Karen shared this review for Candy Coated Christmas:
π"I watched a movie called Candy Coated Christmas. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, in case you want to add it to this list of movies, that unfortunately due to one phrase, it is not family friendly. A younger girl is asking the main female character if she has any boyfriends back home. The main female character replies that she doesn't and explains why...to which the younger girl asks "Have you tried girls". There is no reply to this question...the topic totally changes. It's like this phrase has just been thrown in there to reach their quota or something. Otherwise, the rest of the movie is ok." ~Karen
I hope this review is helpful for you. Candy Coated Christmas stars Molly McCook (Last Man Standing), Aaron O'Connell (12 Gifts of Christmas, Made for Each Other), and Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman, Food Network).
** Hallmark Drama has a little Christmas, too!
-- On Saturday, see What I Did for Love at 1pm/12c.
-- On Sunday, see The Color of Rain at 5pm/4c. (Note: There's only a short Christmas scene at the end of the movie, but it's still quite a touching film.)
** Frndly Streaming -
-- For those of you who have the Frndly Streaming service, in addition to watching the Hallmark Channel's Christmas in July, you can also watch Hallmark's Christmas in July movies on demand, plus A Very Happy & Friends Yule Log and the adorable Christmas cartoon, Jingle and Bell's Christmas Star!

I hope you all have a wonderful, sunshiny weekend. Please do keep cool out there, if you can, in this intense Summer heat. It's going to be severely hot across many states this weekend.
I'm going to soak up a little sunshine and try to catch as much as I can of Great American Family's last few days of Christmas 24/7. Plus, I'm going to be sure to record the new *Christmas in July* movie on the Hallmark Channel. I may have mentioned a time or two that I'm a big fan of Corey Sevier - so I'm hoping this is a good one!

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Vanessa Lengies' last Christmas movie for Hallmark and generally like Corey Sevier but I'm always dubious about movies where there is a time element involved - they are very hit or miss and sometimes hard to make sense of.

ReplyDeleteI am the Anonymous poster who just watched “First Christmas” on 07/17/23. I wish I hadn’t mentioned it to you and thus you the blog followers as there is a LGBTQ character in the movie. I didn’t realize it until about 3/4 of the way through when it became very clear, but I could have missed something earlier. Unfortunately. it then became a sub plot in the movie which is so sad because I really liked it up to that point and thought the movie had a good message. Boy, was I WRONG! My sincerest apologies! :(
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, Please don't feel bad. You had no way of knowing. I appreciated you sharing with us, and I know others who may have recorded this, will be grateful you shared this content information, as well.

ReplyDeleteHeven't seen Take Me Back For Christmas yet and ratings tend to be higher in the first few days as fans vote immediately but it seems generally that this movie has gone down pretty well - florence
Aw! My husband and I really enjoyed "Take me back for Christmas". It was sweet, heartfelt and enjoyable. Yes, it had a time travel plotline which has been used countless times. But there was something about this movie that drew me in and had my husband and I hooked. Plus, there were several touching scenes and a couple of scenes that made us both cry like babies! Unfortunately we both could relate to two scenes but I won't spoil it for those who haven't watched it yet. I have become a fan of Vanessa, recently, and she was fantastic in this movie. Seriously, I felt every emotion, along with her. Anyway, I will watch this one again, at some point.
ReplyDeleteI watched Take Me Back for Christmas, and it was nearly the same as Dream of Christmas, and also similar to Family for Christmas, but more like Dream of Christmas. I dont know, it was really dumb in places, and I feel the actress was trying way to hard to be funny.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I found myself wishing Corey Sevier didnt take VL character back. She was pushy and annoying.
And what was up with the restaurant, they had to close and lay off people cause his farmer couldn't give him the food? Not that I dont think that can happen, but I would think you would buy food somewhere else asap and not have to lay people off??? Or maybe not put all your eggs in one basket. But he was closed and had to lay off people, but he could suddenly cook stuff for her? It seems he and she should be more concerned that he can get his employees back than help her multimillion $ company make more money?? This is where i say this move was plain dumb.
Now the thing that got me, almost in years, was when she realized she could go back to her life, but her mom wouldn't be there, that was so sad. As that seemed to be what kept her stuck in the past in her life. They wrapped up the movie well, I just thought it was over the top with the girl, and the entire premise of him having to not only close but lay off everyone???
Sabrina
I don’t know where to post this: I searched for the following movie, and I believe I found a 2015 post which talked about not knowing when it would premiere in the USA. I have some questions. When did it premiere in the USA? Theatre or TV first? If theatre, TV Premiere Date? Original TV Network? Thanks so very much!
ReplyDeleteCould you give me the title of the movie or some details on it. I'll try to help, if I can. :)
DeleteBlessings, Net
Anonymous, are you talking about the Abby Brooks Mysteries?? If so, I had trouble finding it as well.
DeleteOh, my goodness! I am so embarrassed! That kind of error is so unlike me! I am glad that I am anonymous. I was talking about the film “”A Christmas Tail”, but I now know it is a Direct-to-TV movie. So, if anyone knows the answers to the TV questions, that would be great. Sorry and Thank You!
DeleteI absolutely loved "Take Me Back for Christmas" it was a tear jerker for sure, I was a mess by the end of the movie...in a good way! It was sweet and those 2 have amazing chemistry! I found it to be family friendly but I would caution that maybe little ones should not be watching it, it definitely has a more grown up theme.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Take Me Back for Christmas. It was family friendly, and I thought both actors did a great job. I thought it was really cute overall.
ReplyDeleteI also watched Take me back for Christmas on Saturday, it was superb! -Maria

