Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Looks like another great weekend with lots of excellent viewing options. I sure hope Romance at Hope Ranch is as good as it looks, and the new When Calls the Heart, with memories shared of Jack, looks like it will be so special and heartwarming. I've written up some reviews of the movies I've watched recently, so I'll try to get those posted on Saturday. (Monday at the latest.)

If you'd like to share a review for the new movies airing this weekend or anything else, please share in comments.

Always wanted to say... I'm so sorry I was recently behind in submitting and responding to comments. My family has been passing around a cold, and it was my turn (lucky me!) to get it on Wednesday. So, over the last few days, I haven't been feeling up to being on the computer much. I hear the cold and flu have been going around a lot. Have any of you had it too?

Take care, everyone!
Blessings to you all,
Net

  2. Hey Net, sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather. It’s been going around, we’ve had it too, but thankfully finally better. Hope you’ll be back to your usual self soon.

I’m really looking forward to the new movie with Alison & her daughter. I wonder if she has any acting aspirations beyond this?

    1. Christie, Thank you! So good to hear you all are are doing well now.

Enjoy the new movie. I haven't heard if Megan wants to be an actress, too, like her momma. Now I'm curious, too! Looking forward to seeing the two act side by side! :)

  3. Great options this weekend, especially Romance at Hope Ranch. I think this movie with Alison & Gabriel looks like a winner. I’m wondering though if it will do more damage than good though for Hannah Swensen since they seem determined to keep Hannah and Norman apart.

    1. Very interesting thoughts. I had always been on Team Mike before, but when Cameron left, I definitely felt something different spark between Hannah and Norman, that I had never truly felt before - and while I like Victor Webster as an actor, I'm just feeling that they've put Hannah and him together way too quickly.

I agree with you, Anonymous... After Romance at Hope Ranch airs - it's going to be much harder to see Hannah not choosing Norman again.

  4. Awww...Net, I'm so sorry to hear that you got the cold bug! Yes, I had some kind of virus (but not Covid) recently that lasted for weeks. It went from my throat, to my chest, to my head. I was wondering if it was ever going to end! And some people I know had the exact symptoms and it lasted as long as mine, so it is very common. Hopefully you will get over yours soon! Have lots of hot tea and chicken noodle soup - that always makes me feel better!

    1. Mark, Oh my... so sorry to hear that you were feeling so bad. That's no fun at all. And I know so many people say - oh, you just have a cold. Well, if it was them, they wouldn't say that. When you're the one experiencing it, it's miserable.

However, it's just been a few days for me, and I'm already seeing some improvement. I'm one who tries to eat as healthy as possible - I'm staying hydrated, getting some some sunshine, taking my vitamins, and yes, chicken noodle soup is a favorite for me, too! Thank you, Dr. Mark! Would you also recommend a dose of movie-watching? Haha! I think that's just what the doctor ordered! Have a great weekend, my friend! :)

    2. Hi Mark,

Oh my! I am also sorry to hear about your terrible illness. That is not fun! Sending you warm wishes and hugs! :-)

    3. Oh yes, Net, Dr. Mark here would definitely recommend a healthy dose of Hallmark/GAF movies! In fact, I recommend that to all of my patients! ;)
Seriously, I am glad to hear you are on the mend!

    4. Hi Joan, thank you so much for your well wishes! I have been completely over the virus for a few weeks now, so I am hoping I stay healthy, especially since I am scheduled to give a one-hour talk on "Jesus Final Days" next week at my church in preparation for Holy Week. Keep me in your prayers. Warm wishes and hugs right back atcha!

    5. Mark, Wishing you well with your speech on "Jesus Final Days." That sounds amazing. I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers, along with the ones who are listening to your speech. May their hearts be receptive to the amazing love of Jesus and His incredible sacrifice for us on the cross. God bless you, my friend! :)

    6. Awww, thank you so much, Net...that means a lot! I've given this talk before, and I'm used to getting in front of people for talks - religious and otherwise - but I still get nervous beforehand. (As I tell others, if I'm "in the zone", I do well; if I'm not...) So yes, pray that I will be "in the zone" and that the audience will be receptive to the message. I'm giving the talk on the evening of Tuesday the 10th.

Thank you so much for the well-wishes!! I hope you & your family can all stay healthy. Have a wonderful weekend. :)

  8. Hi Net,

I am so sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Please rest easy and relax and keep doing what you are doing to heal. :-) Here is a warm hug and and warm bowl of chicken noodle soup! :-)

I can't wait to watch the final movie of February. I just know it is going to be a good one. I saw a clip, of Alison with her daughter and it was so heartwarming and lovely. You can tell, just from that short clip, how much Alison enjoyed doing this film. I did not watch the Sarah Drew movie last week. No interest in watching it and I really like Sarah but not the content of her movie.

Oh, WCTH has been simply amazing this season. We just LOVE IT!

    1. Joan, Oh, thank you for the hug! Thank goodness it's virtual, right? Wouldn't want to give you this cold. But really, I am doing a whole lot better. Unfortunately, other family members have had it, some a lot worse than me, so I'm just praying they all improve soon.

Hope you were able to catch & enjoy Alison's movie. I thought it was such a delightful watch (see my review below)!

And, this latest WCTH, with memories of Jack, was such a special one, too. Glad you are thoroughly enjoying this season. I know just what you mean... I also don't want it to end! Thank goodness we already know another season is on the way. :)

    2. Hi Net,

I apologize for the delay in responding to your comment. Been dealing with a lot of things recently. Anyway, you are welcome for the hug! And yes, probably good it is virtual. :-) I hope the others who got sick are feeling better.

