Fireproof starring Kirk Cameron - Premieres this Sunday on TV

-
*Fireproof premieres on TV - April 25, 2010, Sunday, at 6 PM est- on the Gospel Music Channel. (just before the Dove Awards!)

Movie Description:

From the Creators of Facing the Giants comes a powerful tale of triumph, honor and forgiveness.

Kirk Cameron (Left Behind, Growing Pains, etc...) stars as Caleb Holt, a heroic fire captain who values dedication and service to others above all else. But the most important partnership in his life, his marriage, is about to go up in smoke. This gripping story follows one man's desire to transform his life and marriage through the healing power of faith and fully embrace the fireman's code: Never Leave Your Partner Behind.

After seven years of marriage, Caleb and Catherine Holt have drifted so far apart that they are ready to move on without each other. Yet as they prepare to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's dad asks his son to try an experiment, The Love Dare.

While hoping The Love Dare has nothing to do with his parents' newfound faith, Caleb commits to the challenge. But can he attempt to love his wife while avoiding God's love for him? Will he be able to demonstrate love over and over again to a person that's no longer receptive to his love? Or is this just another marriage destined to go up in smoke?
---

This is a very powerful movie about Marriage, Family, Commitment, and Christian Faith. Some scenes, due to Caleb's job as a firefighter, are too intense for young children, however, I believe it is safe enough for most tweens.

I think this is a very special and meaningful movie about Marriage that explains the trueness of "unconditional love".... it's inspiring and heartwarming!

For the Love of Grace

MOVIE REVIEW

For the Love of Grace:

Hallmark Channel Movie with a Firefighter Theme... starring Mark Consuelos, Chandra West, and Corbin Bernsen.

CAST:

Mark Consuelos ... Steve
Chandra West ... Grace
Ennis Esmer ... Frank
Cara Pifko ... Jen
Corbin Bernsen ... Captain Washington

PLOT:
from Hallmark-

An act of heroism changes the lives of two strangers affected by the past, and allows them to face the uncertain future together in “For the Love of Grace,” a Hallmark Channel Original Movie premiering Saturday, August 30 (9/8c). Mark Consuelos (“Husband for Hire”), Chandra West (“John From Cincinnati”) and Corbin Bernsen (“Love Comes Softly”) star in the romance, which looks at what happens when those who put their lives on the line every day are the ones most in need of saving.

Steve (Consuelos) loves his job as a firefighter, working alongside his younger brother, Frank (Ennis Esmer, “YPF”) and his good friends. But when his wife dies in a car accident and he feels he was unable to save the one life that mattered, he grows distant and reckless, forcing his captain (Bernsen) to suspend him. His life soon changes when he rescues Grace (West), a workaholic author, from an apartment fire he spots while walking home. A wounded soul like Steve, Grace has thrown herself into her work, an impending marriage and attaining her ‘ideal’ future since losing her beloved father, and the disappearance of the old, carefree Grace has not gone unnoticed by her friends.

Thanks to Steve, Grace finds inspiration for a new project: a firehouse cookbook, full of recipes by Steve and his comrades, who have developed exemplary culinary skills during their downtime.

Her new lease on life also forces her to open her eyes to what she has been missing, and she starts to recapture the energy and spontaneity of her old life. Thanks to Grace (and some gentle nudging from Frank), Steve begins to accept his past and allow his wounds to heal, allowing himself to recognize the possibilities the future may hold.

Movie Review:

To be honest, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this movie. However, 2-3 minutes in... I found myself very intrigued. I guess I thought there would be a lot of intense violence with fires and sadness, but that wasn't the case. We don't actually ever see Steve's first wife - who has passed away, and Steve is sad - living life without her, understandably... but that doesn't drag the whole movie down... instead you begin to see Steve find hope and joy - in living, again. I think this would be encouraging to those who may be going through the same situation.

The movie seemed so down to earth and real.... these characters were fantastic! I especially loved the relationship between the brothers: Steve and Frank. They were great together!!! Terrific Casting All-Around! Frank was the perfect little brother - doing his best to help his brother find happiness again. I was so pleased his character met a sweet girl by the end of the movie - I kept hoping for it!

There are a couple of scenes to be aware of - if children watch. There is a fire in an apartment building. Noone is hurt or injured- in fact the person inside is rescued. This scene isn't long, but could disturb children and would definitely be a good subject for families to discuss. There is a bit of drinking - when out to lunch. Also, in anothere scene, a boy is rescued after taking a long hard fall. The actual fall is not seen - just the rescue.

The romance in this movie is subtle, but very realistic. thoroughly enjoyed it and was actually left wanting more!

See or Skip:

See with your family. I do, however, caution this for young viewers - due to fire scenes.

Fireproof

I was so blessed by the Behind the Scenes Making of Fiireproof, which aired late last week on TBN. What an amazing Christian atmosphere went into making this movie... why it is certainly more than just a movie - it's a ministry.

The movie stars Kirk Cameron... a favorite actor of mine going back to his days as Mike Seaver on Growing Pains. I have enjoyed following his career and life story. The Way of the Master Program that he and Ray Comfort have developed together is a powerful and amazing tool to lead non-believers to Christ.

It was so interesting to see all the details that went into making the movie... in the Behind the Scenes Making of Fireproof... and how all the people participating weren't paid a penny - they were all there to serve! I was especially taken and blessed by one scene where a car is stuck on the train tracks and a train is coming and they have to get the car out of the way fast ... well in order to make this scene happen they needed a backhoe to move the car around- and amazingly enough the man who lived next door to the train tracks where they were filming - not only had a backhoe, but was such a fan of their other movies - Flywheel and Facing the Giants (I like those movies, too!) ... that he offered his services and the backhoe for free.

Here's the Description of the Movie from the Official Web-site - http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/:

At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules.

Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter...just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being "good enough" for her husband.

Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework, and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks.

As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: "The Love Dare." Wondering if it's even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father's sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book's daily challenges are tied into his parents' newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened.

While trying to stay true to his promise, Caleb becomes frustrated time and again. He finally asks his father, "How am I supposed to show love to somebody who constantly rejects me?"

When his father explains that this is the love Christ shows to us, Caleb makes a life-changing commitment to love God. And with God's help he begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife.

But is it too late to fireproof his marriage? His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever...rescuing his wife's heart.

I am so looking forward to seeing this movie. The Rating is PG-13, but I suspect that it is due to the violence of the firefighting scenes. I just thought I would pass along to you all how wonderful the Making of the Movie was and encourage you to see it, if you have the opportunity.
The Making of the Movie airs again tonight-
