Lost in Paradise

Premieres Saturday January 3 8/7c

Starring Lacey Chabert and Ian Harding

When the founder of a high-end fashion company gets marooned on an "deserted" island with a chef, romance blossoms as they work together to survive.

Movie Reviews:

🎬 Lost in Paradise is 1 giant barrel of laughs! -Maria

🎬 I am here to add my review of the newest Hallmark movie "Lost in Paradise". Let me start out by saying there were a few times we had to suspend reality but overall it was a fantastic movie. There was so much goodness to savor. Great scenery, funny dialog, amazing chemistry, good plot and a few twists quite honestly I did not expect. Ian should be the lead more often. He is handsome, easygoing and seriously great in this movie. So charming! He and Lacey were a nice match and believable as a couple. Also, some of the supporting cast was very good too. I will definitely watch it again with my hubby.~Joan

🎬 Lost in Paradise- just watched today and loved it! Lacey was perfect for the role-so genuine, and fun. I had thought they might make her character rich/uptight but she they really gave her depth and a sweet heart. I can't imagine anyone better for it-humor and heart. The male lead was also great in my opinion and loved them together. It's actually a re-watch for me which is saying a lot! ~LR (aka Lizzy)

🎬 Aside from Lost in Paradise being completely unrealistic with that impossible emergency landing and rafting in the storm to find another island 😂 it was a cute movie! I really enjoy Ian (I first watched him in Pretty Little Liars on ABC family when I was a teen) and the location was a fun one for them I’m sure! ~Paula

🎬 I loved "Lost in Paradise" I recorded it and have watched it several times. ~Namegirl

🎬 I also enjoyed Lost in Paradise! I thought it was such a fun watch! The banter & chemistry with Lacey Chabert & Ian Harding was top-notch! This could be my favorite rom-com for the year. I also loved Lacey's fashions, even while stranded on the island, and her doggie is sooo cute! Overall, this movie is family-friendly, entertaining, and will leave you smiling! ~Net

A Melbourne Match

Premieres Saturday January 10 8/7c

Starring Mallory Jansen and Ryan Corr

Georgie, a travel writer, travels to Melbourne for an assignment where she meets Zach, an Australian ex-footballer who agrees to be her tour guide and shows her that there's more to life than work.

Movie Reviews:

🎬 A Melbourne Match is so wonderful! –Maria

🎬 A Melbourne Match is such a great, heartwarming movie. The location, the actors, the story. Everything was just great. I like travel movies. Australia is such an interesting country. I liked the actors. I found out that Ryan Corr is from Melbourne, so he was in his element. I like Mallory Jansen and, btw, she's the writer of the movie, and you can feel how much she enjoys playing her role. And I enjoyed watching the movie. ~Oksanka

🎬 "A Melbourne Match" was so great! The location was stunning. The leads had amazing chemistry. The story was also good and not your typical overused plot. I think Mallory did a wonderful job, on the script she penned. She is a really lovely actress and the camera just adores her. She is stunning! Anyway, January movies, are so much fun, because I get to sit back and enjoy traveling to far away places without leaving the comfort of my couch! LOL ~Joan

🎬 I did watch the Mallory Jenson one, but I honestly deleted it after about 20 min….she just always falls so flat for me! But I may go and record it again since some on here have loved it! ~Paula

🎬 A Melbourne Match – This one just wasn’t quite a perfect match for me, though there were definitely things I liked. Mallory Janson was super sweet and likable, and she brought such warmth to her character, Georgie. At times, though, Georgie seemed very unsure of herself, and I found myself wishing she had a little more confidence.

The leads did have some nice chemistry; however, Zach came across as a bit pushy. Sure, we all need encouragement, but since she was a complete stranger to him, it just felt odd that he was pushing her into doing things – beyond her comfort zone.

Also, when Georgie and Zach first meet he is late picking her up at the airport because his father was supposed to be the one doing so and couldn’t be there, and Zach had to fill in, even though he was busy on another job. Yet later on, when she asks him to show her around, he suddenly seems to have endless free time to be her personal tour guide for several days. It just didn’t quite add up for me. What happened to his other job?

