"High Flying Romance" is currently new (August, 2021) to Hallmark Movies Now (Hallmark's streaming service). Hallmark's web-site is now showing an air date for this family-friendly movie on the Hallmark Channel in September. I have watched this movie - so look for my review below and if you've seen this, too, and you would like to share a review, please do so in comments below.
Starring: Jessica Lowndes and Christopher Russell
Storyline: Hannah falls for more than teaching music when woodworker Gavin and his nine-year-old daughter, Parker, move back to town after his wife’s passing. With a shared interest in the upcoming kite festival, Hannah becomes smitten with Gavin. But with an ex-girlfriend, Katie, who makes it clear she no longer wants to be the ex, Hannah doesn’t know what Gavin’s true feelings are for her, or who he’ll choose to be with.
Reviews:
π "High Flying Romance - This is such a lighthearted, pleasant, family-friendly movie. When widower Gavin McQueen (Christopher Russell, "Chasing Waterfalls") returns to his hometown with his young daughter, Parker (AmΓ©lie Will Wolf), he shares time with his parents and friends, including an old, clingy girlfriend, Katie Longhorn (portrayed by Donna Benedicto). (In fact, Donna also plays the same sort of role opposite of Christopher Russell in "Love in the Forecast.") In addition to the old girlfriend, Gavin also catches up with another friend from his youth, Hannah Adams (Jessica Lowndes), who teaches Gavin's daughter, Parker, how to play the piano. Jessica’s piano playing and singing is quite beautiful in the movie. I also loved that Hannah's sister and best friend was played by the always expressive actress, Lisa Durupt (the sister from "Murder She Baked")! She is great at giving relationship advice. It’s obvious to everyone, as Hannah befriends the young girl, a connection between Hannah and Gavin is growing, as well. There’s also a traditional kite festival that everyone in the small town seems to be preparing for, children and adults. One moment that I thought was especially nice in the movie was one night when Gavin tucked his daughter, Parker, into bed and she said her prayers, “Now I lay me down to sleep...” That was such a heartwarming, precious moment. Hopefully, this scene and the ones with the bicycle ride and kites flying will bring to mind wonderful memories for you, as it did for me. Overall, this movie is predictable, at times, but I enjoyed it being simple and sweet. This is an ideal watch for the whole family!" ~Net
π "I saw a little of this one on Youtube too. Basically like any other. Interesting they are just sticking it in now." ~Misty
π "I saw this earlier in the year on my lap top but wanted to wait to see it again in full screen as it does seem to make a considerable difference. It was a pleasant enough family movie and certainly family friendly although I didn't enjoy the pairing Of Christopher Russll and Jessica Lowndes just as much as in Love In The Forecast. Considering the title I didn't think there was much time given to the scenes including the kites. Jessica Lowndes seems to have a few detractors and tends to get much criticism especially of her musical ability but I have to say for me the musical input in this movie was excellent. Overall I thought it was a bit slow moving me and the romance I felt was pretty low-key. To me a nice movie to pass a couple of hours in the afternoon rather than at night!" - Florence
