UPtv has the rom-com movie premiere...

Story-line via UPtv: Successful podcast host Samantha Desouza has a passion for music and an aversion to romance after a recent bad experience. Just when her show is thriving, she is thrown in the deep end by her boss and re-assigned to host Heartwaves, a feel-good love songs show with a segment that reunites lost loves. Despite her initial lack of enthusiasm, her first caller is the charismatic and charming Jake who has a problem she’s determined to help solve. What they didn’t expect was to fall for each other in the process. Now Sam must decide whether to shy away from love again, or to be a little more spontaneous and follow her heart…

Movie Review:

"Calling for Love- This is a lighthearted, fun movie; the characters are sometimes quirky, but likeable. The premise is a little outlandish, however it's heartfelt. Jake is a mechanic/hopeless romantic, who meets a girl named Becky while fixing her car. He asks her out and she gives him her number, but when his phone is destroyed, the number is lost and he assumes his chance at seeing her again is also lost forever, but Jake turns to a popular podcast to help him find what he believes is his lost love. Podcast host Samantha Desouza is a bit cynical about love since her last break up, but she’s there to help Jake in his search for Becky. Along the way, Jake and Samantha begin to have feelings (surprise!) for one another, but there are several bumps in the road… including Becky! This rom-com is family friendly." ~ Net

Please Note: I have not pre-screened the other new movies. If you would like to post a review on whether these movies are family-friendly, please share in comments.

  1. So Welcome To Great American Christmas "Encores immediately afterwards at 10p.m" - this means it must be a 2 hour show and therefore there will be a clash with the Hallmark preview.

I'm not taking any sides but I'm just so sad that this looks to be turning into a bruising battle and in this case it's obvious who's to blame.

I suppose this is the way of TV now but as usual it is the viewer who loses out - Florence

    1. Yes, the Welcome To Great American Christmas preview show is 2 hours. The Christmas previews are airing simultaneously for the last hour of GAC Family and the first hour of Hallmark's. GAC, however will have 2 repeat showings on Sunday, too, and possibly more after that.

Hopefully, most people are able to record both - or record one while watching the other.

I'm sure they are going to be looking closely at ratings during this Christmas season.

  2. Definitely most excited for Shane and Oliver's wedding on Signed, Sealed, Delivered and the preview show on GAC Family. Oh and the season finale of Chesapeake Shores. I have really enjoyed this season! I hate to say that as I love Jesse Metcalfe, but the change of pace has been nice.

    1. Jennifer R, I totally agree! First - with SSD and GAC Family and with Chesapeake Shores, too! As for CS, like you, I loved Jesse and it wasn't him - it was the way they wrote his story and left us with the back and forth. That was exhausting. I don't blame him one bit for leaving due to the storyline. As for the finale, I can't begin to imagine how they are going to wrap up several stories in one last episode. Either there will be a season 6, or I'm wondering if there's going to be a lot of stories left unfinished.

  3. I am not sure Fall Harvest ever began. I am very disappointed in the lack of fall in the movies this season, as well as HM playing older Fall Harvest movies. Not sure why I am surprised.

Can't wait for Postables this weekend.

    1. Sabrina, So true. They started us off with Roadhouse Romance, which did authentically feel like a Fall Harvest movie with all the rustic leaves and autumn dΓ©cor, but after that, none of the movies felt like Fall, at all. Not sure why this season seems to always get slighted.

Enjoy the new Signed, Sealed, Delivered movie Sunday night! I can't wait to watch, too! :)

  4. Wow! There are a lot of good shows this weekend. I'll be setting up my DVR for the Hallmark Christmas preview and watching Great American Christmas live.

I just read that Frndly just added both GAC Family and GAC Living to their lineup. It will be available on Oct. 19th.

  8. Will there ever be another Signed Sealed Delivered Christmas movie where Rita and Norman celebrates their first Christmas as Husband and Wife and maybe Oliver and Shane celebrates their first Christmas as Husband and Wife?

