recently to It's a Wonderful Movie, so I thought I would highlight them today and share them with all of you!

Some movies were hits, while others were misses. See all the details below.

A special thank you to: Allie B, Anonymous, JoCo, Chris, Amy G., Abigail, Maria, Mark 25, Florence, Joyce in Carolina and kitkat for sharing your thoughts. By the way, if you haven't shared your opinion, yet, but would like to, simply leave a response in comments below this post.

Warming Up to You

Movie Reviews:

🌹 "Watched Warming Up to You. It's family friendly and really cute. Cindy and Chris are great together, once again." ~Allie B

🌹 "Warming Up to You is a light-hearted and fun family-friendly comedy/romance. Christopher Russell and Cindy Busby have been in many movies together and have good chemistry. I enjoyed watching this movie with my 13-year old daughter." ~Anonymous

🌹 "Warming Up to You is sweet and fun and made me actually laugh-out-loud a time or two! Enjoyed seeing Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell together again. Cindy portrays Kate Wolfe, a fitness instructor and Christopher plays Rick Steele, an actor who has let himself go physically. It's obvious (as others said above) they have an easy-going chemistry together. Also, it's a great movie for encouraging exercise and a healthy diet. Christopher's fake big stomach is rather funny looking, at times, but it added to the comedy aspect. Was fun to watch Minnie (an older woman) join Rick and Kate with their workouts. Cindy's workout wear was your typical tight spandex; they could've been cute, but I thought the colors chosen for her were rather drab. I did, however, like Cindy's pretty pink dress near the end of the movie (seen in the poster above). Overall, Warming Up to You is a delightful watch and family-friendly!" ~Net

🌹 "I enjoyed Warming Up to You and Road Trip Romance." ~dstoutholcomb

Road Trip Romance

Movie Reviews:

🌹 "Sad to say it had its sprinkling of wokeness. I guess anything from now on from Hallmark will have its interjection of things that don’t really add anything to the story. Longing for story’s that aren’t cookie cutter themes with predictable endings." ~JoCo

🌹 "What did you think of Road Trip Romance? I thought that Road Trip Romance was terrible." ~Chris

🌹 "I'm sure somebody enjoyed "Road Trip Romance," but it wasn't me. In fact, it was one of my least favorite Hallmark movies ever. The part where the couple is in the small quirky town with the Renaissance Festival was just bizarre. But, it was family friendly. ~Amy G.

🌹 "Road Trip Romance.... I truly enjoyed this film. It was so sweet and funny. Loved the Renaissance Fair and all the kind people. All of it was great, especially loved the kindness and forgiveness she shows to Della. And it was 100% friendly!! And so much chemistry between the too! I thought the actress who played Della looked a lot like Alexa PenaVega if you ignore the curly hair and I thought the actress who plays the bride looked a lot like Julie Gonzalo. Almost like they could be sisters! Another thing I thought was funny... during the Renaissance, no one was using electricity, but the women obviously used curling irons. ;)" ~Abigail

🌹 "I agree with someone who wrote that Road to Romance was terrible. One of the worst HM movies I've seen. The female lead was not anything as good an actress as most HM channel has as their lead." ~Anonymous

🌹 "I enjoyed Warming Up to You and Road Trip Romance." ~dstoutholcomb

Heart of the Matter

Movie Review:

"Heart of the Matter is, probably the most emotional HMM movie I've ever seen! And it's also clean. So, if you're interested, might be best to have some tissues handy." –Maria

"Heart of the Matter: Family friendly, but what a heavy topic! A doctor loses her patient because of negligence on her part, and she suffers emotionally for it. Plus, the patient's mother is angry and sues the doctor. Aimee Teegarden has been great in other movies, but they don't hold a candle to her performance in this one! The emotions and the suffering she shows...you can't help but suffer along with her! I recommend watching it if you are in the mood for a very serious, non-light-hearted movie, and as Maria said, you may want to have some tissues handy." ~Mark 25

"I thought that Heart of the Matter was a great film." ~Chris

"I started to watch Heart of the Matter. Got 20 minutes into it, but had to stop watching because it was so sad. I really like the special needs young man. I was glad to hear this film is family friendly. I just couldn’t watch anymore. Did she get married in the end?? And Maria... you are so right. Her acting was terrific, and I only saw a little bit. It did make me grateful that my Dad got there in time during his heart attack last fall (he is doing really well, BTW. Thank you for all the prayers. God is so good!" ~Abigail

"At last, a movie with heart. Could be relatable to anyone that has faced loss." ~JoCo

"Heart of the Matter was a very intense movie, great acting all around. But, for some reason I just couldn't get into it. I watched the whole movie, but almost turned it after about 20 minutes. It's not one I will watch again!" ~Joyce in Carolina

Yellowstone Romance

Movie Reviews:

🌼“Overall, as far as this ranch movie goes… I’m on the skip it side of the fence due to the friend's bedroom sharing (2 girls and a guy) and outlandish behavior. The three friends, Olivia, Amber and Justin, acted over-the-top and rather silly, at times, which I personally didn’t love. I did like Christopher Russell as the cowboy, actor Bruce Dawson (Nantucket Noel, Aurora Teagarden), as his father, and the country setting was gorgeous, along with the beautiful horses. Plus, the romance that develops between Olivia and Travis is rather sweet, but that wasn't enough to save it for me. Perhaps, Yellowstone Romance will rope you in, but this was not a keeper for me." ~Net
(This is a shortened version of my review – you can see the full version *here*.)

