Hallmark announces today via Deadline: "Hallmark Greenlights Limited Holiday Series Starring Mae Whitman, Mary McDonnell & Jane Seymour"
You may recognize Mae Whitman, as the young actress in Hallmark Hall of Fame's "A Season for Miracles" (pictured above). In this 1999 holiday film, young Mae plays a little girl who has faced a challenging upbringing but is beginning to embrace the idea of angels and that anything is possible.
According to the Deadline article released today, this new Hallmark TV series, "12 Dates of Christmas," starring Mae Whitman, is based on the book of the same name by Jenni Bayliss, and will have 6 episodes premiere on the Hallmark Channel and stream the next day on Hallmark+.
Hallmark's storyline for the series is as follows, per Deadline: "...the limited series follows Saville Row textile pattern designer Kate (Mae Whitman), who lives in the quaint village of Blexford, England next door to her father Mac (Nathaniel Parker), who is long-divorced from Kate’s mother Delilah (Mary McDonnell), a globe-trotting American always on an adventure. When not at work, Kate looks after Mac, who’s recovering from a motorbike accident and is inclined to spend his days sitting in his recliner."
"Unbeknownst to Kate, her best friend Laura (Lucy Eaton) signs her up for The 12 Dates of Christmas – a holiday-themed matchmaking program in the days leading up to the holiday featuring carefully curated, yuletide dating experiences, in an attempt to get Kate out of her rut. Lovingly coerced by Laura and longtime best friend Callum (Julian Morris), a reluctant Kate ultimately gets into the spirit of the program and is caught off guard when she meets someone (Toby Sandeman) who reinvigorates her zest for life. But when Delilah unexpectedly shows up on her doorstep – literally – Kate and Mac’s life and holiday season get upended. Meanwhile, Mac may be embarking on his own romance with local Evelyn (Jane Seymour), a widow who slowly helps him step outside the confines of his house and open his heart. As Kate wends her way through the 12 dates, she takes a circuitous route to romance while also making some important discoveries about herself."
I find this series intriguing, and I’d really like to hear your opinions in the comments below. I've always believed that Mae was an exceptional child actress. "A Season for Miracles" remains one of my favorite films that I make sure to watch at least once every Christmas. It's wonderful to see her back on Hallmark for this new series!
Jane Seymour is back on Hallmark since she worked with Lacey Chabert
ReplyDeleteI'd nearly forgotten she was in that movie!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an intriguing show. -Maria
Oh, wow, 1999! I can’t tell you how much I love the movie, A Season for Miracles. I always look for it every year, too, just like you.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see Mae finally back on Hallmark. I hope this is just the beginning. Christie
Looking at her IMDB page most of her acting is doing voice overs in cartoons. Way to go hallmark .
ReplyDeleteI saw the PR post yesterday, but I didn't realize she was the same actress.
ReplyDeleteSo I watched A Season of Miracles for the first time this past Christmas season I believe, I was teared up throughout the movie. I normally don’t choose to watch movies that are sad and reveal that in the synopsis and my husband was like “turn it off if your crying” and I’m like “no I need to see how this ends!” Lol, I really enjoyed it!
