Family Friends Brands Set to Launch Across Platforms on September 27

NEW YORK, NY - August 26, 2021 - GAC Media today announced the launch of GAC Family and GAC Living as the company’s flagship networks and new destinations for family friendly programming across platforms. The announcement was made today by Bill Abbott, President & CEO of GAC Media.

GAC Family and GAC Living will launch on September 27th and evolve from the newly acquired Great American Country and Ride TV networks, respectively. As two distinct brands, GAC Family and GAC Living will be the foundation for GAC Media’s effort to revitalize and invest in timeless and entertaining programming that celebrates Americana.

“At GAC we’re focused on creating strong brands, compelling programming and a consistent family friendly viewing experience across multiple genres,” said Abbott. “The launch of GAC Family and GAC Living is the next phase in ourstrategy to bolster the company’s portfolio with networks that deliver on the promise of safe and entertaining storytelling that enriches lives.

GAC Family programming will evolve to include a slate of family friendly original movies and series that celebrate relationships and the emotional connections related to holidays, seasons and occasions.

GAC Living will continue to offer high-quality, unscripted lifestyle content while expanding to serve as the unscripted companion to GAC Family. With tagline “Life Well Lived,” GAC Living will draw on established themes and talent to highlight celebrations and seasons with a focus on southern and country living.

Programming slates for GAC Family and GAC Living will be announced at a later date.

  1. Nice to see this, but I think it will be a long wait before my cable company adds this programming to their network.

    1. My DirecTV doesn't have the Ride TV channel (to my knowledge), so I don't think I'll be able to see the GAC Living programming. We do have the regular GAC channel. Hopefully, as these channels develop and grow - they will become available to more viewers.

  2. This is great news. I bet they will get great movies and Hallmark will lose more viewers.

    1. But the diehard Hallmark fans who either subscribe to the 3 channels they have or the huge amounts who pay for the App will stay with them.

    1. Jennifer, I hope so, too! I know a lot of followers here have that streaming service. GAC Family & GAC Living sound like a perfect fit for it!

    2. I talked to FrndlyTV customer service and they assured me that they are aware of the interest in GAC Family, so I hope it will happen--sooner rather than later would be great! If they added it, I would definitely think about signing up to see the GAC Family Christmas movies, because I don't get the channel on Mediacom right now. :-)

  7. Interesting.

Hallmark may very well have cause to be worried about this.

But it will depennd on waht exactly they mean by:

"GAC Family programming will evolve to include a slate of family friendly original movies and series that celebrate relationships and the emotional connections related to holidays, seasons and occasions."

This could cover a great deal of ground.

If it was movies similar to what Hallmark were producing up to a couplre of years ago I'd be more than happy.

But we'll have to wait and see - Florence

    1. Florence, it sounds like this is their objective. To make shows/movies that are wholesome like Hallmark used to produce. That will be blessing.

  8. This sounds promising! Maybe I can once again relax while watching a movie. With all the trash we are exposed to when watching TV, some decent viewing is a blessing. Thanks Net for this info.

  9. In Jen Lilley's interview on Hallmark Happenings https://www.hallmarkhappenings.com/ she shared that she is starting to film a Christmas movie for GAC family. It's tentatively titled, "Royally Wrapped for Christmas". The plot involves her character, a director of a charity who wants every child in the world to have a Christmas gift, fall in love with a prince.

I wonder if more Hallmark stars will be making movies/shoes for GAC in the future!

    1. Thank you for sharing this interview! It was great to hear even more detail about Jen Lilley’s upcoming Christmas movie, plus actually hear the excitement in her voice. I love that she’ll be portraying a princess - sounds perfect for her! It was also nice to hear that Bill Abbott reached out to her in April for this part... I’m looking forward to hearing who her co-star is!

  13. Since Mr. Abbott led Hallmark Channel during its decade of huge growth, I'm definitely interested to see what he does with a new network. The audience for this kind of content hasn't been exhausted, that's for sure.

  14. I'm curious to see if it goes back into my cable lineup and the movies which they've acquired.

  15. I hadn't seen the press release but I read a news report yesterday which made GAC Family seem more like BYU TV than Hallmark. We shall see. Perhaps it will be more like Hallmark as time goes on and they continue developing more original programming.

My cable company is AT&T Uverse. This is what I replied to my friend who sent me the link to the article about this.

"I already get GAC on my Uverse, channels 529 (SD) and 1529 (HD). I just flipped through the schedule for the next few days. The big programs are many half hours of "Log Cabin Living" and "Flea Market Flip." I set an episode of "Moving Country" to record Monday afternoon entitled "Chris and Jenny Move to Austin" ([where I live] from the "busy atmosphere" of DFW area), originally aired on 2014.4.16. I wonder what Chris and Jenny think of Austin now, 7 years later.

The other channel they bought, Ride TV, is on Uverse, too, but I'm not subscribed."

    1. Speaking of BYUtv they haven't aired any Rom.Coms for some time now.

I find it very hard to navigate their site but don't see any listed for September.

Let's hope everyone here will get the chance to watch GAC.

Like evrything new it will probably take a while for everything to straighten out - Florence

    1. Clara, I'm pretty excited about the movies too. They are taking over those channels with their own programming.

  17. Just seeing this now....I looked up GACTV on my Cox Cable (southern Ca;ifornia) and I have it on my cable. They were airing a fishing show. I would guess that the GAC Family would be on it too when it comes....seems like they are in the beginning stages of it. I for one will be glad to see another avenue than Hallmark for good family friendly movies....and what a way to start with Jen Lilley....I adore her!!!!

    1. Janet, Thank you for sharing in the excitement! That's right - GAC Family will be replacing your GAC channel come September 27th!

    1. Janice, I'm not sure if this will work for you, but I did find this info about Cox on another web-site:

CoxComm Channel 1156 (one person noted that in their region, it was 198, and another person noted that it was 1358 in their region) (-information via heavy.com)

Hope one of these channel numbers works for you. If you can't locate it, then I would suggest calling your cable provider and asking for more details and requesting GAC Family.

They haven't launched their new programming, yet, but the promos for it are beautiful and inspiring!

  26. Hello! I have Verizon FiOS and can't find GAC Family but have GAC living. Does anyone know what channel GAC Family is on FiOS? Thank you. Very excited for this new channel.

    1. I was able to find this information for Verizon Fios - see this *link*.

If I were you, I would call them and demand it. It's on DirecTV and DISH - so they need to be competitive and carry it, too.

  27. Philo currently has GAC Family as well as Hallmark Channels. They also have UPTV that shows a lot of older Hallmark movies.

Would really like to see FrndlyTV TV had the GAC channels to their lineup.

  28. I'd like to see Dish add it to our line up we get GAC Living it looks like some awesome movies will come on so please add it!!

  29. I hope GAC becomes the new Hallmark now that Hallmark has cheapened itself to appease woketivists.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Man, hard to believe it's been 2 years now since this announcement. :) I 1st heard of this network because a Hallmark fan was grumbling about it sounding so 'against being inclusive', and being that I was aware that negative views from fans were a fan of the woke stuff can often be a good thing, I got curious in the network. And after seeing the 1st preview show for Great American Christmas, I was impressed!

It's been amazing to see a network like this grow the way it has in the last 2 years. (that, and I've never witnessed any kind of cable network grow into any kind of hit before this). And I look forward to the future. -Maria
