On TV this Weekend : July 27 - 29

The 2012 Summer Olympics begin with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 27, 2012. You can see it on your Local NBC Station. (Please note: I have not researched this - so I do not know who they have planned for their entertainment.) I do know that in years past at each Opening Ceremony - I am always excited to see our American Athletes walk in to the stadiums holding our American flag with pride. On Saturday, July 28, 2012, the Olympic Games will officially begin.



Also on Saturday, July 28th, the Hallmark Channel will be airing some great movies... with an encore of How to Fall in Love, and two Hallmark Hall of Fame Movies: The Magic of Ordinary Days and The Russell Girl.



How to Fall in Love

On Sunday, July 29, 2012... there is a Love Comes Softly Marathon on the Hallmark Channel from 11 AM to 11 PM and Saddle up your Horses with a Heartland Marathon on GMC from 1 PM to 1 AM! Or, you can sing & dance with The Music Man on INSP and be inspired on BYU by Anne of Green Gables: the Sequel!

As one month ends and another begins this weekend... there are some things you might want to watch - if you plan to stay in and beat the heat, or perhaps it's a rainy day- wherever you are...

Get ready to laugh... there's an I Love Lucy Marathon on the Hallmark Channel.

And TCM is airing a classic movie from 1940, titled - Christmas In July. The movie stars Dick Powell as a man who is fooled into thinking he's won a $25,000 prize - and then goes on a Christmas shopping binge, even though it's the middle of July!




July 1, 2012 Sunday

The Lucy Marathon continues with a We Love Lucy Marathon on the Hallmark Channel.

Religious movies will air all day on the GMC. On July 2 they will begin a week of marathons, starting with the drama series, Heartland... and leading up to their premiere of 7th Heaven on their Network, next weekend.

Pride and Prejudice, the beloved 1996 movie version, that stars Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy will air on Ovation 2 PM - 8 PM.



Both Movies of The Music Man can be seen on TV... the original from 1962 and the remake from 2003.

Monumental, the documentary of our American Heritage, hosted by Kirk Cameron, can be seen on INSP. (Click here to see promo video.)

Two Classic Movie Love Stories on TV - Feb 8th & 9th

The first great Love Story is - The Music Man starring one of my favorite actresses, Shirley Jones, with Robert Preston. It's a wonderful musical... seeing Marion realize that love was all around her, but she never saw it... until there was him!

The second Love Story... is another Movie Musical - Meet Me in St. Louis. The movie stars another one of my favorite actresses... the absolutely wonderful, Judy Garland and  Tom Drake. It's not only a great family story, and Christmas movie, too - it's also often over-looked as a sweet love story with Esther Smith falling in love with "the boy next door."

Shirley Jones Movie Marathon - July 13th, 2011!

Classic Movie Stars from a bygone era are absolutely amazing! There are some "very rare" great talents today, however it is difficult to compare anyone to the likes, of say, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Shirley Temple, Van Johnson, Doris Day, Fred Astaire, Gordon MacRae, and Shirley Jones! They were in a class, certainly, all by themselves!

They could do it all... Act, Sing, Dance, and Entertain, like no other!

My all-time favorite Shirley Jones Movies are The Music Man and April Love. Unfortunately, April Love will not be shown, today, on TCM; however, The Music Man will be the very first Feature Presentation at 8 PM est. It was the first 'Shirley Jones' Movie I had ever seen... so amazing and colorful.... full of singing, dancing, intrigue, and romance! I love it and Shirley Jones in it!
