My Take on "When Hope Calls":
I have enjoyed the new season of "When Hope Calls" immensely, seeing beloved characters from Season 1 return and gradually meeting new ones. It's been a joy to watch Nora (Cindy Busby) connect on a personal level with each of the orphan children, along with Eleanor's (Elizabeth Saunders) loving guidance.
Sam (Jon McLaren) and Maggie (Hanneke Talbot) are so sweet to watch as they are still newly navigating their relationship, while Sam explores various options for his potential prospecting fortune.
It's still early, but there's a clear attraction between Nora and Mountie Michael Fletcher (Christopher Russell), also known as Fearless Fletcher, who bravely serves and protects while performing heroic acts. After visiting Nurse Maggie for another injury, she asks of him, "Do you going looking for trouble, or does trouble just find you?"
Hannah Lawrence (Sarah Fisher) has also stirred things up in Brookfield with her arrival. She's come to sell her uncle's ranch, creating quite a buzz among the other ranchers, particularly Tess Stewart. It's clear that Hannah and Wyatt (the ranch foreman played by Nick Bateman), are two contrasting personalities that may eventually be drawn to each other.
Then, there's Mountie Jim (Trevor Donovan), known for his strict adherence to the rules. Yet, after some gentle encouragement from his friend, Mountie Michael, he concedes to let Nora take in a troubled orphan girl who seems to crave a little love and affection.
I can hardly wait to see what unfolds in the upcoming episodes listed above! If you'd like to share your thoughts on this series, please do so in the comments below.

Constable Jimmy Reynolds & Constable Michael Fletcher to capture to arrest cattle rustlers in When Hope Calls: Season 2 - Episode 6
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch this Sunday's episode. I was too busy in London with Lillian and Grace opening up an orphanage in the UK.
ReplyDeleteOn another subject...my favorite one of course...I found a 24/7/365 Christmas music channel called Evergreen...myevergreenradio dot com . Replace the 'dot' with a period. Didn't want it to go to spam. The channel plays Christmas music around the clock ALL year and it's commercial FREE also! Also, it's a Christmas based network of channels, so they heavily play Christmas music about Jesus and the Savior's birth also while also mixing in the classic Christmas songs. You can also download apps for your Iphones and Android devices. It's listed as Encouragement Media in the App stores. Enjoy!
Hey Jim, it's nice to know that I am not the only guy who loves listening to Christmas music all year long! I get "Music Choice" with my cable subscription, and one of the choices (via a "third-party app") is "Christmas Classics". (There are others, but it's my favorite since it plays both secular and religious classic oldies.) So with that, and my abundance of Christmas cd's, I am good to go the whole year!
DeleteHi Mark, Thanks so much for reminding me about Music Choice. I have that on my cable also. On the cable itself they don't have the "Classic Christmas" Channel (Just Sounds of the Season which only has Christmas at Christmas time). However, with your info I downloaded the Music Choice App on my phone and now have the "Classic Christmas" Channel....Yippee!! I also have it on my computer now. I love it! Just had to log in with my Cable credentials. Thank you so much!! I have a whole slew of YouTube Christmas songs also. I listen all the time...all year like you. Thanks again. Just as I was about to submit this reply one of my favorite Christmas songs just came on Music Choice..."Christmas Time is Here"...Charlie Brown Christmas. How wonderful!
DeleteHi guys! Life has been crazy and I've not had much opportunity to check in here at Net's wonderful site, but tonight I just decided to drop in and see what's new. Thank you both for the heads up on Christmas music options I didn't know about. Love that Encouragement Media app, Jim! And Mark, I had NO idea I had other cable Christmas music options with Music Choice -- I thought it was just Sounds of the Season. So, now I've just got to figure out how to put my cable credentials in and get "Classic Christmas" to play. On FrndlyTv, I'm still watching the Crackling Fireplace Yule Log (from Dove); that and the CBN Radio Christmas channel and Selah channels tend to be soothing, which I seem to need more often than not! I've still got about 3-4 Christmas movies from this last season to watch but I find myself not being in the mood for new stuff and just rewatching some of the older and comfortable Hallmark Christmas movies instead.
