Jen Lilley Announces New Movie + All Aboard for an Encore Airing of the Patriotic Movie - USS Christmas!

Recently in her IG stories Jen Lilley shared with a follower she will be filming a new TV movie titled: Love in the Afternoon.

She, unfortunately, did not confirm if it is for Hallmark; however, her last three films (Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday, USS Christmas, and Snowkissed) have been for the network.

Here's a screen-grab of the exchange on Instagram:

A follower asks Jen Lilley if she has, "Any upcoming movies?"

Jen responds with an image of her script, which includes the movie title: Love in the Afternoon written by Sandra Berg and Judith Berg. In case your curious, Sandra and Judith are sisters who have written previous Hallmark movies: Christmas Next Door, Love on the Sidelines, A Dash of Love, Harvest Love and more. The last two movies mentioned just happen to star Jen Lilley!

Under the title, Jen writes: "Yep! About to go film one. 😊"

If you look close, you can also see a little snippet of Act One at the bottom - with characters Nicole and Chase.

Now... we'll have to keep a look out for this new movie after it starts filming later this month - to see where it eventually lands!

Reviews for USS Christmas:

πŸŽ„"USS Christmas - Family Friendly. It was refreshing to have a movie that was so pro military and America. I thought both the leads did a great job and the story the girl is researching was sweet. I'm a sucker for a happy ending so I loved it!" ~ Anna

πŸŽ„"I just watched USS Christmas and this was another great movie on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Finally, Christmas movies with a mystery and a good romance story. Both the leads had wonderful chemistry. Sometimes, Jen seems over the top to me, but somehow, Trey knows how to level that off and she shined. The secondary characters were all top notch and the writing was spot on. I really recommend this family friendly, romance with a great mystery. This year, I think HMM has had better movies than Hallmark!" ~ Misty

πŸŽ„"USS Christmas! WOW! I love Jen Lilley and Trevor Donovan but this one even surprised me with how much I loved it. It was sweet and thoughtful. So refreshing to see something a little different and definitely loved seeing the military families celebrated. The chemistry between the cast was the icing on the cake. USS Christmas and A Timeless Christmas are absolute tops for this season so far!" ~ J.F. Hale

πŸŽ„"Loved U.S.S. Christmas! Definitely want that DVD." ~ kitkat

πŸŽ„"USS Christmas. I really liked this one and it’s a keeper for me, but that’s partially because I’ve lived in the world of Naval aviators and enjoyed watching a movie based on that (even the unrealistic parts). I have a brother and a former fiancΓ© that both flew FA-18 jets (what the lead actor flew); my brother actually kind of looks like Trevor Donovan (especially in his green flight suit). This movie wasn’t as great as some of my other favorites this year but I definitely liked it. Plus, I think Jen is adorable. And the little mystery was sweet. Family friendly." ~~Jane

πŸŽ„USS Christmas is the Top Gun of Hallmark movies! I just love the patriotic theme in USS Christmas and the way the movie beautifully honors our military. Since the setting of this film was at an actual aircraft carrier - the World War II-era aircraft carrier Yorktown, it was absolutely incredible on screen. The love story between Jen Lilley and Trevor Donovan's characters, reporter Maddie Johnson and Navy fighter pilot Lt. Billy Jenkins, is gradual and sweet; it was interesting to watch them both overcome issues from their past to discover love again. I highly recommend this family friendly Christmas movie! ~ Net

    1. Chris, I love the movie USS Christmas, too! Jen and Trevor are wonderful together!

  2. It used to be that you could automatically know that certain star's movies would be aired by Hallmark - maybe Covid is the reason this has changed but that no longer is the norm for many actors.

I was amazed for example when Sweet Autumn with Nikki Deloach and Andrew Walker turned out to have been purchased from Reel One and Snowkissed also originated from them.

