Sunday January 7, 2018
at 9pm/8c. on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Well, how was your first week without Hallmark Christmas movies 24/7? I know. I know. Same here. I was at a loss as to what to turn the channel to many times. Over the last two months there was always something, either new or familiar, to turn to, and at night... so easy to drift off with. (Yeah, I know... they say, "you shouldn't watch TV before going to sleep... blah, blah, blah" Whatever. I'm sure I wasn't alone. I know others who have fessed up to doing it, too!)

In all seriousness, Hallmark Christmas movies leave you feeling good inside, and hopeful about the world and our fellow mankind. Whether I was watching intently, or it was simply on in the background, just knowing it was there was somehow a comfort. With all the lovely songs that sang out the joy of Christmas and the happy love stories, I felt at peace.

Thank you Hallmark for giving us these two months of sheer Christmas bliss!

Now, I suppose it's time to look forward to the next season... Winterfest!

I hope you all stay warm this Winter weekend. We still have snow here in the Midwest (we've been "white" since Christmas and more is on the way!), and we have bitterly cold temperatures. Be safe everyone and take care! This will be an ideal time to stay cozy inside, play a board game or Solitaire, and watch a good movie!

What's your weather like?

Are you looking forward to...
or did you enjoy this weekend's new movies?

Blessings to You All!!! Net

  1. Thanks to you, Net, I feel the Christmas spirit all year long, buuuuuuuuttt, I am having Hallmark Christmas withdrawal, in a really bad way. My DVD collection helps some, but it's not the same.

Anyways, on a brighter note, Winterfest looks cute. At least we have that to get us through the Winter blues. Plus, Candace! It's all good!

    xoxo, Em

    1. Awe, thank you, Em! I feel the same! I am grateful to have my Christmas DVDs, but it's not the same as just flipping on the TV and it's simply there... plus, the fun of knowing millions of others are watching, too!

We are blessed, as you mentioned, to have Winterfest and Miss Hallmark Christmas, herself, Candace Cameron Bure, in a new movie this weekend!!! Hope you enjoy them both!!!

      Happy New Year!!! Blessings, Net

    2. Em...Hallmark Christmas Withdrawal is a REAL thing. Some day it will be studied in all the mental health journals...haha I have it in a really bad way also. Always get it every year at this time. It takes me until February hits to be fully over it but the week after Christmas Day and the week after New Year's Day are the worst. Makes me feel like a crazy person.

You are so right Net in your post. I keep stumbling around for what channel to I put on now. It was a lock for two months where to go. You were also so right about the peace and comfort it brings.

    3. It's so wonderful, Em and Jim, to know we aren't alone in our missing the Christmas movies and everything that goes along with it! I usually love to find little Christmas bargains after Christmas, but it's always so sad to see the broken ornaments tossed aside, at some ridiculous marked price of 90% off, or something.

As for what channel to watch, it is nice to have the weekday movies on the Hallmark Channel, at least, and the one nightly mystery movie on HMM, but it's just not Christmas, right?

Anyway, I'm just going to look forward with great anticipation of all the joy and Christmas movies that lie ahead!!! :)

      Blessings to You both!!! Net

  2. Sad about Martin, but in the books Martin died in the Fool and his Honey, which was A Bundle of Trouble. I was so happy he lived, but sad he won't be in the next movies. I was hoping the movies would keep Martin. I'm just not a fan of the Roe Robin love. Just my opinion and I love the Aurora Teagarden series and look forward to more books and movies.

    1. Thank you, Sabrina, for sharing this scoop on the Aurora books. I haven't read this series, so I had no idea that is what happens to Martin in them. That's very interesting. I know we will all be eager to see what happens with him in his last Aurora movie!

As for Roe and Robin, I really liked those two together and thought they were such a great match! They seemed to have such a good connection... a love for books, crime solving, and desserts!

Can't wait to see the new Aurora movie Sunday night!!! :)

  3. I liked Yannick Bisson and thought he and Aurora were a perfect match! I remember him from “Sue Thomas FBI” and “Murdoch Mysteries”—wish him well in what else he may be doing! I really like the entire cast of this series! Glad there is more to come!
I’ve also enjoyed the reruns of “Full House”- Candace is adorable!

