"The Curious Caterer" is yet another reunion for Nikki DeLoach ("Five More Minutes") and Andrew Walker ("My Christmas Family Tree"). The two actors previously starred in three Hallmark movies together: A Dream of Christmas (2016), The Perfect Catch (2017) and Sweet Autumn (2020).
This will be their first MYSTERY movie together; however, Andrew already has a mystery film in his extensive Hallmark resume titled: "Wedding Planner Mystery."
The previous title for "The Curious Caterer" was "Dying for Chocolate: A Curious Caterer Mystery." The movie is based on the book, Dying for Chocolate, by author Diane Mott Davidson.
There have been rumors of Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker possibly starring in a Hallmark mystery for quite some time. Andrew recently shared part of the script on Instagram and an on-the-set picture - seen above.
Nikki DeLoach shared the image above on Instagram with the caption:
Look for "The Curious Caterer" this April (currently showing Sunday, April 10th) on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries!
Wow!! These two are always great together and now we get a mystery! Win win!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pairing!

I prefer Dying for Chocolate: A Curious Caterer Mystery
ReplyDeleteTerrific news! Really interested in new mysteries! Seems like a number of the Hallmark Mystery series I enjoyed are no longer being produced.....so new mysteries are most welcome!!
ReplyDeleteYet another new mystery series when they haven't even finished the higher rated popular mysteries. This is ridiculous.

What is the meaning of healing music?
ReplyDeleteSound healing therapy uses aspects of music to improve physical and emotional health and well-being. The person being treated partakes in the experience with a trained practitioner. Music therapy may involve: listening to music. singing along to music.
This movie is based on book #2 in a series of 17 books. The book originally came out 30 years ago, in 1992. Does not sound too great to me, based on that, because I like to read the books before I see the movies and I have no interest in this book. Why not more episodes of mystery series we already enjoy, like Mystery 101??
ReplyDeleteI hope this one is more family friendly than her last non Christmas movie
ReplyDeleteNikki's last movie WAS a Christmas movie, one of the best of the season, Five More Minutes.
ReplyDeleteTranslation. Last movie that wasn’t a Christmas movie, not last movie. I also enjoyed Five More Minuets. It was family friendly where as the other one was not.
DeleteAnything with Andrew Walker is a win! Looking forward to seeing the new movie.
ReplyDeleteI loved reading the books. Not who I would have cast. Hope they do all the books, I’m sure it will be good.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us familiar with this book series by Diane Mott Davidson, the script for this TV movie bears almost no resemblance, and has ruined most of the major characters.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing that with us. I know there have been other books-to-Hallmark-movie that disappointed the readers, as well. Such as: Aurora Teagarden, Murder, She Baked, At Home in Mitford, and some of the Love Comes Softly films. I know just how you feel. Many of the later Love Comes Softly movies had absolutely no relation to the books whatsoever.
DeleteAgain, thank you! I shared your comment with the other reviews for "Curious Caterer: Dying for Chocolate" here:

It was ridiculous. Scruffy, unshaven leading men in Hallmark movies is getting so darn old, and then there’s the nosy but helpless female. If they’d bothered to cast based on the books, it might’ve been mildly interesting…chubby caterer, abusive ex-husband, fat and rich older best friend, and preteen son. What Hallmark produced is saccharin and boring.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. This mystery premise was better done as Murder, She Baked. The Curious Caterer looks beyond silly and implausible even for Hallmark. I enjoyed the Mystery 101 series but I also liked the Picture Perfect mysteries because it didn’t take itself so seriously and loved the diverse cast.
