Well, technically, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' web-site is currently showing classic Christmas movies will start airing on Thursday, October 24th. It is the mystery channel, after all, so they are being mysterious. At this time, there is conclusive evidence, however, of films like...
"A Christmas to Remember" at 7pm/6c.
"Karen Kingbury's Maggie's Christmas Miracle at 9pm/8c.
AND "Magical Christmas Ornaments at 11pm/10c.

This is actually our LAST *MARK the 25th* for 2019! Can you believe it? Next month, at this time, we'll be watching Christmas movies on TV!
While we are 1 month away from that happening, on October 25, it's 3 Months until CHRISTMAS DAY!!!
Here at "It's a Wonderful Movie" we highlight every 25th day of the month - TOGETHER! - as we countdown to Christmas! You can also join along!
For all of you Christmas movie fans who wish to participate, simply pick something Christmassy to watch TODAY - on the 25th! It can be a Christmas movie, cartoon, family sitcom or anything you like. Since this is the last Mark the 25 before the Christmas movies begin on Hallmark and Lifetime, I wanted to choose a fun movie to watch as we are waiting for the season to begin... almost the same feeling we get on Christmas Eve when we are waiting up for Santa! Storyline via Hallmark: Aunt Sally’s Christmas Cookie Company is sold to a large conglomerate and executive Hannah (Wagner) must seal the deal and shut down the factory, which is the small town of Cookie Jar’s lifeblood. What was supposed to be a simple assignment for Hannah becomes complicated when she meets Jake (Brown), the factory owner who’s determined to keep the factory in town. Despite not being a fan of the holiday, the Christmas spirit in this small town is infectious and she gets swept up in the joy of the season while also falling in love.
And, if those Christmas Cookies don't fill me up, I just might have a bite of... (or save some leftovers for another day!)

This is such a sweet story of a small town bakery run by Allison Bennet (Rachel Boston) and her mother, Martha (Patricia Richardson) - that makes Christmas cookies for guess who? Santa and Mrs. Claus! I simply fell in love with this movie - with it's enchanting small town and a handsome visiting stranger... portrayed by Andrew Walker!

Storyline via Lifetime: Allison Bennet (Rachel Boston), along with her daughter Olivia and mother Martha (Patricia Richardson), run a bakery in the small mountain town of White Pines, Tennessee. When Matthew (Andrew Walker), a charming real estate developer, tries to buy the town for a corporate ski resort, Allison and the townspeople must work together to prevent that from happening. And just when the Bennet ladies seem out of luck, an unexpected visitor—with a well-known sweet tooth for cookies and milk—comes to the bakery and may in fact be the key to solving everything.

Its the 25th yay!!!!!!! Ok since I will be watching so many Hallmark Christmas movies in a month, I think I am going to watch non Hallmark, Lifetime, and go with..... A Christmas Story tonight. I love that movie so much. I always look forward to 24 hours of A Christmas Story on Christmas eve on TBS or TNT.
ReplyDeleteLittle Randy all bundled up in his many jackets/warm gear, its just so adorable. Randy showing mommy how the piggy's eat, so adorable. Love Miss Shields asking "I said, has anyone seen Flick?" and Ralph saying in his head "Flick who?" And when Miss Shields gets Ralph's huge gift basket and she says Thank you, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, You can take your seat now, as Ralph is just standing there smiling. And dad saying he got a "Major Award" and Santa telling Ralphie, "you'll shoot your eye out". Can't wait to watch.
Hi Sabrina...I read your comment about "A Christmas Story" and just had to go watch my favorite part of that whole movie (I love that movie by the way). It's at the very end when the Mom comes down the stairs and turns off the lights and then turns on the old fashioned radio which is playing "Silent Night". She goes over to her husband who is sitting on the chair right next to the beautiful wonderful old fashioned lit up Christmas Tree (the kind I like best) and sits with him admiring the glorious snowfall through the window while nothing but the Christmas Tree lights up the room. Absolutely love that peaceful serene scene. I have played it over and over so many times. After all the hussle and bussle they are left with this peaceful precious moment to share together. So that's what I watched on the 25th, today. Thanks for the reminder of a great memory of mine.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if others will choose to only watch one network, as well??? I, personally, will be attempting to watch/record everything, but we'll see how that goes. With an abundance of premieres, there are certainly lots of choices this year! Happy watching Hallmark! :)

DeleteI decided to watch a classic tonight. "Miracle on 34th ST". The great heart warming tale of proving the real Santa Clause. Natalie Wood and Edwin Gwen. Along with a host of other great actors and actress's make this a very entertaining movie. One month to go. Looking forward to the start of Christmas movies.

DeleteSo many wonderful lines from the movie instantly come to mind, especially "I believe... I believe... It's silly, but I believe!" I think a part of us, no matter our age, always wants to still believe in Santa Claus. That's the true gift of this movie - to every generation!

Excellent choice Net! I will be joining you watching Christmas Cookies. I think this movie was my first exposure to Jill Wagner. What a delight she is! I had seen Wes Brown before...how can you not like him!! Eye candy!

