Graduation Cards
With Mick and Olivia in Wedding March and the O'Brien family in Chesapeake Shores, this weekend's new premieres on the Hallmark Channel are like welcoming back old friends. Hopefully, we will enjoy where these stories go. I do believe it will be nice to finally see the wedding we've all waited for in the Wedding March series, and I have a feeling there will be lots of emotion in season 5 of Chesapeake Shores, as we've been used to seeing.
Plus, Erin Cahill and Marcus Rosner (two more familiar faces) will star together in a new movie on UPtv.

I'm looking forward to watching both of the new movies this weekend. As far as Chesapeake Shores, I still don't know how I feel about Jesse Metcalfe leaving. I'll probably watch just to see how things go. Kevin (Brendan Penny) and Sarah (Jessica Sipos) are my favorite couple; I'm looking forward to seeing them together since they were married.

DeleteI am looking for to all of the premieres. Honestly, I don't really care about Jesse leaving all that much, and Trace and Abby were my least favorite couple. I just hope that they don't sneak in other things on Chesapeake Shores that they have in other Hallmark movies. Of course, that is my concern with every new thing they put out now.

DeleteI completely agree. I’m worried they will ruin it. I’m choosing to wait until the new season is over and there are complete reviews so I won’t get into it and be caught off guard or have to stop watching it and not get to finish story lines. Please don’t ruin CS!

I have loved this show since it first came on, and Trace and Abby were truly the heart of it, but now with Jesse Metcalfe leaving, it just won't be the same. He is/was such a powerful presence on the show, and as there are so many storylines happening at once, he really didn't get enough screen time, neither did the storyline. I think if Abby was going to have a new relationship, I was hoping it would be with the teacher, but it looks like that is not going to happen either. We shall see. I agree - Jesse's screen time was very little in the previous season, it's really too bad they wasted all that time with him in limbo over staying in Chesapeake Shores or going out on the road to sing. I guess that decision has finally been made, which is kinda sad. Hopefully there will be many other storylines to enjoy!

DeleteYes! Yes! Yes! Wholeheartedly agree! If you look back at every season poster of Chesapeake Shores - Abby and Trace are always featured prominently and typically, right in the middle. It just seems unreal they would have Abby move on with someone else.
Part of me wonders if they actually taped an ending with Abby and Trace getting back together. Maybe Abby explores different relationships but ends up with Trace. I'm probably totally wrong with this theory, but a girl can dream. Right?

Jesse Metcalfe recently announced that he's leaving Hallmark's “Chesapeake Shores” series sometime during the upcoming season. He later revealed that the reason he's leaving is because of the plans the series had for his character, and that he's sad Trace and Abby won't get a better resolution

When Jesse Metcalfe announced on Instagram that he was leaving the series, fans were quick to ask him why. He was quick to respond, explaining that he was leaving because he didn’t like the plans for Trace Riley’s storyline.
He added a more telling explanation, writing: “…and I didn’t like the direction my storyline was going…”
One fan requested more information, asking: “reading this comments makes me wonder were the characters ever going to end up together… 🤔 Or were you not interested in the storyline heading that way?”
Metcalfe replied: “I definitely wanted our characters to end up together! #trabby”
He told another fan that he was sad about the whole thing.

Another fan wrote: “I understand but my heart is broken… 🥺”

Some fans shared that his character was the main reason they watched. One person replied, “You will be missed by many. You were the main reason for me to even start watching Chesapeake Shore. 😢 sad you leaving but understand 😢😍”
Another person wrote: “I hate this so bad. Trace and Abby are the only reason I watch the show.”
And some fans even commented that they didn’t plan to watch anymore now that he’s leaving.
One fan wrote: “that tells us that they were going to go in the wrong direction. Sounds like you made the right choice. Now I won’t be watching the new seasons. Bad move on their part.”
Deadline originally reported that it was Metcalfe’s decision to leave the show, not Hallmark’s. His story will end in the early part of the new season. In a statement to Deadline, The Hallmark Channel said:
A new season of Hallmark Channel’s highly popular scripted series, Chesapeake Shores, is returning this summer. Jesse Metcalfe, who plays Trace Riley, has decided to leave the show. His character’s storyline will wrap up early in Season Five. Jesse is a valued member of the Crown Media family; we look forward to continuing to work with him on projects, including original movies on Hallmark Channel, as well as his Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ movie series, Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries, the next installment of which premieres on May 16. In addition, we are currently in development on another movie in the series.
In an interview with Heavy in early March, Metcalfe shared how thankful he was to be in the series.
He said: “I’m actually leaving at the end of this month to shoot season 5 of Chesapeake Shores, which is a series I’m on for the Hallmark Channel. It’s a great family drama where I play a country music singer and songwriter. So, I can to sing on the show, which is something I find incredibly gratifying. It’s always nice to be on season 5 of a successful series.”
I watched CS, but it was sad. It seems they made Trabby into never a real couple and it was supposedly so hard for Abby this entire time. She said she wasn't happy, and she kept trying to get him to say it. He said what he wasn't happy about was NOT being with her. I was about to turn it off if Trace said he agreed and wasn't happy with Abby. Trace has loved Abby for so long and he has been staying running the club so he could show her he was staying.

