Hallmark Movies & Mysteries heats up when the network's Summer of Mystery kicks-off with "Darrow & Darrow: In the Key of Murder," premiering Sunday, May 6, (7 pm ET/PT), and starring Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Father of the Bride, "Nashville"), Wendie Malick ("BoJack Horseman," "Hot in Cleveland") and Tom Cavanagh ("The Flash," "Ed").

June brings the return of "Hailey Dean Mysteries" reuniting star Kellie Martin with former "Life Goes On" co-star Chad Lowe in a three-movie arc that tells the true, tragic story of Executive Producer Nancy Grace's real-life journey to becoming a prosecutor and victims' rights advocate.

In July, The POstables (Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson) tackle a new dead letter case in a new "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," Holly Robinson Peete and Rick Fox are back in "The Morning Show Mystery: Murder on the Menu," while Candace Cameron Bure dives into another mystery in "Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: The Disappearing Game."

"Garage Sale Mystery" starring Lori Loughlin will once again takeover the month of August with four all-new adventures.

Summer wraps up with more suspense and whodunnits with the introduction of "Crossword Mysteries" starring Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott, "Picture Perfect" starring Alexa and Carlos PenaVega, "Mystery U" and "The Chronicle Mysteries," starring and executive produced by Alison Sweeney.

  1. Looking forward to most of these. The first Darrow & Darrow was very good and SSD is always the best. All of the new ones will make the watch list.

Skipping Aurora and GSM in the future. Carry over from the WCTH aftermath. They've lost me as a viewer of their movies.

    1. Oh yes, SSD is always a beautiful journey! This particular upcoming movie will be especially meaningful- because it is Norman and Rita's wedding!!! Oh, I can't wait to see it, and I keep hoping afterwards, we will hear of additional SSD movies on the way!!!

  2. So Mystery U is also with Alison Sweeney?

    1. I wondered the same thing, Sabrina. Are they separate, or is Alison involved in or producing both? Great question. I'm not sure. Another Hallmark mystery!!!

I'm wondering the same thing...we had not any news on Mystery U before had we?? Whatever it is I'm looking forward to seeing Alison. HMM put some her movies back on their schedule which delighted me greatly....but not Love On The Air. Can't understand what the problem is with that movie...they never show it.
Thanks Net for always sharing the Hallmark news!

    4. I noticed that too Joyce, HMM is putting some of their drama movies back on, I am so happy. I saw Irresistible BB Farm, Strawberry Summer, The Love Comes Softly movies, and a few others I can't think of now, I was so happy as this was one of my wishes and reasons why I stopped watching HMM, they only played the mystery series over and over with Monk and Psych. I missed the drama movies. And since I can't get HM Drama, I am glad some are back.

I have Love on the Air on my DVR from like 3 years ago, when it was still on HM channel. I watched it a few weeks ago, such a great movie.

I know what you mean Sabrina...don't care for Monk & Psych. I recorded Love On The Air too. So glad I did since it's disappeared from the schedule.

I just love this blog...we get to hear all the news from Net...she's totally awesome, and make on line friends too. Blessings to you Sabrina, Net and all who visit here!

    6. How sweet, Joyce! Thank you!

Plus, I absolutely agree with you both... it is so nice to see some past favorites return on HMM. I hadn't checked the HMM weeknight schedule, so I was pleasantly surprised the other night to see "The Irresistible Blueberry Farm!" That isn't one that pops up very often, but is always so fun to watch! Love Alison Sweeney in it, and of course Marc Blucas!!! It is, well... Irresistible!!!

Blessings to you both!!! Net :)

    7. Net, I noticed they're including non-mystery movies, I watched Puppy Love the other day. As much as I love the mysteries, I wish Hallmark would go back and put more emphasis on including other Hallmark movies, that are not mysteries. I can only watch so many repeats of mysteries.

      Delete
    8. Yes, there are so many good ones to keep in circulation, Jill! I also caught "Puppy Love" the other night. It's definitely not your standard mystery, but I guess a missing dog is still a mystery, right? (just kidding... I know it's not a mystery, it's a love story!) Anyway, I absolutely agree... it is good to see some non-criminal type mysteries/movies on HMM again, after all it is HALLMARK MOVIES & Mysteries. They shouldn't all have to be a Mystery.

