Hallmark Movie News for 2015... Karen Kingsbury Novels to become T.V. Movies and More!

It is always exciting to hear the news of upcoming movie projects coming to the Hallmark Channel, and today I have compiled five upcoming movies for 2015 - to share with you!

Two of these upcoming movie projects will be adapted from books by Christian novelist Karen Kingsbury, for the small screen! One of them, titled The Bridge, is Christmas-themed!

Hallmark Channel announces the development of two all-new Original Movies with #1 New York Times bestselling author and America’s favorite inspirational novelist, Karen Kingsbury. The network will produce two original movies based on the author’s celebrated “Life Changing Fiction™” and her award-winning contemporary romance titles, The Bridge and A Time to Dance.

“The Bridge,” will be written by screenwriter Jamie Pachino (“Franklin & Bash”) and is scheduled for a Holiday 2015 World Premiere. The captivating romance follows Molly Allen, a woman who left her heart in Franklin, Tennessee with the man she walked away from in college. When Molly finds out The Bridge, a beloved bookstore back in Franklin, is in jeopardy along with the bookstore's owner, she immediately returns to help, only to come face to face with her old flame, Ryan, again—along with a river of buried emotion. Molly agrees to do anything she can to help and as she and Ryan join forces to save The Bridge, their special bond reignites. Little does Molly know she is about to discover a long-held secret as she and Ryan rekindle the kind of love that can overcome all obstacles.

The second film in development, "A Time to Dance,” follows the bittersweet story of John and Abby. When their perfect marriage starts to fall apart, they make the sad decision to separate, but when they gather their children to tell them the news, their daughter interrupts with a surprise announcement of her own: she's getting married! Determined not to ruin their daughter's season of happiness, Abby and John secretly put their plans on hold. Despite their best efforts to keep their distance, the wedding plans bring them back together and help them to remember why they fell in love in what feels like a lifetime ago.

Hallmark's three other movie projects, coming in 2015, include a fantastic supporting cast of new and veteran actors, including Tim Conway, Rita Moreno, Rachel Boston, Hilarie Burton, Paul Campbell, Alison Sweeney, and more!!!

"Small Miracles", (UPDATE: renamed "A Gift of Miracles") starring Rita Moreno (West Side Story) and Rachel Boston (A Ring by Spring) is being made for the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel. Scheduled to air February 2015.

Rita Moreno and Rachel Boston will star in
Hallmark Movies and Mysteries "Small Miracles"

excerpt of Hallmark's Press Release:
In “Small Miracles,” Boston stars as Darcy Miller, a scientific graduate student and true-blue realist, who comes across a list of belongings the mother she never knew planned to give to close friends and family.  To find out more about her, Darcy sets out to fulfill her mother’s wishes only to find herself encountering small-but-miraculous events, each laced with a piece of wisdom that helps guide her in her career and understanding of life.  Although challenging her rational views of the world, Darcy’s journey becomes an unexpected gift of self-discovery.  When events lead her to the door of a stranger (Moreno) she’s never met, but with whom she shares an unbelievable bond, Darcy discovers there are marvels in this world, even small ones, that defy explanation while being unmistakable in their meaning.

The fourth project I'm sharing today is probably one of the first new movies we will see in 2015, "Surprised by Love", for the Hallmark Channel, starring Tim Conway (The Carol Burnett Show), Hilarie Burton (Naughty or Nice), and Paul Campbell (Window Wonderland). Scheduled to air January 2015.

the Hallmark Channel Original Movie "Surprised by Love"

excerpt of Hallmark's Press Release:
Josie Mayfield (Burton), a no-nonsense businesswoman working at her father’s prosperous cookware company, thinks her boyfriend Richard (Aaron Craven, “Gracepoint”) is the perfect man – handsome, successful and driven. The problem is that Josie’s parents, Joseph and Claire (Malcom Stewart, “My Boyfriends’ Dogs” and Wanda Cannon “Heartland”), do not agree. When Josie meets up with Maxwell (Campbell), an underachieving, old high school flame (who still has a crush on Josie), Richard dreams up a plan to make himself look good to Josie’s parents: Maxwell will be Josie’s date at Joseph and Claire’s upcoming anniversary party. When Joseph and Claire see Josie with a “loser,” they’ll give anything to have Richard back in the picture. At least, that’s the plan.

Alison Sweeney

The last project I'm sharing is another Hallmark Channel Movie: "Radio Hype", starring Alison Sweeney, who also starred in the Hallmark Movie "Second Chances".

excerpt of Hallmark's Press Release:
Sweeney will star as a radio host who moves to Chicago for her boyfriend and a new hosting gig, when her picture perfect relationship abruptly ends. She shares her troubles with a fellow colleague, not realizing he is a competing shock jock. When these rivals must work together, they soon find out they have more in common than their radio personas reveal.

Looks like 2015 is already scheduled to be a wonderful year of movies for Hallmark! I am so thrilled to see all the new movies slated ahead for our viewing pleasure and share them with all of you!

They sound so good ... I just can't wait ... But, first we have 12 All New Movies to watch this Christmas Season... so, we will take them one by one... and enjoy the journey!

    1. I have been hearing some interesting reviews of Cedar Cove lately. It seems many are not thrilled with the direction it has taken.

    1. YES! YES! YES! Thank you for asking. I thought we would do it - either, just before or right after Valentine's Day!

The yearly poll will include our favorite family movie from last, too... as well as favorite actors, actresses, etc...

