Tuesday Thoughts Following Memorial Day and Prayer Request for Hallmark Actress ➤➤

Memorial Day -

I hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing Memorial Day weekend.

My family and I attended a Memorial Day ceremony that honored those brave souls in our military who made the ultimate sacrifice and their Gold Star Mothers and families. As stories were shared of their courageous heroism, tears filled all of our eyes, giving our already grateful hearts a renewed sense of gratitude for the incredible sacrifices made on our behalf for our freedom today.

When I hear the stories of war, I am always grateful to those in my family who served, including my Daddy, Grandpa, several Uncles (one was a Navy Chaplain), and Cousins. All returned home, Praise God! However, growing up, I always heard stories of how my Great-Uncle was never the same after returning home from World War II. He was on the frontline of the battle, and I can only imagine the horrors he saw. My heart goes out to those who return with not only physical wounds, but emotional scars, as well.

I pray Memorial Day will always remain a sacred day of remembrance and honor.

Storms -

I also wanted to mention that my prayers are going out to those across the Heartland, Midwest, Ohio Valley, East Coast, etc... where the storms badly hit over the weekend. It was heartbreaking to hear about the loss of life. I pray all of you and your property were safe. This has been quite a brutal spring with storm outbreaks of Tornadoes and strong winds. In fact, one of the storms that came through last week had a burst of strong wind that took down a large old maple tree in our backyard. Thankfully, it missed our home, but when it fell, it also damaged some of our wood fencing, which extends around our pastures and fields. We are grateful our damage is small and can be fixed, and our hearts and prayers go out to those who lost much more.

When Calls the Heart -

Briefly, I wanted to express how much I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday night's episode of When Calls the Heart titled Brother's Keeper.

When Elizabeth's brother-n-law, Tom, is in trouble and cannot repay his debt, Nathan spearheads an idea to bring everyone together for a Hope Valley choir festival fundraiser—Voices of the Valley. In this episode, there is cheerful, lively music from that time period and a beautiful, meaningful rendition of Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

Overall, it was a delightful episode, and yes, it had a bit of romance with a very special dance, but more importantly, I appreciated how faith was an integral part of this story. Even the episode's title, Brother's Keeper, is a reference to scripture, Genesis 4:9.

The scenes with Pastor Joseph and his brother, Jacob, who have been estranged for years due to a past disagreement, were especially enjoyable. Watching the two brothers renew their friendship and hearing Jacob's prayer over the Canfield's meal (after he admitted he hadn't attended church in years) touched my heart deeply and brought tears to my eyes. The mighty power of love and forgiveness never ceases to amaze me.

Prayer Request -

Also, if you follow When Calls the Heart on social media, then you have likely seen this news, but for those of you who haven't, the When Calls the Heart cast members are sharing their love and support for one of their own, who has had an unknown medical emergency.

Mamie Laverock, who portrayed Rosaleen Sullivan on When Calls the Heart, the daughter of Molly (Johannah Newmarch), is currently in a hospital in Vancouver, Canada

To support their medical bills, her mother and stepfather have set up a GoFundMe page, where they recently shared this tragic update: "We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories. She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support."

It is such a sad situation. If you'd like to give or read more details, visit Mamie's GoFundMe page.

Please join me in lifting sweet Mamie and her family up in prayer.

God bless you all,

🌟 Memorial Day Weekend 2024 🌟 See Patriotic TV Specials, Movies, Marathons, and More ➤➤

Blessings to you all
on this
Memorial Day holiday weekend!

On this Memorial Day, we pause and remember the sacrifices made by our military for the freedoms we hold near and dear today.

May we cherish those freedoms as we gather with family and friends and enjoy special times together during this unofficial kick-off to Summer!

Over the holiday weekend, there will be Patriotic TV Specials, marathons, and a new episode of When Calls the Heart. Based on the promo pictures released for Episode 8, I am once again getting the feel of the classic film, The Music Man, with it's Americana spirit of yesteryear.

There are no NEW TV movies this weekend; however, the Hallmark Channel will begin its *Passport to Love* movies next week at the beginning of June!

