More hope and heart are coming! Hallmark has just announced a brand-new prequel series called "Hope Valley: 1874," and fans of "When Calls the Heart" have so much to be excited about!
Premiering in March 2026 on Hallmark+, the eight-part series will take viewers back to the earliest days of the community that would one day grow into beloved Hope Valley, exploring faith, courage, and the joy of building a life together from the ground up.
The series stars Bethany Joy Lenz as Rebecca Clarke, a devoted mother whose journey from Chicago to the Western Canadian frontier becomes a beautiful story of trust, community, and new beginnings.
Alongside her are Benjamin Ayres and Jill Hennessy, portraying characters whose strength and friendship bring warmth and encouragement to every scene.
"Hope Valley: 1874" promises to be a heartfelt celebration of hope and resilience. I love the way God brings people together even in the most rugged of places.
I'm personally looking forward to this series with much joy (love Bethany Joy Lenz!) and anticipation!

The new show also stars Firefly Lane's Roan Curtis as Hattie’s daughter, Olivia, & Lachlan Quarmby (from Hallmark's popular three-part event series earlier this year, Providence Falls) as Constable Alexander Vaughn, one of the first members of the newly created Royal Canadian Mounted Police
ReplyDeleteExecutive producer Brian Bird explained the name change in a production blog released around season 2. "We got back to the core idea of this series — the idea that Michael Landon Jr., & I had from the beginning: This needs to be a show about hope," he wrote. "Hope and love are an act of the will. That is the Coal/Hope Valley."
ReplyDeleteThe town of Hope Valley was originally named Coal Valley, & that didn't change until the second season of When Calls the Heart, which was set around 1910 & aired in 2015. The new series is set several decades before that — & before the massive explosion near the beginning of the original series that killed at least 45 miners.
This is great but I hope When Calls the Heart keeps going beyond season 14.
