Happy Weekend, Friends! Are you ready to *take a shot* at the new movie premieres?

The Hallmark Channel will premiere its third Summer Nights movie, A Costa Rican Wedding, on Saturday night. This looks like a fun tropical adventure starring two well-known Hallmark actors; however, before watching, please be sure to read Maria's review below.

Scott tries to make the impossible happen by not only making the team, but getting back the woman he loves.

Premieres Saturday, August 17, 2024

Movie Review:

πŸ€ Nothing is Impossible – Great American Pure Flix scores with another inspirational film! This movie delves into reflection, regret, and redemption. If you’ve ever seen a Christian film, like ‘God’s Not Dead,’ then you likely recognize the star of “Nothing is Impossible,” David A.R. White.

In “Nothing is Impossible,” David plays Scott Beck, who is fairly low on life and his future until he realizes he might have a second chance at two of his biggest dreams. Rediscovering his faith in God also plays a pivotal role in Scott overcoming past failures.

If you’ve ever watched the Soap Opera, “Days of Our Lives,” then you may recognize David’s co-star, Nadia Bjorlin (who has played Chloe Lane on and off since 1999).

“Nothing is Impossible” is a sports-themed, faith-based movie that will inspire and challenge its viewers to follow the path God has set before them. You’ll find yourself cheering Scott Beck on as he’s determined to pursue his life’s goals.

My family and I enjoyed this uplifting film and its inspiring message. ~Net

  2. Nothing is Impossible

The Bible verse "For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment" appears in Luke 1:37-45. The verse continues with Mary saying, "Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me according".

  4. Thanks for the info on A Costa Rican Wedding; I was already planning to watch without the kids because of the feeling I got from the press pics. The actors are both wearing typical beachwear, but it just felt a little too steamy for my kids, you know. We’ll watch the new Great American Family movie instead. Christie

    1. Christie, I definitely understand your hesitancy based on the press pics I saw, too, for "A Costa Rican Wedding." For me, it also felt less kid-friendly based on the beach attire.

And maybe I'm reading too much into it but I thought they were kind of hinting at it. Anyway, since they're both busy filming "When Calls the Heart" right now it may be a little longer wait for another.

  9. Nothing is Impossible looks great, I will definitely be recording and watching. As for a Costa Rican wedding, I will watch based on the previews, as it looks interesting (something about the ring maybe being lost). I can overlook the gay couple being mentioned, as long as it’s not shown, that’s where I draw the line. I was recently watching “From Italy with Amore” with Marcus Rosner and Rebecca Dalton and it was cute, but I had to turn it off due to them having the brother be gay and showing the husband. There was no point for it and it was a shame because it ruined the movie. So I’ll give Costa Rican Wedding a try as I do enjoy Rhiannon, as for Christopher Iv seen him everywhere except milk cartons πŸ˜‚ I love the scriptures you selected for this week Net! We have that same scripture as a canvas wall art in our sons’ room but it is from the book of Joshua.

    1. Paula, I would love to hear your thoughts on "A Costa Rican Wedding" after you get a chance to watch.

By the way, I also watched “From Italy with Amore” and ended up turning it off when the brother and his husband were introduced into the storyline. It came out of nowhere. I agree, it was cute up 'til that point. So unfortunate.

On another note, I'm so glad to hear the scriptures I shared this week blessed you! That is so special that one of them is in your son's bedroom. I just love artwork that is incorporated with scripture; we have many around our home.

      Have a Blessed Weekend! :)

    2. I thoroughly enjoyed From Italy with Amore. Rebecca Dalton 's character didn't like Marcus Rosners to start and then, she saw her dream man in his restaurant and kept going to find him. This snowballed into love. They had great chemistry. While the same set relationship was not needed, the two actors played it well, and for the most part did not detract from the story line. I'm glad I watched.

  10. Nothing is Impossible

Matthew 19:26 in the Bible says, "But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible'". Some say this verse is one of the most hopeful and uplifting in the Bible.

Here are some interpretations of this verse:

    Salvation
It's not about what you do to earn God's salvation and grace, but what God has done for you.

    Poverty
Only the poor in spirit can enter the kingdom, and this may involve sacrificing possessions.

    Wealth
If you were wealthy, it was assumed that God had blessed you, so if you couldn't make it into heaven, that would be interesting

  15. Nothing is Impossible is a beautiful movie!

I especially liked the scene when Scott sat in on the meeting with the kids at school and they shared a difficulty in their life and their dreams. That was the push Scott needed to go after his.