We haven't watched Alison's movie, from last week yet, but we really enjoyed last week's episode of WCTH. We will watch last night's episode soon. I am sure it will be great too! I also am so happy there is another season coming because this little amazing show brings us so much joy.

  10. So sorry to hear you're not feeling well Net. I had a virus that mimics Covid in January. Thought I was never going to get over it. Had to have a round of prednisone and an antibiotic before it was over. Prayers you will recover quickly my friend!

    1. Joyce, Thank you so much, sweetie, for the prayers and well-wishes! I am still getting there, but soooo much better now. Sorry to hear all that you went through in January to get over that virus. Oh my goodness, honey. That's no fun at all. I'm so glad to know you are over it now.

Thank you, again, for the sweet message! :)

  11. Romance at Hope Ranch is so sweet! -Maria

    1. Romance at Hope Ranch - I agree with Maria, this movie is just as sweet as can be! I love that Alison’s character, Hope, sets out with determination to purchase and run her own ranch. And while, sure, she faces some bumps in the road, it’s heartwarming to see the kindness of good neighbors who are always willing to lend a hand, even if Hope sometimes has a hard time asking for help.

I also truly enjoyed seeing Alison act alongside her real-life daughter, Megan. Her portrayal of Hope’s daughter, Maggie, who has just headed off to college, fits her perfectly. Their scenes together have such a warm, authentic mother-daughter feel.

And it was so fun to see Alison paired with Gabriel Hogan in this movie! He plays a very handsome cowboy named Jack, who’s hoping to win back Hope- the love of his life. Watching the two of them together is especially satisfying for those of us who adore them as Hannah and Norman in the Murder, She Baked / Hannah Swensen Mysteries. There’s even a cute little nod to that series, a photo of them from the mystery hanging on the wall in Jack’s new business, simply explained as an old picture of the two of them. Mystery fans will definitely love that. I know I did!

This movie truly looks like it was a joy to film, and it’s just as joyful to watch. It’s wholesome, family-friendly, and perfect for all ages.

Overall, I loved the down-home country ranch setting, the beautiful, wide-open scenery, the animals… and one little chicken named Houdini absolutely steals the show and our hearts! ~Net 🐔❤️

  13. The latest WCTH episode was one of the sweetest I’ve ever seen. The memories of Jack were incredible! Well done to the writers!! Also, I wish Charlotte was a regular on the show. She fits so well with the Grant/Thornton family and you can feel her love for Allie and Nathan which really touched my heart.

    1. Abigail, I so agree! Charlotte is so wonderful - would love to see more of her in future episodes. I always thought she would have paired well with Bill - and then He could've been little Jack's Grandpa by marriage. Just a dream.

Anyway, I think Charlotte was truly allowed to shine in this last episode where she was able to interact so well with the children and share so openly her cherished memories of her son. It was all so beautiful.

Hopefully, if/when there is a wedding, she'll be able to return for that.

I also liked how Henry shared his precious memory of forgiveness from the past, then Nathan quietly thanked him for sharing, considering all that he's going through with his son. There were so many layers to that scene.

Such a touching, heartwarming episode overall!

  14. Romance At Hope Ranch scored the highest viewing overnight figures for Hallmark this year with 1.64.

Yet it is currently scoring a lowly 5-8 on IMDb - go figure.

Meanwhile WCTH had a dip to 1.642m from the previous week's high but that was still the 2nd most watched hour of HM to date this year.

The viewing figures given today's climate have been good for January and February - it's going to be interesting to see how they hold up in as we approach Easter and beyond. Florence

    1. Florence, Interesting rating numbers. And I'm rather surprised by the IMDB ranking for Romance at Hope Ranch. I thought it was such an enjoyable watch. Have you seen it, yet? (I was just getting ready to share a review)

Honestly. I'm really surprised that WCTH did that well Sunday night, especially with all the recent breaking news coverage. But perhaps, after a long day of watching news, viewers needed a lighthearted, welcoming escape.

I imagine ratings will go down a little more for movies as the weather heats up in more places as we approach Spring, but we'll see.

      Thank you for sharing! :)

  15. Love Afloat - This movie is family-friendly, but it was just okay for me. The story is sweet and lighthearted, though I did find it a little hard to believe that a young woman would leave her job at such an important moment to go live and work on a boat she inherited from a relative who had recently passed away. That seemed kinda far-fetched to me.

Along the way, she discovers a journal that shares the relative’s love story, and at the same time she begins to feel a spark with a man who is also searching for direction in his own life. She hires him to help restore the boat and serve as her captain as they sail it back to Miami.

Overall, some of the acting was a little off, but all the characters seemed really nice. It's a one-time watch for me, but others who really enjoy boats and stories set on the water, may appreciate it more. ~Net

  16. Love Afloat-I hesitated to review because I appreciate any movie that is clean and family friendly, but I agree Net, it was just okay. Actually, your words are more generous than I can be! I did watch through to the end, but I really struggled to stay with this movie. The acting felt forced and I didn't sense chemistry between the two. The setting was loveley though.

    1. Lizzy, I completely understand what you mean. It can sometimes be a little tricky to review a movie since we value films that are family-friendly, but I’m grateful you also took the time to share your perspective with us.

And... I know what you mean about trying to stay with Love Afloat. I must admit, there were times I actually considered jumping ship, too!

I did think the setting was lovely, as well... that was definitely a bright spot. :)
