Sunday, May 16, 2021:

Storyline: When a waitress seeking Jeff’s help is poisoned, he must uncover the mysterious plot she’d tried to warn him about to solve her murder. Jeff’s (Metcalfe) reputation for “unofficially” solving the island’s most dangerous crimes is growing. When Katie (Britt McKillip, Trick ‘r Treat), a young waitress, finds herself way in over her head with the wrong people, she shows up seeking his help. Jeff urges her to go directly to the police but she’s too scared to follow through. When Katie sadly turns up dead – murdered by poison – Jeff wonders if he could have helped her and the crime becomes personal for him. Teamed up with Zee (Lind), he must unravel the dangerous plot Katie had tried to warn him about to catch her killer. The shocking case leaves Jeff and Zee little time to discuss the kiss they had shared in Boston and what it means for their relationship. Meanwhile, the mystery back in Boston deepens when Jeff and Andy (Nelson Wong, “Riverdale”) seem close to catching the person who shot Jeff, until an FBI agent shows up and takes over, shutting them out.

I want to caution that "Sweet Carolina" is a story about tragedy and loss. Due to this storyline, it's not a movie I would recommend for young children. I have a feeling this emotional story will pull at our heartstrings and hopefully, be a help to those who are going through a time of grieving. (I pray this touches your heart, kitkat, if you are able to watch.)

For those of you who are wondering why I am not promoting "Good Witch" this weekend, I personally don't believe in supporting this program, due to my Christian faith. The Bible specifically speaks against evil things like witchcraft. In Deuteronomy 18:9–12 it says, “When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, let no one be found among you who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.” Those powerful words in the last sentence of that verse always echo in my mind - “Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.” I believe - if we are trying to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord, then this is NOT a program we should choose to watch knowing how our Savior feels about this.

Please note: I have not pre-screened the new movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

And, for all of you who have been asking - I'm bringing back the *It's a Wonderful Movie Awards* - just for you! Look for it - coming very soon!!!

I pray you all have a peaceful and relaxing weekend.

Blessings to you all, Net

SHARING HIS LOVE:

Praise be to the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion
and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles,
so that we can comfort those
in any trouble with the comfort
we ourselves receive from God.

~2 Corinthians 1:3-4

  1. Net, thank you for bringing back the "Wonderful Movie Awards". I love those!

I'm looking forward to Lacey's new movie and the new Martha's Vineyard too! That's my second favorite mystery with Mystery 101 being my #1.

Blessings to you my friend. I don't know how you keep up and do all you do for us!! Love the Bible verse!

Net, the comment above saying "unknown" was me. I don't know why it says unknow??

    2. Joyce, Thank you for letting us know - not sure why it did that. Tech can be so touchy sometimes. Who knows?

Glad to hear you are happy to see the *It's a Wonderful Movie Awards* return! I'm keeping it a bit simpler this year with 3 categories, but it should still be interesting to see who wins! Thank you for participating and sharing in the fun.

      Blessings to you! :)

    2. Dear Net, It's refreshing and heartwarming to know that someone in your position to promote entertainment on Hallmark is so strongly determined to uphold your spiritual beliefs. Whenever a commercial for Good Witch comes on the screen, I immediately change the channel to avoid associating with demonic practices which that program promotes. "Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits"--1 Corinthians 15:33. Thank you, Net.

    3. e.t.m. - Your encouragement in the Lord is a true blessing to me. I do the very same thing with the commercials. Thank you for standing strong, too, and sharing that powerful scripture.

  5. Net, Sweet Carolina was a great blessing to me, even though in the beginning, the tears flowed. I felt the emotions in that family. What a beautiful story! Lacey was outstanding! All the actors were at their best! When actors are so good you feel you are living the story, they have done their jobs well. Would love to see more Hallmark movies with substance. I won't say anymore about Sweet Carolina because so many have not watched. The kids in this are exceptional in their roles. Once again, we see the little girl from The Angel Tree. I agree Net. Would not recommend for young children.

Looking forward to Cooking Up Love with Stephen Huszar. I will record that so I can watch Jesse Metcalfe's new mystery tonight.

As for Good Witch, I was convicted by the Holy Spirit about this. I am not judging anyone. It is just not for me.

    1. kitkat, Good to hear how you were touched by Sweet Carolina. I have yet to watch, but I'm sure I'll feel just as you did. I'll be sure to have the tissues nearby. I'm glad Hallmark shared the story in the commercial so we could sort of prepare ourselves for that sad moment.

Thank you for sharing how this movie blessed you - I posted your review here:

    2. kitkat, I agree with you all the way with Sweet Carolina. Very emotional at the beginning, and the whole movie is much more dramatic than most Hallmark movies. I thought Lacey and Cassidy Nugent (the little girl) were simply outstanding - very touching performances! And yes, I would love to see more movies like this!

  8. Loved the new mystery with Jesse Metcalfe! I will give Jesse a standing ovation for his acting abilities. For me, Jesse has had two other movies where his star shines; A Country Wedding and God's Not Dead 2.

Watched Cooking Up Love last night and enjoyed it too! Stephen Huszar is another favorite.

Must say Sweet Carolina was the winner of the three. That is a must have DVD! This movie is old Hallmark type. Thank you Hallmark!