If you'd like to watch or record any of the special movies or shows on TV this weekend, I've included some of the highlights below...

The network's annual Memorial Day Weekend War Movie Marathon begins Friday, May 24th, and ends on Monday night, May 27th.

Films being shown include: The Human Comedy, They Were Expendable, Wings for the Eagle, Memphis Belle, The Best Years of Our Lives, Three Came Home, etc...

Please note: I have not seen all of these classic films, and I don't recommend war movies, due to violence, for young children. I am beyond grateful for our military and all the sacrifices they have made (and continue to make) for our freedom.

⭐️ Mark the 25th on May 25th -

I brought the twinkling Christmas lights back to honor this occasion!

This weekend, on Saturday, May 25th, we mark 7 months 'til Christmas! And, it's even sooner for Christmas in July movies, and the Christmas movie season will, of course, return after that in October!

By the way, the Hallmark Channel is asking viewers to take part in a special Christmas in July Fan Favorite Marathon vote. Starting May 27th, you can vote for your favorite Christmas movies that you would like to see on the channel during their annual Christmas In July movie event. New polls will be unveiled every week.

In honor of the 25th, we try to watch something Christmassy on this day - a movie, cartoon, etc... If you'd like to participate, simply share what Christmas movie/show you plan to watch to *Mark the 25th* in comments below.

I'm not sure I'll be able to squeeze in a Christmas movie over this busy Memorial Day Weekend, but when I have a chance soon, I plan to watch USS Christmas, starring Trevor Donovan and Jen Lilley. It's such a wonderful film that honors our military, past and present.

See the Christmas TV Schedule for upcoming Christmas movies + Christmas in July!

Blessings to you all on this Memorial Day Weekend.

In addition to the movies above, this weekend will also be filled with all kinds of special sporting events you can see on TV—the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500, NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600, Major League Baseball, UFL Football, Pickleball, NBA Conference Finals, WNBA Basketball, Stanley Cup Playoffs Conference Finals, PGA Tour Golf, and more! It's quite a busy weekend!

As I mentioned above, this Saturday, May 25th, also marks 7 months until Christmas day, and one of the Christmas movies airing Friday night on the Hallmark Channel is Northern Lights of Christmas. This, of course, brought to mind the recent spectacular sighting of the Northern Lights seen widely across the U.S., and I just had to ask, did any of you see the incredible viewing on Friday, May 10th? In the afternoon, our local weatherman told us that it wouldn't be possible for us to see them due to cloud coverage, but surprise, that evening, the clouds separated just enough, and we had a glorious viewing of a colorful sky of Northern Lights! It was an amazing sight, and I hope many of you saw them that day, as well, or you have been able to see them at some point!

Although I'm expecting to be fairly busy with my family over this holiday weekend, I'm still planning to watch When Calls the Heart on Sunday evening. I am especially looking forward to seeing this special scene (see sneak peek below) with Allie and Nathan singing "By the Beautiful Sea."

This old-fashioned song, "By the Beautiful Sea," was written in 1914; it is a piece of Americana apple pie! Since seeing this When Calls the Heart sneak peek on Monday, I've been humming this sweet little tune all week!

I hope you all have a safe, peaceful, and pleasant
Memorial Day weekend!

Blessings to you all,
Net

🎬 Alexa and Carlos PenaVega at the 'Mr. Manhattan' Red Carpet Premiere - SEE HERE:

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega are officially back in the spotlight again after taking some time off to be with their family following the loss of their infant daughter, Indy Rex, in April.

The couple cheerfully walked the red carpet side-by-side at the Kentucky Theatre in Lexington, Kentucky, on Wednesday, May 22nd, to premiere their new Great American Pure Flix family movie, Mr. Manhattan.

Alexa and Carlos previously starred together in a number of TV movies, including Enchanted Christmas, Love at Sea, (three) Picture Perfect Mysteries, Love in the Limelight, Never too Late to Celebrate, and other projects!

With great excitement and enthusiasm, the two shared details on their new film, highlighting that Mr. Manhattan comes out today, Thursday, May 23rd, on the faith and family streamer, Great American Pure Flix. Carlos also mentioned their movie should come out in August on Great American Family!

