Our Dream Wedding

Original Air Date: June 5, 2022

Starring: Rachel Hendrix, James Austin Kerr

Storyline via UPtv: Commitment-shy Haley is as anti-marriage as it gets, but when she tries on her grandma’s ‘magical’ wedding veil, she’s transported to her future, where she and long-term boyfriend Scott are happily married with two beautiful children. Shocked, Haley tracks down her family to make sense of her vision and her view on love is changed for good.

Movie Review:

πŸ’ "Found an early download of 'Our Dream Wedding', and it is so sweet! I'm sure you'll all love it." :) -Maria

πŸ’ "Our Dream Wedding - This has to be hands down one of THE best movies in a very long time! It was familiar yet with a twist that kept it new and interesting. I'm glad Natalie had her grandmother in the alternate reality to help her. I was so happy when she realized that her and Scott were meant to be. This is better than any Hallmark movie this year IMO!!! I'm still smiling." ~Anonymous

The Engagement Backup

Original Air Date: June 12, 2022

Starring: Stars Elise Gatien, Preston Vanderslice, and Beverley Elliott

Storyline via UPtv: When historian Luna is entrusted with the legacy of her late father’s nautical museum, she pretends that she’s engaged to Jackson, the infamous son of a tech mogul, in order to save it. As she discovers that there's actually more to Jackson, will she broaden her romantic horizons as well as her professional ones?

Movie Review:

πŸ’ "The Engagement Backup is pretty funny, and also quite charming." -Maria

πŸ’ "The Engagement Backup is a family-friendly UP movie. I could sense a spark between the middle class working woman, Luna, with the spoiled rich guy, Jackson, who works for his father's tech company. Both are struggling in their business affairs and decide pretending to be involved publicly would be beneficial to them both. There's a lot of tension and attraction between these two as they try to convince the public and their families of their engagement. I wasn't crazy about all of the lying about their fake relationship, but eventually, it affected Luna and Jackson, too. Overall, it's a sweet, enjoyable story." ~Net

A Romance Wedding

Original Air Date: June 19, 2022

Starring: Stars Morgan Kohan, Drew Nelson

Storyline via UPtv: Zoe Davis is a successful and highly driven wedding planner in the big city. When her father asks her for help at the family cafΓ©, she happily drives back to her cozy hometown of Romance, Oregon. Little does she know her mom has already hired Will, an aspiring food chef, to help… Zoe’s childhood sweetheart! Tensions rise between Zoe and Will, but so does the chemistry.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ’ "I found a way to watch 'A Romance Wedding' early, and I really enjoyed it! And I'm proud to say that it's also clean. :) I'm sure you'll all enjoy it when it airs." –Maria

πŸ’ "A Romance Wedding (may contain spoilers) Morgan Kohan and Drew Nelson made two movies together in quick succession. A Whirlwind Wedding was aired last year and it became a firm favourite of mine and although this was actually the first movie it has only recently surfaced. I have to say that this just didn't have the same impact as Whirlwind. It was always going to be hard to top that and it may be unfortunate that I had seen A Whirlwind Wedding first as it was inevitable that I would be bound to make comparisons. I didn't feel the same chemistry between Morgan (Zoe) and Will (Nick) - in fact although there was never any suggestion of anything between them Zoe almost seemed more comfortable in the presence of her business partner Nick in their Wedding Planner venture. I found that both Nick and Zoe's old schoolmate Amanda who had it in for her were both slightly over the top and overacted. The plot was a bit hard to understand too. Will's parent's old farmhouse which Zoe and Nick were trying to buy to set up a branch of their business in her hometown had been on the market for a year so why would Nick not want to sell it to an innocuous bona fide enterprise which could bring more business and prosperity to the town and why would the townspeople want to keep outsiders away? Strange. Despite these seeming downsides I actually quite enjoyed the movie overall, certainly much more than many of Hallmark's nowadays and it did hold my interest. I also enjoyed seeing Lochlyn Munro who played Zoe's father on air again. My benchmark is whether I would watch a movie again and I think I wouldn't mind watching this again at some future date." - Florence's rating 6.5

