Whether it's morning, high noon, or night, I want to say thank you for visiting *It's a Wonderful Movie* today! Kick off your boots and stay awhile... because I am thrilled to share with you my latest interview with Jill Wagner and Jet Jurgensmeyer - for their all new movie that takes place in the old west!

Now, if you are familiar with the INSP series Handcrafted America, which Jill Wagner hosts, or if you're a TV movie fan, then you'll instantly recognize Jill from her movies: Christmas in the Smokies, from INSP, or her Hallmark movies: Autumn Dreams, Christmas Cookies, Pearl in Paradise, Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa and many more! I am so honored to be interviewing Jill for a second time around. By the way, you can see our first interview - Here! We had such a wonderful time discussing her latest & upcoming projects then- and now, here we are again... chatting on her latest! See below!

This is my first time, however, interviewing Jet Jurgensmeyer. He seems like such a remarkable, thoughtful young man. It was easy to tell from his responses below how grounded he is and close to his family. You may recognize him in his current role as Boyd Baxter in the popular TV sitcom Last Man Standing (as Tim Allen's grandson) and more places, which Jet mentions below!

I hope you will enjoy my interview here, with both Jill Wagner and Jet Jurgensmeyer, who play Mother and Son in the upcoming INSP film, The Legend of 5 Mile Cave.

INTERVIEW

Jill Wagner

Jet Jurgensmeyer

-------------------------------------

Net, It’s a Wonderful Movie: Welcome Jill and Jet to It’s a Wonderful Movie, where we chat about family friendly movies and shows on TV! Please tell us about your INSP film The Legend of 5 Mile Cave, and your characters in the movie?

Jill Wagner: The Legend of 5 Mile Cave is a throwback to the great old western movies. I play Susan, a single mom fighting to save her farm.

Jet Jurgensmeyer: Thanks so much for having me. “The Legend Of 5 Mile Cave” is a great family movie. I love it because it is a period piece and has a lot of action. My character, Tommy Tilwicky, is a young man that has had to grow up quickly because of the loss of his father. I had to really imagine what it would be like without my father. It makes you think long and hard.

Net, It’s a Wonderful Movie: What was it like stepping back in time and creating this movie with your co-stars? Also, where did you film? The setting looks incredible!

Jill Wagner: It was a dream come true for me. This was my first period piece, and I absolutely loved the sets and the wardrobe. It also was very challenging for me as I had to learn the dialect that people spoke back in that time and for that region. We filmed in Georgia, but there was a whole other part of the film that they shot in Arizona.

Jet Jurgensmeyer: We filmed in Toccoa, GA. It was so much fun working with Jill Wagner and Adam Baldwin. We all immediately hit it off and felt so connected to our roles. We felt like we were all just meant to play these characters. The sets and wardrobe were spot on and really take you back in time.

Net, It’s a Wonderful Movie: INSP is well known for playing many wonderful western type TV shows and movies on their channel, and since this movie is based in the old west, do you happen to have a favorite old western or prairie style movie or TV series?

Jill Wagner: Growing up, my grandfather would always have Gunsmoke on the TV, so that show is really nostalgic for me. Me personally, I loved Little House on the Prairie.

Jet Jurgensmeyer: I just love westerns! Two of my favorites are “Tombstone” and “Quigley Down Under”. I ride horses and spend a lot of time with my family on our farm riding, so I guess I am just drawn to this type of movie.

Net, It’s a Wonderful Movie: Do you have a favorite scene or memorable filming moment in The Legend of 5 Mile Cave?

Jill Wagner: I loved the scene where Sam tells Susan something he has been hiding from her. That was a very emotional scene for me, which I try to run from, but in the end it turned out to be one of my favorites. I also really love when Shooter and Josie meet. Josie reminds me a bit of myself in real life.

Jet Jurgensmeyer: I love the scene where Sam teaches Tommy how to shoot. That was really cool for me. I also think the scene where Sam and Tommy are sitting on the porch talking about Shooter Green is just a really neat moment. They seem so relaxed together and like they have something in common. I think it feels like there is a real connection between them.

Net, It’s a Wonderful Movie: Of all the roles you have played in the past, which is your favorite? Also, from what project(s) are we most likely to know you from?

Jill Wagner: All the roles I have played have a special place in my heart, but I have to say I do love Susan a lot. I loved the time period, and being on a farm is where my heart lives. Most people know me as the host of Wipeout, or from my Hallmark movies, or the action movie Braven opposite Jason Momoa (Aquaman).

Jet Jurgensmeyer: I have played in a lot of different movies and TV shows. “The Little Rascals Save The Day”, “Adventures in Babysitting”, and “Devil’s Knot” are a few of my films. Currently I play Boyd Baxter on Fox’s “Last Man Standing”. I joined the cast this last year in Season 7. I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. They were special in their own way. Spanky was an iconic role and something I was very proud of doing at such a young age.

Net, It’s a Wonderful Movie: Do you have any future projects you would like to share?

Jill Wagner: I have a mystery series on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel called Mystery 101 that I am filming currently, and a Hallmark Christmas movie called Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses coming out near Christmas.

(Side note for all you Sleuthers: “Mystery 101: Playing Dead,” starring Jill Wagner & Kristoffer Polaha, will premiere June 23, 2019, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries!)

Jet Jurgensmeyer: Well we found out that Fox is bringing us back on “Last Man Standing” for another season. We start Season 8 in Aug. I have an animated show coming out in June for Disney Jr. called “T.O.T.S.”. I play Pip the Penguin. It is such a cute show for kids. I also have my first album coming out next month called “Jet Jurgensmeyer”. I am really excited about that!

Net, It’s a Wonderful Movie: What does it mean to you – to create movies that families can watch together? What do you hope viewers will take away from watching your INSP movie The Legend of 5 Mile Cave?

Jill Wagner: It means so much to me now that I have a 9-year-old stepdaughter. I love that she can watch and I don’t have to worry about bad words or anything inappropriate. I hope this movie will take people back to a time of the great old westerns.

Jet Jurgensmeyer: Anyone who knows me, knows how important family is. My parents and I are very close. They are with me and totally support me in my career or whatever it is that I want to do. We love movies and always watch them together. I have learned from them how important it is to be able to do things as a family. It makes us feel like a team. I appreciate how they include me in their lives, so I always want to include them in mine. I hope when people watch “The Legend Of 5 Mile Cave” that they enjoy the action and adventure, but I also hope that they can learn something from it. Maybe they can take away from it that you shouldn’t always just judge someone when you first meet them. Sometimes, a total stranger like Sam Green in the beginning, could end up being someone you really have a connection with that could help to change your life.

  4. I haven't seen a real western for awhile. I watch When Calls the Heart, but it doesn't look quite as authentic as this. I remember when my family would watch Gunsmoke and Bonanza together. Those were the days.