That said, Australia is a lovely backdrop for the movie, and the koala is absolutely adorable. And, I must admit, I loved when Zach called her Georgie-girl! That was very endearing and sweet! Overall, it’s still a pleasant, lighted-hearted watch and family-friendly. ~Net

Love on the Amazon

Premieres Saturday January 17 8/7c

Starring Jaicy Elliott and Rafael de la Fuente

Gabby travels to the Amazon to reach her sister, a researcher, and meets a rugged riverboat Captain named Ryder.

Movie Reviews:

🎬 I thought Love on the Amazon was terrible, very badly acted and a very interesting plot. I haven’t loved any of the winter escape movies so far, but this was the worst, I’m hoping the last two will be better ~Anonymous

🎬 I actually liked the Love on the Amazon one. HOWEVER, I totally agree with you. They are doing way too many films (in my opinion) with out of the US locations. I find the ones with characters with heavy accents hard to understand. The foreign customs are a little interesting but I'd prefer them to be set in the USA somewhere (yes, I know they are filmed in Canada but that's okay too.) ~Anonymous

Caught by Love

Premieres Saturday January 24 8/7c

Starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Luke Macfarlane

While on a journey of self-discovery, a resort guest gets swept into an undercover investigation for stolen jewels that turns into an unexpected and adventurous romance.

Movie Review:

🎬 Caught by Love was a cute movie. Rachel and Luke had very good chemistry, but Luke usually has great chemistry with all his leads. Story line is definitely different and kept me guessing who the "buyer" was until the end. Comical at times too! ~ Joyce in Carolina

🎬 Caught by Love – This movie was super fun! I loved how Rachael Leigh Cook’s character, Annie, got unexpectedly wrapped up in helping to solve a mystery! Rachael is always sweet, expressive, and so likeable. And her vacation wardrobe in this movie was stylish and colorful… perfectly suited for the beautiful resort setting.

Annie and the undercover detective Jake start out with an easy-going friendship that leads to sparks along the way as they unravel clues and narrow down suspects connected to the missing necklace. It was especially nice that the mystery revolved around stolen jewelry and not a murder.

One bit of caution: This movie does take place at a vacation resort, so there are scenes with women in swimsuits and men shirtless in shorts. It’s not excessive, but just wanted to mention it – in case it was of concern to anyone here.

Overall, it is a very fun romantic-comedy with lots of mystery – which made it delightful, intriguing, and lightheartedly suspenseful to watch. ~Net

Missing the Boat

Premieres Saturday January 31 8/7c

Starring Emilie Ullerup and Kristoffer Polaha

Strangers Kelly and Parker both end up on the same Italian cruise, but after missing the boat during a stop, they're forced to team up and race across southern Italy to catch up.

Movie Reviews:

🎬 Missing the Boat did not disappoint! It's laugh out loud funny at times. My husband even liked this one and laughed right along with me. Great acting and chemistry between Kris and Emilie which I was not surprised to see. Story line is different which is refreshing. Joyce in Carolina

🎬 Missing the Boat-
My two favorite Comedies of all time:
1938- Bringing up Baby
1944- Arsenic and old Lace
Emilie & Kristoffer were Brilliant in this movie ♥️♥️
The acting, the screenplay, scenery, supporting cast were just phenomenal.
My expectations for a reunion after 10 year's far exceeded my hopes. ~ Kathy♥️Texas

🎬 We loved Missing the Boat too! Winter Escape finished with the best movie. Kris & Emilie have great chemistry once again just like their Christmas movie. Christie

🎬 "Missing the Boat" was delightful!!! The leads were so good together. I liked Kristoffer Polaha, and Emilie Ullerup. I loved Kris' comment on I have was born to ride a Vespa. ~Namegirl

🎬 Missing the Boat- So I love storylines like this, where so many things happen as they are trying to make it home. And I love both actors individually, just together idk they seemed more like cousins to me. I think it was a fun watch, I would watch it again, but not a top romantic comedy I would try to catch every year. ~Paula

🎬 I haven't enjoyed a movie as much as I enjoyed Missing The Boat in a LONG TIME. Like many said, it is laugh out loud funny.

The part where they are at the "Dr" for his back, I died laughing when he is sitting there for so long and then says "so are you going to look at my back?". I mean KP is just hilarious and this movie was made for KP and Emelie. They were just so funny and great together. I never wanted them to get back on the boat.

Now, of course, it would not be a Hallmark movie if there weren't some just really bad and unrealistic things. Take that storm for instance, they could not get on the boat cause of a thunderstorm? Really????

