I'm so excited for Christmas Under Wraps to come to DVD! Now im hoping for Matchmaker Santa to eventually come to dvd.
ReplyDelete"Matchmaker Santa" can be found on PixL's year-round, official YouTube channel (along with a lot of other movies familiar to Hallmark viewers, many of which have never made it to DVD).
DeleteMy hunch is that the answer to why "Matchmaker Santa" and a lot of the other Hallmark movies on the PixL YouTube channel have never made it to DVD lies somewhere in the legalities and red tape between PixL/Larry Levinson and Hallmark.
If it were solely up to Hallmark, I'm pretty sure they would release all of the movies that people ask for on DVD all the time. But, depending on various factors (including distributors, production companies, original contracts, etc.), the DVDs may never happen if they were not planned from the beginning and if they are not totally under Hallmark's control.
Some of LL's past movies have been released on DVD. You're correct in that Hallmark doesnt own the rights to be able to put it on DVD.
DeleteThis is so exciting! After reading this post, I went to Walmart to see what else they may have available and discovered two movies from this years lineup available for pre-order. A Wish for Christmas with Lacey Chabert and Paul Greene and Christmas Cookies with Jill Wagner and Wes Brown. Hopefully they will continue to put more movies on DVD.

Thank you so much for posting about Christmas Under Wraps. I'm one of the many who have been waiting for this one to come out on DVD. I already have Let It Snow. These are my two favorites and have CUW saved on my DVR from a few years ago. I'm glad to finally be able to delete it and have the DVD.
