Sunday, September 11, 2022:

Storyline: Kayla (Marshall) heads back to her hometown of Stansville, North Carolina, after her substitute teaching job at an elite, private high school comes to an early end. On her first day back, her loving yet inquisitive mother (Maria Howell, Hidden Figures) sets up a job interview at her high school alma mater. Kayla, who ultimately wants to get into a competitive teaching program in London, is hesitant to apply. However, when it turns out that her high school best friend Tanya (Brittany L. Smith, Sweet Magnolias) is a teacher there and she is offered the job on the spot and quickly accepts. When Kayla initially struggles to connect with her students, Jordan (Truvillion), a jack-of-all-trades teacher who is devoted to supporting underserved students, steps in to help. Though reluctant to accept his input at first, she is soon inspired to try a fresh approach to help each of her students tap into their unique artistic passions and her students begin flourishing. When Kayla learns the school may be cutting the arts department due to budget cuts, she and Jordan work together to set up a fundraising showcase, with a little help from her longtime friend Shanice Wilson-Knox. Soon, sparks are flying between Kayla and Jordan as they discover a shared love of teaching, service and Sidney Poitier movies. However, when Kayla receives some teaching opportunities that would take her away from Stansville -- and Jordan -- she finds that her heart may still have a few things to teach her about what will make her happy.

Premieres Sunday, September 11, 2022

Disclaimer: Please know when I share a movie, this is NOT an endorsement of any of the actors involved, personally or professionally, with their other TV/film projects.

Note: I have not pre-screened the new movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

We do have one movie review in advance from Florence, who is a loyal reviewer here. She shared these details on the UPtv movie Finding Love in Big Sky, Montana:

"Really loved Jonathan Stoddard in Finding Love In Big Sky Montana. Looking him up on IMDB I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw that he has over 15 (yes FIFTEEN) movies completed. A lot of these are thrillers but several are RomComs including A Royal Christmas On Ice which is apparently airing on UPtv this Christmas" - Florence

This weekend, it's a little harder to choose, but my top two movie picks are A Taste of Tuscany and Marry Go Round. How about you? Which movie (or movies) are you most wanting to see?

I also want to take a moment before ending this post to honor the historic anniversary being marked this weekend. It's hard to believe that Sunday, September 11th, marks 21 years since the tragic day of September 11, 2001. For those of us who lived through that day, I know we will never forget it. My prayers go out to those who lost loved ones, and I pray our country never goes through a time like that ever again.

My heart and prayers are also with the Royal family, on the passing of their mother and grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

May you all have a peaceful and relaxing weekend.

Blessings, Net

    1. It seems to be based on a book by Angela Ruth Strong. Has anyone read it?

    2. Carol, I have a couple of her books on my kindle but have never gotten around to reading them. Several of my friends on Goodreads have read this particular book and, for the most part, they liked it. I got the impression that it was a light, enjoyable book and that maybe it might be a bit emotionally angsty and the main characters were maybe a bit teenager-ish? But all my friends said they loved the quirky side characters in the story who provided Christian advice and comic relief. Plus they all mentioned that the author's inclusion of her faith was what helped this book get better ratings from them - she was not afraid to show Jesus to her readers. (By the way, this was supposedly a Christmastime story but I guess it got changed for the movie.)

    3. Jane, I'm so glad you shared these extra details with us. I was curious about this movie before, but now, I am even more intrigued to see it. I love when books/movies have great side characters. Often times, I feel there is too much focus on just the leads. Hope the movie highlights those characters, as well, and the faith elements from the book.

That is also quite interesting that it was previously a Christmas-themed story.

  4. Ok, A Taste of Tuscany will probably make me hungry. Might be a good pizza night. ;) But seriously it does look good and so does Marry Go Round.

My heart goes out to the Royal family. It's hard losing a loved one. I lost my grandma last April. Sadly she wasn't a believer. I hope Queen Elizabeth ll new the Lord as her Savior before she died and that God would use this difficult time to save souls. I pray also for the new King Charles. That God would give him wisdom and use him for good.

Praying also for families members who lost loved ones on 9/11. May God comfort them and be able to think about them with a smile. Also praying to protect our soldiers and police officers during this worldly time.

Net, do you have any updates on that Ukrainian family you asked us to pray for. I hope they are well and safe. Ukraine still desperately needs prayers. The news isn't talking about them anymore, but their still going through a dangerous time and need help.

    1. Abigail, I'm so sorry you lost your grandmother, as well. It's been a little over two years for me. Some days it feels like yesterday, and other days, it feels like forever. I agree, it is sad to see any family lose a loved one.

As for the Ukrainian family I mentioned before, I saw the request for prayer in a random social media post at the beginning of the war and so, I shared this request with all of you. I have tried to find an update on the family, but unfortunately, have not been successful. I pray the family is all okay, wherever they may be now. I feel their story is one that has taken place in many Ukrainian families, with the women and children fleeing the country and the men, fathers and older sons, remaining to help fight. It is such a sad, heartbreaking situation for those people.

On a brighter note... Thank you, Abigail, for your comment. I hope you have a nice weekend and enjoy the new movies. Pizza sounds like a wonderful Italian food pick for watching A Taste of Tuscany! I think I'll have that, too, and a little spaghetti. Blessings on your weekend!

  8. A Taste of Tuscany is family friendly. April Meyers is a healthy chef for her own recipes for her cookbook. Her recipes are missing ingredients for flavors by feedback by food critics. April’s family lives in Italy 🇮🇹 expect for her Uncle Derek. April meets others for culinary tour lead by Roberto Crowley. April & Robert cooking together unless Derek tries to taste Robert & April’s dishes & it’s barely delicious. A resturant owner allows 2 new chefs; Rob Crowley & April Meyers back home in New York in her Restaurant. April & Rob cooking their food collaborator together. April takes credits of culinary from Roberto Crowley but the Restaurant owner needs 2 chefs named Rob Crowley & April Meyers when she has her own Restaurant for Grand Opeming.

  10. Marry Go Round was excellent. Just the right touch of drama and romance. Although you wanted to knock some sense into the mother. Brennan Elliott and Amanda Schull are amazing. - Melissa

  11. Florence - you may want to skip. There's a single mother in there 😲. Too bad I like the sister.

  12. Marry Go Round...

This was probably the best Hallmark film I've seen in awhile. It was family friendly. Brendan Elliott and Amanda Schull were so great together. So much chemistry between the two. Felt real. I loved the plot and how the character Luke did not want to end the marriage. It's supposed to be a lifetime commitment. When they say they love each other in the courtroom, I cried. It was so sweet. I want to see it again. I'm going to buy it on DVD when it (eventually) comes out. Watch it, it won't disappoint!😀

  21. I like to check a movie on IMDB to see the full cast. It was driving me crazy that I could not find A Taste of Tuscany. Putting Laura Mitchell's name in did not help. By pure accident I finally found it called Just Add Love, with a release date during the summer. Very strange.

    1. Carol, Oh my goodness... I know how that feels, as I've been there myself. You're right; they did re-title this movie before it aired on Great American Family.

I have both titles mentioned in my post for "A Taste of Tuscany" here:
      https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2022/08/great-american-family-gac-september-2022-movie-tv-schedule.html

I agree, it does make it much harder on us viewers to find information on these movies when they change movie titles around like this. I'm so glad you were eventually able to find it.