I always felt something was up with Jesse cause he always would tell us fans that loved his music on the show they would release the music and they never did. Jesse was one of only a few that even live tweet on the show and promote it. He was always happy to talk to people who loved Trace music. When they renewed the show he was the one out promoting, talking about it. For this to happen to him sucks. After last night, i cant stand Abby and hope she would just leave. Not interested in watching the poor teacher guy have to compete with some rich developer for her.
The books are so wonderful and Trabby are the core relationship. They start off the books and there are like 13 books and Trabby were always the couple.
A few things I noticed:
Bree's future boss name is Jerome. Pretty sure i know where that is going.
where was Gran? they mentioned her but didnt see her. And is Thomas gone? they didnt show him in the intro song at all.
without Trace, i could care less about Abby. I only want to watch for Jess & David and Kevin & Sarah now. But sad to say i kind of hope it gets cancelled. Jesse did draw a lot of fans and i guess we will see how many stay. Bringing Robert Buckley wont do much.

I guess I'll watch it now, but I have a feeling I'm going to feel just as you do about Jesse. I think there is going to be a big amount of disappointed fans again, like WCTH.
DeleteI also recall how active Jesse was on social media promoting the show. When I was watching A Country Wedding last night, I kept wondering why they never released a CD of music to go along with the movie. It would have been a huge hit with Hallmark fans. I also thought it was unfair Jesse didn't even sing the theme song to the series. I mean, I love the "I'm Coming Home" song, but I always thought Jesse should've been the one singing it.
I looked the next day and I only saw Andrew Francis tweeting and little with Barbara Niven. nobody else tweets on the show with the fans. Jesse was very active (not this week i doubt he was tweeting when he is gone). But he was always interacting with the fans when the others cant be bothered. Andrew Francis has always been very active as well. I appreciate they take the time for that. Although i dont live tweet anymore only when SSD is on will i check tweets with fans and comment.
DeleteI think Jesse would rock if he went out and starred doing live shows singing, he is so good. I love the songs he sings on Country Wedding. Love Dont Die Easy I know was a song by someone else, but his singing of it is so good. Freefall is one of the best songs he did on CS and there were a few others that were already country songs, but he was always talking to the fans that loved his music. EVERYONE loved Freefall. You can only find it on you tube where someone recorded from the tv and then there was a preview thru HM where he sings it with Trabby memories.
Does he sing at all on Martha's Vineyard, if he does i might need to watch them. They look interesting i just am over the only mystery on this channel is murder.

Net, you just hit the nail on the head! I was watching CS, first season, on HM Drama (I think) last night and Abby was watching a video of him singing, and I was thinking the same thing--why they didn't issue a CD of him singing on CS! It would have been huge!!!

DeleteSo far, Jesse Metcalfe has not sung anything in any of the "Martha's Vineyard" movies. They are all excellent, though, but I totally understand being tired of the violence and murder on HMM.

Looking forward to the two new movies, as far as CS my main reason for watching was Jesse. I speculate that with them not giving him as much airtime he may have become discouraged...but I have this underlying "theory" that they were going to turn this into a WCTH type of show and Jesse decided he didn't want to be part of that. Just my thoughts. I'll watch the first episode to see how they handle his leaving and then I'm probably done.
ReplyDeleteClara, that's a good theory. It was well known Jesse wasn't pleased with Trace's storyline, and I bet your spot on with the love triangle. It's definitely going to be sad when he leaves.

If it loses a sizable proportion of it's audience then they won't continue the series - Florence
I love all of Erin Cahill's movies and would love to see her join the Signed Sealed Delivered or WCTH family cast. She would fit right in.

I'll try, but it's going to be a really hard after so many seasons. I've liked Robert in some movies, too, especially Lifetime's The Christmas Contract and Hallmark's Love in Store.
DeleteRe CS, I felt the scene with Abby and Trace was very strange. First it felt as if the scene wasn't even filmed with each other. It had an oddness to it, not to mention it was clearly evidently that Abby was wearing a wig. I found their argument to be very uncomfortable, and very out of character(s) as well, and very sad. I'll watch next week, but I am not crazy about Abby's new love interest--just not feeling the chemistry even from short previews, but we shall see. I can't blame JM for leaving. His character had huge potential, but he was getting lost in all those O'Briens.
ReplyDeleteYes, Savvy Girl! Oh my gosh - Abby's wig was totally distracting. She looked so different there and the argument was beyond frustrating to watch. I also totally agree with Jesse's decision to leave with the way they were writing their love story. Excellent point with him being lost with all of the O'Briens... it seemed like he was always on the outside looking in.
DeleteSavvy Girl, the scenes were filmed at different times. The first part where she kisses Trace was how season 4 ended. It’s like, over the past year and a half they suddenly decided to split Trace and Abby up instead of bringing them back together so they had to extend that scene by adding the “kiss goodbye”remark, thus, the wig.

ReplyDeleteSavvy Girl, From what most of us are piecing together from Jesse's social media comments it seems like the writers were not putting Abby & Trace together after all, and I don't think Jesse wanted to stick around for a whole season of that, thus the flashbacks of their breaking up in the first couple episodes. I totally agree with Sabrina - it is very sad to watch. It's nearly as crushing as Jack dying in WCTH all over again.