πŸ’ "A Romance Wedding – is sweet, simplistic, and family-friendly. Zoe Davis is a wedding planner and Will Mason is a chef, and frankly, I didn’t feel much of a sizzle between them. (And yes, I know they are a couple in real-life.) Honestly, their romance was very low-key, but they did have a history. I didn’t like how Will treated Zoe so coldly in the beginning, but I think he was trying to protect his heart, fearing she would leave town and break it all over again. Eventually, I liked when he warmed up to the idea of her staying. Overall, the movie is predictable, but still enjoyable. It would make for a good, lighthearted afternoon watch." ~Net

Planning on Forever

Original Air Date: June 26, 2022

Starring: Stars Emily Tennant, Alec Santos

Storyline via UPtv: Emma, an events planner with no time for love, agrees to plan her sister's wedding - in just six weeks - with the help of Liam, who Emma had a disastrous blind date with years ago.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ’ "I thought Planning On Forever was cute and family friendly." ~Allie B

πŸ’ "Planning on Forever was very sweet!" –Maria

πŸ’ "Planning on Forever is a charming romantic-comedy, very family-friendly! It’s a delightful movie that expresses the importance of second chances. Emma and Liam make a cute stand-in couple for the bride & groom, as they plan their wedding day when they are called away suddenly for business. I loved Liam’s bicycle shop, Emma’s caring mother, and the gentle romance." ~Net

πŸ’ "Planning On Forever They say every picture tells a story - but does it? I had looked at the cover for this movie but something seemed off about it - maybe it was the fact they had their backs to each other and to be honest I did think Liam (Alec Santos) was a bit grim-looking. In the event however I thought Emma (Emily Tennant) and Liam made a great couple with superb chemistry. The two had had a disastrous blind date previously but yet you could immediately feel the connection between them when they re-met as maid-of-honour and best man at Emma's sister's and Liam's best friend's wedding. The plot was well constructed - it was lovely to see the warmth and affection blossom between them as they went through the many aspects of planning the ceremony with ,of couse, all the road blocks thrown in the way Movies about wedding planners do seem to be rather overdone at the minute but this was one of the better ones with many innovations and unique and intersting plot devices such as the pair being a "stand-in couple" when the bride and bridegroom were called away on urgent business and Liam owning a bicycle shop with a particular interest in vintage machines. Emma's mother was an interesting and larger than life character. I particularly liked the ending - I thought Alec Santos was superb - I could almost feel his hurt and bewilderment when the expected misunderstanding occured! A great little movie from UPtv and Reel One Entertainment." Florence's rating - 8

  2. A romance Wedding might be the worst name I've ever seen for one of these movies, None of these look that good.

  3. It's changed days when you're more excited by an announcement from UPtv than Hallmark

I'm thrilled by this and let out a big cheer this morning when I saw it.

I had to check twice it really was A Romance Wedding for I have been wanting to see this ever since A Whirlwind Wedding last year which had the same leads and which hit a sweet spot with me.

I didn't think this would appear as it's from back in 2020 - there are some reviews for it on IMDb and one mentions they have seen it on TV a few times so some TV company had bought it previously.

The reviews aren't encouraging so I wonder how I will react to it?

I do love the plot of "lovers reunited" and Lochlyn Munro is listed in the cast, haven't seen him for a while now.

    Can't wait!

Happy with The Engagement Back-Up as it was one of the movies on mu UP wish list for June!

Not sure about Planning On Forever but I'm pretty sure I've seen Our Dream Wedding somewhere before - I can remember feeling empathy with the male lead.

This a brilliant line-up for June from UP it's just made my weekend!

Thanks for the info, Net - Florence

Up is awesome. So many good movies. I love the choice it provides. Plus, so many stars don't have exclusive deals and can be on more than one network. The possibilities are endless.

  9. No word yet from UPtv about July - I'm not hopeful because last year they only aired one new Rom.Com for that month.

One movie I was hoping would turn up was Meet Me In New York wirh Brooke Nevin and Corey Sevier but it seems to have been shown by some other Channel in the US as there are reviews on IMDB.

It doesn't seem to have been popular though - it only has a score of 5.7 - Florence