ReplyDeleteThe Creator Shared That Production Began on Time, But Some Stars Will Delay Filming Their Roles
Season 10 is already completed and ready to premiere on July 30 at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific. So there’s no worry about that season being deleted. But season 11 might be a different story.
In February, Hallmark announced through ET Online that the show had been officially renewed for season 11, even before season 10 aired. But filming is beginning in Canada right as the SAG-AFTRA strike launches (and the writers strike continues.)
Brian Bird, creator and an executive producer for “When Calls the Heart,” posted on Facebook to let fans know that they would still begin filming on Monday, July 17, as planned. The only difference is that not all the actors will be able to take part. He said this is part of a contingency plan that will allow filming to begin on time even during the strike.
He wrote: “Our intrepid and fearless Vancouver production team have prepared an extraordinary contingency plan that will honor the WGA and SAG/ACTRA strikes, while at the same time keeping the streets of Hope Valley very busy in the weeks and months ahead. On Monday, July 17, the production of Season 11 BEGINS with all of our fine Canadian writers and cast- and-crew-members back to work while we wait for a peaceful resolution of these labor talks.”
But, Bird acknowledged that any U.S. actors (and members of SAG-AFTRA) won’t be able to be present and they’ll have to film sometime later. He wrote that the Canadian cast and crew will be awaiting “the day our US writers and actors are allowed to return.”
He added that once season 11 premieres, viewers won’t be able to tell there was a delay.
“And when you experience Season 11 in 2024, through the seamless magic of the filmmaking and storytelling process, it will make it seem like they were there all along,” he wrote.
He Said They Still Expect Season 11 to Premiere in 2024
While Bird noted that they still expect season 11 to premiere in 2024, he didn’t promise fans that there wouldn’t be any delay. What happens in the future will be dependent on how long the strike lasts, and American actors and writers are required to stay away from production.
Bird wrote: “We can’t wait for you to see Season 11 in 2024… and Lord-willing, seasons 12 through 20!”
The good news is that it’s very likely season 11 will premiere on schedule. However, if negotiations don’t proceed and the strike is forced to continue for a long period of time, it might affect the 2024 premiere date.
Thank you for sharing. I read that posting from Producer Brian Bird a few days ago, and it sounds like it's going to be quite a puzzle for the poor editing department to put all of these pieces together. I really feel bad for them.
DeleteWCTH has certainly faced many challenges throughout the seasons - so it's no surprise, really, that they would face another. Hopefully, they can come to some sort of reconciliation sooner than later and end the strike.
Blessings, Net

Abigail, Thank you for posting this and for all the great research. Wow! That is interesting that most of the cast members are Canadian. Only 4 main stars are Americans. That will surely be some interesting work for the editing department. I'm sure it's quite a puzzle trying to figure out how to do various crowd scenes without these four actors participating. If the strike goes on for 6 months or more, it may be some time before we see Season 11. I wonder if they could seek out some sort of waiver to continue filming with all of the actors involved.
DeleteAgain, thank you, Abigail! That was so thoughtful of you to look this information up and share with us. :)
Blessings, Net
I was happy too, Net! The only ones that seem to be a real issue would be Elizabeth and Bill. Maybe she'll be visiting family in Hamilton or on her honeymoon. And Bill was having some health problems, maybe he'll be in Union City.
DeleteHopefully this won't last too long. We can make do for a break, but this must be frustrating to the actors.
Review: Take Me Back to Christmas -
ReplyDeleteFamily-friendly? Yes -
Keeper? Yes -
This was a very enjoyable movie, primarily because of Vanessa. She shows a range of emotions, from silly to serious, and she pulls it off wonderfully. I feel this was her best performance, by far. And there was good chemistry between her and Corey - in the "playful" scenes, you could tell that these two were having a blast together. Regarding the story, yes, it is very similar to A Dream of Christmas (as someone pointed out, instead of a magic star, you have a magic bell), but while in A Dream of Christmas Nikki's character wanted to go back to her old life, here Vanessa is hoping to work things out in her new life. And yes, be ready to shed a tear or two. By far, I feel this is the best of the three new movies premiered to date.
