  1. I haven't been able to find the Hallmark Drama channel to watch Christmas Cookie Matchup. Hallmark website says it's on the Pluto channel, which I get, but I can't find the program. Any help for me? Thanks.

    1. Hello artsgirl! I searched through Pluto TV's channels and I, too, do not see Hallmark Drama. Can you contact them by phone or social media and ask?

I don't have it, personally, but frndlytv.com (a streaming service) offers all three Hallmark channels.

Also... Maybe you can try and search through Hallmark's *channel locator* to see if Hallmark Drama is offered somewhere else for you.

  2. Hallmark ornaments exhibit at Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation Museum of American Innovation

Never underestimate the power of a Hallmark Keepsake ornament, particularly if there's a long line to meet Santa.

"When my daughter was really little, like, 2 and 3 and 4 years old, the way we would convince her to get her Christmas picture at the mall is we would promise her she could get a Hallmark ornament afterwards," says Donna Braden.

Like Santa's arrival at a Thanksgiving parade or FM radio stations that play carols 24/7 in early November, browsing an array of Hallmark Keepsake ornaments has become a ritual of American life.

It also might become the next big holiday tradition in Detroit, thanks to the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.

Starting Monday and lasting through the holidays, the Dearborn museum will be displaying 110 samples of a huge, new collection of Hallmark Keepsake ornaments acquired from a Hallmark retailer in the Midwest.

There are 6,600 ornaments altogether. And next year, the Henry Ford Museum wants to begin showing all of them on a seasonal basis.

Can you say buses full of Hallmark fans?

The ornaments date from 1973 — the debut year for the Keepsake line — to 2009. They originally belonged to a family-owned Hallmark store, the Party Shop, in Indiana that opened in 1978.

When the owners decided to retire, the museum was approached about becoming a possible new home for objects that packed much in terms of meaning — and drew bus tours to the rural Indiana site, which doubled as an ornament museum.

Another sign of culture shifts? As the ornament franchise grew, a variety of movies and TV series, fictional characters and sports figures became part of the mix. By the 1990s, pop-culture touchstones were firmly a part of the Keepsake experience, according to Braden.

Like miniature time capsules, the collection traces the history of modern Disney movies, "Star Wars" reboots and revivals, the "Harry Potter" craze, nostalgia for TV shows like "Star Trek," and appreciation for classic cars and Barbie dolls, among other themes.

"This year, for 'Toy Story 4,' the first ornament we bought was Forky," says Braden.

Of course, Hallmark is just as well-known for its holiday cards and its Hallmark cable channel, which began its 2019 Countdown to Christmas holiday-themed programming on Oct. 25.

Yet unlike cards and TV movies, ornaments are carefully stored and unwrapped each year. They sometimes capture a moment in time or commemorate a wedding, birth or other occasion.

Braden, a senior curator/curator of public life for Henry Ford Museum, is a Keepsake ornament fan herself who also sees the decorations from the perspective of both marketing and societal tradition.

They've made it not just a big part of their business, but a big part of our culture," says Braden of Hallmark's idea, which started in 1973 with a low-key six glass balls and 12 yarn figures
and has since spawned 8,400 different Keepsake Ornaments, along with a collectors club, special buying events and print and online Dream Books of what's available each year

    1. Thank you for sharing this article. This sounds like such a fun place to visit and see all of these Hallmark ornaments from 1973 to 2009. When it comes to Christmas, ornaments are one of my favorite things! They can represent so many precious memories!

I hope many are able to visit the Museum and see this incredible collection!

    2. Happy Thanksgiving all. I'll also be going over to my Mom's tonight (Tuesday) to help her set up the Thanksgiving Table. I like those set up days. Kind of the fun before the fun. The anticipation thing that you all know I like. Then on Thanksgiving morning I will go over about 9am and help her put the Turkey in the oven and do other prep stuff and watch the Macy's Day Thanksgiving parade at same time. Something about that parade is so traditional and so comforting. I always wanted to go to New York City to see that parade live and then stay until they lit the Christmas Tree the week later...Never made it though.

    3. That sounds like such a wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving, Jim! Hope you enjoyed eating lots of goodies and aren't too stuffed today! I certainly look forward to when the last dish is set on the table and we can finally pray together, give thanks and eat!

I know just what you mean about the Macy's Day Thanksgiving parade! It would be fun to see in person, if only I could zap there and zap back home in time for Thanksgiving dinner - I would totally do it! Because there's no place like home when it comes to Thanksgiving!!! :)

  8. New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel is the setting for Christmas at the Plaza. Jessica (Elizabeth Henstridge) is an archival historian whose current relationship is going nowhere fast. When she’s commissioned to help create an exhibition honoring the hotel’s history, she ends up working with Nick (Ryan Paevey), a decorator who’s in charge of transforming the Plaza into a Christmas wonderland. As she finds herself falling for Nick, Jessica has to decide on her romantic priorities.
Peavey loves being a part of the Hallmark family. “I think what I like best about, and what keeps me coming back to work in the Hallmark world is similar to what keeps viewers coming back…of all of the places to go to make believe in TV, there has to be one that’s a safe space, a happy place,” he told Parade earlier in 2018. “Hallmark provides a sort of safe harbor in a sea of violence and such in TV, a place where you can go and see the stuff good memories are made of all the time, with no surprises…you watch a Hallmark movie, I’m betting you’re happier after it.”