🌼"Net, thanks first for your great review of Yellowstone Romance. I watched but was well prepared thanks to you. The three friends, I agree, totally inappropriate the guy friend staying in the SAME room!!!!! Not needed. And the shower was ridiculous! You could see right through the boards. If they are literally supposed to be a ranch getaway then I don't think that would pass inspection. Anyway, I liked Christopher Russell too, but the 3 friends were like immature teenagers the whole trip. Could've been great otherwise." ~Allie B

🌼"Yellowstone Romance...I turned it off because of the obvious "gay" man sharing a room with the girls. I really like Christopher Russell acting...so it wasn't easy turning it off, but I felt (for me) it was the right thing to do." ~Anonymous

🌼"Really enjoyed Yellowstone Romance!" -Maria

The Nature of Romance

Movie Reviews:

🌼"The Nature Of Romance is a solid and pleasant Rom.Com - nothing ground-breaking but definitely family friendly with a good performance from Brant Daugherty and I think most here should enjoy it" - Florence

🌼“The Nature Of Romance could not hold my interest. As much as I love watching Brant Daugherty, this movie had something missing. I was so disappointed.” ~kitkat

🌼"The only other one I saw was The Nature of Romance. I lost interest in it partway through, but I did watch to the end." ~dstoutholcomb

My thoughts on...

TV this Weekend:

I'm excited about another GAC Family movie marathon on Saturday, and I'm looking forward to hearing Rosemary's news in the all new "When Calls the Heart." I sure it ends up being what I'm *expecting* it to be! (Get the pun?)

Speaking of expecting mothers, actress Jen Lilley is about to give birth to a precious little baby girl any day now. What a perfect time to re-watch her movie, Royally Wrapped For Christmas, on GAC Family - this Mother's Day weekend. It's a good reminder that we should honor our mothers, wrap them up a heartfelt gift, and treat them like royalty!

As for new movies this weekend... As I mentioned above, I had the opportunity to pre-screen the UPtv movie, Yellowstone Romance, and you can see my full review -
*here*.

Mother's Day:

In honor of this Mother's Day Weekend, I want to say, once again, how thankful I am to have such an incredible, beautiful Momma, who is always so loving and caring. I am truly blessed by her unfailing love and devotion to our family. Her walk with the Lord is my greatest inspiration; I'm truly grateful for her amazing love everyday!

I'll also be fondly remembering on Mother's Day both of my grandmothers; I will forever cherish the memories and special times we shared together.

I pray all of you Momma's and Grandmother's out there have a very Happy Mother's Day! I'll certainly be enjoying this special day with my family, and I hope many of you are able to do the same.

Much LOVE to You All! Net

Movie Review:

🌸 "I am curious about the opinions of others on Aloha With Love. Trevor Donovan is a favorite but this movie did not do him justice. There was no chemistry between the lead lady and Trevor. All those rings in her ears were distracting." ~kitkat

🌸 "Aloha with Love was sooo sweet! A big win for UP TV." -Maria

🌸 "Aloha with Love is family friendly, and I enjoyed seeing the handsome Trevor Donovan again, but I just didn't get a feeling of any chemistry between him and the lead female, Gemma." ~Net

Yellowstone Romance

Original Air Date: May 8, 2022

Starring: Stephanie Bennett, Christopher Russell, Aadila Dosani

Story-line via UPtv: As maid of honor, Olivia plans her best friend’s bridal shower at a ranch where handsome rancher Travis shows her that life, and love, could be great on a ranch.

Movie Review:

🌼🐎 "Actress Stephanie Bennett (The Nine Lives of Christmas, Listen Out for Love) portrays the main lead Olivia, the big-city girl, who is completely taken off guard when her roommate and best friend, Amber, declares she is getting married after dating a guy for 6 weeks. Olivia thinks it’s too soon for them to make such a commitment, especially since Amber will be moving from New York to live on a ranch in Wyoming.

While Olivia is stewing over Amber’s decision, characters are shown casually drinking at a restaurant/bar setting. To help her friend see the light, Olivia plans a surprise get-a-way to a real-life working ranch, so Amber can get a taste of what life will be like after she marries. Along with Amber, Olivia invites their friend, Justin, along for the trip, who frankly acts like one-of-the-girls. He even gets dressed up in colorful western wear. To my knowledge, unless I missed something, nothing is specifically mentioned regarding Justin’s behavior, but he's rather obvious.

