Beth Landon (Julie Mond), a small-town music teacher with big singing aspirations has been crowned the Strawberry Queen of the annual Festival. Pulling some strings, Beth has landed country music heartthrob Jason Keith (Trevor Donovan) to perform at this year's event. A one-hit wonder notorious for cancelling shows, Jason with his bad-boy attitude isn't what Beth's mother, Eileen (Shelley Long), considers a reliable musical act for the town's beloved festival, which she is proudly hosting. Beth attempts to stick up for her favorite singer, but when she finally meets Jason face-to-face, it becomes obvious it won't be easy. But behind Jason's rock star stereotypes, he's hiding a secret about his past that could turn his tanking career around. Along with his Jason's manager, Beth convinces Jason the festival gig is a great way to revitalize his career and win back his audience appeal. Soon, as Jason spends more time with Beth and finds himself opening up for the first time, an unexpected romance develops and they help each other find the courage to pursue their real passions in life.

PLOT:

from GMC Press Release:

The movie is told through the eyes of Brooks Douglass, who suffered an unthinkable attack when two strangers entered his home and claimed the life of his mother and father who were Baptist missionaries. It was in 1979 when Brooks and his sister Leslie were teenagers that a drug-crazed drifter Glen Ake and his partner Steven Hatch invaded the Douglass’ rural Oklahoma home. Brooks opened the door to what he believed to be a man in need. The men pulled out guns, bound the family, repeatedly assaulted Leslie and shot all four family members. Richard and Marilyn died at the scene. Brooks and Leslie, left for dead, recovered from their severe wounds, but their ordeal had just begun.

As the story flashes back in this intimate family portrait, we see happier times for the Douglass family and a home filled with love, compassion and faith. The story explores the long term effects of the Douglass’ teachings and how the power of forgiveness can triumph injustice, tragedy and loss.

Ake and Hatch were caught, tried and in 1980, sentenced to death. For the next 16 years, however, the suffering rolled on as a legal system created to protect the rights of the accused, required the Douglass children to testify in court and relive the horrific night.

Brooks and Leslie were deeply affected by that traumatic night. They experienced financial challenges and emotional trauma. Leslie fought to put her life back together after the attack. Brooks struggled through high school and college, but eventually regained his footing and became Oklahoma’s youngest state senator. As senator, he passed a series of victims’ rights bills, including the right of victims to view executions.

In Heaven’s Rain, we see Brooks dedicating his life to gaining legal justice for the unjust and releasing himself from the prison of bitterness that had dominated his life and relationships.

INSP Press Release: Corbin Bernsen Movies

Information below directly from - INSP OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

-----------Press Release-----------
INSP Announces Exclusive Agreements
with Corbin Bernsen

Deal includes exclusive network premieres of “RUST” and “25 HILL”

Indian Land, SC –INSP today announced the signing of an exclusive multi-film agreement with Corbin Bernsen and Home Theater Films (HTF). This agreement gives the Network rights to exclusive television premieres in the U.S.The announcement was made by Doug Butts, SVP Programming.

“We’re excited to announce this agreement with Corbin’s production company,” said Butts. “Adding original movies of this caliber allows us to continue our commitment to INSP viewers to provide positive entertainment content for the entire family. These films not only strengthen our schedule, but build on the momentum we’ve gained with our currentline-up.  The partnership between INSP and HTF provides our audience with the kind of programming they have come to expect from us - an encouraging message that celebrates honesty, hard work, faith, family and freedom.”

“This has been a dream for me,” notes Bernsen.  “I’ve wanted to create family-oriented movies for several years and I’ve put my heart and soul into these projects.  It thrills me to think about moms and dads sitting with their kids to watch stories that champion the good in people.  I am pleased that INSP has grasped my vision and is committed to showcase these television debuts.  I also am pleased that we share a common vision; to provide wholesome family entertainment that brings out the best in people.”

The agreement currently includes two feature films.

RUST is the story of Jimmy Moore (Bernsen), a former minister in a midlife crisis of faith that rocks his life's calling.  Returning to his small hometown, Moore finds it reeling from a recent tragedy. Can he get to the bottom of a mysterious fire and clear his boyhood friend? A unique story of friendship and calling, RUST may well be Corbin Bernsen's most personal project to date. Set in the real-life Canadian town of Kipling, Saskatchewan (and featuring local citizens in prominent roles), RUST was inspired by the spiritual journey that Corbin has traveled since his father's death in 2008.

25 HILL chronicles the father-son relationship between 12 year-old Trey Caldwell and his dad, an Army Reservist, as the two take on the project of building a Soap Box Derby car. But the work is cut short when Trey’s dad is called to duty in Afghanistan. Two days in he is killed. Trey is left with his mom, the unfinished car and a dream that is all but dead. Trey’s teacher puts him together with a man from her church, Roy Gibbs, a local Fire Chief (Bernsen), who himself suffered the tragic loss of his own son, a NYC firefighter killed on 9/11.

How lovely for me to share my Birthday with such a lovely lady! I just adore her sense of style, from the movies she did - wearing such beautiful dresses, pearls, and gloves with such grace and elegance!

I just love this picture of Doris Day above - she reminds me of a dear Aunt of mine. She was just as beautiful as Doris Day and everyone thought she also looked like a movie star.