    1. Awe! I like Yannick a lot, too! They were so fortunate to get him to do this Mystery series, as well! He's an expert now at filming Mystery shows and crime solving! My first remembrance of him was from the Surfer TV Series "High Tide" in the 90's! He's just as handsome now, as he was then!

Thanks so much for sharing your favorites! I also love our Candace as sweet, young D.J.!!! I love that Hallmark carries the "Full House" sitcom now, as it's ideal for family viewing! A perfect fit for the Hallmark brand!

      Enjoy the new Aurora movie!!!

  4. Truth be told, I am still catching up on the new Christmas movies I recorded.

I'm excited about the new Aurora movies; the one airing tomorrow night as well as the TWO new ones about to begin filming. SO cool!

    Have a wonderful weekend Net,

    1. I'm in the same boat, Kerry!!! My recorder is so full of Christmas movies I wasn't sure where I was going to squeeze in Winterfest, Aurora, & Runaway Romance!!! (Unfortunately, I don't get PixL)

But, I found some room and I'm totally ready now!!! :) Plus, like you, Kerry..... I'm still enjoying Christmas movies whenever I like! It's absolutely the best of both worlds!!!

Enjoy the new movies!!! And, Christmas, too!!!

  5. I'm having serious Christmas Hallmark withdrawal! I have lots of dvds but it's just not the same! I'm looking forward to all the new seasons though. Was so hoping to hear news of a new Murder She Baked. I can still hope!! Also hoping DirecTV will pick up Hallmark Drama!

The weather here in Carolina is record breaking cold!!! We don't have any snow where I am but it's extremely cold. Supposed to get some relief next week with some warmer temperatures.

Stay warm Net and as always blessings to you! You bring so much joy to us all here at IAWM!!

    1. Thank you so much, Joyce! We all understand your feelings here about Christmas! It's never over in our hearts!

I, too, keep hoping for Hallmark Drama! I just know they will be expanding one day and having their own original movies!

Keep warm and enjoy all the new movies this weekend! I'm so glad my site brings you joy! Thank you for sharing in it!

      Blessings!!! Net :)

    2. Just FYI for anyone it might be pertinent to, Sling TV (which is what I have) finally added Hallmark Drama recently. Here's hoping DirecTV will not be far behind for all of you who are waiting.

  7. Really disappointed Yannick Bisson is calling it quits. I really liked him as Aurora's boyfriend. Glad to hear there wine two more films though. Candace Cameron Bure is my favorite Hallmark actress, followed closely by Lacey Chabert.

    1. Yes, they were all such a complimentary cast together. Not sure where the story will go next! I'm sure this will definitely draw in viewers to see... it's definitely an intriguing mystery!!! :)

  8. What helps me keep the Christmas spirit going is not taking down the Christmas decorations until the weekend following the 12 days of Christmas...which this year is late, actually next weekend. Then I really get the blues! But I have recorded on my DVR almost all of the Hallmark Christmas movies, so that will provide some Christmas solace during these cold non-Christmas months.

And Net, I fess up too - I usually watch the Hallmark movies late at night, when it is dark and peaceful, maybe with a fire going, on the couch under a heavy blanket (hey, don't laugh, guys do this too) and with some hot cocoa. Although, I admit, sometimes I doze off and miss a scene or two and have to rewind...Oh well!

    1. Awe, I love it, Mark! Thanks so much for sharing (and confessing!)!!! I must say, all the guys in my family do the very same thing... they love the movies, too. In fact, one of them even remarked and said we might as well cancel our cable subscription now! Of course, that made me smile. I love that we all love the Hallmark movies together!!!

Thank you so much for sharing!!! :)

  9. I don't usually watch the Winterfest Hallmark Winter movies, mostly because I've watched so many Christmas movies in the past couple of months and I'm just unwilling to give up my Christmas addiction and attachment this soon after the Holidays and move on.
However I have to tell you, I just watched "Love on the Slopes" and it was exactly what I needed to help me with my Christmas withdrawal. I thought this movie was fantastic. I really enjoyed it a lot. Maybe because it hits me in my heart as far as facing fears and exhilaration. I highly recommending watching this movie.

