🎬 Which Great American Family Movies & Series Earned Movieguide Award Nominations?

Fantastic news for Great American Family!

Several movies and actors from the burgeoning channel earned nominations for this year's 32nd Annual Movieguide Awards! Plus, the drama filled T.V. series "County Rescue" was also recognized in several notable categories.

Yearly, the mission behind the MovieGuide® Awards is to "honor movies, television, and streaming content that promotes inspiring and positive interactions, morals and values, and Biblical teachings."

Great American Family fits perfectly into that mold as the network and their streaming platform, Great American Pure Flix "features original Christmas movies, rom-coms and classic (and new!) series that celebrate faith, family, and country."

Great American Family Weekend Christmas Movie Marathon - Do You Agree with the Rankings?

image via: Great American Media

Great American Family is currently airing their weekend marathon of 2024 Christmas movies - ranked by the votes of viewers.

I previously mentioned this marathon in my last post, but I've been seeing lots of comments about this on social media, so I wanted to hop on here and share my take on it, as well. (see below schedule)

Saturday, December 28, 2024
(times below in Eastern Standard Time)

18. Christmas in Scotland – 10am
17. Get Him Back for Christmas – 12pm
16. Christmas by Candlelight – 2pm
15. Tails of Christmas – 4pm
14. Christmas Wreaths and Ribbons – 6pm
13. A Royal Christmas Ballet – 8pm
12. Once Upon a Christmas Wish – 10pm

Sunday, December 29, 2024

11. A Christmas Castle Proposal – 12am
10. A Cozy Christmas Quilt – 2am
9. Coupled Up for Christmas – 4am
8. I Heard the Bells – 6am
7. Let it Snow – 8am

4. A Cinderella Christmas Ball – 2pm
3. Home Sweet Christmas – 4pm
2. Christmas Under the Northern Lights – 6pm
1. A Christmas Less Traveled - 8pm

I know Great American Family was trying to do a fun movie event with this; however, based on what I'm seeing on social media, it seems many fans are disappointed with the results, as I am. Some of the results feel more like a popularity contest, than what movie is actually best.

Personally, I love Great American Family and the scripture messages in the commercial breaks, but I think it's rather harsh to reveal the lineup of movies worst to best like this, from 18 to 1. I can only imagine those who came in last place must feel somewhat discouraged by their placement.

Yes, I do the It's a Wonderful Movie Awards each year, but I only reveal the top three favorites from each category. I never reveal which movie received the least votes, as I would never want to hurt the actors and writers involved.

I've seen many commenters say that Get Him Back for Christmas and Once Upon a Christmas Wish belonged at the top of the list, and I wholeheartedly agree.

Here's a sampling of comments I've seen...

"I can’t believe Get Him Back for Christmas is #17! What is wrong with you people!? That was the best movie of the season!! Unbelievable 😑" ~Nicole

"Loved your movies this year but totally disagree with rankings of best - Get him back was one of the best!!" ~Sharman

"I Heard the Bells should be #1! This movie was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen!!!" ~Vicki

"I think both "Get Him Back for Christmas" and "Once Upon a Christmas Wish" should be listed higher on the Countdown - I really enjoyed both movies! πŸŽ„πŸŽ„" ~Donna

"Get him Back for Christmas should have been higher on the list. It was a cute movie and I love the PenaVegas!" ~Robi

"Don’t agree with order." ~Judy

"Get Him Back For Christmas and Once Upon a Christmas Wish should be at the top! Way to go Great American Family welcoming these new actors to your channel and placing their movies so low on the list. Let it Snow should not even be on it and others that are old that you all bought from streaming just to fill the spots each weekend." ~Holly

"I absolutely loved Get Him Back for Christmas - was in my top 5. So disappointed to see it at 17. Wow. Even the supporting cast was awesome" ~Angela

"Loved all the Christmas movies and loved the messages in them. Another great year. Thanks GAF! You do an Amazing job every year and I can't wait to see what's in store in the New Year & next Christmas!❤️" ~Mildred

"A little confused on these rankings so far! I’ve been watching GAF’s movies since year 1 and “Get Him Back for Christmas” was one of the best movies yet of any year. Surprised it’s not #1, being that it had the most engagement in the comments from any premiere this year." ~Maria

"Unreal that Get Him Back for Christmas was #17! This was by far the best movie in my opinion and the highest ranked movie on IMDB out of all the Great American Christmas movies this year." ~Michael

Which Great American Family Christmas movie was your favorite?

Do you agree with these rankings? What is your feel of the 2024 GAF Christmas movies overall?

Candace Cameron Bure Shares Upcoming Filming News With Great American Family, Why She Left Hallmark, Christmas and More ➤➤

Last night, Candace Cameron Bure did a special Q&A with her Instagram followers and revealed some exciting news—she will have several movie projects coming up with Great American Family!

In the first (film-related) question, someone asked: "Are you working on any new projects?"

Candace responded with, "Yes!! I have mystery movies coming out in the Fall on Great American Family Channel called The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries."

I couldn't help from noticing she said MOVIES, which must mean the network will be airing at least two of these new Ainsley McGregor mysteries this Fall!!