After arriving at the ranch, the three friends: Olivia, Amber, and Justin, stay in the same one room lodge - in separate beds. I wasn’t too pleased with those arrangements, but, thankfully, nothing indecent is shown. Also, note: there is an outdoor shower at the ranch, and Olivia is barely shown as she’s beginning to take a shower in her bathing suit. This was actually more innocent than it sounds – she screams because the water is cold and Travis comes running. Who is Travis (?), you may ask…

Christopher Russell (A Lot Like Christmas, Chasing Waterfalls) is quite handsome as Travis McCleary, the rugged cowboy rancher. He fits the role perfectly, from the moment he rides up on his horse. It’s interesting to watch these city slickers try their best to fit in with Travis and his country life.

Overall, as far as this ranch movie goes… I’m on the skip it side of the fence due to the bedroom sharing (2 girls and a guy) and outlandish behavior.

Anyway, that’s my take. Perhaps, Yellowstone Romance will rope you in, but this was not a keeper for me." ~Net

🌼🐎 "Net, thanks first for your great review of Yellowstone Romance.

Could've been great otherwise. Also, an okay one-time watch for me." ~Allie B

🌼🐎 "Yellowstone Romance...I turned it off because of the obvious "gay" man sharing a room with the girls. I really like Christopher Russell acting...so it wasn't easy turning it off, but I felt (for me) it was the right thing to do." ~Anonymous

🌼🐎 "Really enjoyed Yellowstone Romance!" -Maria

The Nature of Romance

Original Air Date: May 15, 2022

Starring: Brant Daugherty, Kimberly Daugherty, Breanne Hill, Alexandra Harris

Story-line via UPtv: Travel writer Jackie Sinclair goes luxury “glamping” with her best friend Annette. When she arrives at the nature reserve, she bumps into devilishly handsome park ranger Sean, who offers to be Jackie’s guide in the hope she will write an article in one of her glossy magazines. It’s a bumpy ride at first, but as the pair embark on their adventure, sparks soon fly… could this be love?

Movie Review:

🌳 "The Nature Of Romance is a solid and pleasant Rom.Com - nothing ground-breaking but definitely family friendly with a good performance from Brant Daugherty and I think most here should enjoy it" - Florence

🌳 "The Nature Of Romance could not hold my interest. As much as I love watching Brant Daugherty, this movie had something missing. I was so disappointed." ~kitkat

🌳 "The only other one I saw was The Nature of Romance. I lost interest in it partway through, but I did watch to the end." ~dstoutholcomb

🌳 "I thought The Nature Of Romance was enjoyable and sweet - very family friendly! Brant and Kimberly Daugherty, who are married in real-life, were great to watch on screen as the leads. The comedy in the movie was fun. Overall, it was a delightful watch.

💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮

Harmony in Paradise

Original Air Date: May 22, 2022

Starring: Liliana Tandon, Vivica A. Fox, Brian Krause, Thony Mena

Story-line via UPtv: Amelia, a respected wildlife journalist, is tasked with covering baby manatees in Puerto Rico about to be released into the wild, when she meets a handsome conservationist who helps her discover all the treasures the island has to offer.

Movie Reviews:

🌳 "Harmony in Paradise is family friendly. (I watched an early screening) It’s a story about a writer who steps out of her comfort zone. (it kind of gave me a Love on the Slopes feel)

Amelia Dey usually writes her travel stories at home, but this time her boss sends her to Puerto Rico to write about the release of the manatees, who were rescued after the hurricane. She not only puts her notebook down and finds adventure, but she may also discover love. The scenery, by the way, is gorgeous!

There are some cheesy moments, and I’m not sure I felt a major connection between the leads, but all the characters were mostly likable. It was nice how everyone was so kind and welcoming to Amelia. This was an okay one time watch for me." ~Net

🌳 "Harmony in Paradise was very nice!" -Maria

💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮

Love Under the Lemon Tree

Original Air Date: May 29, 2022

Starring: Maddison Bullock, Anthony Coons, Casey O'Keefe

Story-line via UPtv: After being laid off from her job, budding photographer Beck realizes her dreams and enters a lucrative destination photography contest, heading off to the island of Serenity island. Staying at the Lemon Tree Farm, Beck is determined to help the handsome owner save his picturesque farm with the power of social media.

Movie Review:

🌳 "Love Under the Lemon Tree - The lemon farm in this movie is lovely and the leading lady is bubbly and sweet. I felt the romance was a bit rushed, and I didn’t like the continual usage of Oh my G— throughout the movie, which was definitely unnecessary. Minus that, it was family friendly, but not a keeper for me." ~Net
