So - there you go! 8 New Christmas Movies!

In addition to the new ones, I'm going to treat myself and pull out my DVD of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" this weekend (since ABC is not playing it anymore), and I'm going to try to catch as many new Christmas movies as possible and record others. So far, I must admit, I've only watched 2, so I'm a little behind already.

I've seen "Christmas Tree Lane" and "Christmas on Ice." I thought "Christmas Tree Lane" was a delightful, traditional Hallmark romance. "Christmas on Ice" was fairly decent for Lifetime, minus the one moment our friend Jane mentioned. She was right on the mark! You can see her full comment -here! (Thank you, Jane!)

I want to be certain you all know - I have NOT pre-screened these NEW Christmas movies mentioned above.

If YOU happen to watch one of the new Christmas movies over the weekend and want to share whether or not it is a wholesome movie, please stop back by and leave a comment. I know everyone here would be grateful to know any information you are willing to share. You can always sign your name or use anonymous, whatever you like.

Have a Wonderful Weekend, Everyone!

Joyous Christmas Blessings! Net

  2. CBS also announced its classic specials airdates today, including FROSTY THE SNOWMAN and RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER

CBS Announces airdates for Frosty The Snowman and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer on WHIO-TV
Your favorite holiday classics are returning to WHIO-TV this year.

2 of the best holiday TV classics of all-time are returning to WHIO-TV this Holiday season. CBS announced when all of their animated holiday specials are airing this year. Check out the schedule below and be sure to mark your calendars and/or set your DVRs accordingly.
    FRIDAY, NOV. 27
    * Frosty The Snowman - 8 PM
Frosty, that “jolly, happy soul” whose old silk hat full of magic has turned him into a musical Christmas legend, once again demonstrates his unique showmanship. Narrated by Jimmy Durante, the special also includes the voices of Jackie Vernon (as Frosty) and Billy De Wolfe (as Professor Hinkle).

    * Frosty Returns - 8:30 PM
The magic still in his old silk hat, the holiday season’s perennially popular original dancing snowman continues his adventure and skates on the edge of danger. Jonathan Winters is the narrator with John Goodman as the voice of Frosty.
    SATURDAY, NOV. 28
    * Robbie The Reindeer: Hooves of Fire - 8 PM
In this animated special, Robbie (voiced by Ben Stiller) must train to compete in the Reindeer Races to become a part of the sleigh team for Santa (voiced by Jim Belushi).
    * Robbie The Reindeer: Legend of the Lost Tribe 8:30 PM
In the second of two 30-minute specials, Robbie battles Blitzen (voiced by Hugh Grant) in an effort to stop his nemesis’s launch of a reindeer theme park. Britney Spears, James Woods, Leah Remini, and Jerry Stiller are among the additional stars to lend their voices.
    * The Story of Santa Claus - 9 PM
This animated musical holiday special revolves around a gentle toymaker (voiced by Ed Asner) whose only wish is to deliver a toy to every child on Christmas. The voices of Betty White and Tim Curry are also featured.
    TUESDAY, DEC. 1
    * Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer - 8 PM
Narrated by Burl Ives, who is also heard as the voice of Sam the Snowman, this favorite is a musical story based on the popular song of the same name by Johnny Marks. It recounts the tale of a shy reindeer whose Christmas spirit is dampened because his shiny nose has made him the laughingstock of all of Christmasville.

    1. Yay - Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer! Thanks so much for sharing this info on CBS' Christmas programming. I checked out the WHIO7 web-site. It's good to see this Christmas programming, but I sure hope they plan to add more in December.

By the way, I added all of these holiday specials to my Christmas TV Schedule!

      Thank you! :)

    2. I just checked the Freeform Channel website. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman" are being shown on that channel again this year. They started that last year. Both shows start on December 5th and are playing a few times all the way up to Christmas Day. This is in addition to the CBS showings.

    3. Jim, Thank you so much! I caught word of this over the weekend and I posted the family friendly movies and shows in my Christmas Schedule.

One of the movies they are playing is actually Rated R, (sad, right?) so we definitely have to be careful when it comes to watching any Christmas on Freeform. Thanks so much for commenting and making certain I heard about this.

