  1. This is a big risk, I know. But I'm actually interested in A Royal Christmas Crush and have plans on recording it. Crossing fingers that it doesn't end up being dirty!

Also recording Belgian Chocolate Christmas. :) -Maria

    1. Dark Chocolate is good for health benefits as such as blood pressure, better sleep, lower risk heart disease, etc…

Don’t eat all chocolate bar!!! Break into small pieces of chocolate bar - square ones

  4. I will definitely be tuning in to both of these & trying to stay cool. We have another triple digit weekend here in CA, thankfully not humid like other states but feels too hot to even swim outside so I’ll enjoy watching these inside with my iced coffee 😊

  11. Review: A Belgian Chocolate Christmas -
    Family-friendly? Yes -
Keeper - Ugh! No way! -

To be perfectly blunt, this movie is a disaster!

All along, I felt like this movie was made by someone from a food network. Waaaaay too much time was spent comparing foods, or detailing how this was made or how that was made, to a point where the romantic plot - a very ridiculous mistaken identity plot - was secondary. Maybe that is why the romance seemed rushed, and forced, with no chemistry between the leads. (I hate to say this, but there seemed more of a connection between Zane and his male buddy than between Zane and Jaclyn!) Also, the acting by just about everyone was pretty bad! Unfortunately, not a good start for GAF.

    1. Mark 25, My thoughts exactly. I commented to my family that I noticed there are 21(?) new Christmas movies coming to GAC? I know they need to build up a lineup to use through the year (not a big fan of “I Dream of Jeannie” etc) but I cannot watch the low budget/ low quality movies. Sadly, they just get annoying. Would be better to release 10 high quality movies that we could watch again and again. Danica, Jill and Candace always have great quality movies for GAC, but I hope the others measure up!!

    2. Mark 25 - I so appreciate your latest reviews for "A Belgian Chocolate Christmas" and "Haul Out the Holly!" Your reviews are always so refreshingly honest and detailed. Now we see why, perhaps, "A Belgian Chocolate Christmas" was held back last year.

As for "Haul Out the Holly," it's individuals taste on this one. I think most have either a love or hate relationship with it. I can't say I hated it, but neither did I love it either.

I remember the first time I watched "Christmas with the Kranks," I really didn't like it all, but after re-watching it several times, I can say lines before they do and I've embraced all of the silliness. Perhaps, I'll eventually have some of those same feelings for "Haul Out the Holly," but the intro with the boyfriend and the parents leaving - will always dampen the story some for me.

Again, I so appreciate your reviews.
I've added them here and here.

      Thank you for sharing! :)

    3. Thank you for your kind words, Net. I find I am able to keep up with the watching and the reviews early on, and then at some point in December it's too much and I fall behind. In fact, I was looking over some reviews from last year, and I was surprised that I didn't comment on a few. Oh well, a Christmas resolution for me this year...do better with the reviews!

And I am probably waaaay in the minority here, but I have yet to watch Christmas with the Kranks all the way through! I don't know why, I just haven't! Okay, Christmas resolution #2...!

    4. Mark 25 - I know exactly what you mean when it comes to writing reviews. It's hard to keep up with them all - as the season gets busier.

As for Christmas with the Kranks, I know... it's a bit zany, at times, but the grocery store scene is THE BEST, the party is sooo fun, and the ending is truly beautiful and touching, so hopefully, you can make it all the way through this Christmas! :)

  12. A Royal Christmas Crush is family friendly about Ava is an architect who gets brought on to help her Uncle Karl Jensen Charlie puts the finishing touches on a gorgeous ice hotel constructed for the royal family of the fictional Nordic nation of FriΓΈrland. It’s there that the royal family retreats to spend the holiday season, away from the prying eyes of paparazzi. This is a very newsworthy time for the royals, because handsome Prince Henry is newly single & should have probably already mingled and married by now.

And that’s how fate brings together an architect named Ava & a prince named Henry for one chilly stay at a hotel that’s been carved out of ice. As things heat up between the two, though, members of the royals’ inner circle start to panic & try to pour cold water on this possible love connection. You’ve got the assistants digging up dirt on Ava & trying to set him up with possible suitors all while our girl is just trying to do her job & also deal with the fact that a prince has a crush on her. That hardly ever happens, let alone while one is at work

  13. I agree with Mark 25. Really tired of the cookie cutter same old either a couple together at the start is not together in the end or everything goes great until the end where there is a big disagreement or misunderstanding and then they miraculously get to get her for the final kiss. Hopefully writers will use their strike to be more creative. Just my take.

    1. 100%. It is hard to pass on clean, family movies, but these were just not up to snuff. Why is it so hard to get reliably clean movies that we can also love??

Thankfully, it's looking like better movies are on the way! :)

  16. I've heard that A Royal Christmas Crush was met with mixed reviews. Perhaps it was chemistry or storyline, but does anyone know what the scoop is? Thanks.

  17. Review: A Royal Christmas Crush -
    Family-friendly? Yes -
Keeper? No, but maybe a one-time watch

Other reviewers have pointed out some of the problems I had with this movie: 1) It's much more of a winter movie than a Christmas one, 2) The ice castle story is a hard one to take - I mean, building a new elaborate castle every year??, and 3) Stephen's accent is not consistent. But my main problems were that I expected more chemistry between Stephen and Katie (since they are in a relationship in real life) and I just didn't see it. And I don't think Katie really knew how to play her part. At times she acts nervous around the prince, but then at times she talks to him too casually, like he's a friend she's known for years. (I'm thinking she went off-script, using informal language instead of something more formal. Just a hunch.) The supporting cast were excellent, however. Anyway, it's not a bad movie, just not a keeper for me. Once was enough.

    1. Mark 25, Thank you for sharing another great review! You're on a roll, my friend!

Your point about their chemistry (or lack thereof) is really interesting. I was wondering how that might pan out on screen.

      Thank you, again! :)
