She signs up for a romance writing retreat at a quaint Vermont Inn shortly before Christmas, where a top romance novelist is scheduled to attend and read the work of one lucky writer. Shortly after arriving, she crosses paths with Zeke (David Alpay), whom she initially finds to be intrusive and, naturally, ends up being her assignment partner. Worse yet, her ex-boyfriend, Garth, is also at the retreat. Despite these bumps in the road, Kim steps outside her comfort zone and plunges into the writing exercises and ends up surprising herself. Equally unexpected is the attraction that seems to be building between her and Zeke that promises to take her down a road she never imagined traveling. Based on the book by Richard Paul Evans.”

Finding Santa

The main event is the parade on Christmas Day when the jolly man in red greets the crowd. For the last 30 years, Henry, owner of a famous Santa School, played St. Nick. When Henry falls ill, and everyone else he has trained is already booked, Jessica’s in a predicament. The only possible replacement is Henry’s son, Ben, an Uber driver who never wanted to follow in his father big black leather boots. Desperate, Jessica sets off 200 miles north to find Ben and lures him to town by hiring him to drive her back. The trek is daunting; the real Kris Kringle makes it around the world easier than Ben and Jessica on their return. Switched for Christmas (Formerly Christmas Sister Swap)

Estranged twin sisters get together for an obligatory pre-Christmas lunch, a year after their mother died. Both women are unhappy and frustrated with their own lives. Though not close, each is envious of the other’s life. What’s a twin to do but take advantage of this? And who would be the wiser? They do what any identical twins in need of new outlooks would do — they swap lives until Christmas Day. And by doing so, each woman discovers the true meaning of her life and gains a deeper perspective and appreciation for what she already had.”

Christmas in Evergreen (Formerly Snow Globe Wishes)

Premieres: Dec. 2, 8 p.m. ET/PT

It’s the place you’re homesick for when December arrives and you reflect on all what’s important. There’s a history to this idyllic small town, a bond between its families that crosses generations, and a story that truly comes alive each Christmas season. At the local café, there is also a belief that if you make a wish on their snow globe, your wish will be granted. However, it must be your heart’s true desire for the wish to come true.”

This Christmas, Sophie will meet an unforgettable family, and her own life will be forever changed.”

The Christmas Shop (*NEW)

Premieres: Dec. 9, 8 p.m. ET/PT

Stars: TBA

Official logline: “Anna works for a New York City real estate development company that is trying to buy an old building in a prime location, hoping to flip the property for a profit. Unfortunately, there is one tenant who is holding out—the owner of an old-fashioned Christmas shop. Anna has been hoping for a way to step up in her job, and finally she’s been given the golden opportunity to take point on this assignment. Anna approaches the Christmas Shop’s current (and handsome!) owner Michael, who is not only protective of his family’s legacy but really appreciates what the holiday means to everyone. His customers and employees have been loyal to the shop for generations. He’s not about to roll over for Anna and her company. But with sinking profits, Michael finally gives in a little bit to Anna’s attempts to change his mind—that Anna spend one week working in the store and then, after that, if she doesn’t realize why this shop is so important to him, his family, and the community, they can talk. Without much of an option, she begrudgingly agrees. Under their arrangement, Anna gains a greater appreciation for the store, its customers, and Christmas itself, realizing what really matters in life with respect to her job. Likewise, Michael is resistant to change, and the store has failed to modernize over the years. But through Anna’s innovative ideas and the love that grows between them, Michael is able to move past that. When the company finds out about what’s going on and Anna’s career is on the line, she is forced to make a choice, one that will change her forever and make this one of the best Christmases she has ever had.”

Instead she find romance with her director and a renewed passion for her craft and the city. But when the historic theater loses its lease and the show is set to fold, she and her cast mates need a Christmas miracle.”

Christmas Shuttle

Premieres: Dec. 16, 8 p.m. ET/PT

Stars: TBA

Official logline:“It’s not easy being Henry, the only child of divorced parents. Every Christmas, he’s flown cross-country to be with his dad. Because he’s 8, a flight attendant looks after him from gate-to-gate. Henry instantly takes to the engaging Megan, who wears a Santa hat while helping him write a letter to the jolly guy. Megan promises to mail it to the North Pole, but slips the note to Henry’s dad. Henry has already decided Megan and his dad would be a great couple. And with all of the sophistication of a little boy, he tries setting them up. It turns out that Megan has no plans for Christmas dinner. Naturally, Henry invites her over, giving the adults a chance to see that they are perfect for each other.”