    1. So happy to hear how much you enjoyed the start of Winterfest, Jim! That's wonderful! I agree, "Love on the Slopes" is such an inspiring movie about taking chances and stepping outside our comfort zone! Thank you for sharing how much it touched you!

      Blessings! Net

    2. Hey, Net, Jim, I loved, loved, loved this movie, "Love on the Slopes" from the beginning to the end! What a beautiful couple so completely different from each other. She, so energetic and bubbly and he, so serious and determined to quash all her fears. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, the storyline was exhilarating and the chemistry was "PRIMO" LOL!!

    3. I too really loved Love on the Slopes. I only got around to watching it yesterday, but was so pleasantly surprised how good it was. I was a little sad cause I thought I would be able to delete it from my ever full DVR, but I had to keep it to watch again and again. Very inspiring and I really liked the 2 actors together. Katrina Bowden is beautiful. I hope we see her more on Hallmark.

  10. I really missed Fallen Angel this year. I wonder why this quality movie wasn't shown. Thanks, Net for your hard work keeping us all up to date on family friendly programming and of course the joy of Christmas!

    1. Oh, thank you, Nancy, for this sweet message! I love your profile pic! "It's a Wonderful Life!" (My favorite, too!)

I also missed seeing "Fallen Angel" this past year, and another Hallmark Hall of Fame film, "A Season for Miracles!" I know the latter one, was on Hallmark's streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now, but I'm not sure about "Fallen Angel." Both are such quality programs, their presence was definitely missed throughout the Christmas season.

I appreciate you sharing this, plus I'm also very pleased to know, Nancy..... how much you enjoy family-friendly programming & Christmas movies!!! :)

  11. I have to say I was so happy to have some good movies to watch this weekend--
    a romance and mystery.
    ( I loved them both)
I do have to say I also appreciate the underlining message in the Hallmark movies.
Love on the Slopes reminded me to take some chances and not be such a worry wart.
PS I was sad to see Martin leave -- I wish him well
PSS Do you think Robin will not be the new love of Aurora?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh, yes! There were lots of awesome movies to enjoy this last weekend. It was disappointing for many Aurora fans to see Martin go, and whoever will be Aurora's next love interest is anyone's guess!!! :)

  12. Candace Cameron Bure responded to one of my tweets last night I guess Yannick didn't want to come back. So maybe they would have kept the Martin/Roe story going if he wanted to come back. I really missed John and Sally last night. I hope those actors were just busy for this movie and will be back for the others. John needs to be in Poppy Done to Death as Poppy is his daughter in law in the books.

I recommend the books, and if you have Audible account, the narrator is awesome and I always see Roe in my head as she reads it. The books and the movies are some of my favorites.

  13. The “cat sweater” that Aurora wore in Last Scene Alive (scene in kitchen talking to Aida) is so cute! Any idea where it can be purchased?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh, I forgot to mention, I loved that Arthur was back in Real Murders helping solve the crime. I personally love Peter Benson and Candace Cameron together. I wish we could explore more of the Arthur/Roe romance, but I do love Miranda as Lynn and don't want to mess that up. I also loved the comment that Arthur said about them not writing him in the movie. Aurora asked why they wouldn't have a detective in the movie and he said they do, but he was described as dim. Roe's face was so funny, she was like "yeah, that is you". I really enjoyed this movie. My favorite is A Bone to Pick, but this one may be my second favorite.

    1. I adore, Arthur, too, Sabrina! Wasn't it the best, when he was initially named Chief!

As for Arthur & Roe, how about this... Wouldn't it be fun if they did some flashback scenes and showed when Arthur & Aurora were once together. That could be rather interesting!

Sweet Arthur... I loved that moment you mentioned, too, and Aurora's reaction!