  9. Net,
I have a question that maybe you (or someone on here) can answer. How do ratings and all that kind of thing work?? Do they somehow know what shows I'm watching live, or is it based on what shows I set to record on the DVR??
I have the top package on Verizon Fios TV so I can record multiple shows all at the same time while watching another. BUT.... if I want to strongly encourage Verizon to start carrying GACFamily instead of just GACLiving, OR if I want to encourage/approve/applaud GAC over Hallmark, would I be better off setting the DVR to record the GAC Christmas preview show and NOT recording the Hallmark channel (but maybe just watching Hallmark live?)?? Do you think any of what I do makes a difference somehow, or is it all just up to money and power at the executive level?

    1. Jane, I've always heard it is better to watch live for ratings than record, but of course, that's not always possible. Through our cable providers they are able to see the audience number who views each program.

As far as Nielsen ratings go... they sample somewhere between 20,000 - 40,000 homes for those numbers. We were contacted by Nielsen years ago - and filled out papers on our viewing habits. I'm sure they do it very differently now through smart-TV's and such.

Hope you enjoyed the Christmas Preview! I thought GAC Family provided wonderful clips.

      Blessings! Net

  13. “Home Sweet Home” with Natasha Bure is on GACFamily on Monday, 10/18 night. It was released last year. “Blonde Ambition” on GACLiving has now been moved to Monday, 10/25. A Couple Questions: What is that fall Hallmark movie was we waited forever for them to air? I just won’t watch the television shows below, and I know they were popular back in the day, but is anyone else surprised by the television shows GAC Family has chosen to air on weekdays (I Dream of Jeanie, Bewitched)? Maybe, they won’t air for long as I am sure they are still figuring out programming. Of course, Father Knowe Best, and I don’t know anything about Hazel. I remember watching Silver Spoons when I was young, and I recall that the main male adult character’s relationship may have been inappropriate (unwed). As a Christian, i am not sure why these channels who claim or claimed to be family-friendly insist on putting shows like Good Witch and the above on the air. Thanks!

  14. Thanks for sharing all of the updates. I'm glad the gac channels will be on Frndly. I will dvr all hallmark & Lifetime Xmas on Philo. And gac and up channel xmas on frndly. Keep them more separate and organized. I think the new top dog at gac since he left hallmark is really going to try giving his old company hallmark a good run for their money. I see quite a few actor and actresses from hallmark in gac movies this year.

  16. I enjoyed the previews on the great American Christmas special. I was excited to catch the Hallmark previews during last nights movie but extremely disappointed as they only previewed two movies which air this coming weekend, and only about 30 seconds on each movie. So we’re still waiting for titles and descriptions of 22 of the 31 new movies on Hallmark and 5 of the 9 new movies on Hallmark movies and mysteries. Not sure what is up with Hallmark. They’ve always been the first to get information out for Christmas each year.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, I'm baffled as to what is happening at Hallmark too, it's very strange.

There are several titles listed on Wikipedia and while it's likely they're right there's no guarantee of that.

Although there have been some "leaks" officially still less than half the Christmas titles have been announced.

I was hoping it would be cleared up at the weekend - it's all very odd - Florence

    2. I didn't watch any of these preview specials, but I know what you mean about Hallmark's lack of Christmas movie information. On Hallmark Channel's website, there are only fifteen movies listed for the 2021 'Countdown to Christmas' Preview. Meanwhile, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' website, there are only four movies listed for the 2021 'Miracles of Christmas' Preview. Out of these nineteen movies, nine of them have been given confirmed release dates. If this information had been announced back in August, I wouldn't think much of it. But the fact these line-ups start in a few days makes the limited amount of announcements concerning. We also still don't know the exact number of movies premiering from October 22nd to the end of the year. Maybe these line-ups aren't going to be as big as the commercials want us to believe.

      Delete
    3. Sally, I hear ya! I've been keeping a close check, too, and I keep seeing the same movies you mentioned. But I just know new info will pop up minutes after I've checked for the day. (haha!) It does seem very odd the lack of information, posters and commercials - for the movies coming up. I think there are a lot of movies left to be announced - so maybe they are just waiting to get things going. Who knows???