Father Christmas

Premieres: Dec. 17, 8 p.m. ET/PT

Divorced and the father of three, this will be Eric’s first Christmas alone with the kids. His ex-wife, Marie, encourages Eric to postpone a job search and instead make Christmas a true family holiday. Unfortunately, he’s better with computers than children. With baby Max strapped into a backpack, Eric is determined to build a sled with son Liam, no small feat for the math-challenged boy. Eric also gets roped into volunteering at daughter Chelsea’s junior cotillion class. At least her teacher, Kate Moore, is lovely. Kate teaches Eric some dance moves, and Eric realizes he’s avoided relationships by burying himself in work. Though enthralled with all old-fashioned romance, Kate finds a lot to like in this digital-age dad while Eric learns that family time does not need to be restricted to Christmas.”

Having grown up bouncing around the globe with her vagabond parents, her adult life mirrors much of what she learned growing up—life’s easier when you’re not tied down. Although her free spirit makes her the perfect travel writer, a surprising breakup with her boyfriend takes her personal life back to square one. Hoping to spend the holiday relaxing and recovering, Emory takes the picturesque Christmas vacation planned for the two of them, alone. Through a mix up on the rental site — or maybe a little Christmas magic — Emory is forced to share the cabin with Scott, a handsome widower, his young daughter and mother-in-law. What begins as an annoying inconvenience blooms into a romance she never knew was possible, and a Christmas they will cherish forever."

May the true spirit of the season find you
and fill your heart with joy!!!

Enjoy all the Christmas movie news and be sure to watch Lacey Chabert - Wednesday (September 13th) on Home & Family as she dishes out details on all the new "Countdown to Christmas" Hallmark Channel Christmas movies!!!

Blessings!!! Net

  1. Awesome! 21 movies equals 42 hours of Christmas movie watching on this one channel alone. I'm already trying to figure out if I have enough room on my DVR. I'll find it somehow before October 28.

    1. Yes, it's quite a challenge to decide what to record and keep - and what to erase to make room for others. Ugh!!! I've totally been there!!!

  2. You are so right, Net. I wait for this all year. In fact, as soon as December 26 comes I'm already thinking of how long the wait is until next year. Guess I'll have to stock up on lots of Christmas DVDS come January!

    1. That's an excellent thing to do! I could never wait until the Christmas season to watch all of my favorites! It's such a busy time then, anyway. Enjoy the list! :)

    2. Oh, and be sure to check out some of the latest Christmas DVD releases - HERE!

      Blessings, Net :)

  3. So happy Maggie Lawson is doing another Hallmark movie. There looks to be some good ones this year. Im missing some of my favorite actors this season but I hope they'll pop up again soon.

    1. Yes, I love seeing Maggie Lawson return, too! Since everyone fell in love with her with Paul Greene in "My Favorite Wedding," I'm sure many will be thrilled to see Maggie paired up with Brennan Elliott, another true Hallmark favorite!!! :)

  4. New Year's Eve Gala & Kiss for New Year are the same movie?

  5. I see that they changed it from New Mexico to Utah for Alexa and Carlos' movie! LOL Cool that Chelsie Hightower is part of it (she used to be part of DWTS).

    1. Yeah, their movie looks fun! Thanks for commenting, Misty! I hope you enjoy this one and many, many others! :)

    2. I’m disappointed the location of “Enchanted Christmas” changed from New Mexico, especially since not a lot of Hallmark movies take place there (even during Christmastime). I’m also disappointed that “The Christmas Castle” was removed from Hallmark Channel’s Christmas line-up, especially since a Hallmark Christmas movie has never taken place in Scotland. Fortunately, Hallmark didn’t cut too many movies from the schedule.

  6. Oh, how exciting!!! Net, I'll be out in the barn putting a new coat of wax on the IAWM's sleigh prepping it for our adventure this year, once again, through Christmas Land.

    1. Sounds great, Jim! It's gotta look good as it's flying through the sky!!! All shiny and red... like a new radio flyer wagon!!!

Can't wait 'til we all load in and take off!!!

