ReplyDeleteMaria, Me, too. I don't care for the collections which often include movies I don't like. I think they do that on purpose, knowing some movies wouldn't sell as well if they were made available on their own.

ReplyDeleteHi Net! Thank you for all of this info for those that still add to their DVD collection. Once we discovered DVR we never looked back, it’s just so convenient. Speaking of Lifetime Christmas movies, I watched one a few years ago and I loved it, it was “Christmas in Mississippi” with Wes Brown and Jena Kramer. Do you recommend any other Christmas movies from Lifetime? I don’t ever watch that channel as the storylines are out of control but I’m willing to try some other Christmas movies. If anyone has any Lifetime Christmas movies to recommend please let me know! ;)

I believe Ponsiettas For Christmas was given a rating of PG-13 because there is a spot where Bethany is trying to fix the truck and she hurts her finger and she exclaims I believe it is "mother f " or "mother" and before she finishes that she sticks her sore finger in her mouth
DeleteThank you for mentioning that. I don't recall hearing her saying anything bad, but I'll be sure to look for it now. I'm sure Lifetime would edit out any major expletive, but I wonder if a streaming version would be edited???
DeleteNice to see Christmas Bow finally on a dvd, but I won't spend $35 for it as I don't care for the other movies with it. Same for Three Wise Men and a Baby, don't care for the other movies in the set and again $35. is too much for one movie. Hopefully, Hallmark will put them on a dvd by themselves. Still hoping for Return to Christmas Creek, My Christmas Family Tree, Ghost of Christmas Always, Maple Valley Christmas, A Big Fat Family Christmas and Long Lost Christmas.

I would also like to see individual DVD’s of My Southern Family Christmas, The Gift of Peace, The Christmas Promise and My Christmas Family Tree.

The Only place I have seen this on DVD was on a Lifetime Collection (Volume 4). WalMart had it but it is listed as out of stock at the present.
DeleteLifetime has some great ones, just have to read reviews to know which to skip. Snowed Inn for Christmas is our favorite, we've also loved, random acts of Christmas, and the road home for christmas.
DeleteHoliday Date, Reunited for Christmas, and Jingle Around the Clock were all at the top of my list of ones I wanted them to release. Now if they'd just put out lifetime's too close for Christmas, and allow digital purchasing of how to fall in love, love on the air, and chsitmas with a Prince 2&3!

I like Andrea Barber I want Gac Christmas on candy cane, a maple valley Christmas, wedding season, three weeks, three Kids, farewell Mr Kringle to come out on dvd by themselves I don’t like them together one movie I like one I don’t wished a splash of love and gingerbread miracle would be on dvd by it self

Also, Three Wise Men and a Baby, Christmas Bow, Twelve Gifts of Christmas, A Big Fat Family Christmas, Maple Valley Christmas, Ghosts of Christmas Always and Long Lost Christmas. Also, Return to Christmas Creek and Farewell, Mr. Kringle on dvds by themselves. Won't buy two movies I don't like to get one that I do like. Almost forgot, also Time for Him to come Home for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAs much as the combos are great for some people, it's annoying to me. Most of the collections I only want one or two movies. I guess one could take the movies that they want and resell the rest either as a set or as individuals. Or gift them.

ReplyDeleteI am so irritated I ordered 3 movie collection haul out the holly three wise men and a baby lights camera Christmas dvd it’s doesn’t play in the us it’s region 4 so disappointed wonder why it wasn’t showing on Amazon as new release’s doesn’t even play in the us
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting. While the DVD may say Region 4, that doesn't mean it won't work for you - on your U.S. DVD player.
DeleteI spoke to my friend, Janet, who I consider to be an expert on DVD's and she was so kind to share this information with me to share with you...
Janet's response:
I received my copy of 3 film collection of Haul Out The Holly/The Three Wise Men And a Baby/Lights, Camera, Christmas just yesterday. I put each of the DVDs in my old Toshiba DVD player and had no problem with them playing. I have all of the Viavision 3 film collections as my favorite part of them is that you get individual discs so that if there is something you don't want you can get rid of it...especially if it the only way you can get a movie (especially older ones) on DVD that has never been released.
Janet further explained...
I also can tell you that on the cover back it does show the particulars about the DVDs and shows the Region as 4. I can see that this can be confusing but basically if the disc has a NTSC rating it will play on US DVD players. Viavision is a company in Australia that works in concert with Amazon. In the Amazon description under "Additional DVD, NTSC, Widescreen, Color options" it shows NTSC. The NTSC standard was used in most of the Americas (except Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay), Myanmar, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Japan and some Pacific Islands nations and territories. There is a lot of technical stuff if someone wants to understand NTSC more on Wikipedia.

Anonymous, I also want to mention... Unlike you & Janet, I don't own the specific DVD collection you mentioned, but I can tell you - I've had no trouble playing other NTSC DVDs on my U.S. only DVD player. If you have any trouble with this DVD playing for you, you really should reach out to Amazon.

Hi Anonymous and Net, FYI - I own six of these Region 4/Viavision dvd sets and all of the discs play just fine on my simple blu-ray/dvd player. Other commenters on Amazon expressed the same concern but were able to play the dvd's with no problem.

DeleteI was hoping for Ghost of Christmas Always to come out on dvd. Now I see it is on a six movie collection(I don't want any of the others) and it's $40. Another movie I won't get. Why can't Hallmark put them on separate dvds? It is so frustating. All the movies they have released so far that I have wanted are on with ones I don't want.

Yes! I saw the DVD for "Time for Him to Come Home for Christmas" today, too! I'd much rather have my favorites on DVD alone, then with something I don't like in a collection.

I would like Ghosts of Christmas Always, Long Lost Christmas, A Big Fat Family Christmas, My Christmas Family Tree, Christmas Bow and Return to Christmas Creek to come out on individual dvds. Still hoping for Love in Paradise to come out on dvd. It's on out dvr and we probably watch it at least once a month.

Hi. I have not been able to view many Christmas movies the last two years. Therefore, I am not sure what is and is not family friendly. I just found these movie combos on Amazon. I am just providing for FYI for your decision for other's who may want certain movies. Thank you for your help identifying great family oriented movies. The following list is 3 and 9 movie sets. Some of the movies are a repeat of a 3 movie set. I know that some people wanted a movie but didn't like the other two movies. Maybe one of those movies are on a 9 movies set and the price of $34.99 for 3movies versus $49.99 for 9 movies would be more cost effective for them. Thanks again.