Yay, Joyce! We watched "Christmas Cookies" together! Aren't Jill & Wes simply wonderful? I love the way they meet in the movie - so cute. - and the sledding scene... oh, and when Hannah's boyfriend suddenly shows up. Yikes! Poor Jake, his disappointment is all over his face. Wes is fabulous in that role and Jill seems to be one of those people, like Andrew Walker, who is great with just about anyone! Now, if we could just get those two together - that would be great!

DeleteNet, you are blowing my mind. I can't believe the start of Countdown to and Miracles of Christmas as well as It's a Wonderful Lifetime are just a month away. That's great news. Your choice of movie to Mark the 25th is a really nice and romantic one. Jill Wagner is great in anything. I am Marking the 25th with The Christmas Ornament from 2013. I really like Kellie Martin and have been a fan of her since "Life Goes On." The story starts sad, but moves at just the right pace along to a very romantic Christmas ending. Highly recommend it to people who like to shed a tear or two at the end of a movie. Bring a box of tissues to this one. Could anyone remember the name of a film I saw a couple of years ago and would like to see again? It involves a woman who owns a bakery I think and she somehow summons a real living Nutcracker and two human mice. Great fantasy movie and I laughed so hard at the end I got hiccups. Please, if you remember the name of that film, could you remind me? Thank you all. Peace.

Hey Mark2, So glad we could solve this mystery! Melissa Joan Hart and Barry Watson are such great comedic actors and always so funny to watch in just about anything. Their Lifetime movie together last year was definitely a fun one... I found myself laughing out loud, too, at all the craziness numerous times. It was one of those movies you really had no idea what might happen next!
DeleteHope you enjoyed "The Christmas Ornament" on the 25th. I love Cameron Mathison as Tim, the Christmas tree lot owner. He's fantastic! I can just hear him saying.... "I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!" That's the best!!!
It was also so good to see Cameron feeling well and returning back to work this week on Home & Family, following his surgery.

It's so crazy to consider the fact that by the end of Halloween night, on October 31st, there will have already been at least SEVEN new Christmas movie premieres! At least 7 Christmas movies -- if not more -- will premiere between October 25th and October 31st.
ReplyDeleteNow when I say "at least," that's because we don't yet know what the ION network is doing with their own Christmas movies, and when they are starting them.
But just going by the info we already have from Hallmark, Lifetime and UP, we know that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will premiere 2 Christmas movies at the end of October; Hallmark Channel will premiere 1 new movie; Lifetime will premiere 3 late October movies, and UP will premiere 1 new one.
The reason I think it's so crazy is that, for a long while, it was only Hallmark that was getting criticized for starting their Christmas movies before Halloween, and now we have Lifetime and UP jumping into the mix too.
It's also crazy because even when the Hallmark Channel has premiered a Christmas movie at the end of October in previous years, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel didn't start premiering new movies until November. But now HMM is premiering them in October too!
And Lifetime and UP always used to premiere their new movies starting in November, but now they are part of the October group!
Obviously, I am not even getting into the November and December premieres. And I am not getting into the statement that there will supposedly be 2 new-to-Hallmark movies added to Hallmark Movies Now PER WEEK, every week during the holidays, some of which might be previously unseen on other networks too.
This all makes me wonder what will happen next year and beyond. If we are to assume that Hallmark built up their Christmas event largely because of the Countdown to Christmas anniversary this year, does that mean they will scale back the number of new movies in 2020, or will they hang in there with another 40? Or... will they premiere even more than 40 in 2020? And if they do stick with 40 or more, will UP and Lifetime continue to crank out more movies too, just to keep up the pace, or will they scale back their own schedules?
I've been thinking the same thing regarding Hallmark's special 10th Anniversary year. Mainly I've been wondering - can they keep up this level of movies next year? Will people loose interest with all of these new movies or will they look down on Hallmark if they create less next year?
DeleteIt is incredible to think how many premieres are coming, as you said, in October alone! I guess the other networks realized Hallmark has a great thing going and they wanted to share in that ratings success by duplicating their format. It's a compliment and yet, I know, they are major competitors vying for viewers to watch their channel. I'm wondering if Lifetime & UP will majorly cut into Hallmark's ratings this year. Whatever happens will surely reflect on what next year will have to offer.
Since the special Christmas Thursdays on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Christmas Fridays on the Hallmark Channel began this year to celebrate Countdown to Christmas' 10th Anniversary, I'm wondering if they'll be gone next year or rebranded as something else. I know many (myself included!), sure would miss them every week.
I'm really going to be curious to see how the ratings go this year. I think Hallmark's 10th Anniversary is a big draw to pull viewers in, but since Lifetime is going 24/7 with their movies, too, it will surely make things interesting this year!
Every time a network announces their Christmas lineup, hallmark goes and moves theirs around, so I am sure there will be more moves cause Ion still hasn't announced.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I am pretty sure I am going to be watching the other networks more than Hallmark this year, very disappointed by them this year, I noticed Mondays Lifetime is playing Christmas movies starting today, I will record the HM movies I like and watch the other networks. Being that it seems hallmark has gone from caring about their viewers all year long to caring about being #1 for Christmas, I will help the other networks.
Hi Sabrina! The forever changing Hallmark schedule continues to be an on-going challenge. Some things never change. For some reason, each year when I watch the first preview special, I always hope and believe everything will just stay put, but then there are always changes.