Net...very witty! I laughed out loud at the "well, it's irresistible!" comment about blueberry farm! ;)

  3. Ooh this sounds like a great summer line up--I love the Hallmark mysteries. Wish they would have one with the Flower Shop Mystery gang!

    1. Oh, I agree, Jenny! Unfortunately, though, "Flower Shop Mystery" is no more. I know it's disappointing... I really enjoyed that one, too.

However, we can look forward to having Brennan Elliott in "Crossword Mysteries!" I think that one sounds especially intriguing!!!

    1. Yes, "Morning Show Mystery" was a good who-dun-it with plenty of potential suspects! It is nice, I agree, to see it will return on screen - in July!

  6. The last paragraph says "Summer Wraps Up..." which can only mean one thing: Countdown to Christmas is right around the corner! Can't wait to come to this site and see all the new films and learn a little bit more about them and the characters!

    1. Oh yes... Christmas will be shortly thereafter, Brent! Fall Harvest will follow on the Hallmark Channel and I imagine these new Mystery movies might be spread throughout September and October... which then leads to Christmas, of course!!!

Now, we may not have to wait until then to learn many of the movies that are coming. Hallmark has been releasing a few details, and I'm keeping the list of 2018 Christmas movies *here* this year, as the networks officially release titles or details.

Thank you for sharing in the excitement, Brent!

      Blessings, Net

    1. Dylan Neal has said (just recently, in fact, in replies on his Instagram page) that he is pretty certain that Hallmark is done with Gourmet Detective. I don't think there will be anymore.

    2. I am super put out that Gourmet Detective is finished. That series had me hooked! Which, for me, is saying something! Smart, witty, intriguing dialogue and characters. I will be sad to see it go........hope they release the movies on DVD!

    3. Me too, LB! Brooke and Dylan's banter reminded me of the early Moonlighting episodes with Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd.

    4. I wish we would have some finalization with these mystery series. They begin and one by one we get invested in these characters and their lives, and then once the main couple gets together - they seem to just end there. That is disappointing news; I was hoping to see more of Dylan Neal, Brooke Burns, and Bruce Boxleitner solving crimes & mysteries together! That's too bad.

  8. LOTS of movies happening this summer.....bring it on! Looks like a great line up and I am thrilled there will be a new SSD movie for us! A little sun, surf, and some who-done-it fun!!! Sounds like the perfect summer!!!

  9. Is Hallmark Movies & Mysteries worth the added expense? That is an excellent question, Jim. It sounds like you have already put some great deal of thought into this.

Two of the main reasons I invested in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel several years back was Christmas and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." Beyond that, I have always enjoyed mystery type shows, as long as they are not creepy. Hallmark is the perfect fit for me on that front, although I do wish there were less "murder" type mysteries, like "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" or "The Irresistible Blueberry Farm."

I have found some people enjoy mysteries, while others do not. I personally like the "Monk" television series which runs daily, and an occasional episode of "Psych," when I can catch one of them. Plus, each weeknight from 9-11 EST. they play one of the HMM mystery movies.

The weekends often consist of marathons of "Monk" and "Psych" and marathons of the HMM movies, too, like "Aurora Teagarden," "Garage Sale Mystery," or "Murder She Baked," etc...

Is HMM the same feel as the Hallmark Channel? No, I must say, it is not. The mystery aspect does make the shows and movies a bit darker, but our heroes and heroines always save the day, so I guess we can say - there's LIGHT at the end of the tunnel!!!

There will also be Christmas in July on HMM, but as of now, no new movie premieres are planned.

I know it's a tough decision, financially speaking. For myself personally, I find it is worth it, because I turn to the station quite often throughout the week, and especially on the weekends.

I would suggest visiting the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries web-site..., and look through their schedule and videos to see if their programming interests you.

Hope this is helpful in your decision making.

    Blessings on your day! Net

  10. It was a must have for us. I like some of the HM&M movie series they have more than the standard romance on the main channel.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered is the best thing on Hallmark in my opinion. Murder She Baked, Fixer Upper, Emma Fielding, Hailey Dean, Morning Show Murders and Darrow & Darrow are all very good movie series. All dramatic but not scary and the good guys always win. Plus they're bringing some new mystery movies into the lineup.