      Happy Christmas Movie/Cartoon Watching! :)

    3. I liked the preview of One Royal Holiday. So, I am looking forward to watching that one. I thought the Crafty Christmas one was BORING. Not enough of anything and that store didn't seem 'crafty' at all. I didn't watch it all of it. I am also looking forward to Candy Cane Christmas, Holly & Ivy (although, I don't think I can handle a sad ending) and the I like the storyline for A Christmas Aunt and her previous movies have been pretty good! Not caring the the 12 Dates of Christmas one.

She writes stories and falls in love at the ice hotel after telling a single man’s daughter one of her stories she made up. This was also set up by one of her friends. They had no idea he brought a date. But he likes the new woman too. And so does his daughter and they spend more time with her as the other woman becomes ill.

  6. One Royal Holiday

Romantic moments by a ladder! Dancing! They are going to Dance to The Christmas Waltz. WHAT IS THIS SONG? Dance Lessons Await! (FYI, I do this with younger son in our kitchen, and it is a delight of my life). Oh, man, dad just messed up that romantic dance.

Dad is Fairy Godfather here and found dresses for Anna to wear that were her mom’s. But first, Gingerbread House Building! James is good at it and he made a castle. And Gabriella just made them a Galwickian Yule Cake (which is an eclair). Christmas Eve is in 3 days, and now there’s black ice on the roads and it’s just too dangerous to go to the airport.

Sassy Friend tells her that she can work it out with Christopher, so Anna can work it out with James, but Anna is being realistic because he’s a prince and she’s a nurse.

James has figured out that Anna helped out his dad at the hospital when he was ill. Oh my goodness all the coincidences! Anna’s dress has pockets, y’all. James’ Christmas speech is on the internet, and his military uniform clearly doesn’t fit.

And HUZZAH James shows up at the ball and his tuxedo suit does fit. And more about James’ dad, yada yada yada. And they kiss and head into the ballroom where they get to finish their Christmas Waltz. All Laura Osnes’ Cinderella dance experience is clearly paying off here. But we’re not done yet – everyone is in their pajamas at the fireplace for the final scene – and again Cinderella vibes, because James brought her Christmas Royal Bedroom Slippers. But he didn’t bring enough for everyone! The End

  7. One Royal Holiday

The room where the Ball is going to be held had a roof malfunction, and now where are they going to have it? James suggests the Inn, so of course they’re going to do it – and before we can say Hot Chocolate – they are going to decorate the Inn’s family tree! Singing! Tree Trimming! Lights!

  10. My two "must watch" picks from the weekend were "Cranberry Christmas" (because we don't get many movies about an already married couple and the story sounded good) and "On the 12th Date of Christmas" (because Tyler Hynes is my favorite Hallmark leading man and I'm pretty much guaranteed to enjoy whatever Hallmark movie he's in).

I've only had a chance to watch those two so far but just wanted to say they're both family friendly and I loved them both for the same reasons they were my "must watch" picks!

Tyler Hynes was fantastic in his role, as always, and I thought he was well matched with Mallory Jansen. I loved watching their characters fall in love, enjoyed their interactions with their respective families, and thought the scavenger hunt theme was fun.

"Cranberry Christmas" is wonderful, and I highly recommend it if you're someone who enjoys the deeper, richer stories on HMM. Don't get me wrong--I enjoy the fluffy romantic fantasies too, but it was refreshing to see the more realistic picture that marriage takes work and it's worth the effort. Nikki DeLoach and Benjamin Ayres did a beautiful job portraying a couple working through a rough patch and growing closer together through it. The ending made me tear up.

  12. there are a couple of movies that have working titles and some with TBD cast, including the November 23rd premiere of Heart of the Holidays for Hallmark Channel. Additionally, we’ve yet to hear more about the movie, Too Close for Christmas, that Chad Michael Murray and Jessica Lowndes filmed over the summer! Fingers-crossed it will be added to the lineup.

Additionally, I would love for us to finally be able to see A New Year’s Resolution, starring Aimee Teegarden and Michael Rady; it was filmed and announced last year, but never aired.

The annual When Calls the Heart Christmas movie will not air this year, despite being announced earlier in the year, but Hallmark will still bring us some extra-cheer on Christmas Day.