Also, to the same question, "Are you working on any new projects?", Candace posted this response, "I also have a new Christmas movie premiering in November on Great American Family Channel called A Christmas Less Traveled.

Of course, we are already aware of this Christmas movie project
since GFAM officially announced it in a press release on April 17th. I still couldn't resist resharing her Christmas movie news!

In another question, someone asked, "Why did you leave Hallmark?"

Candace's response was thoughtful and I hope it enlightens those who have been wondering... "It wasn't so much leaving as it was about an opportunity to grow a new network that puts faith and family at the forefront of its content. I'm very proud of the work I did at Hallmark for 15 years and love all my friends there 😊.

Again, to the same question, "Are you working on any new projects?", Candace shared another response, "Also prepping to shoot two more films for Great American Family Channel in the Summer."

Wow! That is great news! We can only guess, at this point, what these "two more films for Great American Family" might be! Could both be more Ainsley McGregor mysteries, a second Christmas movie, or perhaps, a romantic comedy? Candace has yet to do a romantic comedy for the network, outside of the Christmas movie season.

If you'd like to share a guess, please do so in comments below.

In Podcast news, Candace shared, "Also, Season 7 of the @CandaceCameronBurePodcast starts next week!!! Lots of Surprises!!!!"

For those of you who may have been wondering about Candace's clothing line with QVC, her DaySpring products, etc...

Candace's answer to this question was- "God said it's a new season in partnerships! I'm working on so much- some that will be new and some that will feel familiar 😊. I can't wait to share them when the time is right."

Looks like we will have to wait a little longer to learn more details on these new business adventures!

And I saved the best for last, as Candace spoke openly about her faith and commitment to The Lord.

"Have you seen the goodness of God today," one follower asked.

Candace revealed, "I share time in God's word every day. I see His goodness, joy, sovereignty, grace, mercy, holiness, and love every day I read the Holy Bible. I look for His character in every passage. Every page. Every chapter. Every book."

Candace also posted this delightful, uplifting scripture, "Happy is the person who fears the LORD, taking great delight in his commands." Psalm 112:1

Amen to that! I always find my true joy, peace, and strength in God and His Word!

I hope you enjoyed this special Q&A with Candace Cameron Bure! It's always great fun to see so many actors and actresses sharing upcoming movie projects on social media, and I wish I could share them all, but there's simply not enough time in the day. However, I do look forward to sharing more news on movies as they are officially announced!

Stay tuned, everyone!
Blessings on your day!

Press Release:

GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY
ANNOUNCES PRODUCTION WRAP ON
‘A CHRISTMAS LESS TRAVELED,’
STARRING
CANDACE CAMERON BURE
AND ERIC JOHNSON,
PART OF
GREAT AMERICAN CHRISTMAS
2024

NEW YORK, NY – April 15, 2024 – Great American Family announced it has completed production on what is sure to be one of the most anticipated new holiday films of the season – A Christmas Less Traveled, starring Candace Cameron Bure (My Christmas Hero, A Christmas Present) and Eric Johnson (Call Me Mrs. Miracle, “Flash Gordon”) which premieres this November as part of Great American Christmas 2024.

In A Christmas Less Traveled, “The Dine and Dash” diner has a stack of mounting unpaid bills, forcing its owner, Desi (Bure) to sell her beloved, mint condition, cherry red 1964 Ford F-100, a gift from her deceased father. As Desi visits the vintage truck one last time, she discovers a recorded message from her dad on an old audio cassette. Desi’s Dad’s voice sends her and “Old Red” out to retrace her family’s most memorable moments one last time. Just as the journey begins, Desi meets Greyson (Johnson) who offers her a generous payment in exchange for a ride to “close the most important deal” of his life. Little do Desi and Greyson realize the less traveled road will reveal more about each of them than they could have ever known.

“Filmmakers have been inspired by road trips for as long as movies have been made,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media. “In A Christmas Less Traveled, viewers will go on a scenic journey with our characters to celebrate Christmas in communities and with acquaintances, treasuring every heartfelt moment of discovery or remembrance in a vintage vehicle that seems to magically know all the right places to stop,” Abbott concluded.

A Christmas Less Travelled gently challenges us to truly embrace every moment we share with our families, friends and loved ones. It reminds us that forgiving ourselves and others is the pathway to set ourselves free,” added Executive producer and CandyRock Entertainment CEO Candace Cameron Bure.

A Christmas Less Travelled is a Syrup Studios production in association with Candy Rock Entertainment being presented on Great American Family network under the Candace Cameron Bure presents banner. Costa Vassos Produces and Heather Hawthorn-Doyle directs a screenplay by Masey McClain, Justin D. James & Taylor Kalupa. Executive producers include Candace Cameron Bure, Jeffery Brooks, Ford Englerth, Eric Jarboe, Holly A. Hines, Gerald Webb, Heather Hawthorn-Doyle, and Trevor McWhinney. Supervising producers include Catherine Kretz, Michael Shepard, and Jonathan Shore with Doran S. Chandler and Trudi Thorwaldson as Associate producers.