And seriously, the guy who was Parkers boss, was about the worst actor I have ever seen. There were pretty much 4 people in the movie, Parker, Kelly, Parkers sis, and his boss. There wasn't any better of an actor to play the boss? He was terrible, I am sorry. But it was distracting to say they least, when he was on.

And BTW, they are on a cruise, and there were at least 2 or 3 places that it was just Kelly, or just the sis, and NOBODY around for miles on the boat. Really???? At one point, the boss and sister were at the pool on the boat, and there was like 2 other people. I do not know what cruise that is, but when I went, there were lots of people in or at the pool.

But other than those few things, I forgot I was watching a Hallmark movie. When Kris and Emelie were on, and interacting with others off the boat, it was so good. I saved and will watch again.

What was even better for me, I wasn't even thinking about Kris and Emelie when they were together in Hearts of Christmas. Its so hard when pairs have been together in other movies, to not compare, but it was like these 2 were 2 different people, and thats good acting. I just loved this movie. Sabrina

🎬 Missing the Boat was really cute. -Maria

🎬 "Missed the Boat" was another favorite of mine I liked Emilie and Kristoffer. They need to make another movie together. Just enough slapstick to get a chuckle out of me. ~Namegirl

🎬 Missing the Boat is such a delightful movie and when you have a pairing like Emilie Ullerup and Kristoffer Polaha, you pretty much know - it's going to be good!

Of course, as the title suggests, they miss the boat, and watching them try to catch it again, is such a fantastic, comical trip!

The only scene I didn't love - was when Emilie's character takes Kristoffer's to this new-age type woman for help with his aching back. The woman says she isn't new-age, but then I noticed the usual idol statues around which I didn't love - so I fast-forwarded that part.

Without that scene, I thought it was most fun - a great watch!

I also thought it was nice that a certain character who makes a mistake, ends up showing remorse and asks for forgiveness. That was a really nice extra detail to this romantic-comedy. ~Net

Episode 1 - Review:

“Crossroad Springs” is such a heartwarming look at life on a family ranch. You really feel the love, hard work, and sense of community. It was comforting to watch the characters face challenges and lean on each other. Episode one does a wonderful job of introducing us to the Hamilton family, those in their community, and their neighbor/rival, Daniel Newman. (By the way, Jesse Hutch plays the character very well!) I loved all of the little touches of faith, and I’m looking forward to the next episode! -Net

☀️ SHINING HIS LIGHT: ☀️

The premiere of “Crossroad Springs” brought these scriptures to my mind; they remind us that with family, friends, and God at the center, even the toughest days can feel lighter....

“Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.”
Proverbs 16:3

“Two are better than one…
for if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

🎄✨ Happy 4 Months ’til Christmas Day!!! ✨🎄 (See Which Christmas Movie I Chose To Mark This Day & Share Your Pick!)

Today is August 25th, which means...

🎄✨ Happy 4 Months ’til Christmas Day!!! ✨🎄

It’s time to *Mark the 25th* as part of our monthly Countdown to Christmas celebration!

Not only are we *4 MONTHS away from CHRISTMAS DAY*... but the Christmas movie season is just *2 months away*... beginning in late October! 🎅📺 Can you feel the excitement building, too, as each day goes by!?!?!

Here at *It’s a Wonderful Movie*, we love celebrating the 25th of each month with something festive, whether it’s a Christmas movie, a classic holiday cartoon, or anything that brings a little Christmas cheer into our day. It’s such a fun way to keep that joyful spirit alive all year long.

If you’re watching something Christmassy today (or sometime this week), please share in the comments below your pick... I always love hearing your movie choices!

🎥 My Christmas movie pick is… "Hearts of Christmas," starring Emilie Ullerup and Kristoffer Polaha. It’s such a heartwarming story about service, the gift of life, and giving to those in need.

Hearts of Christmas - image: Hallmark Media

Hearts of Christmas - image: Hallmark Media

And in case you haven't heard... Kristoffer Polaha is currently filming his brand-new Hallmark Christmas movie, "A Grand Ole Opry Christmas," alongside Nikki DeLoach and Sharon Lawrence! How wonderful is that? Sharon Lawrence, of course, also co-starred with Kristoffer in "Hearts of Christmas," so it’s a special reunion.

