They will be released on home video in time for the holiday season.

from the INCEPTION MEDIA GROUP - PRESS RELEASE:

"Growing the Big One" will premiere nationally on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, October 23. The holiday-themed film is about radio talk show host Emma Silver (Shannen Doherty, “Charmed,” Beverly Hills, 90210”) who finds some big life changes in store when her grandfather’s passing brings her back home to Valleyville, a sleepy town known for its annual giant pumpkin-growing contest. Upon discovering her grandfather’s secret journal, she decides to pay off his massive farm debts by winning the contest’s $50,000 grand prize. Along the way, she strikes sparks with her handsome neighbor who wants to teach her how to cultivate a record-breaking prize-winner. Torn between a new hit gardening show, the possible love of a lifetime, a quirky town full of colorful characters and a fast-approaching deadline that could take her back to the big city, Emma has to make some big decisions. This irresistible Hallmark Channel original film is a down-home charmer that creates the perfect recipe for love and laughs.

“Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith” aired on the Hallmark Channel in 2009, and features Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated actress Cybill Shepherd ("Moonlighting", “Cybill”) as Alice, a woman who rebounds from divorce by enrolling in Smith College to become a teacher more than 20 years after dropping out of school. A housing shortage places her with a much younger roommate who thinks she has enough difficulty in her life already. Their school year together promises lots of major life changes including a glamorous makeover, a romantic rivalry over their charming poetry teacher and Alice’s surprise starring role on the school’s basketball team. Along the way they both get a valuable education neither of them could have possibly expected. This winning story of friendship, the power of perseverance and the beauty of self-discovery graduates with top honors.

Both films will be released on home video in the fall.
I will post the DVDs on my blog when they are available to order.

Mrs. Washington goes to Smith

MOVIE REVIEW

Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith:

Network: Hallmark Channel

Original Air Date: August 1, 2009

CAST:

Cybill Shepherd ... Alice Washington
Jeffrey Nordling ... Professor Terry O’Neil
Corri English ... Zoe Burns

PLOT:

from Hallmark Channel-

Cybill Shepherd (“Cybill”) stars in “Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith,” an original movie about a fortysomething woman who returns to Smith College to finish her interrupted education and in the process befriends her troubled young roommate and also ends up in an unexpected but off-limits romance.

Alice Washington (Shepherd), a recent divorcee and mother of two adult children, arrives at Smith College as an “Ada Comstock Scholar,” a group of women of various ages who didn’t finish their college educations and are now back to complete their degrees.

College takes some getting used to for Alice who looks and feels a little out of place, showing up at her dorm’s first social in a designer dress and high heels. And due to a mix-up in room assignments, Alice gets a surprise roommate: Zoe Burns (Corri English, “The Bedford Diaries”), a 20-year-old transfer student who rides a Vespa and is constantly changing the color of her spiky hair. Neither one is impressed with the other.

But before long Alice starts to feel at home at Smith and is enjoying her classes, especially one taught by her and Zoe’s English teacher, Professor O’Neill (Jeffrey Nordling, “24,” “Once & Again”). After both Alice and Zoe face some obstacles, both let down their guard and find they have much to learn and offer one another.

Movie Review:
If I were grading this "Going Back to School" Movie... then I'd probably give it a "B".
I found myself rooting for Alice, in spite of all the things that discouraged her from fulfilling her education. It was wonderful to see her determination in achieving her goals - and then watch her succeed!

See or Skip:

See, encouraging movie.

Would not be entertaining for children.