  5. Terrible waste of my time to do a part one in 2015 and part two in 2016 ...I will never watch his movie again; I will never recommend this movie or this movie beginningand I'll check on future premieres of Hallmark movies to make sure that I don't waste my time and get trapped again...I am super disappointed ...what a collosal waste time as I gaze wide eye at the time with 15 minutes left and the demise of a storyline and characters that seemingly started out with smart, determined individuals that were quickly turned into manipulated mindless bots. I Am Still In Disbelief...

  6. Terrible waste of my time to do a part one in 2015 and part two in 2016 ...I will never watch his movie again nor will I ever recommend it and I'll check on future premieres-- to make sure that I don't waste my time. I'm super disappointed.. what a waste of storyline and what a waste of characters; initially smart and determined...then quickly and easily manipulated and mindless.

I really can't believe I allowed myself to sit and watch

  7. I agree to have to wait until December 2016?! Really...that's a lot of Christmas disappointment. Thanks a whole lot!

  8. Totally agree with Joann

  9. i agree with Joann, I was very upset when it got to the end and said part 2 was not until December 2016!! Really people, by then I will have to see part 1 again to remember what happened and I feel you left everyone hanging! That is just wrong....Part 2 should be shown next week!! I really love your station but if this continues with her books I will also stop watching!

  10. I agree it was a great movie but left you feeling very sad wondering where the end is. Really Hallmark next year? I hate that.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree. I may not be living in 2016. I loved this movie and wish I could have seen the end of it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I agree but do not want to wait until 2016 for the end of this movie. I may not be here.

    ReplyDelete
  13. This was a silly executive decision, made by those sitting a table. I met with several people today at a meeting, all furious about the 2016 ending! Shame on you Hallmark. You are all so much better than that.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Part 1 was so good but to have to wait until 2016 to see the ending is crazy. Why does Hallmark do that? I get tired of seeing the same movies over and over again. I love their movies but to wait a year for the ending is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm just adding my 2 cents to all the other comments on the Bridge. Why wait a year for the conclusion? Unless this is destined to become a series which is unlikely do you think anyone is going to mark their calendar for the conclusion. Your tv audience has a very short attention span & come on we will wait for other shows which from the start are advertised so you know they will be ongoing as a series. As a loyal listener for many years of all the fine quality programs you produce I think you should reconsider your strategy on this.

  16. I agree with the above comments....My wife and I sat through two hours of this movie, and while an interesting story, we were totally infuriated to see that "Part 2" wasn't scheduled until next year! If that was the original intention of the "network suits", they should have at MINIMUM, alerted people that this was a 2 part story, let alone part 2 was being shown NEXT YEAR.......

    ReplyDelete
  17. I can't believe I have to wait. I agree with everyone, it is so crazy to wait. Halmark should come with new movies and not keep us waiting for movies already done and ready for watching

    ReplyDelete
  18. I will just add my 2 cents worth. Waiting a year for the second half of a good movie is infuriating. If it not yet written or shot, Hallmark should have waited until it was ALL ready.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Actually, I did not believe this was to be continued & 2016! If I had known this, I would not watched part 1

    ReplyDelete
  20. Where is the complete story of this movie on DVD? What a disappointment of 'to be continued' at the end of the television version.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have seen a lot of gimmicks before but this one takes the cake. Hallmark really blew this one. I don't know if I want to watch any more of their Christmas movies this year. How in the world could they think we'd be happy with a movie that's to be continued a year later. My wife and I were really enjoying it and wondering how they would finish it off in the last 10-15 minutes. Imagine our surprise when they flashed "To be continued". MAJOR LETDOWN! Bad on you Hallmark!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I too was very disappointed after viewing this movie, only to discover it was "to be continued". It should have been clearly advertised as "Part 1". I actually recorded it 3 times in the hopes that one of them would be Part 2. Disgusted!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree with all the previous comments. Ridiculous waste of time. Who knows if any of us will be alive one year from now. I haven't read any positive things about this decision. I hope that whoever made this stupid decision will take notice of all these negative comments.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Great movie, but if i would have known it would be a year to see the rest, I would never have watched it. who thought of that one isn't very bright. Stupid!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with all the comments. My husband and I love the hallmark channel. We loved the movie, We are shocked that hallmark would say that part 2 would be in Dec 2016. We kept thinking it was a mistake and every time it came on we would start watching it thinking it was part 2. This is crazy never heard of such. Very upset. Makes us not want to watch hallmark any more. Always excited about the movies. This is just uncalled for. Not fair to all the loyal viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Just watched part 1 and spent 1/2 hour trying to find where I could find part 2. Being forced to wait 1 year to watch the ending is a very discouragement! This was a bad decision on the part of the Hallmark executives!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I loved the movie, however, my favorite part of any movie is the "happy ending," which is why I usually like Hallmark movies, but not this one. I got up this morning and googled when the second part would be shown and found out it is in a year. 1) I will have forgotten it in a year, and 2) I will not watch it until I'm sure it will not also be continued (which is why I stopped watching Cedar Cove). And to think, I used to love the Hallmark Movie Channel!

    ReplyDelete
  28. why not put these on dvd. Hallmark is missing the boat by not putting these great movies ALL on DVD and make them easy to BUY.....

    ReplyDelete
  29. Lori Laughlin, Candice Cameron Bure, Brook Shields These GREAT Actors Have brought the BEST Movies to Hallmark Mysteries, Along with the New Bridge 1&2 PLEASE put these on DVD. I know I'm not the only one that would like these GREAT MOVIES on DVD