Snowkissed received quite a few negative comments but I personally really liked it so I'm looking forward to this new Jen Lilley movie - I'm sure the chances are that this WILL be Hallmark.

In many a year USS Christmas would have been right near the top of my favourite Christmas movies and it would still make my top 10 but last year there were just so many exceptional ones.

I love the scene where they jump out of the taxi and race to get on board the ship before the deadline - Florence

    1. I, too, liked Snowkissed. I'll buy the DVD if or when it is available. Jen and Chris are two of my favorite Hallmark actors. The lead characters helped each other grow as a person which was a plus for me.

I still have my favorite 2020 Christmas Day (90 minute ones) movies DVRd and USS Christmas is one of them. I was so happy that HM&M showed limited commercial movies like Hallmark Channel

There was another Love in the Afternoon with Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper back in the late 50's.

    2. Florence, That is so true... it's much harder now to know where a new movie is going these days- with Hallmark, UP, and so many streaming options.

By the way, that taxi scene is so good in USS Christmas! Thank you for pointing it out! I absolutely love the movie, but I kinda wish the end could have been more dramatic like that scene.

    3. Namegirl, I also look forward to the limited commercial interruption movies on Christmas day. Only thing is, I'm trying to recall, did they replay all of the new ones last year on Christmas Eve/Day? I was thinking they didn't, so it's best to record any favorites before that day, just in case.

How cool that Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper have a movie with that same title! Wouldn't it be cool if this could be a remake? I doubt that it is, but that would be really neat.

    4. Net, I recorded all of the HMCH & HM&M movies that I wanted to keep. Then I deleted them when I was sure that the 90 minute movies were perfect.

I've seen it several times on TCM. It was about a winter-summer romance where Gary Cooper was an aging playboy, Audrey Hepburn was a cellist in an orchestra, iirc. I didn't care for the story-line. The actors were were great of course. I don't think that the story line is Hallmark's cup-of-tea.

    5. Namegirl - That's what I do, too! Great minds think alike! Cause - we never know if they'll stop doing that, especially now with other changes coming.

I've seen many classic movies, but I have never seen "Love in the Afternoon." I just read the synopsis - you are soooo right, definitely not a Hallmark type movie. Thank YOU for sharing that info.

    6. I’ve seen that movie. I agree with Namegirl, not a Hallmark type movie. Wonder if they have any clue that there is another movie with that same title?

  3. You had a nice long list of patriotic movies airing on your site the other day. I can no longer find it. Is there a link so I can get to the list (I want to search for them on my streaming services so I can watch them.) I know Memorial Day has passed, but I would like to see the list of movies. Thanks!

  4. I don't know about you but I think that the Christmas movies on Friday in June are terrible. I don't know if it's the first Fridays in June or the last two Fridays in June.

    1. Chris, the first two aren't for me, but I'm glad to see "On the 12th Date of Christmas" and "Write Before Christmas" airing on Fridays at the end of June! I like both of these movies, especially "Write Before Christmas!"

    3. Chris, To be honest, it's not one of my favorites, but I like Jessy Schram and Wes Brown a lot. It was just okay.

  7. Jen Lilley and Ryan Paevey Star in a Soapy New Hallmark Movie!

    Kailey Schwerman/Crown Media

Since making their respective exits from daytime, Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Maxie, GENERAL HOSPITAL) and Ryan Paevey(ex-Nathan, GH) have become staples in the Hallmark Channel’s rotation of made-for-TV movies. In fact, the duo starred together in the 2015 film Harvest Love for the cable network — and according to Lilley, they are about to film another movie together later this month!

If you follow Lilley on Instagram, you know that the GH and DAYS alumna has been quarantining in Vancouver, as she’s about to begin work on her next Hallmark movie. Last week, she revealed in an Instagram story that her next project will be a film titled Love In The Afternoon. The actress also shared a photo of the cover page of her script, which showed that the movie was written by sisters Sandra and Judith Berg — who also penned Harvest Love!
