( click here to enlarge image )

Happy first weekend of August, friends!🌻

If you haven't heard the news, Christmas in July isn't quite over for Great American Family and Great American Faith & Living, who are extending the Christmas movie fun for one more weekend!

But if you’re ready for a little change of scenery, there are also some fun non-holiday rom-coms premiering this weekend on both Great American Family and the Hallmark Channel. And I have to say, both movies sound like the perfect little summer escape!

On the Hallmark Channel, Toast to Italy takes us all the way to the lovely setting of Italy, where Jenny travels to find something special for her sister’s wedding and crosses paths with Arrigo.

Over on Great American Family, A Prince in Paradise: A Royal Wedding brings us back to a familiar royal romance with the third movie in this delightful trilogy. Prince Alexander is ready to marry Olivia, but an old law threatens to stand in the way of their happily-ever-after.

And then Sunday night brings us another thrilling mystery on INSP with Blue Ridge: The Series! This week’s all-new episode takes us into the woods when a kidnapping puts our favorite characters right in the middle of another dangerous case.

So, whether you’re still soaking up the Christmas movies, ready for a trip to Italy, in the mood for a little Royal romance, or looking for some suspense, there’s plenty to watch this weekend!

I hope you all have a great weekend, whether you're watching one of the new premieres or a Christmas classic!

As always, I'd love to hear which movies you'll be watching and which one you're most excited to see. And if you'd like to share a movie review, we'd love to hear from you.

I was planning to watch A Prince in Paradise: A Royal Wedding early, but it just didn't work out with my schedule this week. So I'm hoping that, since we are having a rainy weekend, I'll get the chance to stay in and watch. I heard from a friend who did watch it early on PureFlix, and she loved it! So, hopefully, we'll all enjoy it, too!

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

SHINING HIS LIGHT

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

~Colossians 3:12-15

This weekend is extra special because it's the final weekend of Christmas in July - plus Saturday, July 25th, marks just five months until Christmas! The Hallmark Channel also has the cable premiere of Love Under the Mistletoe, starring Jen Lilley and Nick Bateman, airing Saturday night! I've seen this movie and can tell you... it is lighthearted, family-friendly, and very sweet! Plus, during this premiere, be sure to look for a sneak peek of a new Countdown to Christmas movie... Christmas Delivered, starring Wes Brown and Autumn Reeser.

Then on Sunday evening, it's time for another episode of Blue Ridge. Episode 2 involves a mystery within the racing industry and features a guest appearance by Eric Close. I'm sure there will be plenty of suspense and plot twists.

And by the way, if you missed the first exciting episode of Blue Ridge season 2, which starred Sarah Drew, you can watch that for free on YouTube. (For those of you who love Sarah Drew in Mistletoe Murders, you'll definitely want to check that out.)

SHINING HIS LIGHT

I will listen to what God the Lord says;

he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—

but let them not turn to folly.

Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,

that his glory may dwell in our land.

Love and faithfulness meet together;

righteousness and peace kiss each other.

Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,

and righteousness looks down from heaven.

Press Release via Great American Media:

Great American Media

Strikes a Powerful New Chord

with “Abilene,”

A Bold New, Original Series

Coming to Great American Media

Platforms Early 2027

A Story of Starting Over — When the Road Leads You Home

NEW YORK, NY — July 23, 2026 — Great American Media continues its aggressive expansion into premium Original Series in 2027. Today, the company announced “Abilene” starring Rose Reid (Christmas On Every Page, Karen Kingsbury’s A Thousand Tomorrows) in the title role of “Abby” – legal name Abilene– a young woman looking for a fresh start.

Also starring in the ensemble cast is Elizabeth Mitchell (The Santa Clauses, “Lost”) as “Hannah,” Eric Close (“Nashville,” Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday) as “Ben,” Jordan Belfi (“All American,” “Moonlight”) as “Lashay,” Andrew Ferguson (Faith & Forgiveness: A Duck Dynasty Love Story) as “Matt,” Michael Pavone (The Mystery of Her) as “John,” Johnathon Schaech (“Blue Ridge”) as “Al,” Kevin Quinn (“Bunk’d,” “A Week Away”) as “Noah,” Taylor Kalupa (Christmas at The Starlight, “Blue Ridge”) as “Kayla,” and singer/songwriter, Riley Clemmons (“Broken Prayers,” “A Week Away”) as “Sam.” The World Premiere of “Abilene” will stream on Great American Pure Flix, and air on Great American Family and GFAM+ in early 2027.

“Abilene” follows Abby Morgan, a young woman looking to start over who finds herself stranded in the quiet, weathered town of Fair Haven, Ohio. What begins as a temporary stop becomes something more when Abby is offered work — and a place to stay — at a family-owned cider mill. As Abby forms unexpected bonds with the Wagner family — each navigating their own lives — she is confronted by realities of her talent and past. Through music, hard work, and the quiet grace of a community that believes in second chances, Abby begins a journey worth exploring.

“‘Abilene’ is reflective of the kind of story we tell at Great American Media. It is beautifully made, emotionally resonant, and grounded in values that matter,” said Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media. “We are proud to create an environment where exceptional talent can do meaningful work and where strong storytelling and purpose go hand in hand. As our Originals slate continues to grow, our commitment remains simple: deliver high-quality stories that audiences can trust, enjoy, and remember,” Abbott concluded.

“‘Abilene’ was born out of a love for the people and places that make small-town America so special, said series’ creator, Nicholas DiBella. “It’s a world filled with music, orchards, front porches, family traditions, and the belief that hope can still change a life. We feel incredibly blessed to have found a partner in Great American Media, whose appreciation for uplifting storytelling aligns so beautifully with the spirit of ‘Abilene,’” DiBella concluded.

Set against the backdrop of orchards, open skies, and a town that time nearly forgot, “Abilene” blends heartfelt drama with music and romance, weaving together themes of forgiveness, identity, and belonging. At its core is a simple but powerful question: Can you ever truly outrun your past — or does grace find you when you finally stop running?

With a compelling ensemble of characters, a richly textured setting, and an amazing soundtrack of Original music that echoes Abby’s inner journey, the series invites viewers into a world where even the most broken paths can lead somewhere beautiful.

Executive producers of “Abilene” are Nicholas DiBella who also serves as Showrunner, Director, and Writer, Brent Ryan Green who is also co-series Showrunner, Director), Jim Pavone, Chris Bueno, and Shelia Hart. Faith Street Films in association with Toy Gun Films is production company.