Delete(And by the way, Jim, I know you tend to keep your Christmas trees up for a long time.... I had two very cozy and "live" Christmas trees still up and would light them every night, but while I was at the beach last week my friend came in and took them down for me -- I suppose Easter is a good time to take them down! π€£ But now it feels kind of sad in here, so I threw a string of pastel-colored lights in a basket on the mantel -- it's not quite the same but I suppose it will do until next November.)
~~Jane
Hi Jane...so good to hear from you! I am so sorry to hear about your young family member that passed away but loved your thoughts on it in a previous post.
DeleteIt's time to find a new friend Jane! lol...how dare she take down your Christmas trees behind your back? ha-ha. People have gotten hurt for much less.
Jim, "people have gotten hurt for much less"... you've got me laughing (and about to call my friend and share the laugh with her) because, believe it or not, she DID clear the Christmas tree removal with me, and here's why: Many years ago she thought she was being nice and she snuck in and took my dehydrated/petrified tree down in April.... and I yelled at her! I know, I know, I'm a horrible friend!! So now, any time she wants to do something nice for me, she calls to clear it first so I don't yell at her! π€£ I'm so glad she has a sense of humor. And I'm also kinda glad she truly enjoys removing and chopping up dead Christmas trees, so I don't have to do it! She's the same friend that has gone out with me in the pouring rain to buy a Christmas tree because I just HAD to have one up in time for visitors the next day. I don't know how she puts up with me! π€£π ~~Jane
DeleteAwwww Jane! Now, I LOVE your friend! You are blessed to have someone like her in your life and I'm sure she is so blessed to have you in her life also. I'm so glad that she cleared it with you first because that could have gotten ugly...ha-ha. It sounds like she had to deal with your wrath previously when she didn't get clearance. lol
DeleteMy kids look forward to this show every Sunday. There’s not too many shows that we let them watch live. Plus, my husband and I enjoy it too. Christie
ReplyDeleteChristie, That's so nice! I know just what you mean, and this is one of those rare shows that all ages can enjoy together!!! :)
DeleteIt sounds like folks are really enjoying this; I need to figure out how to first watch Season 1. I'm guessing Season 1 is only available through Hallmark+, and Season 2 is through Pure Flix. Unfortunately, I don't have a membership with either of those. I have a bunch of Amazon prime free promo credits but it might just be easier to follow Net's link and buy the dvd. (I'm hopeful this series won't bring all the heated drama comments that turned me off from ever watching WCTH!) ~~Jane
ReplyDeleteYou can access Hallmark+ through the Hoopla app for free! I learned about that here, and it has been so wonderful! You log in with your library card and can have full access to Hallmark+ for free. I'd give it a try so you can watch season 1, it's truly lovely!!! You won't be disappointed!
DeleteThank you for reminding me of Hoopla! I'll have to give it a try. ~~Jane
DeleteOk everyone...get the tissues ready for this episode! WHC just keeps getting better! Cindy Busby has been a wonderful surprise in this series! They're all good but Cindy stands out!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, I love hearing how much you love When Hope Calls every week! I agree... this episode was truly wonderful! :)
DeleteDo we know if Gabriel and Lillian will appear again in the show in a future season? I notice they keep emphasizing that Nora and the New mountie are here temporarily.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I noticed that on Pureflix they call it "Brookfield, a When Hope Calls Story". I originally thought they were calling it season 2 of When Hope Calls. Maybe because they couldn't load the first season on pureflix since it still belongs to hallmark?
It's been so nice seeing so many characters from the first season come back. Such a sweet showπ©·
Yes, I noticed the mention of "Brookfield, a When Hope Calls Story," as well, on Pure Flix. I also thought that was very interesting.
DeleteYou are right; GAF originally called it "When Hope Calls" season 2, and the Great American Family website still calls it "When Hope Calls."
So... I guess we'll have to keep a look out for a possible title change. I just checked the intro to episode 4 on Pure Flix, and it still says "When Hope Calls" there, and my DirecTV Guide for Sunday night still says "When Hope Calls," as well.
As for Gabriel and Lillian, I know they are both busy working on other TV series, but I really hope we can see them both come back someday, even if just for a short appearance.
It's nice to hear how much you like the show. :)
I hope Gabriel & Lillian will come back to Brookfield on WHC in the future??