  13. I watched a few this weekend:

Crafty Christmas Romance--this was so boring. I was thinking of the movie Gift of Miracles with Rachel Boston, and how the gifts tied together, but this movie, I fast forwarded to the end to see what happened, it was dull throughout.

Cranberry Christmas--I liked it, but...….The Covid stuff is making these movies hard to watch. I did not believe those 2 loved each other at all. I am sure it is from covid, but I would think if you are on set with someone for 3 weeks you could hug, or come close to one another. I loved the festival stuff, the house was beautiful, the farm, but even at the end, they almost kissed and it was weird, cause I didn't feel love with them at all.

Candy Cane Christmas--I am going to be honest here, I didn't feel the 2 leads together, and in fact, I kept feeling like the main male character was more interested in his male employee at the vet clinic than in Beverley Mitchell character. I am sure they didn't mean it that way, but it felt awkward, weird, and I am not sure if they meant it to be. I liked the whole premise of there not being a perfect Christmas, but the main character male just smiled a lot and made smiley faces, and this entire movie was just weird, all the way down to the blatantly obvious attempts at diversity. The only paet I will say I liked a lot, was the retirement home and Beverley Mitchells character with them at the home.

I watched last weeks Christmas Tree Lane--I was surprised that I liked Alicia and Andrew in the movie together, but once again I did not feel that they were in love or even cared about each other beyond friends. I cant feel love in these movies, I don't know. I believe he wanted to help her, and I believe they will be friends, but that is all I saw.

I am not sure if the Christmas on Ice was filmed before Covid, but there was a lot of feeling there, maybe cause there was a child, but I felt they cared for each other and I felt love. One iffy part for kids, but the roommates had a guy sleep over, well he was there in the AM. Other than that, it was very friendly and great, and the best one I have seen so far. although that movie had some really crazy lines, and the roommate who had just all of a sudden decided to make a book of kids pics on santa's lap got it published in hard cover with her pic and blurb on the back in like a week. she got it published from an idea in a weeks time.

    1. Hey Sabrina - I totally agree with you on Crafty Christmas Romance. I liked the premise, but the story itself just plodded along. Also, I felt that the acting, especially from the male lead, left a lot to be desired. Not a keeper!

  15. Overall enjoyed Jingle Bell Bride - it was a reasonably good start to Hallmark's Christmas schedule.

I thought Juie Gonzales and Ronnie Rowe was a good casting, great chemistry between them.

Don't know what the point of the hero's son was - he didn't have much on screen time and seemed superfluous.

Hallmark really are going to have to pay some attention to the logistics though - the town had a population of 112 (yes one hundred and twelve) but the aerial shots of it suggested it was considerably larger.

I can accept that the many people in the town were there for the Festival but apparently the Elementary School put on a pageant every Christmas - well with a poulation os a 112 there couldn't have been more than a handful of pupils!

It was a nice too that for once the characters didn't end up leaving the big city to seetle on the small town.

    2. Hi. I'm not 100 percent certain, but I have a foggy recollection that some of Debbie Johnson's books are not always squeaky clean; I think some of them have sex and expletives. So, as a reader, if that's important to you, just be careful and read all the reviews. However, I would imagine (and hope!) that any Hallmark movies made from the books would be squeaky-cleaned up.

    3. Jane, Thank you so much for sharing that important warning. I truly wish they could give us a rating on books, like they do with movies. That would be most helpful.

One would expect a book adapted into a Hallmark movie would be wholesome; unfortunately, that's not always the case.

  17. Is Holly and Ivy based on a true story?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, it is. Based on the details in this interview with 12 year old actress Sadie Coleman, who plays the role of Holly, the story is "loosely based on the true story of a Las Vegas mother and her three daughters."

      Delete
  18. Holly & Ivy was pretty good, but there was something missing. It was VERY rushed at the end and some things were just too over the top w/ what she could do. It was family friendly, but isn't something I would watch again.

    2. I quite enjoyed this - pleasant enough but it seemed as if the romance was secondary to the story although I did like the lead actors.

I agree with the others about the ending - most unsatisfactory but unfortunately that's a common problem with Hallmark for me.
