Well, I am beyond thrilled that "Angels & Ornaments" is coming to DVD! That is a favorite, for sure.

  2. I want them all, Net! Even the new artwork on all of those Christmas Animations are super cute and irresistible.

  3. I can't help from thinking how it is a little strange that the complete story of The Bridge is available on DVD when the original plan was for Part 2 to premiere this Christmas. Do you think it would have been released this year, if not for the early airing back in March, after last years "to be continued" debacle.

  4. I'm so happy that "The Spirit of Christmas" is being released on DVD! That was my favorite movie last Christmas season, so I think it's good that it's getting the recognition and attention it deserves.

The one movie I'm shocked is being put on DVD is "Wish for Christmas" because I remember Net mentioning on the upcoming Christmas movie list that this movie would premiere on Lifetime. Has the network changed their minds about airing this movie? If so, will there be a movie to replace "Wish for Christmas"?

    1. I too am super happy that "The Spirit of Christmas" is coming to DVD!! It was tied for first on my list last season! I too love that it is getting much needed recognition. Wonderful acting, poignant story, beautiful love story.

    2. Marvista often puts movies on VOD or DVD before their TV premiere. They did that for all its movies last year putting them on VOD at the end of November

  5. Thank you for posting news about Christmas DVD's. After all these years, I'm still waiting for some movies that won't ever make it to the DVD stage...Battle of the Bulbs (Daniel Stern), The Christmas List (Mimi Rogers) and Christmas Every Day (Erik VonDetten). Looking forward to more news about more upcoming Christmas DVD's.

    1. Those are three movies that I love, too, Jill! I look for them every year on DVD, and every year they aren't released. :(

We'll be lucky if they even get an airing on TV. I will be certain to look for them and add them to the Christmas Schedule - if they are. Let's hope! :)

  6. Me, too, Sherry!! I loved "Angels and Ornaments"!! Every time I watched the movie the music would stay in my head all day long!! "The Christmas Secret" and "Angel of Christmas" were also big hits for me. This must be the largest amount of releases at one time ever and I'm loving it. Thanks, Net!!

Linda -- There do seem to be a lot of Christmas movie DVDs coming out this year (from all networks)! You're right! There are still a couple that I am waiting on from 2015, but this is a great start!

I always thought it would have been fun to release a "gift set" kind of situation that included the "Angels & Ornaments" DVD, a CD of the song sung in the movie, the sheet music for the song, a little replica of the caroler ornament (a Hallmark ornament, of course), and maybe something extra like the scarf worn in the movie.

But... I suppose we are lucky that the movie is finally even getting to DVD after almost 2 years. I suppose I cannot expect more than just the DVD at this point.

It is such a good movie, though. I remember when it premiered, a lot of people were bashing it and complaining on the Hallmark social media pages (as is always the case). I read the complaints before I saw the movie, so I was thinking I would end up disliking it. I didn't know what to expect.

Maybe it was because I went into viewing Angels & Ornaments with low expectations that I ended up loving it! I'm so glad it's now on DVD.

I enjoyed "Angel of Christmas" and "The Christmas Secret" a lot. I keep thinking that Angel of Christmas is going to move over to HMM. It seems to kind of fit the tone they have going on over on that channel (lots of angels on the HMM channel!). I don't know if it will, though.

    2. 'Angels & Ornaments' is rather fun, interesting, and quirky. It has definitely grown on me. The song 'Twas the Night' truly does stay with you... So agree, Linda! I often find myself humming or singing it days after I've seen the movie.

Love your marketing ideas for it, Sherry. I think the ornament idea would have been a perfect fit for Hallmark. They definitely should design ornaments to go with some of their best movies!

  8. "A Wish for Christmas" starry Lacey Chabert and Paul Greene to premier this year (2016) on Hallmark is available to pre-order at Walmart.com.
I guess that settles the debate once and for all whether Hallmark is going to change the name of their upcoming film. :)

I just typed out a detailed response about the 2 movies premiering with the same title in the same holiday season, and how it makes a big difference in the "debate" if one of them goes straight to DVD (which looks like it might happen with the Joey Lawrence movie). But, upon submitting it, it didn't go through because I guess Net was editing this site or tweaking something at the exact moment I was submitting the comment. So I lost all of my text.

I'm not going to type it all out again for fear of losing that too, but suffice it to say that the original debate (for lack of a better word) was about 2 different networks premiering/debuting movies of the same exact title in the same year, during the same holiday season, and causing confusion/losing viewers because of it -- not about one of the movies going straight to DVD, which is a different issue because it doesn't pull ratings and viewers from a network. In that case, Hallmark wouldn't need to change a title.

    1. Still no news on 'Christmas Under Wraps' coming to DVD. I'll be sure to keep a look out for it, though. I imagine it would do very well, considering it stars Candace Cameron Bure. There must be reasons for a delay.

  11. I'm still waiting for Matchmaker Santa to come out on dvd. It's one of my favorites and every year, it's still not out. I just don't get it. :(

I said a bit about this issue under a different post/in a different thread in the last week, but the short answer is that there are certain movies over which Hallmark does not have total control as far as DVD releases. There is more red tape involved that what it would seem to the viewers.

"Matchmaker Santa" is one of those movies. PixL/Larry Levinson also has a hand in it, and it's not solely Hallmark who is at fault for not putting out the DVD.

If it were completely up to Hallmark, I'm pretty sure they'd put all of their movies on DVD.

You can watch "Matchmaker Santa" all year long on the PixL YouTube channel, however (along with other Hallmark movies -- many of which have not made it to DVD, and some that have).

  17. Any news on more 2016 Hallmark DVD releases this year? Last year they released 5 of the new movies shortly after airing and the year before (2014) they released 4. So far 2016 has only yielded 3 of the new (current) year releases. :( I want more! :)