So happy to know more Aurora movies are to come!!! :)

      Delete
    2. Oh Net, that would be wonderful, flashbacks of Arthur and Roe together. Even in the books, they started off just saying they used to be a couple so we were robbed of that connection. I probably wouldn't really care to see it if it weren't that Peter Benson was such a great actor and of course I love Candace, and the two of them together are sweet and funny.

      Delete
    3. Sabrina- So glad you like the flashback idea! If only we could give the writers that concept somehow!!!!! I feel just the same about Peter Benson!!!! He's so fun to watch! ;)

By the way... did you happen to read Ruth's interview with Miranda Frigon (Detective/Captain Lynn Smith)? She talks about how much fun it is working with Peter!

Here's the link, if you haven't seen it:
      http://mydevotionalthoughts.net/2018/01/interview-with-actress-singer-miranda-frigon-aurora-teagarden.html

Such a fun read! Blessings, Net

    4. Wow, thank you for sharing that interview, and thank you to Ruth for sharing and taking this on. That was a phenomenal interview. It makes me love Miranda even more, she is so down to earth. I would love to see her in a leading role for Hallmark. Its funny cause my husband and I were saying recently while watching October Kiss that Miranda always plays the "other girl" or the girl the guy doesn't ever pick. Hallmark does have their women they use in all movies like Candace, Danica, Lacey, but they are good about incorporating new leads like how Emilie (Bree from Chesapeake Shores) has starred in Christmas movies 2 years in a row (I have to say I love Emelie, she is beautiful and so good). And Catherine Bell was in 2 Christmas movies this year as well. Both of those actors are from Hallmark shows, like Erin and Lori, and they have been incorporated into lead roles, so I am hoping Miranda can too.

I am so sad she will be on maternity leave for the next 2, but happy she has her baby girl.

On the Peter Benson note, his wife, she is a beautiful and talented actress as well, Julia Benson. She was so good in her small role in Bramble House, and I have researched her quite a bit and am looking to catch more of her stuff. It is nice to know many of the Canadian actors/actresses are good friends in real life and I love seeing them all popping up in the same movies. I really want to go to Vancouver this summer and if I go, you better bet I am going to find the hallmark movies filming and what if I could be an extra? It is my dream. I will just sit in the background sipping some tea while the scene is going on.

      Delete
    5. Glad you enjoyed the interview, Sabrina! I had a feeling you would! It's always interesting to get some insight into the actors/actresses backgrounds and behind the scenes movie info! I just loved reading how long Miranda & Peter have known one another, which makes their on screen relationship so much deeper! Love those two! At least she "got the guy" in Aurora!!!

That would be awesome if you could visit Vancouver and visit one of the Hallmark movie sets! I know we would all love to hear all about it, when you do!!! :)

      Blessings!!! Net

  15. As usual the real treat for many was the range of Christmas fare on telly over the past two months. Certainly my feel good pick up after a long day at work. Thanks Net for keeping us in the know about all things HM UP Lifetime etc and what is worth to watch. It was nice to see new faces appearing and I really liked some of the casting and productions. I had a few favorites which I`ll keep on DVR till next Christmas i.e Miss Christmas, Romance at Reindeer Lodge, Christmas in Mississipi, Snowed Inn Christmas and Love on the Slopes which was a real winner! I liked that mainstream tv actors made their way into the Hallmark realm and hope that the likes of Josh Kelly, Thomas Beaudoin, Katrina Bowden etc will appear in more future productions. The upcoming Valentine`s Day fest already looks very promising and looking forward to it!

    1. Thank you, Vee! So *happy* to know how much you enjoyed the Christmas movie updates here- throughout the Holiday season!

It's hard to choose, sometimes, which movies to let go off on the DVR and which ones to hold on to, until next year, or until the DVDs becomes available!!! I'm terrible, in that I generally want to keep everything, good or bad! But with the volume coming out, I'm learning to get over that and delete the ones I'm really not into. I haven't seen all the keepers you mentioned, but I've heard lots of good things about each one and can't wait to see! Like you, I'm so looking forward to the rest of Winterfest + Countdown to Valentine's Day and beyond!!! :)

Thank you, bunches, for sharing, Vee! Blessings!!! Net
