God Bless America ~ Remembering September 11th...

ON THIS DAY - PATRIOT DAY...

* WE PRAY * WE REMEMBER * WE REFLECT *

THOSE OF US WHO LIVED THROUGH THAT DAY
MUST NEVER FORGET
AND WE MUST SHARE THIS HISTORY
WITH THE NEXT GENERATION

Let us continue to pray for peace in our Country and for those who lost someone they loved on that day, September 11, 2001.

Like many of you, I remember watching the events unfold on my TV that historic day, surrounded by my family, wondering what horrific event might happen next. That feeling we all had on that day was extremely frightening; however, I pray we, as a country, never forget.

I pray for all the families who endured loss on that day of September 11th and for those who have lost loved ones - soldiers, fighting for our freedom ever since.

As we remember this dark time, be a Light to someone Today! Let us love one another!

GOD BLESS AMERICA ~ Land that I love!

With my enormous love for my country,
and blessings to all who visit here, Net

The Light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it."

New Series 'Brush of Honor' premieres Thursday on INSP!

It is my honor to share with all of you, again...
a new television series premiering this week on INSP:
'Brush of Honor'

Narrated by actor Gary Sinise, 'Brush of Honor' will take you on an incredible emotional journey of patriotism, the reality of war, and sacrifice.

"In INSP’s original series Brush of Honor, artist Phil Taylor is on a mission to paint portraits of America’s fallen heroes and hand-deliver them to surviving family members across the country. One painting at a time, he touches the lives of grieving parents, spouses, and children who have lost loved ones at war." --- Via INSP

-- BRUSH OF HONOR --
Please watch this incredible Video Clip, that details this new series...

I have had the privilege to preview upcoming episodes of Brush of Honor. The stories are heartwarming, engaging, impactful. Such loss is often hard to comprehend, and yet... seeing the faces of those our country has lost, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, is a precious opportunity for viewers, and a cherished gift for the families they left behind.

What artist Phil Taylor does for each of these families is truly amazing. It is a ministry as he gives each of them back just a little bit of what they have lost. Just to see the face of their loved one again, is priceless.

Thank you to all these families, who have shared these stories of your sons and daughters with all of us. As Americans, who live in a country, where we are free...we are blessed and honored to hear their story of bravery. God bless all of you!

See the first episode of 'Brush of Honor' - Thursday May 21, 2015 at 9PM/8c.

Then, in a Special Memorial Day presentation, two episodes will air at 9:00pm ET.

New Series "Brush of Honor" gives Tribute to Fallen Soldiers on INSP

premieres on Thursday, May 21st at 9pm EST
with an encore presentation on Memorial Day

(Image via: INSP press release.)

PRESS RELEASE via INSP:

Indian Land, SC – INSP announced the premiere of an original series, Brush of Honor, scheduled to debut on May 21st with an encore presentation on Memorial Day. The announcement was made by Doug Butts, SVP of Programming.

Brush of Honor follows artist Phil Taylor as he honors America’s fallen soldiers in a unique tribute. In each episode, Phil embarks on a journey to learn as much as he can about a particular soldier in order to accurately reflect the fallen hero’s true spirit in a hand-painted original portrait. He visits the soldier’s hometown and meets with family members, friends and comrades. Through this process, he gains a clearer understanding of what leads these young men and women to serve and lay down their lives for our country.

“This is much more than just a work of art,” Butts explained. “Phil has a way of capturing the spirit of each service member. Whether it’s a contagious smile, a twinkle in the eye, or a palpable love of country, Phil is able to infuse each portrait with the essence of the soldier’s life, and ‘bring them home.’”

Each episode culminates in a powerful “reveal” orchestrated by Phil’s wife, Lisa, in which the portrait is presented to the family. “These become a celebration of life,” continued Butts, “with special ceremonies featuring local and national personalities, military personnel, and others who were a meaningful part of the service member’s life. While the series evokes deep emotion, it also is extremely heartwarming. Joy and laughter weave throughout each episode as family and friends recollect humorous moments and uplifting stories. It’s quite moving.”

Dale Ardizzone, COO of INSP, couldn’t agree more. “The series is a natural fit for our network,” he said. “It perfectly blends with our line-up of wholesome, family-oriented content. And it has multi-generational appeal. We are proud to honor our fallen heroes with this series and are confident that the show will resonate with INSP’s current audience, as well as attract new viewers.”

Brush of Honor is produced for INSP by Austin Street Productions and Wellington Entertainment. The first episode premieres Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 9:00pm ET. Then, in a special Memorial Day presentation, two episodes will air at 9:00pm ET. For more information, visit www.insp.com.

My Thoughts:

This series will absolutely tug at our heartstrings! "Brush of Honor" sounds like an amazing tribute to our military and their families, who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. What a gift and blessing artist Phil Tyler, along with his wife Lisa, are giving to each of these families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. May God bless them and their mission.

In addition, INSP is a wonderful outlet to share these stories, a dependable network which always supports faith, family, and freedom. I look forward to seeing this new series in May, and sharing it then with all of you.

In Honor of Memorial Day

Memorial Day is... (definition excerpted from Wikipedia) a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 30th, in 2011). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates men and women who died while in military service to the United States. First enacted to honor Union and Confederate soldiers following the American Civil War, it was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.