    2. Ha-hahahahahahahah....make room for all of us, Jim, we're ready to go!! Woopie!!!

  7. Oh, and I see Jodie Sweetin is in a movie too! Cool!

    1. Yes! I can't help but wonder if big sis (DJ, Candace Cameron Bure) had anything to do with it. Or, Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin)?

  8. With the Christmas movie news I've been waiting for AND the Fall Harvest movies too, my day = made! Thanks, Net! I've written them all down in my Hallmark and Christmas movies lists and I'm ready to go! (I'm a serial lister - what can I say?) :) Only 44 more days on the countdown! Those jingle bells and twinkle lights are getting ever closer in the distance!

    1. I'm a proud list maker, too, Amy! And, usually I'm always delighted to achieve things on the list and check them off, but in this regard - I hope the checking off goes a bit slower so we can all relax and enjoy each one, as they come!

I see those twinkle lights, too, in the distance! Every day they get a little brighter!!!

Thank you, Amy, for always adding to the Christmas Movie JOY in such a fun way!!!

      Blessings!!! Net :)

  9. Thanks for this post, Net! Do we know yet what movie Wes Brown, Jana Kramer and Faith Ford are starring in? There are going to be a lot of great Christmas movies to watch this season :)

    1. You're welcome, Erin! From what I've heard the Christmas movie with Jana Kramer, Wes Brown, and Faith Ford has the working title "Love Returns Home" and rumor is- (*whispering...*) it's a Lifetime Christmas movie, but please know, I have not heard this officially announced, yet. So... we shall see!

The movie is based on a town who has to rebuild following a storm. Ironically, they had to halt filming for a period of time, due to fears that Hurricane Harvey might head their way. It did not, but Wes Brown shared on instagram that seeing the devastation elsewhere impacted them deeply as they carried on with the filming process.

Wherever it ends up - this will surely be one to watch! Thank you for your question, Erin!

      Blessings, Net :)

    2. Sounds like a good movie..and what a great cast! While Hallmark is my favorite go-to for Christmas and feel good movies I have to say that Lifetime has had some good Holiday movies recently. I loved The Flight Before Christmas and Gift Wrapped Christmas. Love Returns Home could be a new Lifetime favorite to add to the list. Thanks for your wonderful blog-I don't know how I kept track of movies before I found it :)...Have a great weekend, Net!

  10. Some great looking movies here Net! It's almost here! So exciting! And just as I had predicted...Brooke D'Orsay looks good on the arm of Marc Blucas! Lol!

    1. You were so right, Joyce! I thought of you when I posted it at the top! They truly make such a good looking pair! So glad you think so, too!!! :)

  11. Hard to believe it's almost that time again. I really look forward to seeing all these Hallmark movies. Thanks Net for always keepingus updated.

    1. Oh, you're welcome, Faith522! It is always a blessing to me- to share the excitement and joy of Christmas!!! :)

      Blessings to you!!! Net

  12. Oh, I can't wait til the Hallmark Christmas shows, Net! I haven't seen "The Christmas Train" yet. Is that a new one? My grandfather worked on the railroad, and trains have always held a special place in my heart. Thanks for this post, Net. It sounds like it's going to be a splendid movie watching holiday. : )

    1. Love your story, Sheri, about your Grandfather. How special. Yes, "The Christmas Train" is a new movie this year. It will premiere Thanksgiving Weekend and it is actually the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie this year, so hopefully it's extra good, deep, and moving!

Thank you, again, for sharing!!! Blessings!!! Net

  13. The dates on the Hallmark Channel's release yesterday are a touch different than the EW story. Unclear which is accurate.

    see: http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/christmas/new-movies-countdown-to-christmas-2017

    1. I contacted Hallmark to check into that and they informed me that the schedule in the EW release is correct. Some of the titles have been changed, though, from that initial report and I updated them above. Hallmark has also updated their print out!

  14. I got my power back and my Dorectv back from the storm, and my DVR was fine and I only have 47% left to record on, so I am going thru and seeing what I can delete to make room for fall harvest and Christmas movies. There are going to be so many good ones coming.

    1. Oh, so glad to hear your power has returned after Hurricane Irma went through. I know many areas are not as fortunate, sadly. Our prayers and support are still very much needed there.

Thank you for sharing, Sabrina! Blessings to you, Net

  15. Super excited over all of these!

    1. You and me both - plus millions of viewers who watched last year!!! I love that so many people love Hallmark's Christmas movies!!!