Great American Family is currently stating that Mr. Manhattan will come to their network sometime this Fall, so we will have to wait and see when the official premiere date will be.

Video from the red carpet:
(May take a few seconds to load, depending on your internet connection. Be sure to click the image below to play the video.)

In Mr. Manhattan Carlos PenaVega plays an ambitious attorney who struggles to balance his career and the demands of fatherhood after becoming caretaker to his niece and nephew. Along the way, he’s forced to reevaluate his priorities and lost faith.

Recently, Carlos and Alexa PenaVega sat down for an interview with CBN News - to share their film experience and faith journey, and I wanted to share this inspirational interview with all of you.

I also wanted to share a delightful interview with Maximo Henry Mayfield and Melody Rose, the child actors from Mr. Manhattan.

And, one more video...
Behind the scenes of Mr. Manhattan:

If you'd like to see images from the Mr. Manhattan red carpet, please visit getty images. (I would've loved to have shared them here, but they are a little pricey.)

I am personally looking forward to watching Mr. Manhattan soon on Great American Pure Flix, and I hope many of you will be able to see this film through its streaming source or on Great American Family this Fall.

🎬 UPtv's June 2024 Movie Premieres - - SEE HERE:

UPtv is showing four rom-com movies in their schedule for June, 2024.

Please be sure to read the reviews for the first three movies below.

May The Best Wedding Win

Premiere Date: June 2, 2024

Storyline: When Tiffany’s fiancΓ©e calls off their wedding, she is heartbroken – that her dream wedding is off! After her frenemy snaps up the bookings for her own wedding, Tiffany hires an actor to be her groom.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ’ Reel One's May the Best Wedding Win is not clean (gay man and his 'lover') and is honestly really stupid and annoying. (on Peacock). -Maria

πŸ’ Sadly have to agree - this movie is one big waste of time. One of the weakest ROE movies I have ever watched - Florence

The Wedding Rule

Premiere Date: June 9, 2024

Storyline: Former childhood friends are bequeathed a restaurant on one condition: they must be married to claim the inheritance. Both being single, the race is on to find the “one”.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ’ "The Wedding Rule" from Reel One (Peacock streaming) – not family-friendly. Around 20 minutes in, a barista behaves like a silly middle school girl to convey his homosexual attraction to the uninterested male lead, even writing a heart and his phone number on the coffee cup. We see him fawning in a couple more scenes. Then, some language is tossed in: playing pin the tail on the donkey at a speed dating event, the two leads joke about being bad*** and jack***; later she exclaims "d*** it" when he correctly guesses a secret ingredient. There's also a scene with the male lead in nothing but a towel.

Beyond the disappointing content, the movie just didn't draw me in, hitting neither a particularly sweet nor fun note. I was game for an unrealistic plot, but the whole marry-a-stranger-in-3-weeks never even got believable traction in the script. Feels like this one should have sped straight to marry-each-other-to-save-the-restaurant-then-grow-to-realize-it's-actually-for-real as the bulk of the movie. Overall, it left me bummed about the squandered talent. Oh well! ~Alicia

πŸ’ Alicia, I actually quite liked this but then I particularly like Dennis Andres although certainly it's one of those where you have to suspend belief but there wasn't enough "unfriendly" content to spoil it for me.

The scene where Max had a bare chest was nothing you wouldn't see on a beach anywhere and the towel completely covered his lower half.

Not that it would have changed your opinion of the story line but you were unfortunate to watch it on Peacock.

I saw it through UP Faith & Family and they had done a bit of editing - taken out bad language and there was no scene where the barista wrote his phone number on the coffee cup for Max - Florence

A Match for the Prince

Premiere Date: June 16, 2024

Storyline: An acclaimed medieval romance novelist is hired to be a matchmaker for a real-life prince in a desperate attempt to find true love before the fixed royal wedding date.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ’ Reel One's A Match for the Prince is clean. (streaming on Peacock). -Maria

Discovering Love

Premiere Date: June 23, 2024

Storyline: An archeology professor must team up with a dig-first-ask-questions-later treasure hunter to find the long lost crown of Helen of Troy.