Memorial Day often marks the start of the summer vacation season, and Labor Day its end. Begun as a ritual of remembrance and reconciliation after the civil war, by the early 20th century, Memorial Day was an occasion for more general expressions of memory, as ordinary people visited the graves of their deceased relatives, whether they had served in the military or not. It also became a long weekend increasingly devoted to shopping, family gatherings, fireworks, trips to the beach, and national media events such as the Indianapolis 500 (since 1911 - this is the 100th Centennial Race) and the Coca-Cola 600 (since 1960) auto races.

I hope you all have a very nice weekend. Memorial Day has always been a memorable time in our family to remember and honor those who have passed away by placing flowers at their graveside. I don't know if people do it as much as they used to. I suppose that is why the name was changed from Decoration Day (decorating the graves) to Memorial Day.

Also, on this Holiday Weekend, We honor those who serve our Great Country! God Bless Our Troops, past and present!

*If you are wondering about Family Movies for this Weekend, please see the Family TV Schedule.

There will be a wonderful Marathon of Episodes of The Waltons that honor our Military on the INSP Network. PBS will air it's annual National Memorial Day Concert on Sunday Evening - check your local PBS channel. The National Memorial Day Parade airs Monday at 2 PM on the Military Channel.

Meet My Mom / Soldier Love Story - Hallmark Channel Movie starring Lori Loughlin and Stefanie Powers

MOVIE REVIEW

Meet My Mom

Also Known As...

DVD Title: Soldier Love Story

Network: Hallmark Channel

Original Air Date: May 8, 2010

Mother's Day!
----------------------------

*Meet My Mom aired as the crown jewel of the Hallmark Channel network’s “Countdown to Mother’s Day” campaign, which included a full week of programming in May designed to celebrate the mothers and mother figures who love us, encourage us and support us.

CAST:

Lori Loughlin ... Dana Marshall
Stefanie Powers ... Louise Metcalf
Johnny Messner ... Sergeant Vince Carrera
Charles Henry Wyson ... Jared Marshall

PLOT:

Recent divorcee, Dana Marshall (Loughlin) and her son, Jared (Charles Henry
Wyson, “Journeyman”), move across the country to live with Dana’s mother, Louise (Powers), in California. Jared is nervous about attending a new school, but when his fourth-grade class is assigned to write letters to soldiers serving overseas, he finds a friend in someone he never would have expected: Sergeant Vince Carrera (Messner).

Jared’s letters hit home with Vince, who hasn’t received mail since his divorce three years earlier, and the two continue to write back and forth. Vince returns on leave and decides to pay a surprise visit to his 10-year-old pen pal, and when Dana answers the door, it’s love at first sight, but neither of them are ready to admit it.

Over the next few weeks, Vince spends more time with the Marshalls, coaching Jared in baseball and getting to know Dana, who, despite her mutual attraction to Vince, is afraid to fall for someone who will soon be sent back overseas. But the more they get to know each other, the less they are able to deny themselves the love they’ve been so reluctant to seek out, and when Vince is deployed again, Dana must decide whether she and Jared can afford to wait for his return.

Movie Review:

"Meet My Mom" (Soldier Love Story) is a family-friendly movie; however, please note, the lead female character, Dana, is divorced.

Dana and her son, Jared, leave their home and move in with her mother following her divorce, which is a difficult, sad circumstance. It's soon apparent that her ex-husband is an absentee father - making promises to his son that he doesn't keep and just generally not being there for him.

When Jared's new teacher at school asks them to write letters to Soldiers... it opens a whole new door for them when Sergeant Vince Carrera not only responds but ends up literally at their door, hoping to teach 10-year-old Jared how to play baseball. I was glad to see the Mom, always went along with them to the park, and it was evident to see an interest quickly developing between Dana and the handsome Soldier, Vince.

Also, I adored Vince's Southern accent... it was so sweet, it made his character seem even more charming and endearing. And Jared, the ten year old boy, was absolutely adorable! Some of the things he said were just soooo cute! One line I particularly liked - was when Vince & his mother were going out on a date - and he told his Grandmother as they left, "I think he'll be good for her!" I loved that statement and that he and his mother always thought of things to be thankful for when he said his prayers at the end of each day, and how he still held his teddybear close at night, and how he wanted so much to belong and make friends with the other boys, while playing baseball.

Lori Loughlin (Dana) is as lovely and beautiful, as ever... Johnny Messner (Vince), who plays the Soldier, was quite the Southern Gentleman and handsome, especially in his military uniform, and Stefanie Powers (Dana’s mother, Louise), is incredibly beautiful, too! Stefanie was the perfect choice to play Lori's caring, sweet, and very active mother! The casting was perfect!

"Meet My Mom" is a sweet and refreshing film. There are some sweet simple kissing scenes between Dana and Vince, as they are dating, and that is all. There is no language or violence, just a nice little story about life and love.

This movie makes us all appreciate all the more what our Military does for us on a daily basis and all of the sacrifices they make in their lives, as well as their families. THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I won't spoil it, but there is a sweet, happy ending that leaves you wanting more. Can I say... Sequel, Please!!!! May I suggest, "Marry My Mom"!!!

Thank you Hallmark Channel... for making another warm and wonderful family movie!