If you or any one here, sees anything new, please let us know! :)

      Delete
    4. I just checked Wikipedia, Hallmark Channel's website, and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' website. There are now thirty movies listed for the 2021 'Countdown to Christmas' line-up and nine movies listed for the 2021 'Miracles of Christmas' line-up. This means we end up with 39 movies total. Looking at Hallmark Channel's line-up on Wikipedia, it seems like a new movie will be airing almost every day, on top of movies being shown 24/7.

Personally, I feel Hallmark's approach to Christmas has become too much of a good thing. Because of both networks' obsession with the holiday, Hallmark is hurting their films' chances for long term success. This obsession also affects other media related projects, such as seasonal line-ups outside of the Christmas season. It feels like Hallmark is a sinking ship, with the company too proud to admit their mistakes. If I had to make a prediction, I'd say Hallmark's ratings will either stay the same as last year or take a drop in numbers.

  18. Normally the Wiki details are petty good but they're showing Gingerbread Miracle with Merritt Patterson as airing on Nov 5 while Hallmark's site is saying it is Open By Christmas with Alison Sweeney which is surely right.

    1. Florence, I've been seeing these schedule differences, too. I'm not sure why Hallmark hasn't made a statement to clarify what is right, but I think it's time to update my Christmas TV Schedule with the new dates. Leave it to Hallmark to change things around - happens every year!

  19. The GAC preview special was good. I saw several movies I think will be worth watching. The preview show felt like Hallmark had moved to GAC.

I am still enjoying SSD from last night. The Vows We Have Made took my breath away. Perfection is the only word that comes to mind. If we had one of these movies every week, it would not be enough. Oliver and Shane's wedding vows! Oh my! The lady who played Shane's mother was wonderful in her role. To hear our Lord honored, as SSD has always done, was a blessing to me. I'm so blown away by this movie; words can not describe my feelings this morning. Looking forward to comments here.

    1. kitkat, So good to hear how much you enjoyed the new SSD! Wasn't it breathtaking? I'm still taking it all in.

It would be wonderful if GAC Family could do a movie or series with faith-filled moments. I have a feeling we will see more of this in "When Hope Calls," then we ever did on Hallmark.

    1. I'm pretty sure Happy the Dog is Bill Abbott's personal dog, so that probably explains his change of channel. Perhaps there were contract problems with Hallmark that prevented GAC from using his real name, since he had been in their programming. 23. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Vows we have Made SSD movie. I was so happy and they kept the faith aspect and they even had some references to past movies/show and clips. I felt like it was perfectly normal that Oliver would be worried about Shane or any person leaving him cause so many have in his life. I love so much when Shane said "I will never leave you". The writing on this series is so good, they always bring up past stuff and dont just leave you hanging like other movies that have sequels or continuations do. The thing is Shane did try and quit, or leave twice, and she didn't cause I believe deep inside she knew she was where she should be. I remember back on From Paris with Love, how she was looking in on Oliver and Holly and saying please don't kiss her. You knew even back then how much Shane loved Oliver.

I absolutely loved the wedding vows, how they said them over each other, how beautiful they were. I know for Oliver it was hard to have faith that someone finally wont leave him, but he did and I love how at the end they were all looking at the letter they found saying they have time to go see where it belongs. I can still hold out hope for more movies. I mean I could watch forever the POstables reuniting old letters with their owners.

The POstables are forever a family. I am going to watch this movie over and over. I am actually sad Christmas movies are coming on cause i am going to miss them playing the SSD movies, but i think they may play them on Hallmark Drama during Christmas.

I didn't watch the movie live, i wanted to have time to watch and reflect on the movie and i guess i just dont want to watch anything hallmark live anymore.

Its sad, but i am not looking forward to many hallmark Christmas movies. I know i will watch some, maybe the Ms Miracle movie and CCB movie, but i decided i am not recording any, i will just see them eventually, maybe when on one day it will spark some interest.