We view the extra $5 we spend for the channel as a cheap date night. Kids in bed and then we try to guess who did it before the big reveal.

The Psych reruns are a bonus too. I loved the show when it aired and it's been fun rewatching it from the beginning.

    I hope this helps.

  11. Jim, I'm glad I could help you out with your decision on HMM. That's great you are enjoying your Directv Now service... it definitely seems cutting the cord is the way everyone's going these days. If you join back in July, then you'll probably be able to see the latest premieres, plus you'll definitely see the new SSD premiere, Aurora Teagarden, & Morning Show Mystery, and of course, Christmas! That's so wonderful you can join in for a month and then drop it, if you choose.

Thank you for sharing! Blessings, Net

  12. Anonymous, I feel the same way! My family and I turn to HMM quite often, so it makes sense for us to keep it. Sounds like we enjoy many of the same mysteries, too!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on HMM! Blessings, Net

  13. I'm with you there, Jim! Christmas is completely non-negotiable! Must have it 24-7! I love it! :)

  14. Another big bonus for Sling TV is that they also have the new Hallmark Drama channel -- for no extra charge other than what you would be paying to get the Hallmark package that includes the first 2 channels. The Hallmark Drama channel is also going to be showing Christmas movies in July (Hallmark said on their Countdown to Christmas Facebook page that it would be the last week in July), and who knows which movies those will be? If they are showing movies on Hallmark Drama in July, then they will probably show some movies at some point during the holiday season too.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I enjoy your blog and info you provide. Will there be any new "Murder She Baked" movies with Allison Sweeney? They are playing some today I see. I was very disappointed that the "Flower Shop" mysteries ended.

    1. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans for another movie in the "Murder She Baked" mystery series, which is quite disappointing to many fans who would absolutely love more in this series. The lead actress, Alison Sweeney, is moving on to do another mystery, much to the dismay of MSB faithful viewers.

  16. Jim -- You're welcome! Take the 'Christmas movies in July on Hallmark Drama' thing with a measure of caution and a grain of salt, as we all know that Hallmark changes plans and schedules a lot. Also, the people who handle the social media pages don't always seem to know of some of the info that appears on the Hallmark website (such as schedule changes). I think they don't always have the latest info from their Programming Dept. (Just recently, someone asked the Facebook page team which royal/prince movie it is that was filmed in Ireland because she did not catch the title of it when she saw the commercial, and the Hallmark Facebook people were unable to tell the woman that the movie in question is Royally Ever After, even though the "filmed in Ireland" angle has been used in recent promos for the movie on the channel!)

On their dedicated Countdown to Christmas Facebook page, I saw Hallmark mention in a couple of different replies to people that all 3 channels would be participating in the July festivities, and in one response they specifically said that Hallmark Drama's Christmas movies would be shown from July 23rd to the "end of the month." And then I checked that same page a couple of days ago, and I saw them say something different that did not include Hallmark Drama. My guess is that they will probably show some Christmas movies on Hallmark Drama at some point in July, but it could be something like one movie per night over that last week of the month, or just something more limited than what they are doing on the other 2 channels.

  17. Jim, I have the DirecTV Now “live a little” package, and it has both Hallmark and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. It’s the cheapest package option...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I really like the movies on HMM, but I've chosen not to pay for the channel. I have DirecTV and it's in a different movie bundle, and I don't want to pay anymore. Plus, HMM does not have a regular schedule lineup that would make it one I would watch almost at all outside of when new movies premiere. DirecTV offers a few week-long previews of the channel throughout the year and I watch and catch up on what I can during those times (one such preview is coming up this at the end of this week). It works for me, and I just keep hoping Hallmark pushes to get it moved out of the package sooner than later. I do really enjoy the HMM movies, but it's not worth it to me to add the package when I'd be doing so solely for this one channel and even then, it likely wouldn't be one I had on weekly. Unlike main Hallmark, they do not litter their weekend schedule with their original movies. Hope that helps.
