Net, Wondering if the O'Brien sisters movie is still in the works? Is the movie the reason of the shortened season?
ReplyDeleteHello Jill! Great question. I haven't heard any news on this project, lately. It was first announced that this movie was greenlit at the Winter TCA event in February. The storyline does seem very much like it could air during Winterfest.
DeleteHere's the plot Hallmark gave us in the initial press release: "With the winter weather dreary in Chesapeake Shores and their own love lives in a complicated state, Abby (Ory), Bree (Ullerup) and Jess (Mailey), adventure to Rome for the wedding of a childhood friend. While in Rome, they discover the wedding plans are in complete chaos and the bride may have a case of pre-wedding jitters because she has gone missing. In an attempt to find the bride, the O’Brien sisters scour the sites of Rome and work to create a happily ever after, while ultimately realizing the romance they each deserve back home in Chesapeake Shores."
There could be many reasons why they chose a shortened season, but, to my knowledge, Hallmark has never said why. Could be financial reasons, scheduling of actors, etc...
Based on episode details, it looks like this new season of Chesapeake Shores will be a set-up for this new movie.
This is not at all confirmed or official, but more just a logical guess... Two of the O'Brien sisters are pregnant in real life (Laci Mailey and Meghan Ory) -- which they shared on social media) -- and I think the plans for the Rome movie were made well before it was known that they were each pregnant.
DeleteIt is quite possible that Hallmark chose to not go ahead with the movie this year (because it would require shooting around TWO pregnant women instead of hiding just one of them behind desks and large purses). It's also possible that flying to Rome was going to be too stressful on one or both of the actresses, and perhaps they could have been advised against making that kind of trip at a certain stage of the pregnancy. (Every woman and every pregnancy is different, so who knows?)
In any case, IF Hallmark had gone ahead with filming the movie, it would have technically been considered part of the "season" that is about to premiere, just as the When Calls the Heart Christmas movies are part of their upcoming seasons, and the Good Witch Halloween movies are part of their upcoming seasons. The Rome movie probably would have been filmed at the beginning or end of production of the whole season, just as the WCTH and GW movies always are.
The upcoming season of Chesapeake Shores has already been filmed, and there were no signs of any related movie being filmed in Rome.
I don't know how far along Laci and Meghan are in their respective pregnancies, but my guess is that Hallmark either put the movie on hold and will include it as part of the NEXT season's allotment of hours (assuming "Chesapeake Shores" gets renewed for another season in 2020), OR will just scrap the movie entirely. They could possibly even rework the script so that it doesn't include Rome.
But IF Chesapeake Shores gets renewed for another season in 2020, then I would expect the Rome movie -- IF it is still in the works -- to not be filmed until the new contracts are signed and everything is in place for the next season, which probably would not be until after the New Year.
Again, this is all just "educated guessing" and speculating based on the info that is known right now, but that's all we have to go on.
Thank you for sharing this news. I had a hunch from the press photos that Meghan Ory was expecting again, but I had not heard or noticed Laci. This is certainly wonderful news for both of these ladies and their families.
DeleteI think your "educated guess" sounds very reasonable, but it does make me wonder how this season will end. Will it completely finish or will there be various cliffhangers???
Either way, this will certainly be a very interesting season!
Aw sad to read through the episodes ofChesapeake Shores that Trace and Abby won’t be getting back together.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but I'm hoping absence makes the heart grow fonder! Trace and Abby were meant to be together since Season 1, first episode!
DeleteThe simplicity of the graphics on each side of the text is such a welcome change. I love the restful neutral creamy yellow. You are amazing and so is our great God. Thank you, Net!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! Thank you for this thoughtful, uplifting message of support. I'm encouraged to hear how much you like this new look.
DeleteAnd, I wholeheartedly agree with you - God is, indeed, Amazing!!!
Blessings to you!
I can’t wait to see all the Obriens return. My favorite TV family!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy this family, too, and all of their various relationship dramas. My favorite moments are when they all gather around the dinner table to share life's latest happenings, and I love that they have normal arguments, but in the end, they are always there for one another. It is such a great show!
DeleteThanks for sharing amazing photo gallery
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed these beautiful pictures of the "Chesapeake Shores" cast! :)
DeleteI just adore this show and was disappointed that this season was so short. I did thnk that Meghan Ory did look pregnant--wonderful news--as is Laci's pregnancy--and I supposed the shortened season and putting the movie off makes perfect sense for that reason. But it's a long wait from now until next August when the O'Briens hopefully return to Hallmark!!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I feel the same way. There were lots of unfinished stories there. I felt like they quickly fit all sorts of last minute details into this final episode and I, too, didn't want it to end so early.
DeleteAlso, I thought they were supposed to have a nice wedding reception given by the mother, Megan, for Kevin and Sarah. I guess it was just the simple dinner with all the family, instead. I was expecting more family and friends and their co-workers from the fire dept.
Anyway, I still love all of those wonderful family get together moments around the dinner table, campfire, etc...
Let's hope the movie project still works out next year, and I, too, hope they renew the series and bring everyone back for season 5!
