UPtv is bringing viewers the hit family police drama ‘Hudson & Rex.’
In this series, detective Charlie Hudson (John Reardon) teams up with his “highly trained law enforcement animal,” German Shepherd dog named Rex, for action-packed adventures and crime-solving mysteries.
Watch this new series starting TONIGHT, Thursday, January 4th at 8 PM ET on UPtv, with the Season 5 premiere.
If you are interested in catching the previous seasons of ‘Hudson & Rex,’ those can be streamed via UP Faith & Family with a 7-day free trial and subscription.
Please note:
I have not personally seen this show, but I've been interested in it for quite some time. I'm delighted to see UPtv is bringing this series to their network, but I kinda wish they had started with season 1. I'm thinking of purchasing their streaming service UP Faith & Family for a couple months or more so I can watch the first four seasons while recording the fifth.
I would love to know... have any of you seen ‘Hudson & Rex’? Any thoughts or opinions on the series would be most welcome in comments below.
Reviews for ‘Hudson & Rex’ I've read online:

"I love detective shows especially the ones that are a little lighter. Rex is absolutely adorable and makes the perfect partner." ~Laura

"Loved watching this with our 10 yr old and 12 yr old. We have German Shepherd dogs so we loved Rex!!" ~Tricia

Is there a way to check to see if the earlier seasons are available elsewhere for free? I have Philo. I think that's what it's called. I will try seeing if I can get earlier seasons there too.

In my opinion, it’s worth watching the previous seasons. It takes a couple of seasons to get truly good, but it’s nice to see the characters develop and their bonds strengthen. Rex is the best boy, of course, and his partnership with Charlie is adorable. It’s a light crime show, perfect for families.
ReplyDeleteI have watched the first few seasons of Hudson & Rex since it has aired in Canada, but haven’t yet watched Season 5 or 6. It is pretty clean and nothing really visually gory (as the topics usually involves investigations of criminal activity like murder), so I can relax if my kids join in to watch. Rex, the German shepherd is really cute and the scenery (filmed mainly in St John’s, Newfoundland) is lovely. Reminds me a little of a cross between Without a Trace & Criminal Minds. Johnny Reardon’s character is likeable & over time it is revealed that his character is divorced. Meghan Ory (Reardon’s wife) even guest starred in a couple episodes.
ReplyDeleteTaxqueen, Thank you so much for these details on Hudson & Rex. I'm glad to know you've enjoyed watching it with your children.

I haven’t seen Hudson & Rex: Season 1 to Seasons 4. I haven’t watch full episodes but it’s short clips of Hudson & Rex on YT
ReplyDeleteIt’s Hudson & Rex: Seasons 5 on UPTV at 8pm ET/5pm PT
Never heard of or saw this show, but I’m with you Net, I would love some opinions:m/reviews from others so that I can decide if I’ll watch or pass. I absolutely love crime/detective shows and have watched for years (Law & Order SVU binge watcher here) but around Covid I stopped watching the news and a lot of shows that were just putting a lot of stress and fear into the world. The storylines on Law & Order were so morbid and graphic that I just had to stop watching it so Iv been on the hunt for a lighter show that focuses on mystery/detectives but maybe has coke comedy in there…don’t know if that exists lol
ReplyDeleteOne that I watch here and there is Murder She Wrote as I love Angela Lansbury, some were episodes I passed on but I enjoyed alot of them too, it’s hit and miss when it’s on Hallmark late at night. If this show is recommended I’ll give it a try!

I've never seen it, but I've heard good things about it.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this show before. I have seen the Hallmark movies that John Reardon has been in and I tend to not want to watch again as he seems a bit stiff in each of the characters. Now I will state again, that I have not watch this show so it might be different.