  16. So, I went ahead and watched A Costa Rican Wedding.

I’ll give a fuller review later, but I just wanted to give a little detail to the mention of the same sex couple in the movie.

Near the end of the movie Ryan (Christopher Russell) and Emily (Rhiannon Fish) visit Ryan’s friend, Camille. Emily is jealous of her until Ryan says Camille has a girlfriend and if he had a relationship like theirs he’d be a lucky man.

Otherwise, the movie is rather fun but exhausting, too, in the search for Emily’s missing backpack.

Looking forward to hearing everyone’s review! Have a blessed Sunday!!!

    2. Costa Rican Wedding-I struggled with this one, just wasn't my taste. I've been watching some older Hallmark (hall of fame type) dramas and other solid Christian films lately so I think I just wasn't in the mood for something without depth. I'm sure others will enjoy. I didn't even get to the part about the couple, I just got bored with it and as you said Net it was exhausting looking for the backpack! _LR

    3. Additional thoughts on A Costa Rican Wedding…

For me, the movie had cute moments and extremely annoying moments, too. I found it to be absolutely ridiculous that anyone would let a person like Emily, who is extremely accident prone and irresponsible with other’s belongings, to be THE person the bride chooses to bring her very precious wedding rings to their destination wedding.

Anyway, the rings get lost, of course, and the search for them was rather long and exhausting, but some of it also made me chuckle and laugh-out-loud.

As I mentioned in my previous review, there is a mention of a same-sex couple. Due to this, I won’t be watching this again. I feel they are trying to slip in little things like this so we become desensitized.

Small SPOILER: In the end, the officiate could not make it on the wedding day due to a mix-up on days, so Emily fixed it by going online and getting herself ordained. Personally, I prefer a preacher marrying a couple as I believe marriage is a holy, sacred covenant before God.

Overall, this movie was a one-time watch for me. Net

    Pastor Lawrence

Proverbs 3:6 says, "In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths". Some say this verse means that people should acknowledge God for guidance in life, and that he will guide them in the right direction and remove obstacles. Others say that it's a general promise from God that if people live morally and rightly, he will make their paths straight

  20. Oh 'Nothing is Impossible' was simply amazing! We loved every minute of it. Knoxville is one of our favorite places and it was nice seeing that lovely city on my tv. But, we also enjoyed the message, the acting, the glory of God's grace on full display. My poor hubby was a mess by the end. I don't understand why the over-all rating on IMDB is so bad. Because that sweet little gem needs to be seen. I am afraid people will see that low rating and dismiss it. Which would be a shame.

  22. Hello my friends,
Can you please pray for my and my family. My grandma(Mimi) is now dying and is hours away from death. She’s in pain, and is almost 95. I’m so thankful for her. I’m comforted that she’s a true believer and she’ll be with her Savior, husband, and twin stillborn babies. She’s always been a picture of Christ’s love. But, I am hurting as well. I love my Mimi, and am 10 hours away and can’t be with her. Please pray for strength for us, for us to lean on the Lord through this process. And for peace in knowing she’s going to a better place. I’m really going to miss her, she’s been a huge blessing in my life(spiritual too). Thank you so much!

    3. Thank you. I really appreciate your prayers right now. They mean so much to me. It’s hard for me to imagine my Mimi not being here. She’s so dear to me. She makes me want to serve Christ more.

I’m so grateful God sent us to Texas a few weeks ago to visit her. You know how in movies and books, they’ll have someone who’s dying but will hold on longer for a loved one. That’s kinda what happened with my Mimi. Since her body was shutting down she’s been sleeping most of the days. But that week we were there she had a boost of energy the Lord gave her. She had strength to lift her great grandbaby(my nephew) and her mind was all there and she was able to engage with all of us. The Lord is so good to His children. Words can not express how grateful I was to spend that last week with her.

  27. Loved “Nothing Is Impossible”! So nice to see a movie quoting scripture and mentioning God in the times we live in. One of my favorite scenes was when the friend was talking to the pastor about how he can help Scott and the pastor told him “you can’t force him” Our job is not to force/convince someone to follow Christ, but to believe, pray, love them, be that light and example to them, and God will do the rest. It’s so hard to do that when it’s a friend or family member we are close to but God gives us all free will. I like that it touched on these real issues believers face.