Plus, we know Country Singer Brad Paisley will also be in "A Grand Ole Opry Christmas," and it was revealed on the Today Show just this morning that these Country Music stars will also make a cameo appearance: Megan Moroney, Bill Anderson, Jamey Johnson, Rhett Atkins, Dailey & Vincet, Drew Baldridge, Maggie Baugh, Suzy Bogguss, Mickey Guyton, Riders in the Sky, Tigirlily Gold, Pam Tillis, and more!

A Grand Ole Opry Christmas on set - image: Kristoffer Polaha

Meanwhile, Kristoffer Polaha's "Hearts of Christmas" co-star, Emilie Ullerup, has an all-new (non-holiday) movie premiering this Saturday on the Hallmark Channel, titled "Catch of the Day," with Michael Rady! It looks like such a sweet and fun story, definitely one to add to our weekend watchlist!

Catch of the Day - image: Hallmark Media

And since we’re talking about Michael Rady, I’m tempted to sneak in one of his Christmas movies this week, one of my all-time favorites, in honor of his upcoming premiere this weekend. Longtime followers here at It's a Wonderful Movie might already know which one I mean… here’s a little hint: its title reflects one of the truest gifts of the season! Any guesses which one it is? 🎄

We have so much to look forward to in the weeks ahead! Shouldn't be too long now 'til we start hearing those full Christmas movie announcements from each channel... stay tuned!!!✨

Wishing you a day
that is truly…
Merry & Bright!🎄❤️

🐟 Hallmark Announces Summer Nights Movie "Catch of the Day" (Plus, an Extra Tasty Treat 🍨)

Wonderful news! Hallmark Channel is reeling in romance and flavor this summer with the movie, Catch of the Day, starring Emilie Ullerup (Chesapeake Shores) and Michael Rady (A Joyous Christmas).

This new film, revealed by TVInsider, is part of Hallmark’s Summer Nights lineup and is set to premiere Saturday, August 30th, at 8/7c.

Also, spicing things up is culinary expert and bestselling author Katie Lee Biegel, who not only co-wrote the movie but also appears on screen, bringing her passion for food to life in a story that blends heartfelt connection with coastal charm.

It's Not Complicated: Simple Recipes for Every Day
by Katie Lee Biegel

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Montauk, Catch of the Day is described as a feel-good celebration of seaside living, great food, and the ties that bring us home.

Storyline via Hallmark Media: Sophie (Ullerup) is a rising culinary star on the verge of becoming executive chef at a high-end Manhattan restaurant. But when her sister Abigail calls with news that their beloved family seafood spot in Montauk is floundering, Sophie returns home to help. What was meant to be a short visit turns into a journey of rediscovery, of her roots, her passion for cooking, and a surprising second chance at love with her teenage crush, Cam (Rady), a local fisherman whose quiet strength and charm leave Sophie rethinking everything she thought she wanted. Lee also appears in a cameo as a food blogger who plays a pivotal role in the plot.

On the set of Double Scoop - images via: Chondra Pierce Instagram

Plus, I also wanted to mention, there's another Hallmark movie anticipated to premiere during Hallmark's Summer Nights in August, titled Double Scoop! And if you're guessing it has something to do with ice cream, you're right!

The movie stars Taylor Cole and Ryan McPartlin and there's a wonderful supporting cast that includes: Elisha Donovan, Patrick Muldoon, Chondra Pierce, Jacklyn Collier, and more!!!

Storyline via IMDB: Nora (Taylor Cole) and James (Ryan McPartlin) were once the dream team at a top New York ad agency, but now they're locked in a frosty competition for the sweetest client of all: a charming small-town dairy farm that churns out the most delectable artisan ice cream in the country.

I'm hoping this ice cream-themed movie will turn out to be a tasty treat!

Two side notes:

#1 - As I mentioned above, Christian Comedienne Chondra Pierce is among the Double Scoop supporting cast. I have seen her speak in person, and she was absolutely wonderful. I laughed so hard, and through her testimony, I cried. If you have the chance to see her speak, I encourage you to do so. You can see her tour date schedule - here.

#2 - If you haven’t checked out Chonda Pierce’s comedy Roll With It yet, it’s currently streaming on Roku (free with ads). It’s seriously funny and a great watch from start to finish! One small caution: Roll With It is generally family-friendly, though there is a brief conversation about online dating that may not be ideal for younger viewers. A woman also mentions she is a single mother of a young child. Overall, the heart and humor in this movie are such a joy to watch!

Happy Movie-Watching!
